Iphone 5c stuck on activation

I bought an iphone 5c in green from a guy off Craigslist who looked pretty decent, long story short... He made a fool out of me or maybe he's just stupid himself.
I'm really mad because everything was legit but then when I restored the phone and tried to activate it his apple id was logged in and I couldn't use mine to activate it. It says that I need to contact him to remove it. Yet he doesn't answer his phone and his ad is no longer upNow is their anyway in the world that I can use my new iphone or did I just loose $600 and have a phone that I'm suppose to throw out! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Your a victum of Activation Lock, & yes, you wasted your money unless you can find out what the Apple ID & password is that was originally used to activate the phone.
Apple will not help you, & the phone will be useless unless you can determine this info. I suspect the seller doesn't have the info either, as the phone is most likely stolen...that's why you can't reach him/her.

You need to remember your iCloud account information.
Activation Lock is a new security feature in iOS 7. Without
the AppleID and passcode used to originally activate the iPhone,
it is useless to everyone. There is no workaround for Activation
Lock.

What so you mean by stuck? You should be able to activate it as long as it was set up with your Apple ID and password. Or are you saying that you don't remember your ID and password or you bought the iPad second hand and the original owner never erased it.

IPhone 3GS stuck on activation screen after updating to iOS 6.13

I have updates my iPhone 3GS to iOS 6.13 and it got stuck in the activation mode.
I went to see Apple Genius and was told that my phone has locked itself to O2 simcard only.
I contacted O2 and my iPhone has just been unlocked.
however, when I try to finish the activation it still keeps failining with the message when I use WiFi:
"could not activate iPhone, your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable."
When I try through iTunes, it says: "we're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time"
Next available appointments at near apple stores are only mid-week..
any advice on what should I do?
I tried restoring it (held lock button until logo came up), but it keeps taking me to activation screen.
any help would be much appreciated...

Is there a SIM in the device? A SIM is required for activation.
The most common reason for activation issues is due to the device being hacked or jailbroken. If this is the case, no support can be provided here and Apple will not touch the device.

Iphone 3GS stuck on Activation screen

I tried to restore my iphone to factory settings and now I am stuck at the activation screen. The message reads"Your Iphone could not be activated because the activation Server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iphone to iTunes to activate or try again in a couple of minutes". I am going on 3 days now. The phone is connected to my computer. Itunes is open but there is no indication that the iphone is connected. Apple support told me via email to uninstall itunes and re-install it. I did but the result is the same. When I try to restore/activate it appears to process and the following mesage appears" It may take up to 3 minutes to activate your iphone" but after the time expires it goes right back to the message above. When I hold down the home button, Emergency Call, Start Over, WiFi Settings and Cancel buttens appear. Nothing else works with or without the SIm card removed. Currently only my Wifi connection seems to register. can you help?

First, try disabling your antivirus and firewall, then try again. If that fails:
Open the hosts file on your computer and delete any lines that contain gs.apple.com.
Windows - c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Mac - /etc/hosts
It is a hidden file, so you will have to view hidden files to see it.

Help! My old iphone 3gs is stuck in activation mode. I contacted at&t to get the phone unlocked for sale. I was told by representative during a chat session that the phone would become unlocked once I did a backup and restore with itunes on my computer. I did this, then the phone was stuck in recovery mode. Through itunes I got the phone out of recovery mode, now it is stuck in activation mode. Any ideas? The phone has never been jailbroken or unlocked in the past. Please help.

If nothing works, try another computer, if still does not work, your iPhone may have a hardware failure.

99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, you need to get a sim card from the carrier the phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked.
Apple has started to get "tough" with hacked iPhones, & simply won't permit their activation.

You need the AppleID and passcode used to originally activate the iPhone.
This is a new security feature in iOS7 called Activation Lock. There is no
workaround.
Without the AppleID and passcode used to activate the iPhone, it will be useless
to you and everyone else.

Sorry, but without the Apple ID of the previous owner, the phone can't be used anymore.

That message usually indicates that your phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it.
Then when you updated the phone it locked back up to the orginal carrier.
Only the carrier that the phone is locked to can unlock it.
So ask your friend to call his carrier to unlock it for you.

go to Setting >>>turn on Air plane mode then turn off >>> wait for searching ur network
if it don't work may be ur iphone is locked.

Got a brand new iphone 4, stuck on activation screen

when i plug into itunes it says wrong sim card inserted however the phone is sim free.

i got the phone off of ebay, the guy was a trusted seller 100% feedback and sold loads of them with no complaints. he said if i go to the apple store because its brand new they would replace it but i am not sure they will. is there any other way to prove that its sim free or on a fixed network?

you can't bypass activation. Your phone needs to be activated for any of the functions to work.
This problem happens often to phones previously jailbroken. Is this the case?

I got like the same problem, last days I get message to restore my iPhone, so I did it yesterday and it work very well. In the afternoon I saw that at top in the left corner show invaild sim card or so (only knew the german version). so I restore it again but now it won`t activate after I enter SIM-PIN and it accept it, it shows "No Service".
Anybody can help? My Carrier is o2 Germany.
