Iphone 5 won't charge after being dead for three days.

Iphone 5 won't charge after being dead for three days due to power cable breaking. I got a new cable and it still will not charge. Is my phone broken in any way? What can I do to fix this?

Hey TalkBack12,
These are the recommended troubleshooting steps I found for when your battery does not charge:
Battery does not charge
Verify that the outlet being used is working.
Try another USB power adapter if available.
If no other USB power adapter is available, try connecting to a high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode.
Try another USB cable if available.

Since you got a new cable, I would concentrate on trying a cable other than the new one.

iphone 4s won't charge after updated to ios 6.1.3
Different adapters and usbs have been tried, and now power has been drained.
Apple support says there is nothing they can do about it, and they surggested me to pay 199 for a new iphone.
Is there anybody having the same problem?

Seems to work ok after i connect it to itunes but then the next day i have to do it again.

  • IPhone 6 won't charge after 8.02 update

    Hi,
Since the 8.02 update my iPhone 6 won't charge from any of my 3rd party cables and will only charge using the apple cable; despite my 3m cable being "apple approved" and the battery indicator showing its charging on the phone, the power still goes down even while it's plugged in and it's saying the phone is charging. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue since the update? All chargers are working fine on my iPad running 7.1.2 and worked fine while I was using 8.01 on my phone however since updating to 8.02 the only charger that seems to work is the official apple one which I'd rather not use as they aren't long enough. Any help would be appreciated.

For the iPhone 4S, Apple seems to have used a faulty WiFi chip which in some cases seems not to be able to handle the load of the iOS. This can lead to overheating issues which can eventually cause a hardware failure
As customers in good faith we bought this product
We paid a large amount of money  (I paid some $800 last year) since we believed we bought a quality product in the believe we could use it -with good care of course- for at least 2, 3 or even 4 years to come
We upgraded the firmware from iOS 5 or 6 to iOS 7 since Apple advised us to do so (as is very obvious from the constant messages in the settings menu of the iPhone and in iTunes)
We followed all the regular procedures as advised by Apple in the upgrade
There is no way how Apple could hold us responsible for having done a 'wrong' installation, making us responsible for our own actions.
Apple has been aware for over a year the Apple 4S WiFi chip is not reliable (A Google search on iPhone 4S Wifi greyed out will proof my point) and was therefor fully aware this "greyed out" problem - which also occurred when iOS 6 was introduced, might very likely occur again with the introduction of iOS 7.
Since Apple did not inform her customers of this risk the customers were not given the choice to either upgrade (knowing the risks) or staying with the previous (working) version.
Apple does not enable the users to return to the previous version of iOS, and even if Apple would allow the users to return to a previous version, there is a great risk the hardware has become seriously damaged already in the upgrade to iOS 7, making this not a feasible option.
As result of this us, we, customers are now stuck with an unusable iPhone for which we paid plenty of money and so support from Apple whatsoever in solving this issue.
I feel that Apple should take their responsibility and help her customers in solving this quality issue.
( One thing I am sure of, if Apple would be a car manufacturer or an airplane manufacturer they would never get away with this, and would be forced to do a recall)
    My message to Apple:
You know thousands of your customers are affected by this fault. It is now time to act. Taking responsibility never hurts (even if you for some reason feel you are not fully to blame) It gives you credit. And credit gives you loyal customers.

  • Phone won't charge after running dead

My blackberry torch seems to be a bit faulty in some way at the min , I've recently purchased several batteries for the phone, all of which working perfectly when I leave the shop, when home I charge them up to full and use it as normal no problems. I continue to use the phone until it completely  runs out of charge but when it comes to charging it again it shows a battery with a Red Cross through it and after reading other comments of just leaving it to charge I did that but nothing happened so went back to the shop they tested the battery only to find it completely unuseable and me having to  buy a new one. Now this has happened to me a few times and I don't want to purchase any more until the problem is solved so is there anybody that couldn't help me solve my problem please ?

The likely problem is that "on device" battery is deeply drained.
Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the charging cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage). If it doesn't reboot on the first attempt, leave it several more hours. I've had one charge for two days before it came back to life after an extreme battery depletion. Every 3-4 hours, with the device still connected to the charger, you can remove and replace the battery to see if it reboots.

  • My iPod won't turn on or charge after being dead and smashed for over a year!

I Dropped my iPod 5th gen over a year or two ago, it smashed. I left it in my drawer for a while and it died, when I go to charge it nothing happens, there is no sign of it turning on or even charging, what do I do now?

Connect the iPod for at least 15min to the adapter, then try to connect in recovery mode, explained in this article:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
If this does not work, you'll have to get it replaced by paying the Out-Of-Warranty-Service fee:
    iPod touch 16 GB (5th gen. Mid 2013) $99
    iPod touch 16 GB (5th gen.) $99
    iPod touch 32 GB (5th gen.) $149
    iPod touch 64 GB (5th gen.) $149

  • IPhone 4S Won't Charge After iOS7 Update

After installing ios7 update my phone fails to charge properly.
When on: plug in charger : 'this device may not be supported' --- my option? 'dismiss'
on every plug in this message appears.
When off: battery icon appears when charger is plugged in, after 3 seconds fades to black, on pressing home button it shows battery icon again.
I've tried all solutions provided to me by phone technical support, no help.
My phone currently charges to 3-5% when left off, comes back to life when turned on, but doesn't hold charge for more than 5 min and dies.
When plugged into mac/itunes everything works exept charging.
    I've tried other cables/chargers, nothing
Also no longer supports my fm car transmiter that I purchased 'this device may not be supported' --- my option? 'dismiss'
The reason for buing an iphone was to have my music on the go and be able to play it/record my creative ideas: now it has become a paper weight and source of frustration.
I will be taking it in to an apple dealer today to check if its a hardware issue, but there have been no hardware problems or any damage before or after ios7 instal.
    Questions:
how do i get it to charge? how do i get it to support my purchased iphone accesories?

I have a similar problem.  I have an iPhone 4s that was working perfectly.  Almost immediately upon upgrading to iOS7 I noticed that the battery began to drain much quicker.  This morning when I tried to recharge the battery it would not recharge.  I followed brad805's suggestions.  When I took it to the Genius Bar they attempted to remove the battery and directly power the phone from a cable and that did not work.  The phone is now completely dead and because it is past the one year warranty period, there is little that the people at the Apple Store can do to help me. I took very good care of the phone when I owned it and there were no incidents to the phone in the time since I upgraded to iOS7.  I strongly believe that the upgrade to iOS7 is the contributing factor to this phone failure.
Is there a mechanism to register a complaint with Apple?  I understand that phones fail from time to time but based on the posts I am seeing on the internet, I fear that there are additional instances like mine.

  • My iPhone 4 won't charge after iOS7 update

    Dear all,
I gave my perfectly functioning iPhone 4 to my girlfriend with iOS 6.1.3 installed. After upgrade to iOS 7 we encountered a lot of problem with the battery charging. I will try to describe them (please keep in mind that I have already tried different cables/rechargers/connecting it to different computers etc etc...)
    1) When the iPhone is on it just wont recharge.
    2) When there is battery left, I switch the iPhone off and I plug it the recharger, it just wont recharge.
    3) When the battery is completely drained and the phone is off I can recharge the phone a little bit! just untill the Iphone switches on automatically, than the recharging stops.
Because the recharging can take place in some "exotic" circumstances I believe that everything with the hardware is working. I suspect the upgrade wo iOS 7 is the main suspect.
    Any thoughts/suggestion is welcome.
    Andrea

    Update
I went to the Apple store today and informed them of my issue with the iOS7 on my 4S. They diagnose the problem as a hardware issue not a software issue (The charging dock/area inside the phone where the charger connects was busted). So apparently to them, my phone was already "going to break" and it had no relations to iOS7. They also told me that it sometimes just happens - hardware malfunctions/problems. Since my phone wasn't under warranty (1 year 3 months, slightly over) my phone cannot be replaced & they told me I have to purchase a replacement b/c unfortunately that part - battery dock thing - cannot be replaced on the 4S but apparently can be on the 5. Also I overheard that the wifi issue where its greyed out is also a hardware issue and the phone needs to be replaced. This all sounds bogus to me. Too much of a coincidence in my opinion, but sadly enough my warranty is over and now I'm just ****** that I have to replace my phone. (Iphone 4S replace -200 dollars, 90 day warranty OR purchase the iPhone 5C/5S instead) Learned my lesson, buy the Apple+ for stupid situations like this. I'm still ****** at the fact that my phone literally died after the iOS7 update, great timing. Never updating again.

  • My iPhone 4s won't charge and its dead

My power button is broken and my iPhone 4s just died, also it stopped charging. I can't get an upgrade until October 2015. Please help!

It may be possible that the phone will no longer charge because of the charger itself not functioning properly. I would recommend trying other chargers and other power sources. If that doesn't resolve the issue it definitely sounds like a battery or device hardware issue.
Considering the iPhone 4s is an older phone and judging by your upgrade date. It may actually still be under warranty. You phone comes with a 1 year limited hardware warranty with Apple and you may be able to get it repaired for no cost if it is no longer working.
    I recommend starting here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/repair/battery-power/
If you have anymore problems contact apple Support at the link after starting a service request. And advisor would be happy to check your eligibility and explain your options in depth.

  • My iPhone 4S won't charge after iOS7 update

I updated to iOS7 yesterday and everything seemed alright until 1 day later. My battery went from 70% something straight to 1% out of nowhere. I left it charging on my wall charger and came back 1-2 hours later and it was still at 1%! I knew something was wrong then so I tried to turn off everything possible - i.e apps, brightness. Unfortunately, that didn't work either. I tried turning it on and off which did nothing. My phone was stuck on the "red battery" big icon. Once my iPhone connected again, I tried to restore my iPhone and now it's stuck on the charging phase - but the % doesn't go up and my computer doesn't detect my phone at all. I don't think it's charging. HELP! I have it "charging" (usb connected to comp) So far I don't see any changes. All I see is my dying phone. Come on apple, this is riduculous. Help, if anyone has the same problem and found a solution!

  • My iPhone 5c won't charge after i have updated to IOS 7.0.6. I have tried amny different outlets, cleaned the iPhone wires and stuff. But nothing won't work!

Please help, I have been buying new wires and everything but it won't work.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore.

  • Iphone 3GS won't activate after update - asks for itunes, which just quits unexpectedly every time!

I updated my iphone 3GS and now when I turn it on it just asks to be connected to itunes. Problem is when I do this, itunes unexpectedly quits every time. I've updated the laptop and it makes no difference, and I am left without a phone...really not impressed and can't wait for my upgrade to get rid of it.

    Try this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
This put's an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in recovery mode.  Should solve the problem if it is phone related.  If not, you may want to post in iTunes support as well.  I had a similar problem recently with an iPod touch and this fixed it.

  • MacBook Pro won't start after being off for two months

I had to store my MacBook Pro for two months while I was traveling and shut it down completely.  Ow that I am back it won't start up.  Figuring the battery was flat, I plugged it in.  No light came on the power cord and I wasn't able to start up the computer.  I bought a new power adapter...still nothing.  I have tried the SMC reset.  No luck.. Any ideas?

    • Already tried that.
Yes you did, and you said so in your post. Sorry - my fault I did not read the complete post.

  • Lion Recovery (Command R- reinstall Lion) Says 148 hours after being on for one day and over night

I accidently deleted some file on my computer that wouldn't let me start up my MacBook pro, 13 Inch, so I had to press Command- R at start up (brought me to Lion Recovery) and I choose reinstall lion and I started it yesterday morning and all day and over night. It's barely half way through and it says "148 Hours Left" which is crazy.. Should I just wait? is this normal? what do I do? Pleasee help someone!

It seems Apple is having problems with there servers or you have a Very Slow Internet connection. Best is to let it run as you can't use the computer anyway without the files you deleted.
There are reports of other that can not even get to the Lion download or any downloads for updates and such.

  • Slatebook 14 at 96% after being off for a night.

    Hi once again:
I just recieved my Slatebook 14 two days ago.
Runs like a top and I LOVE IT!!!
    But I have one question.
As I asked in my subject line, Is it normal for it to be at 96-98% after being shutoff for a night?
It does go to a FULL CHARGE after being on for 10 or 15 minutes.
I had one ither tablet that did something like this, And I was just wanting to make sure it was normal for this one as well.
    Thanks in advance. Ricky
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I have been doing it as in the first one.
Holding down until it says Power Off and then Selecting the Power Off option.
If that is what you mean by the First Option?
I know that it has to be shutting off at least from the Factory, Or the battery would've been completely drained when I took it out of the box, At that time it was at like 80%
But I know that is normal when first coming out of the box.
Now I just thought of something.
I have shut it off with it still plugged into the Power Pack although it's not getting power through an outlet at the time because I have it on a cart.
    Could this be it?
