IPhone 5 (v7.1.2) Calendar Doesn't have 'plus' sign

Hello! I am using the iPhone 5, version 7.1.2 (there is an update available, but I have read that it is hurting a lot of phones, so I am skipping it thus far). Regardless of that, I am unable to create events on my Calendar. The reason being that the simple step of tapping the 'plus' sign is not an option. The symbol is there, but it is grayed out no matter what I do. I don't prefer to sync with my iCloud or any other source, but I even attempted that, and the 'plus' sign is still not an option. I truly prefer to just add events on my phone. I only got the iPhone 5 recently, and this is the first time I am attempting to create an event, so I don't know if any software upgrade caused this malfunction.

'Locked' can have two meanings. It can mean locked to a specific carrier (service provider); if you want to unlock it to use it with another carrier only the original carrier can unlock it.
More likely you are talking about the other meaning, where a phone is 'Activation Locked'. Is this a second-hand (used) phone? If it is, and the previous owner has set up Activation Lock, this will prevent you doing anything with the phone at all.
If this is the case, only the previous owner can unlock it, either by giving you his Apple ID and password, or by removing it from his list of devices - details here:

If you can't contact the previous owner to get him to do this you will be unable to use the phone. Only he can unlock it: Apple cannot do it for you.

It probably means that you do not have "Calendars" selected in iPhone>Settings>iCloud.

Help! My calendar doesn't have preferences!

So... I have a friend with iPhone and I noticed his calendar was multicolored... different appointments in different colors. But mine just makes everything purple. So I asked him how to change that, as I had looked through the Calendar program and couldn't find a way. He said I could set up my Google calendar to sync with my iPod Touch and that should make the preferences button show up.
Well, I set up a Google calendar, had it sync, saw an event appear... but no preferences tab. No way to edit colors or anything! I'm so confused. Is my software defective? Is my iPod Touch defective? Will somebody please help me!

The different color mean different calendars, like for Work and another one for Home. You can't create another calendar on the iPod but if you create another calendar on you syncing computer, or other calender you sync with, it will appear on the iPod.

Iphone sync with Google holiday calendar doesn't work

I have an iphone with IOS 5.1.1 and I'm using Gmail for email, contacts, etc.
I have already synced my Google calendar with the iPhone Cal and it's working fine. I'm trying now to sync the Google holidays calendars with he iPhone, and it's not working. The holiday calendar appears in the list checked , but the holiday itself doesn't appear in the calendar (June 7th is holiday, and it appears in the web and in the iCal in the MAC). I've done the same procedures for my iPad and it worked... The same happens with the birthdays calendar... Any help?

Read your patent law carefully. Unless you come up with a new kind of screw head, use of a particular screw cannot be patented. If the screw is a certain length make it a hair longer or shorter or move it a hair over to make it legal. What you are doing at this point is marketing a device that has a design patent on it and it doesn't take much of a change to change the design.
If you make the screw longer it's to hold tighter. If you make it shorter it's to make taking it apart easier. There are a zillion ways around a patent. Just ask the people in China.
Just make it and sell it, because the guy who invented the WeedEater (sp?) got slammed in court when he tried to defend his patents.

After trying to upgrade my iPhone to 3.0, it now doesn't have any service.

I have the 1st gen iPhone, and tried to update to 3.0 and now I keep getting error codes on iTunes saying that there is an unknown error occured with iTunes, to try again later. Now my phone has no service and can only be used in emergency mode. In the iTunes store, it will show that my phone is connected, but will not pull up any information at all for it. I tried uninstalling iTunes, and then reinstalling it, and still the same thing. It's like my phone has been completely wiped clean. Someone PLEASE help!!!! I don't know what else to do.

IPAD 3 Calendar doesn't have the Add Invitees option. It keeps disappearing

I synch my calendar through iCLOUD. But lately for some reason the option to Add invitees when I create a new event on my iPAD 3's calendar is not there. It seems to be disappering. Same issue last week and I turned off Calendar in my iCLOUD settings on ipad and then when I turned it back on, the option was there. But this week it has disappeared again. The solution last week is not working this week. Thoughts????

Thanks, actually i already read this in other tread. But i think this is a bug and apple need to solve this on upcoming ios releases... Because if you put the toggle again on the off position, the button desapears again..

The plus sign button to add new events in iCal on my iPhone is missing.

On the top, to the right of "All Calendars" there is a plus sign that is used to add events. On my 4GS I have that and a "Calendars" button. On my husband's 3GS, those buttons are missing, making it impossible to add events to his calendar. Both phones have been upgraded to iOS5.
In Settings under Calendars the phones have the following choices:
New Invitation Alerts - Both phones - both set 'on'
Sync - only on his phone - set to 'All Events'
Time Zone Support - Both phones
Default Alert Times - Both Phones
Default Calendar - my phone only - set on Calendar (as opposed to Home, Work or Untitled)
Can anyone tell me how to fix this so he can add events to his calendar?

Go to Settings>iCloud>Calendar>On. Toggle it on and off. Leave it on if you want to sync with iCloud but then don't sync with your computer or you may get duplicate entries.

You can do this in iCloud calendars, actually. You just can't do it directly on the device. But, if you go to icloud.com & edit the calendar event, you can select "Custom" from the dropdown for Repeat & it will let you put in "every 4 wks on saturday" or even "every 28 days." But, again, you'd have to be using iCloud & you can only do this on the website.

Sorry, missed that fact. My memory is good, but short.
Try moving the "Calendar Cache" file to your Desktop. Quit iCal, and find the "Calendar Cache" file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars. Move that file to your Desktop. After that, (I remember that I recommended this before), as long as you are moving files to the Desktop, repeat the plist removal procedure once again, log out/in or restart.
You should also consider removing the "To Do's" from Mail before restarting iCal. When you open iCal turn off "Show Birthdays calendar" in iCal>Preferences...>General.
Are you syncing any data? If so, what method(s) are you using?

I create a new calendar on My mac and share with my wife's mac. She accepts the sharing but the calendar doesn't show up on her Calendar or her iPhone.

How can I add a new calendar to my Mac and share it with my wife's Mac. I execute the normal process and she receives the email and accepts sharing but the new calendar doesn't show up on her mac or iPhone.

I would point out that I did say...
Of course the Contacts List has to have people listed in it.
The Error seems to be that you have not even got an My Card.
The OS when the computer is brand new and you set up the first Admin Account should create at least once Card entry for the Address Book/Contacts which has the Head and Shoulders icon (the My Card)
The does presume the the first account on the Mac doers have a person's First name and Last name to work with.
Of course not everyone sets things up this way.
Anyhow
To Check the Contacts List open the app.
Go to the Preferences.
Go to the Accounts section.
This should list at least two "accounts
One is for Syncing with iCloud and the other is for storing the Info on the Mac itself
In System Preferences > iCloud you can only set up one Apple ID to be the iCloud ID.
If you do or have changed this you may have extra accounts in the Contacts > Preferences > Accounts

IPad Calendar doesn't sync back to iCloud nor Mac

Hello all,
I have a strange issue that, since a few days, the iPad-based, iCloud-linked calendar doesn't sync back to iCloud. Hence, for that reason, the calendar on the Mac isn't in sync, and this is, as you can guess, pretty annoying. iPad runs iPhone OS 6.1, and the Mac runs Snow Leopard. I manually configured the calendar portion of iCloud as indicated, and sync between iCal (Mac) and iCloud doesn't suffer any delay.
Additional information: when initially reinstalled, the iPad has two sets of calendars: one locally synced with the Mac, the other being iCloud, and there's overlap between the two, thanks to this pesky sync problem. I really appreciate the convenience of iCloud, but can't go without the safety of local sync. I may go days without manually syncing the iPad with iTunes but still, iCal is my lifeline, and any defect in keeping updated or worse, losing events will result in serious profesional consequences. It already happened in the days before iCloud.
iCloud-related information: my Apple ID is an email that has been dead for years. Since I used it heavily before the mailing privider ceased activities, I couldn't practically restart from scratch, so I am currently using this "fossil" login along with an updated Yahoo contact adress, and recently added an @me.com adress from iCloud. The latter is the adress is the one used to connect to iCloud's calendar from iCal, and works nicely.
However, the iPad, despite being configured with iCloud natively, doesn't update. I restarted it, but since the most up-to-date calendar is on the iPad and un-synced, so far I didn't try deleting and re-adding iCloud to the iPad as it would delete events added since.
What could cause the iPad to lose sync with iCloud, and how to solve that and prevent it from happening again?

David, nice to hear from you again, hope you are well.
This user tip might help you understand how accounts work with Address Book.
I believe you have duplicates because you have two sets of contacts. "iCloud" and "On My Mac". Once you have created all your contacts in the iCloud account, you should delete them from On My Mac.
You can move contacts simply by dragging and dropping from one account to the other, you don't need to export them all to the desktop (although doind so will serve as a good back up if all goes wrong). You should note that this copies them though rather than simply move them, so you'll need to delete the old set when you are done.
As for preserving groups from the On My Mac Account, you can't but you can simplify recreating them by copying contacts (drag and drop) from an on my mac group to an empty group in iCloud.
Not sure about the contacts that you are struggling to move.
Many aspects of iCloud are difficult to understand, have a mull through what I've said so far and come back if everything still doesn't fall into place.
