Iphone 5 time wont update...

I am in the UK, my iphone 5 time will not update, either on manual or automatic, it will work for a breif second and then cut out...
I have tried these following things...
- Restored from a back up
- Restored my phone in itunes
- Wiped my phone completely clean and started it as a new iphone
- Turning various data options off
- Changing the clock from 24 hours to 12 hours (I was desprate )
Any help on this matter would be great,

if its telling you to plug into itunes then you have to restore it that way. do you back your phone up using itunes or i cloud. if you have a back up you are good to go. To check if you have a back up
Windows> Go into itunes under EDIT>Preference>Devices and your back ups will be listed there
Mac> go to itunes under Itunes>Preference>Devices and your back up will be listed there

Try this:
1. Plug phone into MAC / PC, start iTunes.
2. Restore your phone and this will make it like new.
3. Back up phone again.
4. Then try to update to iOS 5 again.
Are you updating via wifi ?

If I was in your shoes, I would choose to restore the iPhone with iTunes and then choose to NOT restore a previous backup. I'd then go on to set up the phone as though it were totally new, and choose the stuff to load onto it.
The reason I'd go through that trouble.. even though it meant losing a lot of settings and having to set stuff up again .. is because I wasn't sure I could trust the backup that it's restoring from.
If you have trouble again after doing the fresh reload -- especially if it's soon after you do it -- you may have a hardware issue with the phone, such as faulty flash memory or a processor chip that's failing. If that's the case, you'll want to consider your repair/replacement options at that point.

Iphone 4 wont update to version 4.3.5, keeps saying cant connect to internet to update even though internet connection is fine, any suggestions?

iPhone 4 wont update to version 4.3.5, keeps saying "ITunes could not contact the iPhone software update server because you are not connected to the Internet, make sure your Internet connection is active and try again."
However there is nothing wrong with my Internet connection as the Internet works perfectly fine.
iPhone has updated previoulsy with no problems.
Any suggestions?

Disable your firewall AND antivirus. If you have ever used this computer to hack or jailbreak ANY iDevice (not just the one with the problem) you will have to restore your hosts file to the way it was before you did so.

Just have to give it some time. The download, activation, and verification servers are all slammed right now 'cause of all the people trying to update at the same time. Give it a couple hours (or overnight if you can wait) and it should sort itself out.

i update my iphone 6 to os 8.1.2 then an icon 'connect to itunes' appear, when i connect to itunes it says "your iPhone can't be updated; you must restore it to factory settings." Then i select restore then a prompt appears again saying "Are you sure you want to restore the iPhone “iPhone” to its factory settings? All of your media and other data will be erased, and the newest version of the iPhone software will be installed." then i click "restore and update". Then after several minutes of waiting a message appears saying "The iphone could not behbeh ko restored. An unknown error occurred (56)." Then i disconnect it from the usb cable, but the icon connect to itunes is still there and i cant turn it off or even return to my home screen. What should be the problem? I just purchased it 3 weeks ago. Can someone help me. Thanks.

Sounds like you are going to need to make a Genius appointment at your Apple Store. Earlier posts with this issue have indicated that the device had to be replaced.

I have a 6 month old iPhone 4 from Verizon. I have not plugged my synced my phone in a while but it seems like it should be updated well past iOS 4.2 however when i try to update iTunes tells me that i have the latest OS. I'm running iTunes 10.5 on my two year old windows Vista laptop, and I am wondering what the problem is, I have already tried restoring my iPhone to factory settings and it still says that there are no updates availible. please help

You aren't reading your version correctly. You don't have 4.2.1. You have 4.2.10 which is as far as Verizon goes. Wait until tomorrow and you can upgrade to iOS 5.0

I have got a iphone 3gs myself which is on the latest update but I have tried to do my girlfriends which we have only gotten unlock from the telstra network in Australia and it tells me that the 4.2.1 version is current version. This phone hasnt been jailbroken therefore im at a lost for why i cant update it. Anyone that cant shed light on this would be great.

Is the device actually a 3GS? iOS4.2.1 is the current/latest version for the 3G.

When i connect my Iphone to my Computer, and itunes opens.
it start the Safty copy, of the files on my phone, but then its stuck, from the start, and it wont contiue, and when it does that you cant stop it...
so it just contiues to say "Safty Copying" and then it stops working and the itunes closes.. ?

Hi Go to settings back up to iCloud over your WiFi Then Restore to Factory Settings After restore use same apple ID Then do software update over your WiFi Since ios 7 Almost everything can be done over your WiFi Using a PC sometimes puts things on iPhone that you don't need. I recently went from an Android phone to an iPhone 6. Did my research to link Facebook Profile pics to my contacts and followed the directions. It does not update the contact photo's in my contacts list.

When I try to update my iPhone 3GS from 3.0 to 3.0.1 I get an error message saying "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone. The network connection timed out." Also, under downloads in iTunes, the file says err = 3259. Anyone have any ideas?
