IPhone 5 Wifi Passwords not working: Unable to Join

I have an iPhone 5 OS 6.0.2 and am unable to join wifi networks except the one at home. What should be my first step? Restore from backup or reset network? How do I reset the network? (I hesitate to do that in case I then have trouble joining my home wifi.)
Will reset network also reset my carrier's network?
When I got this phone I used my 3GS iPhone to transfer all data.
When I first got my iPhone 5 it had trouble even connecting to my carrier's network. I would get a no service and then it would connect to my carrier after a few seconds. I got a new iPhone and it did the same thing and it is still doing it. Is my wifi issue related to this issue?

Go ahead and try to reset your network settings first. You can do that by going to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. This will make your phone restart, and delete any wifi networks listed in your phone. After your phone restarts, see if you can connect to your wifi at home. If you can, try those other networks. If not, you may want to try backing up and restoring your device. If THIS fails, you probably need a repair done through your warranty.

The problem would seem to be in the firewall in your router. Have you tried disabling it? I assume you've updated the router firmware, right? Consider bypassing the ISP provided router (using it as a modem only) and unsing another device such as an Aiport Express.

I am not computer expert it happen to me. I think it is not working for a touch on/ off so you have to push using your finger and hold and open to the right (like when you open a door). That worked for me I call it mannual opening. I did not get any help so I figured out the hard way.Let me know but I am for sure

I got a MacBook Pro today. The previous owner had Apple wipe it clean for the new owner, me. When I first tried putting my wifi password in, I wasn't remembering exactly what it was, so I tried many different possibilities. Since then, I found my password in my office. I put it in, when it asked for it. But, it's not taking it. It just says searching for networks. And, this is after I identified the correct network. So, I am wondering if perhaps after a number of "tries" does it not accept ANY further attempts ? You know like Banking passwords....you get locked out. I'm wondering if I'm locked out?

No, not like a bank timeout.
Open keychain in your Utilities Folder and look for old router password, or delete wrong passwords.
You can always reset your router password to something new that you can remember.

We need more info to troubleshoot. What do you mean by "not working?" Wireless switch is on? Home router or public networks? Please be more detailed in describing your issues.

IPhone - SMTP - No Password - Not Working

I am attempting to set up my work email on my iPhone. I have having a problem with the SMTP options on the iPhone.
The problem comes in that the SMTP server we use does not require a password. When I set up the iPhone to not use a password (which by the way states is optional on the menu) and send an email I get this error:
"Cannot Send Mail
No password provided for user "[email protected]" on server "smtp.domain.net".
Please go to Mail Account Settings and enter a password."
How do I force the iPhone to not use a password?

IPhone 4S Wifi is not working! Cant switch on and If it does it wont connect!

Ever since I updated to the iOS 7.0.3, my WIFI (what i need the most as my data plan is only 3GB), wont connect/find my internet router or/and it wont switch on.
I have restarted the phone, restarted the network settings, restored the iPhone, Disconnected my router and re connected, and still NOTHING WORKS.
Im out of warranty. Its not a hardware problem... its deffinetly the software...
What eles is there to do?

I am using iphone 4s, suffering from the same wifi greyed out problem, this is preposterous. this issue has been goin on from almost an year and till now there is no response from Apple, at least they could given an explanation to their customers. I am really surprised as i thought Apple was different from the rest; but sorry to say not anymore.
Its really terrible to have a phone without a wifi. Can someone please help!
Some guys posted a video on youtube, where they show how this problem can be solved using a hair dryer.
It does help but then again the problem keeps on coming, it would connect for a while and then the wifi signal goes away from the phone. Really ****** off and dissapointed with Apple.

IPhone 4S : Wifi Password not accepting + iTunes won't backup the iPhone

Am using a MBP 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo , 8 Gb Ram and running 10.8.3 Mountain Lion.
My issue is that after an update to iOS 6.1.2 , my iPhone 4S can't join my Home Wifi. The Error I get is Password is incorrect. All other iPhones and iPads and Macs at home login without an issue.
The next issue that started is that my iPhone syncs changes with iTunes, but is not able to do a backup. I get an error "iTunes could not backup xx because an error occurred."
2 huge issues - I can't get wifi and I can't upgrade to the new 6.1.3 in hope of solving some of these issues.
I can't do a clean install without taking a backup, since I'll lose all my Messages - SMS
HELP ... This is driving me crazy and I can't find a fix anywhere

Use the app My Contacts Backup, which will back up your contacts as an attachment to an email. Send this email to yourself. At any point in the future you can open this email on your phone and tap the attachment to re-import the contacts to your phone. (If you get a new phone, send the email to yourself from your computer and open it on your new phone to import the contacts.
Alternatively, if your contacts are in Address Book you can open Address Book, click on any single contact, go to Edit>Select All (Command-A) to select all contacts, go to File>Export>Save as vCard and save this on your desktop. Then email this file to your phone and tap the attachment to import the contacts.

This issue requires a hardware repair. Restoring the phone will not fix the greyed out wi-fi. This is a know issue with the iPhone 4s. So basically you need to take in for service

Most likely the issue would be with the router settings or configuration. Wi-Fi routers need adjustments to settings periodically for optimized performance with the constant progression of wireless device technology. Below, I have included two articles. If those 5 steps don't fix it, the iPhone will need service.

thanks, but what if i restore my iphone using itunes, will it help me? actually i brought this phone from australia and now i am using it in india and it is factory unlocked.. so if i restore it to factory setting then shall i have to go through factory unlock process again or my phone will stay activated for indian telecom network?
