IPhone 5s can connect to wireless WIFI router but can not access internet.
iPhone 5s can connect to wireless WIFI router but can not access internet at work. The admin says the router lets my iPhone connect to LAN, but the iPhone does not have server IP to access the internet. I entered the server IP and port number in the HTTP PROXY fields but I still can not access the web. Any ideas?
TIA
Rich
You IT person should be able to sort this out. But, they seems to be too busy or disinterested to do this. Suggest you provide the it person with an iPhone to get interested.
Any could be lots of things.
The best you can do is to get access to the admin setup for networking on a pc? The internet settings are all the same. Only what names the manufactures change from OS to OS. Check and compare parameters.
Phone works to internet at home, I assume?

I am unable to connect to WiFi on my iOS7 devices. I have an iPhone 5 and a iPad. The WiFi symbol shows connection to my wireless router but no internet connection is received. My other non-iOS7 devices are connecting without any problems. I have tried resetting network settings on both devices and rebooting my router with no luck.
Please advise.Hello dlove103

my mini is connected to the wifi network, but is not able to connect to the working internet... can anybody help, please?
192 is local address within your network.
Unless the adddress is of a server that can reolve URL names to ip addresses you wont be able to load an external web page.
You can check what it should be by checking your router status page.
Or if you have an iOS device check under settings, W-Fi, select the network your attched to, then see what is next to DNS.

I am able to connect to my wifi network but am not able to connect to other computers on my network
I am able to connect to my wifi network but am not able to connect to other computers on my network. I have installed windows 7 on parallels desktop, from windows i am able to access my network computers. But from Mac i can only access internet but not network computers Please help
Ok, well if you're sure that there are shared folders on your PC's, then try this:
Click somewhere on desktop, so you're in finder > Go > Connect to Server (shortcut to all of this is Command + K) then type in: smb://ipaddresshere
eg:
smb://192.168.1.7
Then either connect as guest, or login with the PC's (not your mac's) username & password. -

3. Microsoft router MN-500:
Tried this old router (the one I used before purchasing the LinkSys). It is an old (circa 2002) Wireless B base station with WEP Security. The iPhone was never able to connect to the Internet using various settings, many of which were duplicates of the LinkSys tests above.
On both routers my wife's Dell laptop and my HP printer connect without incident, using the same network/security settings.
I have always been able to connect to various unsecured WiFi networks; I have never been able to connect to a secure WiFi network (although the only one I've really tried has been my own).
I am at a loss as to what to do next. Any suggestions?SUCCESS!!!!!
I visited my brother-in-law yesterday and attempted to connect with his secure network. By sheer luck, he is using the exact same model LinkSys router. My iPhone connected first time--so the iPhone was eliminated as a source of the problem.
I didn't do a lot of troubleshooting at his house, but I did notice that his network was set for both dynamic DHCP and dynamic DNS. I know that either or both of Windstream (my ISP) and my broadband modem requires a pair of static DNS addresses.
Sure enough, delving real deep into Windstream's support site, I discovered a LinkSys router DNS help page, specifying how to set static DNS addresses in LinkSys routers. I then accessed my router, enterd the known static addresses, saved the router settings, then rebooted the iPhone and connected to the network.
SUCCESS!!!
Thanks to Jane, who suggested it was an ISP issue, Jason, and all at Apple support. dumonj, I'll email you directly. Try this suggestion and see if it helps. -
My Iphone calendar connects with my wifes calendar but does not connect with my ipadmini
My Iphone calendar will connect with my wife's ipad calendar but I cannot get it to connect to my new ipad mini calendar. What to do?
My experience with hotel wifi is that it's an open, and unsecured, connection, but unless you agree to their terms on a launch page, you can't go any further or connect. Sometimes I need to force safari to come up and even make it go to a page, to trigger the auto load of the 'agree to our terms' page.
Unless your machine is work provided so maybe could be blocked from unsecured net access? -
My apple TV is finding and connecting to the Wifi network but then says it is not connected to the internet and then I cannot find it on the iPad through airplay. I don't want it connected to the internet (as in www.) because for the use I have I only need to use the Apple tvs locally in a sports hall as scoreboards. I have 3 others working on the same router and they are working fine (as of yesterday)
On my screen I see (obviously not written like this)
network connect- yes
signal strength- fine
Ip address- fine
DCN- fine
Activation- Failed
This is the only negative I can find and the statement that the Apple TV has connected to the wifi but is not connected to the internet.
Where has it gone wrong for me. Please helpIt is not properly connected to the network.
Make sure location is set correctly
DNS should be on auto (settings - general - network)
Try ethernet
Signal strength on device won't account for issues, you would need a network report from istumbler, netstumbler or similar. This will show accurate signal strength along with noise and nearby networks -
My iPhone 4 wont connect to my wifi router anymore since the 5.0.1 update, help
Im having trouble with my iPhone 4 not being able to connect to my D-Link router since the latest update. I've tried both my "passphrase" password (which worked before), the WEP 64-bit HEX pass word, and the WPS PIN located on the back of the router. Please if anyone has any info to this subject any help would be awesome. I use the internet and use the phone to transmit to my apple tv on the regular. And without wifi I can no longer do that Please Help.
Did what it said to do and worked like a charm after I restarted the phone. Wish I would have thought of that sooner lol. The only issue I had would be updating the firmware to my DLink Xtreme wireless N router. Couldnt find a program that would open the updates But thats for a different forum. Thanks for all the great help

How can I connect to my wifi router, but still use my cellular data?
I have setup a (off the internet) router at work to allow other Iphone users to connect with each other, as well as use the Apple TV. My Iphone 4S tries to use the wifi for email, web browsing, youtube, Netflix, etc... I would like to use my cellular data to load Netflix and such, and then stream them over my local wifi to the Apple TV. Is there a setting I can change that will allow me to do this? Thank you.
Nope. You connect to either WiFi or the cellular data network, not both at the same time.

I am using iPhone 4s. I can connect to my home wifi network but it works briefly, then whilr it shows connected with good signal strength, but I can not open a page in safari. I have to turn off the wifi and turn it on again for connection. This goes on and on. Very annoying. Please can anyone solve this problem?
Hi ,
thx for the feedback,to clarify my question :
1-i am able to connect to any wifi network in airports, public places , my home , office , etc.o to get in is no problem.
2-I can also log in into a specific website eg: was in Paris 2 days ago and could log in into the portal of a wifi provider.
3-But when i have to log in providing an e-mail address or other info , i get into a loop where i can not get into the next page but i do get always redirected to the page asking all the info.
This is not only at an airport , i do have it also with my own internet service provider , even if i want to log in from my home into their webmail site i get into this loop where after putting in all the inlog data i get that same page back every time.( i can get mail through my normal mailbox , no problems here)
I do have indeed OS 6 and it is an iPad 2.I do not have the problem with an iPhone 4 S when i use wifi and here i also do have os 6 !! -

Iphone connects to secured wifi network but cant surf the internet
I am trying to connect to the wifi at the office, it's a 64 bit WEP secured network (I enter a 10 character hex key). The Iphone connects to the network and is assigned a valid IP address. But when I try www.google.com or 64.233.167.99 for example, it fails with 'Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding'.
It all works fine at home on my non secured wifi network.
Please, can someone help? Thanks. Are you 100% sure the WiFi at your work has access to get out...and also, I assume they know you are getting on it. Not sure what type of office you are at (eg: large business with network support/admin or at a small office where you or somebody right there set it up).
But if large office with network admin...could be they locked it down with MacAddresses as well. -
Can connect to wireless on Windows but not Mac OS?
I can connect to my wireless network on my newly boot camped Windows XP. However, now I cannot connect to it on my Mac OS X. I have 10.6.8. I can see my wireless network, it doesn't have a password and everytime I try to connect it attempts but then says the connection timed out. Help?
You need to check the setting for the "Automatic" location. Try this:
System Preferences > Network
Select the AirPort from the left hand side
Click on the Locations combo box and select "Automatic"
Click on Advanced
Select the AirPort tab and enter your network name. Delete all other named networks
Select TCP/IP tab.
Configure IPv4 Using DHCP
Now click on Renew DHCP Lease. After a few seconds you should get an IP address (probably 192.168.x.x)
Click on Proxies tab.
Select Auto Proxy Discovery and Use Passive FTP
Click on OK and Apply, etc.
