IPhone 5c not recognizing charger/charging?

I've had my 5c for about 3 weeks, and its seems like its not charging properly, at least when connected to an outlet. It runs out of battery (frequently I might add), and shows the "charge me" icon of empty battery and charger plug. When I plug it in the empty battery picture stays for a bit, and then the screen goes black. Touch the lock button, and the picture returns. I've had it on the wall outlet for about 4 hrs this evening and I couldn't even get it to turn on. When I take it off the charger, it tells me that is out of batteries again. However, when I plugged it into the computer, it immediately turned on and said 99% battery.
(Note: Everything in my house is apple, but this is my first iPhone) Is this an actual problem or is it user error?

I thought about that,  I tried multiple cables and the problem occured on them all.  It seems to be hit and miss when it recognizes the charger being connected.   If it is the cable that is at issue then it is a problem that Apple is responsible for,  all the cables are Apple Branded ones and at $30 a cable it is getting expensive.  A great money making machine for Apple.   Never had any problems with the old 30 pin cables on the iPhone 4 and 4S and those cables are still working.
Incidentally the issue still occurs with a brand new cable I bought though it seems to be more hit and less miss with that one and the problem is also occuring if I use a 30 pin dock with the adapter attached to that.
I'm tired of spending on Apple Cables and it makes buying an Android device more appetizing every time I have to chuck away another $30 + Sales Tax.  In fact the cable that came with the iPhone came apart in the first 14 days of owning so I have been a regular buyer of Apple Lightning cables since I bought the phone.

  • IPhone 4S not recognized/charging after iOS 6.0.1 update

    Hi,
I've upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 6.0.1 when the updates became available on my handset and everything seems to work fine until I plugged it into my iMac for some late-night development with XCode. It wasn't recognized/charging at all. At first, I thought the connector cable was faulty, but using the provided Apple charger and the same cable, charging was working....
This morning, when arriving at work, I upgraded an iPhone 4 (the previous generation) to iOS 6.0.1 and plugged it into my work iMac: Same issue.
It seems that upgrading the iOS version to 6.0.1 disable synching/charging on my iMac.
    Verified on:
    - iPhone 4 + iMac 27in Mid-2010 running Mountain Lion 10.8.2
    - iPhone 4S + iMac 27in Mid-2010 running Mountain Lion 10.8.2
I have no iPhone 5 available yet, so I cannot verify it, but it seems that something is amiss.
    Beware of iOS 6.0.1!

    Let's do a little recap:
    - Do not detect in iTunes/XCode on my iMac Mid-2010 running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (Both 4 and 4S)
    - Do not charge when plugged-in on my iMac Mid-2010 running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (Both 4 and 4S)
    - Soft Reset from the phone does not work (Only tried on iPhone 4)
    - Hard-Reset from the phone does not work (Only tried on iPhone 4)
    - DFU Mode will not trigger the iTunes. (Only tried on iPhone 4)
Perhaps it is not widespread, but it is annoying. Especially when the iPhone 4 is my work phone and I need it to deploy/test my App before submitting to the App Store!

  • Iphone 5 not recognizing charger or USB to computer since 6.1.2

I did the update to iOS 6.1.2, the phone was charging at the time.  As soon as it installed the update my iPhone 5 stopped charging and will not recognize any chargers, won't communicate with any PC's.
I tried clearing and reseting the iPhone, that has not fixed the issue!
Right now I am down to 30% charge and by tomorrow I will have no phone service because the battery is quickly going flat.   Wi-Fi access is at a snails pace.  I've never had it restore settings and that portion to be estimated now at 26 minutes and rising.  I have extremely fast internet and it's only ever taken a very short time.
I cannot be the only one with this problem, surely?

  • IPhone 5 not recognized by iTunes 12

    Hello all,
I have an iPhone 5, I'm running iTunes 12.0.1.26 and Yosemite (OS X 10.10.1). Over the last few days, I've noticed that my iPhone is not recognized by iTunes or even Yosemite itself. I have already tried everything in this doc: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X - Apple Support, to no avail. I've been combing the communities and Google to no avail. Does this mean I need to try a manual restore on the phone? Any other solutions?
    Thanks
    Gina

  • HT201302 iphone is not recognized as an accessible device by your windows 7 or 8 pc?

Despite the fact that itunes has no problems accessing the iphone nor does a 3rd party paid app like "iExplorer", the iphone is not recognized as a device by Windows (7 and 8). The support bulletin referenced is inadequate.

    Hi James,
I'll give you steps so it'll be easy to read.
I suggest having your phone plugged into a working USB during this process.
      1. Open up your Device Manager (run/use command line devmgmt.msc or look for it by sliding open your charm bar located on the right of your computer screen, selecting PC Info, and then on the left hand side of your PC Info window, click "Device Manager"
    2. Once you are in your device manager, look at the above tab (It should say File, Action, View, and Help) and Click View. Click "Show Hidden Devices"
    3. Look for "Portable Devices", and click it. There should be something similar or exact to "Apple iPhone".
    4. Right click it, and select "Update Driver Software..."
    5. Click "Browse my computer for driver software"
    6. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
    7. Click "Show All Drivers", then click "Next"
    8. Click "Have Disk"
    9. Type in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
    10. Click "Browse", there should be a file that says "usbaapl64" RIGHT click it and click "Install"
    11. From there it should install. Open iTunes to make sure.
Please let me know if my directions are not clear enough, it took me some time to figure out what I was doing myself. I wish you the best!

Zap the PRAM and Reset the SMC, then try again. If the problem remains, update to 10.6.8 and repeat.

iphone 4 not recognized and will not sync after latest itunes update.  I have done recommendedl trouble shooting and uninstalled and reinstalled itunes to no avail. Can I go back to earlier version of itunes or restore computer to fix?

'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Iphone 6 not recognized in windows

iphone 6 not recognized in windows but it's recognized in Itunes. I uninstalled and reinstall Itunes but it's still not working. I have photos in my iphone. Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is updated. Under Device Manager and Portable Devices, I can't find Apple iPhone. Please advise.

then uninstall bonjour and maybe use regedit to search and delete all registry keys
and you can always connect it to another computer with a non messed up apple software and copy out the photos without having to pair or sync or anything with the computer

  • IPhone 5 not recognizing SIM card, I can't activate the phone.

    Hi, everybody.
A couple of days ago, I bought an iPhone 5 from a friend. I have an iPhone 4 and, as you know, they both have different SIM card sizes (4 uses micro size and 5 uses nano size). When I got the iPhone 5, I restored it to factory settings, but couldn't activate it 'cause I didn't have the nano SIM card (or SIM nano card, anyhow it goes), so I just turned it off. Next morning, I went to my mobile carrier to buy a nano SIM card (they took like 28 hours long to activate it…anyway) but the iPhone is not recognizing it, so I cannot activate it.
I've gotten stuck in the white "Hello" screen for like 3 days already and I'm running desperate 'cause I wanna use my stupid iPhone 5…
    Please, guys, any help?
EDIT: It cannot be restored via iTunes 'cause I get a screen saying that there's no SIM card in the iPhone I'm attempting to activate. The friend who sold me the phone showed me a way to restore it on the phone itself, without having to send the command through iTunes 'cause he said that from iPhone 4S onwards all phones have to be restored with a SIM card inserted. Thing is, I tried this two or three times on the iPhone 5 but the device still doesn't recognize the stupid SIM…

EDIT 2: It cannot be restored via iTunes 'cause I get a screen message saying that there's no SIM card in the iPhone I'm attempting to activate. The friend who sold me the phone showed me a method for restoring it on the phone itself, without having to send the command through iTunes (connect the phone to computer, turn it off, hold both Home and Power buttons until the Apple logo disappears, release the Power button without releasing Home button, iTunes shows a message about an iPhone in restoring mode, restore, etc.). Thing is, I tried this two or three times on the iPhone 5 but the device still doesn't recognize the stupid SIM…
    Please, help
