IPhone 5 won't respond when charging

Ever since the 7.0.4 update, when my iphone is charging, I can't access anything.  I have to unplug it for the screen to respond.  Anyone else having this problem?

Reset the phone (no data loss): press both the home and power buttons for up to 1 minute, releasing as soon as the Apple logo appears.

  • Iphone 4s screen not responding when charging? please help.

    Hello,
I've rencently purchased an Iphone 4s. It's and incredible device that has no barriers, but one issue that is present is bewildering. WHen the phone is pluged into any power outlet in my residence the screen doesn't respond or spots responding all together, the decline in response slowly becomes more aparent as its pluged in --- . Now, if the phone is removed from the power source it continues normal funcaionality like it has no issues.
    Any thoughts?
    Jason

It's interesting that you mention this. I am currently using a third party charger & cable @ my bedside for use and charging at night. I'm going to try using the boxed apple cable and charging unit and see what occures.
    Thanks for your responses!
    Jason

  • My iPhone 4 won't verify when I plug it in to sync

my iPhone 4 won't verify when I plug it in to sync and makes the blonk sound over and over

Does it charge when plugged into an outlet with the charger?  If not you may have a bad cord or dirt in the connecting port.  See if there is any lint or dirt in the port.  Try a different cord.

Thanks for this mha007 - I can now open FF with a new profile. Can I copy my settings from the old profile or will this bring over the same problem, maybe a corrupt file. If it would bring the same problem, is there any way I can check which file is corrupt, apart from taking them over one by one?

  • MacBook Pro won't sleep when charging

My 15" i5 MacBook Pro won't sleep when charging; a reboot of the machine solves the problem temporarily, but it always recurs.  When I close the lid and listen carefully, I can hear hard drive activity; the drive sounds like it keeps spinning up every 10 seconds or so.
This is not an issue when trying to sleep when running on the battery only. Any advice?

  • Iphone overheats and shuts down when charging ?

    hello,
since i have had my iphone 4s replace in april my iphone overheats and shuts down when charging?
    can anyone help?

My 4S has recently shut down twice so far due to heat: Once in 100+ deg. in Arizona, when I left the phone in direct sunlight too long (that'll kill anything), and once just today, 96 deg. in Colorado, with the phone in my shirt chest pocket, not in direct sunlight. Each time, the phone was also encased in the hermetically sealed "Lifeproof" case, which probably contributed to heat build-up. If you're using a similar case with yours, either make sure to keep the phone in a cooler, shaded area, or just take it out of the case when the temps are this high. Definitely don't leave it in direct sunlight! In my case, although the 4S seems more heat-sensitive than my previous iPhones, I still find this behavior within acceptable parameters. But I wonder whether the overheating episodes might cause permanent damage...?

  • Iphone 3gs keeps rebooting often when charging on Kensington Dock n Belkin

I recently bought a Kensington Dock and a Belkin FM transmitter *** car charger for my Iphone 3gs (OS 4). When charging on the dock the phone keeps rebooting often. It doesnt happen if I'm just charging the phone using the regular charger OR when USB connected to the computer. Can someone advise why this happens when charging the Iphone using a Kensington dock OR belkin FM transmiter *** car charger. Both accessories are suppposed to be compatible with Iphone 3gs.

Hate to say, but if your phone has been rebooted, restored or recovered.  It sounds like a hardware issue.  Send it to the refuribish line with the rest of them.   Now i know you said you restored it.  but there are a couple other ways of doing it that might help.
    1. Reboot methods. The first thing to do is try to reboot the iPhone, which you can do by holding the top button and the home button for about ten seconds. In some cases, the iPhone is actually still on, but a bug stops the screen from displaying anything, so you can reverse the problem by doing the reboot. If you still see nothing on the screen, try to plug the iPhone in and again try the reboot methods to see if you can get the screen to display.
    2. Restoring the iPhone. If the iPhone shows up in iTunes, but it still doesn't seem to turn on, it's definitely a display problem. When rebooting fails, you can restore the iPhone from iTunes, and this should fix whatever bugs caused the original issue. Realize that you'll have to reload your music if you restore to another software version. To restore, plug the iPhone in, go into iTunes and click the iPhone's icon on the side of the select screen. Click on the restore button and agree to the prompt asking if you really want to restore the iPhone's software.
    3. Recovery mode. You can put the iPhone into recovery mode if it has a charged battery by holding down the home button before connecting it to iTunes, then continuing to hold the button until iTunes recognizes that the iPhone's in recovery mode. Recovery mode is a bare-bones way of booting the iPhone that allows you to perform a restore when you're dealing with a serious issue such as the iPhone failing to turn on or display anything on its screen.
try one of these if you havent already.  if still nothing, its time to take it in or get a new phone.

  • MBP won't sleep when charging

My 15" i5 MacBook Pro won't sleep when charging; a reset of the SMC solves the problem temporarily, but it always recurs. Interestingly, the sleep indicator light pulses as if the machine is sleeping, but I can clearly hear hard drive activity; the drive sounds like it keeps spinning up every 10 seconds or so. This is not an issue when trying to sleep when running on the battery only. Any advice?

I would just buy a wall charger for the touch and leave your MBP alone. If you really only wanted to charge it from the MBP, just make sure it doesn't sleep when plugged into the power adapter.

  • IPhone 5 won't take a charge & won't restore from backup

My iPhone 5 stopped taking a charge. So I updated to 7.whatever & backed it up. It still would take a charge so I went through recovery mode. That seemed to complete (I've done it twice now) However, the phone still won't take a charge and it won't restore from my backup. (Since the initial run through recovery mode it has never accepted the backup. It alway errors out saying the iPhone disconnected. It never disconnected physically and I've tried mutiple cables so which worn on my other iPhone so they are not the problem. If I plug the iPhone in it will cycle between on and off and never accept a charge or allow me to get through the backup process without "disconnecting" Any suggestions?

    Hello GreenLantern17,
It sounds like you are unable to charge your phone and it keeps disconnecting when you have it plugged into your computer, even though you have tried mulitple cables. If you have not already, try charging the phone with the wall adapter that came with it. If it works there,  into I recommend starting with the following USB port troubleshooting for your computer:
Remove any third-party battery packs or cases from the device and ensure that the USB cable is connected directly to the port on the device.
If your Lightning or 30-pin cable is connected to a keyboard, display or USB hub, try plugging it directly into a USB port on the computer instead.
Close any virtualization apps (such as Parallels or VMWare).
These apps may interfere with your computer's ability to communicate over USB if they aren't properly configured, or up to date. If this resolves the issue, contact the developer of the app to see if an update is available.
    Restart your computer.
Restart your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
If you're using an accessory or third-party cable to connect your device, try using an Apple cable with the device instead.
Update to the latest version of iTunes if you have not already.
Disconnect other USB devices from your computer, except for your keyboard and mouse. Then, reconnect your iOS device. If the issue is resolved, reconnect the other USB devices one at a time. Make sure your iOS device is still recognized by the computer after adding back each device.
If one of these steps resolves the issue, but it comes back later, make sure you haven't changed how the device is connected. For example, check to see if you plugged the device into a specific accessory, or used a specific cable that reintroduced the issue.

  • HT1212 iphone screen won't respond

What should I do for an iphone 4S screen that won't respond? Bring it to the Apple store or cell phone store?

    Hey kelsey413,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with the touchscreen of your iPhone 4S. The following article will help to troubleshoot this issue:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting touchscreen response
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1827
    Resolution
If your device is experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, try the following steps:
    1. Restart your device
              - Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
              - If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    2. Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
    3. Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
    4. If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see the Service FAQ for your product.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
