IPhone 5c won't sync on Windows XP laptop?

Bought a new iPhone 5c running iOS 8.1.3. My Toshiba laptop runs Windows XP. My iTunes is version 11.1. iPhone 4 synced fine. iPad mini syncs fine.
When I plug my iPhone 5c into the computer, I am prompted to upgrade to at least v11.2. After I agree to the upgrade, nothing happens. The phone still won't sync.
I tried checking for updates in the "Help" menu. I am prompted to upgrade to v12.1. When I click "Download iTunes" to agree to the upgrade, nothing happens.
I downloaded the iTunes installer from the Apple website. When I try to run it, I am told I need to be running "Windows XP SP3 or newer".
Is there any recourse? Will I ever be able to sync music to an iPhone 5c on a Windows XP laptop?

Has Windows XP Service Pack 3 been installed on your laptop? Even though XP is no longer supported by Microsoft, you should be able to run Windows Update to install the last set of patches that are available. Once you've updated Windows, the 32-bit version of iTunes 12.1 should install OK.

I transferred successfully my iTunes library from my old Vista laptop to my new Windows 8 laptop. I purchased 16 songs from iTunes store. Previously, when I plugged my iPod into my old computer, it automatically started syncing. I have run the current & newest iTunes available. However, when I plug my iPod into the new computer, it does not sync and I can't find a way to manipulate it. I miss my iPod! Please help me? Thank you!

Two ways:
- Make the new computer your one syncing computer. See:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities. If all the synced media is already in the iTunes library of the new computer then just backup the iPod to the computer and rstore from that backup

- Use the manual method of syncing. That only works for music and videos.

When I update my calendar from my phone it is not updating on my pc anymore. I don't know when it stopped syncing just noticed today.

For me the error message in the popup reads:
"The iPhone [myiphonename] could not be synced because the sync session failed to start."

IPod Classic 160Gb 6th Generation Won't Sync With Windows 7 Laptop

Yesterday I purchased an iPod Classic 160Gb to replace my old iPod Classic that is on it's last legs (10 years old)
My laptop recognises the iPod as a drive but iTunes does not recognise it at all. When I connect the iPod to iTunes the iPod shows it is syncing but this only lasts about 10 seconds. Needless to say there is no music etc. on the iPod when I disconnect it.
I have tried all the troubleshooting suggestions but none of them have worked. When I try and connect my old iPod I have the same problem.
I upgraded to the latest version of iTunes before connecting my new iPod; it seems to me that this is a software problem!
I have spent over 5 hours on this today and am getting fed up now
Any ideas please?

I'm getting this exact problem too, although mine is not brand new it randomly wiped itself the other week and now nothing I'm doing will get the songs back onto it, this is so frustrating!

Windows 8 recognizes that the phone is connected, and even asks if I would like to download pictures, however iTunes will not.
So far, I have stopped and restarted AMDS, iTunes, my laptop, and the iphone. None of these have had any success. I've tried using a different cable, but the results were the same. The phone can download songs via its own iTunes app, but cannot sync with iTunes on the laptop.
How can I get my phone to start syncing with iTunes again? This problem occurs sparatically, sometimes syncing and sometimes ignoring the phone altogether, like it is now.

You can only sync via computer iTunes. Use ddd .mp4 to iTunes library.
iTunes > File > Add to Library...
After that select the .mp4 and sync with your iPhone that is connected and selected in iTunes sidebar.

IPhone 4 won't sync to iTunes on iMac

Recently my iPhone 4 won't sync with iTunes on my iMac. When I connect my iPhone iTunes recognizes it and I'm able to click the sync button. It goes the the sync steps, but at the end it says it can't sync becasue my iPhone is not connected to iTunes even though it is.
My iPhone, iMac and iTunes have the latest software updates. I'm running OS X 10.6.8.
I've tried rebooting both my iPhone and iMac, but it still doesn't work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm only asking this because I just got my phone unlocked, and the service provider suggested that I restore my iPhone by syncing it with Itunes.......but maybe I don't have to restore my phone? Anyone with advice/suggestions?

You may need to switch 'Nike + iPod' off in your Settings, then re-enabling it. Make sure that the sensor is not in sleep mode (which can be corrected by pressing the small button on the side opposite the Nike and Apple logos). Depending on the age of the sensor, however, the battery may be depleted.
Make sure you have the latest version of... iPhone... software and iTunes installed.
Make sure the sensor is not in sleep mode by using a pen or stylus to press the Sleep/Wake button on your sensor once to wake it up.
On your home screen, tap Settings.
Scroll down and tap the Nike + iPod option.
Disable the Nike + iPod feature and then re-enable it by tapping the On/Off button at the top of the page.
Place the sensor back in the shoe and walk around to activate the sensor as you attempt to relink it to your iPod touch or iPhone 3GS.
If the issue persists and you have access to another sensor, link the new sensor to your iPod touch or iPhone 3GS. If you can link the new sensor to your iPod touch or iPhone, take in your first sensor for service.

Well, OSX 10.9.2 is free, which should solve the iTunes problem, but 10.9.2 isn't bug free, & you'll lose the ability to run any PPC Apps if that important, as well as needing to update many Apps & Printer Drivers.

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

IPhone 4s won't Sync

My iPhone 4s won't sync with my Macbook Pro.
I have:
Macbook Pro running Mac OS 10.5.8
iTunes 10.6.3 (i.e. latest update - which hasn't had an issues apart from syncing).
I just updated the iPhone to iOS6 (thought it wasn't syncing before the update either).
I also just uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 10.6.3
I tried 3 different USB sync cables. Still not syncing.
Do I really have to update my Mac OS (to 10.6.8 or 10.7) in order to sync my phone ? I thought as long as you have iTunes 10.6.3 you're ok...
Is there a way to update to Mac OS 10.6.8 (or later) without wiping the hard drive and doing a new install?..

If you put information into one calendar and it synced to the other phone, then it sounds as if you are using iCloud, not Outlook. You need to check that. When I asked about the type of calendar, I was asking if this was your own Outlook, or were you using a work Exchange calendar. If you don't know the difference, I would say it is probably personal. If you look at calendars in the bottom center, are there more than one calendar listed? Do you see an ICloud calendar? Do you see an Outlook calendar?
