  • IPhone 5 from Sprint Unlocked to Verizon

Hello everyone, I was previously with Sprint and had an iPhone 5 with them which they unlocked. I switched over to Verizon and It was working fine  for about 3 weeks. However now I cannot connect to the network. Took it to the Verizon store and they told me everything was fine with their service. I was wondering how I would go about getting a replacement since the iPhone was previously with Sprint and now is unlocked. I can't go back and unlock it with Sprint because I am no longer a customer with them. What should I do ?

Michael, this was true back in the day. This information is not true with current iPhones. There is no software modification needed for a Verizon iPhone to work on Sprint and a Sprint iPhone to work on Verizon. The support for the network already exists, it is up to the carrier whether or not they will activate it.
A CDMA phone CAN be unlocked, this is up to the carrier who the phone was intended to be used with. The white house is in the process of trying to enact a new law that would require carriers to unlock phones are the consumer request. (Assuming they are not under contract.) It is not clear if this law would require carriers to activate devices from other networks, initial statements seem to indicate that they will be required to activate any device that will work on their network.
I am posting this because this discussion is one of the top hits on Google when searching for this topic. The infomation many of you keep posting over and over again is either outdated or incorrect.

  • When you restore a iPhone 4 CDMA sprint with out the SIM card how do you acvited it with out a contract ?????????

    ?????

    Hello there khraye,
This message appears when the phone is locked to a specific carrier. You will need to contact the carrier the phone is locked to:
How to unlock your iPhone for use with another carrier
    Unlock your iPhone
First, your carrier will need to process your unlock request. Then you'll back up, erase, and restore your iPhone to unlock it.
    Start the process:
See if your carrier offers unlocking. Only your carrier can unlock your iPhone.
Contact your carrier and request an unlock. You might need to meet requirements to qualify for unlocking. After you submit the request to your carrier, it might take a few days to complete. Contact your carrier for the status of your unlock request.
After your carrier confirms that your iPhone unlock has been processed, go to the next section.
If you have a SIM card from a carrier other than your current carrier, follow these steps:
Remove your SIM card and insert the new SIM card.
    Complete the setup process.
If you don't have another SIM card you can use, follow these steps to complete the process:
    Back up your iPhone.
When you have a backup, erase your iPhone.
Restore your iPhone from the backup you just made.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

I bought an iPhone 5 from the Apple store with a new Sprint contract in Sept. 2012.  I would like to know if I port my number to T-mobile and pay off my Early Termination fee with Sprint, will my iPhone 5 will be unlocked to use with T-mobile network?

As Ethmoid says, it is still a CDMA phone as I told you earlier, and it will not work with t-mobile. Even if Sprint unlocked the phone, it would only unlock the GSM side for international use. They will not unlock the GSM side for domestic use in the US.

  • I bought a unlocked canadian iphone 4s, i am going to me living in the usa can i use my unlocked iphone 4s with sprint?

i am wondering if i can use my unlocked canadian iphone 4s in the states with sprint? can the cdma be unlocked so that any company that uses cdma can support it? or is the gsm the only one that can be unlocked and used with differnt carriers that support gsm?

The ONLY way this could happen would be if the OP returned the phone within the first 30 days of purchase in the original country of purchase, then bought a new one in the US on the Sprint network.

  • Can i use my sprint unlocked iphone with verizon

i have a friend who gave me a iphone 5 from sprint and i was wondering is there anyway can i use it with verizon if the phone is factory unlocked ?

That was very nice of your friend, skinny600. In many cases, you may be able to use a 4G LTE and CDMA capable device, like the iPhone 5, from another carrier on our service. We may not be able to guarantee the same quality signal on the device since it was meant for a different service, but you can visit http://vz.to/U2wgl6 to make sure the Device ID can be activated with a new Verizon Wireless SIM. If you already have a compatible Verizon Wireless SIM, you can easily activate the phone by inserting your SIM http://vz.to/1FKbLxs to the device. If you find you'll need a new SIM, you can pick one up from a local store http://bit.ly/3SdsA.

  • How do I unlock an iphone 5 with Sprint. The SIM is in and Sprint gave me the unlock code, but what are the steps to unlock it?

    How do I unlock an iphone 5 with Sprint 15.1 at IOS 7.0.6 IMEI 99 000320 012095 0 .
The SIM is in and Sprint gave me the unlock code, but what are the steps to unlock it?

There is no such thing as an unlock code.   Sprint may have processed the unlock, and then requested you restore the iPhone using iTunes to complete it. But that's it. There is no code to enter, and nowhere to enter it any way.

  • HT4993 Can i get factory unlock my iPhone 4S at sprint carrier locked

I want my iPhone factory unlock at Sprint Carrier locked, to use any gsm carrier sim worldwide.. Is there any way to officialy unlock it

    What part of:
"No Sprint model iPhone can be officially unlocked."
    Do you not understand?
There is nothing more I can add to this thread. If you want an officially unlocked iPhone, you have the wrong model. Sell it. Don't want to do that? You're on your own
    Good luck.

I have an iPhone 4 (CDMA) that is unlocked, can I use this in Europe with a European SIM card?

An iPhone 4 CDMA is CDMA only. It doesn't have any GSM circuitry and doesn't have a SIM slot. You can only use it on the network it was originally sold for.

  • Iphone 5 sprint unlock international

    hi
i have sprint iphone 5 locked sprint carrier i contact with sprint support to unlock but they told me i have to sign in with your phone number i dont have the the number with my iphone i did'nt buy my iphone from sprint in my country we use locked iphone as ipod then if we need we unlocked since 2007 i used many iphones from at&t they unlock for free after 24h after reciving order whay sprint not doing like this
in saudi arabia most of our devices from at&t

Sprint will only unlock it for current Sprint customers in good standing.
If you are not a Sprint customer, then they will not unlock it.
Why in the world did you buy a phone locked to a carrier from another country to begin with?
Stop buying gray market imports and buy a phone in your own country from an authorized source.

  • My sprint unlocked iPhone 5 is not working in Brazil??

    HI there,
i have an used sprint unlocked iPhone 5 that was passed to me from my sister and the sprint carrier unlocked for international but when I put my SIM card from my Brazilian carrier ( Claro) is keeping saying invalid SIM card and doesnt work. So I was wondering what can I do in braxil to fix this problem?? I have been told to use iTunes.. i don't have anything in the phone that it need to be back up in iTunes.. The phone has been reset and keep saying the the SIM card is invalid?? Please help me clarify this issue.. I can provided you my imei or let me know what am I doing wrong..
thank you you very much and I am looking forward to hear from you soon..
    Elza.

If you have been told to restore the phone with iTunes, then why don't you do this? It is irrelevant whether you have data that needs to be backed up or not.
You need to restore the phone as new with iTunes in order to complete the unlock. You should get a message after the restore informing you that the phone has been unlocked. If the SIM does not work after that, then Sprint has NOT unlocked the phone, and you would have to go back to them. Apple does not unlock phones; only the carriers do.

Verizon iPhone 4S SIM UNLOCK Tutorial
    SGMD1 Oct 19, 2011 9:40 PM
    Currently Being Moderated
Verizon has confirmed (here and here) they WILL unlock the SIM on the iPhone 4S, allowing for use of local SIM cards while traveling abroad (no word yet on whether this will allow for use on AT&T and T-Mobile.) This is different than the jailbreak unlocking method; SIM unlocking through Verizon is permanent and will not affect your warranty in any way.
    1. Meet the following requirements:
    * Must be a Verizon Wireless customer.
    * The iPhone 4S being unlocked must be active on a Verizon Wireless line of service.
    * The line of service must be active at least 60 days.
    * The line of service must be in good standing for the past 60 days.
    * Only one SIM Unlock per line every 10 months.
If you don't meet one or more of the above requirements, call anyway. You may still get lucky.
    2. Insert a foreign SIM into the SIM card slot on the side of your phone (only required to confirm that the unlock is successful.)
    3. Call 1-800-711-8300 (Verizon Global Support) and ask the representative for a SIM unlock. Occassionally a representative may not know exactly what you are referring to; make sure you are not transferred to a different department. You are in the right place. Explain that they should have a walkthrough on how to do this, and that it allows for the use of local, non-Verizon SIM cards while traveling abroad.
    4. Get confirmation from the rep that the unlock has been applied to your account, then check your phone to make sure it recognizes your SIM and can connect (if successful it will roam on AT&T, assuming you are calling from the USA.) You will NOT see an unlock confirmation in iTunes as that is for a factory-applied unlock only.
    5. Enjoy your new unlocked iPhone 4S!
****ALSO I JUST SPOKE WITH NICHOLE (VZN GLOBAL SUPPORT) REGARDING IF THE IPHONE 4S HAS TO BE ACTIVE AFTER SIM UNLOCK AND THE ANSWER IS: NO!

  • HT4993 How can i unlock my iPhone from the Sprint carrier?

How can I unlock my iPhone from the Sprint carrier?

Only Sprint can unlock it. You will have to ask them.

  • Is there a iphone 6 that is unlocked and compatible with the sprint SIM card?

ok so my Galaxy s4 caught on fire the other day while I was sleeping. And so now instead of getting another galaxy that might do the same thing I'm switching to apple. Now my question is, is there an iphone 6 that is unlocked an compatible with the sprint SIM card. Because my SIM card from the galaxy is still good, but I don't want to go to sprint and get it from them because I'm switching carries in a year.

Iphone does NOT store to the SIM at all.
You should be syncing iphone to your computer regularly so all of your contacts should be on your computer in whatever program you have chosen to sync.

  • I bought an Iphone 5 (Carrier: Sprint / model A1249) and I want to use it in France. Can I without any problems?

    Hi everyone,
First, I want to apologize about my bad english, I'm french.
So today, I bought on Ebay an Iphone 5 64 Giga, Model A1249 MD668LL/A, and apparently simlocked. That's why the seller sold it with a R-sim6 cards.
Here is the information some IMEI website checker told me about it:
    Warrantly: Active
    Technical support: Active
    Resgistered Status: Yes
    Activated Status: Yes
    Purchase Date: Validated
    Sim Lock status: Locked
So, that's mean until I don't use the r-sim in it, I can't use my phone with  any other nanosim than the sprint one?
is they're any way to unlock my phone without this r-sim and legally?
I saw some website about unlocking directly your iphone 5, but it's a bit expensive. Is it legal? Can apple helped me about this?
    Thanks you.
    Alex.

It's False, The only carrier that don't provide GSM support is actually At&T, that's why a lot of people said in the USA it's the worst about travelling.
Verizon and Sprint support GSM network outside the country, but only the Verizon iphone are sold totally unlocked to any other carriers.
That's why some website sell some offer about Factory Unlock on Sprint iphone 5s
Here is the specs about network support:
    AT&T – GSM model A1428*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 4 and 17)
    Verizon & Sprint – CDMA model A1429*: CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1900, 2100 MHz); UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 13, 25)
    European – GSM model A1429*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5)
As you can see, Verizon and Sprint models sold support both CDMA and GSM carrier, as said many times on the internet.
