IPhone 5 went from MD to ND model, is it refurb?
So I bought an iphone 5 on launch day, just returned it to apple. came in the white box but i know that doesnt mean refurb. we went through 2 iphones before i found one in flawless condition. but i did notice some wear near lightning connecting port on the phone, and a small scratch so small that it doesnt even matter. it gets covered in an otterbox regardless. Looked up specs from chimpunk, it was a week 38 (september) phone with a MD model number made at foxcon, but on the iphone general>about it now gives an ND model number. serial number starts DNPJ. its running 6.0.
your thoughts? i know its an issue. apple states they do not provide refurb phones, at least thats what the associate told me but i dont believe him
no bashing on apple, employee was very nice and was willing to work with me. receiving a refurb would mean my lack of knowledge, even though i have done a bit of research on this
It might be a refurb.
Read the warranty.
All manufacturers of electronic devices do the same thing.

Of course it's not the quick fix lol. Sorry that didn't work for you, that is the only setting I'm aware that would cause that behavior. Hopefully someone else will assist if they know of another way that may happen. The next thing I would recommend is backing up the iPhone and then doing a reset.

My iPhone storage went from a certain amount to another within 2 minutes. Why?
Last night, i deleted some stuff off my phone. Texts, 330 pictures, and some apps. I had about 650 MB worth of storage left and used about 12.1 GB. Then within 2 minutes, it went from 650 MB available to 394 MB available. Why is that?

I had over 200 e-mails. I went to my webmail and deleted most of them. However, my iPhone still shows 200 e-mails. How can I force my iPhone to update from the e-mail server? Or will I have to delete each e-mail from my iPhone as well? Thanks.
You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

iPhone 4 went into recovery mode when trying to restore it. Now the only option iTunes allows is for "restore & upgrade", it is not offer an option to restore from a backup, says that must first do the upgrade, when attempting to do the upgrade the iPhone won't accept it.
How can I restore from a back up in recovery mode when the only option is "restore and upgrade"?

So recently my iphone went from 7gb available space to 185 mb available space, I know for a fact that im not using up this much space

Is anything out of wack in comparison to what you are syncing to the phone? If the Other category is in the multi-gigabyte range, you may have some or rust files on the phone. Best way to resolve that issue is to do a Restore.

I just went from an iPhone 4 to a 5. I stored my contacts on icloud with my 4, then on my 5 I turned contacts off and on to merge them but it only added the last 10 or so contacts I created. What gives?

I've read that because of the way they handle files, SSDs go slow over the time unless you apply protocols to handle the empty space. I noticed in a USB thumbdrive (Sandisk Extreme USB 3.0 64GB) that ovet the time and use it went from speeds around 250mb/s to about 10, I formated (full format, not a quick erase) it and it again performs properly. I have a old iPhone 4 that became very very slow over the time, more than what I would expect from it not keeping up with iOS 7. Could it be happening something like this? Maybe formating it from the ground up would speed it up a bit (ultimately is the same kind of memory holding the OS).
Is there a way to format it like that?

It is possible to reset your iPhone back to its original settings using iTunes. See this article for the procedure -

Duplicate entries after syncing. My phone went from about 125 contacts to 1,965. Some contacts are duplicated 30 times! Tried deleting the contacts and resyncing- same thing. I don't use Mobile me. My contacts are synced through my google account. I tried syncing through outlook and there were 0 contacts on my phone. Its a 3G so some of the functions like making groups are not available. Please HELP!!!
and i guess i should mention i bought it at best buy and they ported my phone #'s from my google phone and when i got home i sync'ed it with itunes and it doubled my contacts.

My iphone 5c went black screen and it still can cut on and off and it went black screen when i was on facetime with a friend and could still talk to them perfectly fine. What is the cheapest way to get it fixed or can i fix it myself without any money? I also didnt have the chance to back up my data because it went black screen out of now where.

Try these steps:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
