IPhone 5: when I try to call one of my contacts, it tries to send an email instead

Just got an iPhone 5; when I try to call one of my contacts, the phone defaults to sending an email to the number instead. Is there a default I need to turn off?

go to a contact> edit the contacts> erase the number that your trying to call and see if in the box it says email

Hello,
After updating my iphone 3Gs to version 4.2 when I tried to call numbers in Home or Work fields it opens the email application instead dials the selected phone numbers.
When I try to edit these fields in my phone agenda, instead phone number fields they are e-mail fields.
How can I fix this?

The tags "Home" and "Work" are used for both telephone numbers and e-mail addresses. You must have entered the telephone numbers in the e-mail address boxes. There is no quick fix for this. You either have to go through each contact where the number has been incorrectly entered and move it to the correct field or do the same thing in whatever application you sync your iPhone contacts with on your computer (which will probably be quicker) and then re-sync.

I was informed that I should be able to FaceTime from my laptop via video call without an iPhone.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
1. The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
2. Connect to a different network, such as a public Wi-Fi hotspot, and try again.

When you right-click on the name of your phone you should see these options (where "iPhone" is the name of your phone):

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I would check with the Auto dealer where the vehicle was purchased to check and see when the bluetooth software was last updated on your vehicle. With the vehicle being a 2011 and if the software has not been updated since the dropping of IOS 7 then obviously there will be software incompatibilities.

Never heard of that. I suspect it thinks that's an email address and you're seeing that screen b/c you don't have an email account setup on your iPhone.
Assuming the number is valid, try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

When I get on my ipod and press the app "text free" I can text, but when I try to call I get something that says "Still connecting to the voice network and to try later. This has been there for days and my daughters can call on theirs.

As I said in the subject line, I can receive video calls with no problem. But when I try to call somebody, I eiither get a "failed call" or a "not on line." Yes I know the person must be on line, but what's with the failed call? Somebody please help.

If you mean you hacked it as opposed to an official carrier unlock (since it must have been carrier locked in order for you to need to unlock it), then you're on your own.
There's no telling what's wrong with it now that you've done that.

Ever have iPhone crash when you try to delete Keyboard Shortcut

When I goto Settings > General > Keyboard and then under "Shortcuts" when I try to delete one of them and only a spesific one, the iPhone crashes and goto he homescreen (First Springboard) . Well, if your profile information is correct (iPhone 4S with iOS 6.1.4), then your device is jailbroken. 6.1.3 is the highest available for iPhone 4S.
Check your information; don't 'assume' that you have the newest iOS. Go to Settings > General > About, and see what is says next to 'Version'.

Did you try to open teh fle by double-clicking its icon? If the file was made with an older version of Office, you may get that message. Try opeing PP and, from its "File" menu, see if you can open the ppt. I've foundthat often gets around that message and then yo ucan save the file from the newer version.

PowerPoint is not an Apple product and it seems a lot of people around here avoid Office.
