Iphone 5 turned off by itself when it is cold outside?

When I was waiting for the city bus today I was going to take a picture with my iphone. Keep in mind it said I had 41% battery. When I was about to take the picture the screen went back it did the circle thing then shut off. I tried to turn it back on it showed the red battery thing with the red line & it wanted me to charge it. After a few minutes I tried again was the same thing. After 10 minutes did it one last time it turned on but then the battery magically turned to 31%. Why is it doing this?

Weather does funky things to batteries. If the device gets too cold or too warm, it will auto shut down.

  • My iphone turned off by itself and it doesn't turn on

My iphone turned off by itself and it doesn't turn on, What should i do????

IIf the battery was completely drained it might take some time before the phone will respond. Wait at least 30 minutes with the phone connected to the charger. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the phone starts up let it continue to charge until it's 100%.
if the broken button will not let you do the reset Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

    This didnt happen before..
I am using an updated bios v1.7(the latest).
Do you think it is because of that?? I have also made a memory upgrade(2GB,667mhz) and I am using windows xp and ubuntu.
    Any ideas?

    Hi there,
I don´t have any clue why the machine shuts itself off and I cannot give you a quick solution but I can give you a thought how to make some accurate troubleshooting:
Remove the newly installed module and try it again. Then give some feedback if it worked. If not we have to discuss further on that issue, would appreciate some feedback from you.
    bye

  • My iPhone turns on by itself when I turn it off

After installing iOS 6 on my iPhone 4S. It doesn't turn off! when I try to do so, and slide to switch it, it looks like its off but in a second iPhone turns on automatically.!!! Also my sound despere and doesn't respond to the volume buttons. I have tried everything holding home and sleep button, eresing all info from my iPhone, 4 times reinstalled ios 6 in iTunes didn't help...
Please help me to get my iPhone 4S back to normal condition. Thanks.

Do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.  If that does not help, take it to an Apple store genius bar for the techs to check.

  • Phone turns off by itself/when i adjust the volume is switches to headphone

    two issues here
first is that my phone just turns off on its own. happens 1-2 times a month. anyone else having this happen to them?
second is when i adjust the volume up/down the phone switches to headphones when no headphones are plugged in.

    perform SMC reset
    SMC reset
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
If the same contact Apple for appt. for full in shop diagnostic and possible repair.

  • My iphone turns off by itself and then turns on by its self

the power is nearly fully charged
this has happened a lot of times
if i hold down the lock button and home lock button nothing happens
    it happens randomly
the only way it turns back on is a few minutes later by its self
whats wrong with it and how can i fix it?
btw its an iphone 4 and i got it at the end of april

Hmm.. I would probably start with a hard reset (hold down the home button + sleep/wake button until you see a silver apple logo, then release). This reboots the software and can often help with these types of issues. If you try the hard reset and the problem persists, the next step to try is to back the phone up to iCloud or iTunes, reset to factory settings, and restore from back up. Hope this helps!

My iPhone turned off by itself and says to plug into iTunes and won't turn on. Is this something I can have fixed at te store?  I don't have a computer with iTunes..

You should be able to restore the iPhone, just connect it to the computer and open iTunes.
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed and take a look at this, if you run in to a problem.

Good afternoon. I'm in trouble with my HP Tx2. It's turning off by itself when I'm playing a game. I do not know what's happening. What could it be?
    Thanks,

Hi. try opening the lid over the fan. Take out the fan an take away all the dust in the cooling ribs. Also take of the lid on the fan and clean inside. Sounds like a overheating problem.
    God luck

  • T420 turns off by itself in the presence of magnetic field

    Hi forum,
I am currently experiencing a problem where my T420 would turn off by itself when it is being used in an environment with the presence of magnetic field (something like a aluminium smelter). It only happens when the monitor is tilted at an angle other than 80~90 degrees. Could this problem have something to do with the lid sensor? Does anyone know where about the type of lid sensor a T420 has and the about location of it? Thanks in advance!!

    Thanks for the reply guys!
I have changed the settings (both the power settings and the windows settings) of the lid close events to "do nothing". It stops the laptop from going to sleep mode however doesnt stop the screen from turning itself off. I supposed it is designed to turn off the monitor anyway because designer probably thought there is no point to leave the screen on if the lid is closed. Anyway what we will try now is to connect an external monitor and see if it solves the problem. I will update my progress.

  • HT201401 Why does my iPhone 3G keep turning off by itself even when it's not dead?

My dad had his iPhone 3G and gave it to me when he had an upgrade. He never had the issue of it turning off by itself, but when he gave it to me, all of a sudden it decided to turn off by itself even when it was on like 80% still.
I took it in to the Apple Store near me and they said that I had too much "stuff" on it, mostly music.
So, I completely redid my phone. I reset it completely so that it looked like a completely new iPhone. And then downloaded only 12 apps and 195 songs. And, only about 50 pictures. (This is an 8 gig by the way)
Right now, there's less than 4 gigs on there so far meaning I still have more than half of my phone to fill. They guy at the store said it needs 2 gigs to run.
SO, it should have started working since theres way less stuff on there now, and more than enough space to run. Why does it keep turning off still though?
It's so annoying and inconvenient. If anyone could help it would be SO appreciated.
    THANKS!!

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as a new device.  Go through each step in succession until your issue is resolved.

My 5S just started doing this on Thursday: every fraction of a second or so it oscillates between connecting and disconnecting with the charger (USB or wall, doesn't matter). Since it's still under the limited warrantee, I took it to the local Mac dealer (I live in a small town w/out an Apple store) and they shipped it off. I'm waiting now for the replacement--telephonless, too!
What concerns me is that many people seem to be having this issue.
You were right to be suspicious of the Apple store employees. Once they replicated the behavior that you experienced, they should have immediatly offered to exchange your phone. Anything else, in my opinion, is unacceptable. As long as your phone is still doing it, I'd go back, ask for the manager and tell them to exchange your phone.
