IPhone 5S Blue Screen Boot Loop iOS 8

Hi all
I've had my 32GB iPhone 5S for 5 months now. I installed iOS 8 when it came out, and have had no issues up until today.
Today while using my device, all of a sudden the screen went blue, turned off, and re-booted with the Apple logo. Was weird, but it was working again after.
About 20 minutes later, all **** broke loose. Now the phone is continuously looping from the Apple logo to the blue screen. I've tried plugging the phone into my MacBook but iTunes won't recognise it unless it's in DFU mode, in which I have tried restoring the phone through that and iTunes, only resulting in wasting about 10 minutes of the software loading onto the iPhone, then the blue-screen occurring and "Error 9" appearing on iTunes.
The other issue is as of last Sunday, I now live in Singapore. I normally would take my phone down to my local Apple store in Melbourne to get it replaced.
The phone has never been opened, repaired, etc. I had my original 5S replaced about 2-3 weeks ago by Apple Chadstone due to the screen clicking issue.
Any ideas/tips/advice? This is doing my head in.

Hi K.Dandr,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the scope of the issues you are describing. If you are having multiple issues after updating to iOS 8, and the issues returned a couple days after a restore of the OS and your apps/data, you may want to make sure you have a current backup of your data in iTunes, then try restoring your iPhone to factory settings and testing it in that default condition to see if the issues persist before restoring your data. • Just got my iPhone 5s at&t out of a blue screen boot loop how do i prevent this in the future?

My sister has had her iphone 5s at&t for a while. While using it would get stuck on the apple logo but would usually reboot and be fine within a minute. Today i just got stuck there and didn't go back to normal, so i decided to completely restore it (7.1.0) and after 10 tries of pluggin the usb in different ports and putting it in dfu and restore mode i finally got it to work. (9 of those tries it finished the restore then went into a blue screen and proceeded to show an apple logo with a loading bar that wouldn't move). Now i'm just holding on to it and probably going to take it to the apple store to get it replaced but it has no warrenty and im not prepared to pay 200 or more for a phone thats in perfect condition without a scratch(kidda stupid to charge a flat rate for every problem i understand if the phones glass is broken but for os problems). So is there any options i have rather than taking it to apple to stop this problem from happening.

  • My iPhone 5s suddenly has boot loop and shows blue screen.

My iPhone 5s suddenly has boot loop and shows blue screen. I tried to restore it with iTunes but it says that I have to enter my password on my phone first, which I can't technically do. What to do?
Also, I've read that I could get a replacement phone from apple but it was bought for me in CA, and I'm in the Philippines. Can I get a replacement still?

  • Gray screen boot loop!

My early 2009 Imac  is in the gray screen boot loop it just doesnt want to start up. I accidentily chanded disk permissions and now i cant even get it to start so that I can use disk utility or anything I dont even have the install boot dvd. please help

If you have access to a working Mac that's running the same version of the Mac OS, boot yours in Target Disk Mode by holding down the key combination command-T at the startup chime. Connect it to the working Mac with a Firewire cable. The internal drive will mount as an external drive on the other Mac. Repair permissions on it.

  • IPhone 5s blue screen of death on iOS 7.1

Hi everyone, smashed my original 5s returned to Apple store for replacement screen and was told they couldn't replace it because of Touch ID so was given another one for £209. A couple of days in I noticed the top of the touchscreen is unresponsive and now it keeps going onto the blue screen of death and trying to reboot itself. Also had white and black stripy screen and all white screen too, can anyone help with a possible solution please.

  • IPhone 5S Blue Screen of Death: seemingly no options left, any ideas?

Purchased my iPhone 5S in Nov 2013, haven't had any problems until mid-December. Made the jump from iOS 7.? to iOS 8.1.2. Afterwards, I started noticing that when I would plug the phone into any cable that it wouldn't sense a charge, would need to remove and re-seat. Phone started thinking Apple cables were uncertified, things like that. No big deal, I would just unplug and re-plug a few times until it recognized the cable was legit. Note: I own several Apple and Apple-certified cables, it didn't matter which cable I used, this issue persisted across all of them.
Forward a few weeks after the update, I wake up one morning and start using my phone and it freezes. Few seconds later, the screen goes blue, several striped lines dissolve in an out between blue/gold/black/silver/white. Press home+sleep button and restart the phone, normal boot for a few seconds until it kernel panics again. Repeat about 5 times until the phone actually starts. I have my MacBook Pro, plug it in, make several attempts to backup until it works (with several kernel panics in between). Restore iPhone from backup. Issue persists. Assume backup is corrupt. Restore phone to factory settings (sacrificing all data, but I just want a working phone at this point). Issue persists. Holidays over, get back to my home.
Make appointment at Apple Store, tech takes a look at it. Notes no physical damage, no water damage. Pulls up diagnostics, everything looks good. Finds dozens of kernel panics logged, blames hardware based on the diagnostics. Tech notes that my phone is "2 months" (more like 5 weeks) out of warranty, no AppleCare, tells me they can't do a warranty replacement. Phone needs to be replaced, offers $269 for a replacement 5S. Mention the phone was working fine before the update. Tech says that sometimes the updates will cause a phone with failing hardware to finally fail (paraphrasing). Can't afford the $269, ask about upgrade eligibility. Tech passes me off to a salesperson who says I'm not eligible until November. Could sign up for AT&T Next, which as I understand splits the cost of a new phone over a year (additional ~$50/mo for a new phone?). Getting married at the end of the year, so money is tight.
Take phone to work yesterday, delete all of my apps from my phone. Plug phone into computer at work (never synced to this machine). Tell machine to do a factory reset, assume that it will be the "cleanest" sync since the app data isn't on this machine. Phone works great... for 18 hours. Wake up this morning, load up Find Friends, freezes and BSODs.
So, looking for any options outside of having to pay $269 for a new phone. Soapbox... Owned Apple stuff all my life: Apple IIe, Mac 2C, Performa 575, PowerMac 6500, iMac, iMac DV, G4, MacBook Pro (LED), MacBook Pro (retina), gen-1 iPod, iPod classic, iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, iPhone 5S. I've given the company a lot of money over my life. Rarely have I turned to them for repairs and this is the first time they've spurned me weeks outside of warranty coverage. Considering this entire thing started with an update they pushed to my phone, I'm pretty disappointed with them right now.
tl;dr iPhone 5S kernel panics and blue-screens frequently (~dozen times a day) after iOS 8.1.2 update. Few weeks out of warranty, so Apple store told me I can pay them $269 for a refurb, otherwise not helpful. Not eligible for upgrade until November. No physical damage (water or otherwise). Tried to restore from backup, issues persisted. Deleted all of my apps, tried factory restore, issues persist. Any further options?

UPDATE (13-Jan 2015): Took my phone do a different AppleStore and had an appointment with a Genius. The Genius hinted that I should call AppleCare (1-800-APL-CARE) and tell them my story. He said that it was not possible for him to do it, but that by escalating the problem to AppleCare that they may help. I was on the phone with a rep and his supervisor for about an hour before they told the Genius to replace my phone as a one-time out-of-warranty replacement. They stated that because the phone was working fine before the update, and showed no damage, that they would grant my request. Yay Apple for making this right!
This is a known bug, error 101 or something.  Only solution they have at the moment is warranty replacement.

  • IPhone 5s blue screen, freeze, lockup, reboot, restart

One day, out of the blue, my phone screen went to a blue screen and then restarted.  It happened just a couple times a day and was not isolated to any particular app when it occurred;it was random other than the fact that I was utilizing the phone when it happened.  I ended up searching for some answers and tried restoring the phone, rebooting by holding the power and home button down, using recovery mode to restore the phone and nothing seemed to work.  Then, it stopped going to the blue screen for a few days.  The issue resurfaced with new symptoms which haven't gone away since.  I still get the blue screen, although less often and now it reset dozens of times a day, sometimes in a repeated loop for several minutes.  Once, the screen froze and the image was distorted with vertical lines every other row of pixels on a portion of the screen.  Everything I have tried (reboots, restores, etc) have failed to fix the problem.  This appears to be a fairly widespread issue with iPhones and I'm curious what apple has to say about it.  Is it IOS compatibility issues?  Does apple plan on finding a fix for the issue?  Will there be a recall?  These phones are not cheap to replace and I can't afford the risk of buying a new iPhone without some sort of assurances and/or explanation from apple.  I've been using iPhones since the 3g was released and but now I consider my options.

  • Iphone 5s Blue screen when syncing photos

I am trying to upload photos to my IPhone 5s.  I can download everything else like music, apps. movies, but I cannot do photos.
I replaced my IPhone 5s because of a bad hardrive.  When I download photos my IPhone 5s will get a solid blue screen and restart.  Itunes will then display a message that says my IPhome 5s cannot be detected.
Anyone having this issue?  only started getting this issue when I updated to IOS 7.1

Forgot to add that I replaced it my self. After I replaced the back I tested the phone out before screwing the last 2 screw next to the lighting port. The phone worked then. But that was before i plugged in the Touch ID cable.

  • After 10.5 upgrade, getting blue screen booting into XP

It's looking like I need to update the drivers. I can get into Windows fine using Parallels to access the Boot Camp partition, but when I try booting directly I get BSOD.
Last Known Good Configuration does not work either, same blue screen. Booting into Safemode I get no keyboard/trackpad/etc and when I was able to pull up the Leopard DVD and run the boot camp setup.exe, it said the Windows Installer service was not loaded.
I went into services.msc to try to start that service but it wouldn't let me.
So it seems I'm stuck - I need to update the drivers but can't get into XP to do so. Can I do this from the Parallels VM? It won't let me run the install, presumably because it uses its own configuration of drivers and we wouldn't want to overwrite those.
    Thanks!

With that, I was able to update the driver. It didn't help, so what I ended up doing was using a registry entry to allow me to start the Windows Installer service in Safe Mode. I ran the Boot Camp setup but it failed to start the Keyboard and other services. It still said completed, so I rebooted and upon login to Windows, I got a blank dialog box. No text, no header, no text on the button. All blank. Hit okay and it logs me off. So now I'm in a completely separate loop.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

  • IPhones 5s blue screen

Does anyone experience blue screen after upgrading to iOS v8?
I've tried resolving this issue by resetting my phone.  It will be ok after 2 days, then back again to experiencing blue screen, then it will turn on and off again and again, as if trying to reboot but eventually gets off totally.  It can only be turned on when plugged for charging, however, it almost takes more than an hour just to show the apple logo.  I also tried ensuring that all applications are up-to-date for any upgrade, as I initially thought the issue has something to do with the apps that I am using.
By the way, my phone is only 15months old.  This is the first time I had this issue in an iPhone.  I have been an iPhone user since its 3Gs model.
Not sure now, whether I have to request for a battery replacement instead.  Getting a health check of the iPhone (to where I am) prior to actual troubleshooting/servicing already cost so much!  As such, I may need to know what to request beforehand.
    Any suggestions?

    Howdy there lizamc,
If I understand you correctly you have been resetting your phone to help combat the blue screen issues you've been having with your phone which seems to stem it for a bit, but comes back. Thats where I would ahve started as well. Next to help isolate the issue to software or hardware I would next backup the phone to iTunes and restore it as a new device with this article:
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If the issue is resolved and you don't see the blue screen again it would seem the issue was to do with the backup itself. If it persists then there is a hardware issue with the phone that would need service.

  • IPhone 5 Blue Screen Then Get Restarting

my iphone 5 get blue screen and then reboot i restore it today with ios 7.1 but it still getting the blue screen, i think it could be a software error but i restore it with the new actualization and it continue getting the same error i dont know what it could be. does anyone have the same error and got a solution for this ??

I also have the same problem. It started almost a week ago. This issue have began after updating to iOS 7.1. The most interesting thing is that I have five 5s phones with the same level of iOS and this is the only one with this problem!!! What happens with Apple that cannot resolve something that is reported in some phones since iOS 7.0.3.???
All the five 5s phones were aquired 5 months ago, so why we have this problem, and just with one of our phones??

  • IPhone 5: Blue Screen and Restarting Issue

I have an iPhone 5 and am running iOS 7.0.04.  Just a few days ago my phone has had the following issues:
    1)  Phone randomly restarts
    2)  While using the phone, system will crash and the result is the Blue Screen of death.  Only way to get out of this crash is to do a manual restart
    3) While using phone, screen will start flickering, lines will appear on screen and I will either get a Blue Screen or a White Screen.
I have done the following to date:
    1) Backed up Phone and synced/restored from my Computer
    2) Erased all settings and restored from iCloud Backup
My phone is out of warranty and I think if I take it back to the Apple Store they will tell me I'm SOL.
Just wanted to know if people think this is a Hardware or Software issue.

    Hello jackhandy234,
I have a white iPhone 5 running on the latest IOS 7.0.4 and I am having a similar problem. I have had my phone for about 6 months now and have had it always well protected in a sturdy case similar to an otter box case. I have had no problems with the phone until 2 nights ago.
While on the messaging app "kik" My phone froze up, vertical pixalated lines appeared,it faded into a black screen, shut down and automatically turned on again. It repeated this "glitch" while powering back up about 3 times. Finally after having to manually restart it by pressing the power and home button for 5-6 seconds it stop.
After going back to using my phone, not 5 mins past, and it was "glitching" up again. In the past 48 hours it has glitch over 26+ times. Everytime I need to use my phone for more then 5 mins I need to manually reset it.
If you have found a solution to your problem, please post it because it could possibly solve mine.
