IPhone 5 used with  Snow Leopard 10.6.8?

My MacBook Pro 17" is an early model (2/07) and I have read that it is not capable of upgrading to Mountain Lion.  So it looks like using iCloud is unavailable for me.  What else on the iPhone 5 won't work with Snow Leopard?

CS 1 Works totally fine here on 10.6.8 and Rosetta is a killer feature, very fast and unobtrusive, I generally don't notice speed differences between CS1 (PPC) and CS5.5 (Intel) on the same machine for normal size files. So I have no reason to believe this won't be the case with CS2 as well.  With gigantic files 5.5 certainly has the edge as it can use way more memory.
Don't forget to ENABLE rosetta on 10.6. It is no longer ON by default.

Hi! Has anybody succeeded in using Presonus Audio box 22 vsl with Os Mountain Lion? They doesn´t seem to connect.
No problems when i used with Snow Leopard. I upgraded: Now Kreonika is not happy. Not happy at all!

In cases like this, if you have an Apple store near by, they will most likely install the OS free of charge for you, if you can't bring your Apple ID along to prove you've paid for it.
Would that work out for you?

  • Can iCloud be used with snow leopard on a Mac if you have an ipad2?

Can iCloud be used with a Mac that has been upgraded to it's full capacity with snow leopard if you are using it with an ipad2 and iPhone 4 ( with upgraded system)?

If you have joined iCloud on your iPad, this will be the situation on your Snow Leopard Mac:
You will be able to access email, calendar and contacts on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided your browser is reasonably up-to-date.
You will not be able to sync contacts or bookmarks from a pre-Lion Mac.
You will be able to enter the server settings for email manually in the Mail application and access your email. A pictorial instruction page on doing this is here.
You will not be able to sync your calendars directly.
Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point. BusyCal is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion.
There appears to be no method of syncing contacts (though Address Book on a Mac can be synced with Google or Yahoo address books - I don't know how reliable this is)

  • Most recent update to Photoshop CC and Bridge breaks use with snow leopard. need previous vsn

The most recent version of Bridge CC installed with adobe's updater killed my systems year long use of Bridge CC so it won't load.  I need the previous version.  I can't update to 10.7 for technical and other software workflow reasons.  How can I get back to the previous vsn that did work yesterday?

I would guess you need to uninstall bridge cc and then reinstall without applying the 6.1 update
(use the uninstaller in /Applications/Adobe Bridge CC)
You can download Bridge CC direct from here
Download New Adobe CC Trials: Direct Links (no Assistant/Manager) | ProDesignTools
And the Bridge cc 6.0.1 update from here any others you might need
(don't install the 6.1 bridge cc update, because that is the update that breaks bridge on 10.6.8)
All the Adobe CC Updates: The Direct Download Links for Mac OS | ProDesignTools
Be sure you follow the directions where it says Note: Very Important Instructions or the links won't work.

  • LaCie eSATA update/driver for use with Snow Leopard

is there one? I really need to work at the speed of SATA and this is killing me!!!! HELP!!!

No disrespect to you personally but we have no way of knowing what you might consider obvious. As often as not, when someone neglects to mention what they have already tried to solve a problem in an initial post, it turns out that they have overlooked trying something many of us would consider obvious, so experience has taught us to start there.
Beyond that, a lot of users are apparently just too lazy or lack the skill to look for answers on their own, not even bothering to search these forums for existing discussions relevant to their issue before firing off a terse post much like yours (lots of extra punctuation & some all caps shouting for emphasis but little info). That sort of thing strongly suggests that they haven't tried the obvious, whether it is true or not.
As it turns out, if you search this forum for "eSATA driver" you will find some very relevant topics in the top results, so you might want to check them out now.

  • Can icloud be used with snow leopard

I didn't see this referenced here on the community board, so I'm assuming I have to upgrade to OSX Lion before icloud will work. Is this true?

    I'm afraid it is.

  • External Hard Drive with Snow Leopard/Windows 7

I just bought a 500GB external HD that I would like to be able to use with Snow Leopard AND Win 7. I won't be using it for any Time Machine backups. I just want to be able to read/write files on it with both Leopard and Win 7.
Is there any recommended format procedures in order to be able to do this. I may be wrong, but I don't think I can read/write to my external Time Machine external hard drive with my Windows lap top running Win 7.

a TM drive must be formatted mac os extended and windows can't even read that without extra software like Mac Drive. It also requires that the partition scheme be GUID which it's most likely not at the moment so repartition the drive with correct partition scheme now if you do decide to use it for TM in the future. also, snow bootcamp drivers once you install them in windows will let you red (but not write) to mac os extended formatted drives.
the only FS which is natively read+write from both OS X and windows is FAT. but it's very old and has many deficiencies especially on the OS X side.
    but it's good for interoperability.
or you can format the drive NTFS and use some software like NTFS-3g or NTFS for mac by paragon to make it writable from OS X.
you may also wish to split the drive in two partitions and format them differently.

  • FCE version 3.5 compatible with Snow Leopard?

I have a new Mac Pro running OS 10.6.2. Does anyone know whether Final Cut Express (version 3.5) is compatible with Snow Leopard? I really like that this version has Live Type and Soundtrack, which is why I want to install it, instead of upgrading to version 4. Thanks.

I believe FCE4 is technically the only version supported by Apple for use with Snow Leopard. (I'm sure Tom will correct me if I'm wrong!) That being said, many people have found that it still works.
If you upgrade to FCE4, the projects from the old version will work fine. However, you will not be able to open any FCE4 projects in your old FCE3.5 (you probably wouldn't want to anyway).

  • So, the least problematic all-in-one with Snow Leopard is....?

Like many of you, I've had nothing but trouble with printing/scanning since installing Snow Leopard, and Lexmark has been no help at all with updating drivers. I've reinstalled their supposedly updated-for-S-L driver at least 10 times now, and I'm sick of it.
What's the consensus as to the least problematic printer/scanner to use with Snow Leopard?

I have a Canon at home and an Epson Artisan 800 at work. No problems at all with either of them with printing or scanning.
The Epson was a recent purchase so it's only run on Snow Leopard, but the Canon is over a year old and never had a problem after installing SL.

  • Network Accounts used on Lion computers no longer work with Snow Leopard computers.

I am having issues with my network users who have once used a computer with Lion on it joined to the network then going to use a Snow Leopard workstation and Google Chrome and Safari crash randomly either at the first 30 seconds or typing a space or backspace character.

I am also facing this situation with a 2007 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac Mini that is running OS 10.7.4 Lion, which is not upgradable to Mountain Lion because it requires 64 bit processsing, while the Mini is limited to 32 bit. Why is Pages suddenly crippled? I've never seen anything like this. Somehow, Pages was upgraded to 4.2 and now it no longer runs even though I have upgraded to your last latest OS before Mountain Lion. What gives, Apple? I've spent thousands on your products over the years, from an Apple IIgs, IIci, Mac 6100, 7100, iMac, and on through my two iPad and five iPhones. We customers deserve an explanation, not the silent treatment. Fix this.

    Hello, lustige luka.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The Personal Hotspot feature using USB  should be as simple as connecting the device to your Mac via the USB cable when Hotspot is enabled.  Here is some more information regarding this feature and an article that will provide some troubleshooting steps if you are experiencing an issue.

  • What has suddenly gone wrong with Facetime? I'm using OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.3

What has suddenly gone wrong with Facetime? I'm using OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.3

No, cannot revert to the original. Suddenly this new Facetime was imposed on me and it doesn't work. It's okay on a year old MacBook Pro, and it's ok in the iPhone 4S. Just not ok on the imac running on 10.6.3. Cannot try OS update suggested because I am currently 300 miles from the Mac and travelling so will have to wait until I get back. Reluctant to install mavericks because of all the complaints I have seen about incompatibilities. Appreciate the business reasons for constant OS updates, but businesses themselved would always rather remain with tried ant trusted software. I stopped using iMovie entirely because suddenly a new version was imposed that required re-leaening the whole process.

I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion.  Then I found out it was not compatible with my HP Printer (HP Photosmart C5580 all-in-one) so I called Apple support and the tech told me to erase the hard drive instead of going in the time machine.  Well I did that and then it took about three hours three days a week for about three weeks on the phone with an apple tech to get all my stuff back on my computer.  I have had trouble with my printer (won't do the scan anymore and wasn't printing on my DVDs.  Also the computer keeps freezing up when it is in the sleep mode, etc.
When I tried to list my problem on this forum it lists your OS at the bottom and mine had Mountain Lion listed as what I was using so apparently it didn't erase it.  Want to know how to get Mountain Lion off and put my Snow Leopard on so things start working right.

Go to the  menu/About This Mac - what OS version shows there?
Do a backup, preferably 2 separate ones on 2 separate drives.
Revert to a Previous OS X
    Revert to Snow Leopard
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.
