Iphone 5s 7.1.1 email default account changes

Although I have set my default email to a particular account, when I send an email, it often selects another account to use as the "From" account. This is very annoying. I can catch it while I'm composing the message, but having to change the "From" account to my Default account kind of defeats the purpose of having a default account. And often I miss the change of address. Any way I can make the default From address stick?

Go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars. then set the default mail account. However, if you are looking at a number of accounts on the phone, then if you are in one of the other accounts, it will attempt to use that account to respond to the mail unless you change it. It defaults to the account you received the mail in if it is not your default account. The default account setting is if you are starting an email from outside of the mail program, such as from a web link, etc.

  • Reply To Email - Default Account?

Running iOS 7 on an iPhone 5.
I have mail setup to get messages from 5 POP accounts and one IMAP account.  I just attempted to reply to one of the messages, but I get an error regarding the SMTP server used.  It will not accept mail from my iPhone.  When I change the default account to be my iPhone gmail account, I then get an error about the from address being invalid.
When replying to an email on the iPhone, no matter which account the original message came from, how do I force the message to be sent through my gmail account, using my gmail "From" address?

Nevermind, I figured it out.  I did not have the user names and passwords setup for all the SMTP servers.

  • When I email myself a picture from my iphone 4s, the email is sent from an email account that I don't have set up as the default account. How can I set it up so that the emails are coming from the default account selected in Mail?

Under my mail tab, it shows that I have a specific email account set up as a default account. That is the account I would like for me emails to be sent from. But when I actually send out an email such as a picture, it is being sent from one of my different email accounts that is not set up as the default. How can I change this so that future messages will be sent from the default account? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!

All photo attachments received or sent with the iPhone's Mail app appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message when viewed with the iPhone's Mail app which is the same with the Mail.app on a Mac. A photo attachment that appears inline or viewed in place does not mean the photo was not sent as a true attachment to the message. A photo attached to a message with the iPhone's Mail app is sent as a true attachment to the message. How an inline or viewed in place attachment appears on the recipient's end depends on the recipient's email client. If the recipient's email client does not support viewing an attached photo inline or viewed in place within the body of the message, the attached file must be manually selected and opened to viewed.
I am getting the email with the Picture Inline ( not as attachment),The picture is shown distorted , no metter what i do and with what mail client i am using (Gmail\Hotmail\My Enterprise exchange mail), i still get the same behavior.
    With which email client?

  • When I send an email the Iphone 5 IOS 8.1.3 takes an account I dont want to use, How can I use a default account for all the message I send, includes pics?

Although I select hotmail as my default account (it´s my personal) Iphone always takes my corporative account to send my emails when I attach a pic, video, or any attachments. I want the Iphone always use my personal account (hotmail) to send all the attachments.

Settings->Mail, Contacts,Calendars->Mail->Default Account should be set to the one you want to use.
You can also, when attaching Pics, Tap on the CC/Bcc From Line and then on From to choose an account to send the pictures from.

  • Yahoo Email and Calendar will sync to my iPhone, but Contacts will not.  Selection for "Default Account" doesn't even show in the Contacts section within Settings on the iPhone.

I have always had my Yahoo Email, Calendar and Contacts synched to my iPhone.  However, I noticed some Contacts weren't synching from the Yahoo account to my iPhone, so I thought if I just deleted the Yahoo account and added it back, I'd be fine.  That worked fine for my Email and Calendar, but now I have NO Contacts from Yahoo on my iPhone.  When I go to Settings, under Contacts, it doesn't even have the option for 'Default Account.'  Help!

    Hello Marsha,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
It's not clear exactly what you're trying to accomplish here.  If you're wanting to set up SMS forwarding introduced in iOS 8, then please follow the directions below.  Also, your Apple ID should be an email address.
To use Continuity for SMS and MMS with your iPhone and your Mac, iPad or iPod touch
Your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch need to use iOS 8.1, and your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
Sign in to iMessage on your iPhone, your other iOS devices, and your Mac using the same Apple ID.
    On your iPhone:
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By, and add a check to both your phone number and email address.
Go to Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and enable the device(s) you would like to forward messages to.
Your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch will display a code. Enter this code on your iPhone to verify the SMS feature.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
    Take care,
    Alex H.

  • I have multiple email accounts in my iPhone. Before the 6.0 update... I could select what account to send from. Now it's a default. Do I have to go change the email default everytime I want to send an email from a different account?

I have multiple email accounts in my iPhone 4. Before the 6.0 update... I could select what account to send from each time. Now it's a default. Do I have to go change the email default setting everytime I want to send an email from a different account?

In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account.  The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

  • I'm trying to change my default email on my iPhone when I have two emails accounts?

I'm trying to change my default email address on my iPhone. I have. Work and personal account.  One outlook and other gmail.  Thanks

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Below the Mail section at Default Account, you are unable to select or change your default account there?

  • When I send a text message, the iPhone 4s sends it via email rather than to the mobile phone number I wish to message.  How do I change that default?

My wife (who has a Droid) asked me to text a photo to her.  I went to Message on my 4s, selected my wife as the target for the text, selected the photo, and sent the text.  Rather than appearing on her mobile phone, the text went to her email.  When I selected my wife as the person I wanted to text, I was not given any choice of the target phone number or email address...it just defaulted to her email and did not tell me that is what it was doing!  I did find a solution, but it's more complicated.  I have to go to Contacts, select my wife, and then I'm given a choice of how I want to send the Message.  Why doesn't the iPhone do this in Messages in the first place?

I am not sure what you mean.
Do you mean the From field?
You can change it by tapping it, it will give you options based on the other email accounts set up.
You can set a default account here:
Sttings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > scroll down to the Mail section & you will see Default Account. You can change that to your gmail account.

  • Why is email being sent from my secondary and not from my default account as per my settings - even when I remove the secondary email account?

I have 2 email accounts on my iPhone 4S. My secondary account is a gmail account. My primary account (not gmail) is set as my default account. Why, when I compose a new message in my primary account and then send, the email is issued from from gmail? And then why if I delete/ remove my gmail account from my iPhone and then compose a new message from my primary account (now the only account on my iPhone) it still sends from the gmail account?

No, "My Number" was not listed in my Phone menu, I had to manually type it it.  Is there a way for that number to automatically be listed in that "My Number" spot?  Would that maybe have something to do with my phone number not being listed as an option in the "Send and Receive" spot under messaging???

  • Iphone mail (ios6) replies from default account instead of alias recipient

    Hi.
Since upgrading to ios6, iphone mail replies from my default account instead of the alias address that the email was originally sent to.
Prior to this upgrade, iphone mail would reply to the address that the email was sent to.
All alias addresses are present, and i can change teh sent from address to the alias manually.
If i reply to the same email from icloud.com, the email is sent from the alias address it was sent to, not the default account.
I tried turning mail off and back on, but the problem remains.
Please let me know if there is a new setting i have to look for, or if anyone else has solved this problem.
    Thanks.

I have a similar problem, and was about to start a discussion on it when I saw your post.  I'm assuming that you're using iCloud, like me.
Things changed in iOS 6 regarding Mail settings, but I still think the behaviour you and I are seeing should be considered a bug.  Under Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > iCloud > Account > Mail, you should see that there's a new setting that allows you to:
Choose a default address to use when sending from your iCloud account.
To confirm that you and I are experiencing the same problem, can I ask you to confirm that the default address chosen here is the default address that is being erroneously used as the "From:" address when replying to emails sent to aliases? If it is, you should probably make doubly sure that this setting is the cause of the behaviour you're seeing by changing it to one of the aliases you've created, and seeing whether this becomes the "From:" address for new replies.
Please post back with the results of this, and we can go from there.  If you're seeing this behaviour too I think I'll report it as a bug to Apple.

  • Email always from default account no matter which account I select

First let me say that I have an iPhone 4 using version 4.3.5 (8L1) of the iOS.
My issue is that when I compose or reply to an email through Mail it always sends from my default email, in this case Gmail, no matter which account I select in the From: field. Even when I compose an email from the Inbox of a particular account it sends from the default account.
I first noticed this today, which it has never done before. My wife's iPhone works fine.
I've tried reseting the phone through iTunes then restoring from a backup, but it is still happening.
I really don't want to have to change my settings every time I reply or compose an email.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is very frustrating.
    Thanks,

Sounds like something is corrupted, and if so then re-loading your backup won't solve the problem. That means restoring again, but this time without loading a backup (i.e. set it up as a new phone ... meaning you'll have to re-do all your settings, preferences, and account set-ups, as well as re-load all the media). Not fun, but sometimes that's the only way to "exorcise" such demons.

  • Email sending from non-default account

I have an iPhone4 running 4.3.1. I have two email accounts set up - a Yahoo (POP) account and a GMail (IMAP) account. The Yahoo account is set as default but I have just discovered that when I send a new email it is being sent from the GMail account, not from the default account. Iam fairly sure taht this has only started happening recently. Has anyone any idea what is causing this please?

I've solved this one! I had a new phone a week ago and restored it from iTunes. After the restore it is necessary to re-enter passwords and I forgot about the password in the SMTP definition for the default (yahoo) account. The non-default (Gmail) account didn't have a password in the SMTP definition so the iPhone cleverly decided if it couldn't send from the default account, it would send from the other one!

  • IPhone Only Sends Mail From Default Account After 1.1.1 Update

I just noticed that no matter which account I use to send an email in the iPhone mail app, the email is sent from my default account. I have Yahoo, Gmail, and .Mac accounts, and they all function properly (i.e, they can all send and receive, view folders, etc.) When I change the default account to any of these accounts, all of my mail is sent from that account--including replies and forwards to messages in a non-default account. I don't think this occurred before the 1.1.1 update, but it's possible I never noticed it until now.
As you can imagine, changing the default account each time I need to send an email from a different account is frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I noticed the same issue today, it was not like that before. I tested it prior to the update. I have yet to find a way around this besides switching the default account.

  • After deleting and adding Yahoo account, there is no Default Account field for Calendar on iPhone

I read the tips to fix the synch problem with Yahoo Calendar.  A step says to make sure the Default Account is set to a Yahoo one.  When I deleted and added the Yahoo account according to instructions then went to the Calendar section of Settings on the iPhone there is no Default Account field any longer.  I am running iOS 6.1.3 on iPhone 4s.  As a result when selecting the Calendar app and tap Calendars there is no Yahoo calendar listed only iCloud and Facebook.

I saw a temporary Yahoo calndear for iOS work-around in another Apple Support Forum post, and it does work:
Re: I sync my iPhone 4S with Yahoo calendar. Since last softeware update (6.1.3) They won't sync. What happened?     May 9, 2013 2:40 PM    (in response to mus4utoo)
I have found a workaround thats working for me until they get this yahoo calendar thing solved. I logged into my yahoo account on my pc and opened up the calendar. There is a down arrow next to the name of the yahoo calendar you wish to have on you iDevice. Click the down arrow and select share.Go to "sharing and permissions" and your email address and click save. You will then receive an email with two links. Open the email on your iDevice and and hold down on the second link and select copy. This is the link that says add to outlook. Then on your iDevice go to settings-mail-add account-other-add subscribed calendar. Hold down on the server field and tap paste. Then tap next. In the Description box type the name of your calendar and then tap save. Leave all the other fields alone. You can repeat this for all the yahoo calendars you wish to view on your iDevice. Open your iDevice calendar app, tap the calendar tab and your calendar(s) should now appear under Subscribed. This will allow your view your yahoo calendar(s) on your iDevice. Now if you wish to add appointments to your yahoo calendar open safari and go to m.yahoo.com tap the three bars in the upper left corner of the mobile web page and tap sign in. Use your yahoo id and password to sign in. After signing in tap the three bars in the upper left hand corner again and scroll down and tap more. Tap Calendar. At the bottom of the screen tap the box with the arrow in it and select at to home screen. Name it if you like and then tap add. Now every time you want add an appointment to any of your yahoo calendars you can open the link on your home screen. It will remember your log in. If you wish to view all of your calendars, including the yahoo calendars open the native calendar app. This workaround requires the use of two methods one for entry one for viewing, but at least you can access all of your calendars. You can also view your yahoo calendar(s) from the home page link but I dont like the layout on the yahoo mobile page so I just use that for entry. Hope this helps until they figure this one out.
