IPhone 5S cannot make purchase with App Store (login issue)

Ok - I am rather irritated.  I tried to purchase a 99 cent app, and upon tapping the purchase button, the App Store insisted that I enter my Apple ID password (what happened to using your fingerprint, which worked when I bought the phone?).  Ok - so I enter the correct password.
I am then confronted with another window that states that I need to confirm my ID - and it has me enter my password again - then says I need to answer two security questions... which I did.  It tells me I did not answer one or both correctly and to try again.  I again entered what I absolutely KNOW is the correct info - and it repeatedly gave the same message... until it finally said I would be locked out from making any further purchases, and to contact customer support.
Funny - I can log in using iTunes on my MacBook Pro and am having no issues whatsoever with that.  I can view my account, make purchases, etc.
So what gives?

I have no idea what the deal is - but I somehow "fixed" this... I manually logged in to my apple ID on my MacBook Pro, went to the security section and confirmed my security question answers (I had them right, just as I thought).  Closed out that page, went back to my iPhone and simply tapped the "go" button again (same answers, same questions) - and it logged in just fine...
Must have been an App Store glitch...

  • Unable to make purchases from app store on iphone5

Each time I try to it tells me verification is required.  I hit continue and am prompted to enter my Apple ID password.  Once that is entered I am taken to my account settings to verify the payment type.  I enter in the only missing field, the 3 digit security code and hit done.  I then get a message saying "Your session has timed out.  Try again."  I have tried over and over with no success.

Solution can be found in this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19639423#19639423
Basically, update your payment info in the iCloud settings, NOT through the store. Worked for me on iTunes...haven't tried the App Store yet.

How do I correct this problem?  I have updates for my apps on my iPhone 4 and I can not update because my phone will not connect to the app store.  I don't want to sync and update via my Mac, I want to updated direct through my phone.

Thank you for responding to my question and for your help.  I tried a reset and it still didn't connect to the iTunes store.
My 3G and wifi connection are fine.  I can connect to safari and check my emails on my iphone.  For some strange reason I can not connect to the iTunes store.
I have an iPad2 and it connected to the iTunes store and updated.  Hopefully this 'glitch' will work itself out. Thanks again for your respone.

  • Problems with App Store Login!!!

    Hi all,
I'm having problems logging in to the App Store (and iTunes) on my 1G touch.
On the iMac we are using 3 different itunes accounts and I often try to buy something from the app store and one of the other accounts are active on the touch despite never having logged into them on the touch itself.
Since it doesn't have an option to log out on the touch version of the app store and I don't know the passwords to the other accounts I seem locked out to all purchases
How can I log out of the accounts on the touch.
    Please help!
    Rich

You can fix this by logging into the correct account on the iMac and then syncing your iPod touch. The iPod picks up whatever account is currently logged in when you sync, so always check that before syncing if there are multiple accounts in the house. Good luck!

  • App Store Login Issue

I am have trouble logging into the App Store for an update. It will not allow me to enter my Apple ID, only my password.
I'm using Mavericks 10.9.5 on an old Mac mini.

Why did the latest upgrade of Mavericks, Safari etc. work then?
Was Mavericks on it when you got it? I've heard that OS updates can be done (and Safari is a system installed application, so that would work as well whereas apps purchased/downloaded from the app store separately do not); however, have you tried to reinstall the OS?  If it is tied to the previous owner, that usually does not work. If you wish to experiment to find out, simply restart in recovery mode (holding Command + R keys during boot up or restart until you see the Utilities screen - it may take a while). Once there, click on "reinstall Mac OS X" and see what will be offered (which OS version, any error messages, or whatever). Make a note of that, dismiss it and restart into your normal HD.

-If you established a rescue email address, there will be a link on the "Passwords & Security" page of id.apple.com.  Clicking the link will send the reset to your rescue email address (NOTE:  This is not the same address as your Apple ID email)
-If there is no link on the page, then you didn't establish a rescue email address.  Contact AppleCare at 800.694.7466 (If you are in the US), and ask for account security.  You will need to answer some questions to verify your identity, AND you will need access to a computer to generate a temporary support pin.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

  • App will not download to iPad when purchased from App Store - stuck with Cloud icon

Device : iPad Air 32gb wi-fi model (not cellular data)
OS version : 7.1.1 (up to date)
    Location : UK
Problem : App will not download to iPad when purchased from App Store - stuck with Cloud icon
Last night I tried to download an app over wi-fi onto my iPad Air, but the app did not install.
I have plenty of space (the app is 24.1mb, I have 3.4gb free space) and there are no restrictions whatsoever on my iPad - no blocks on App store purchases, no age-related restrictions, no country restrictions etc.
Normally from the App Store page you would tap the price (in this case the app was free), enter your iTunes password, and the app would download.
Also a new icon appears on the home screen and a circle shows the progress of the download.
    However this did not happen.
Instead I have the Cloud icon (the one that shows when you have bought an app but it is not currently installed on your device) and a message that says "You've already purchased this, so it will be downloaded now at no additional cost".
If I press OK I am then prompted to enter my iTunes password, the Cloud symbol briefly changes to a circle (and I mean for a split-second, like the blink of an eye) and then the Cloud symbol appears again.
The app does not download - in fact it does not even *attempt* to download.
I have tried this >20 times now and it always occurs excatly like this.
After Googling this problem (which seems common) and reading over a dozen threads on this forum plus Apple's own official support pages, this is what I've tried:
I can re-download other apps that I have previously purchased on this iPad, with no problems.
I purchased another app on my iPhone 5 and was then able to download onto my iPad with no problems.
I have reset my iPad >5 times - both by pressing/holding the home/power buttons, and also a full switch off and restart.
I have logged out of my iTunes account on the iPad, and logged back in.
The wi-fi is Virgin Media fibre optic broadband with a verified speed of 20 meg (confirmed by Speedtest) plus an 802.11-n Belkin router and my iPad will happily load web pages, stream videos on YouTube, download other apps etc.
I have reset/rebooted my internet connection
In an attempt to eliminate by broadband connection from the possible causes, I have switched off my router, linked my iPad to the hotspot feature on my iPhone and tried to download the app over cellular data, but still cannot download the app.
I have tried on 2 other wi-fi networks but still cannot download this one app.
My iTunes account has a cerdit balance from an iTunes card, but the app was free anyway
Nothing I try will download the app in question.
The app is iPad only, so I cannot install on my iPhone to try and kick-start the process.
I guess I could install the app on my computer and then sync the iPad, but that's *working around* the problem - it's not *fixing* the problem.
(Since getting the iPad I use almost never use my computer. And anyway what if I did not have a computer? Didn't iOS go "PC-free" with version 5?)
I would like to call Apple but my 90-day telephone support has expired (the iPad is around 6 months old) and I don't want to buy Apple Care for this one problem.
I can't make it to an Apple Store to speak to a Genius.
Bearing in mind the list of things I've already tried, what do I do next?
Thanks in advance for any support.

    Hi there.
Thank you very much for your quick reply, it's really appreciated.
No need to apologize, I actually found the phrase "If your iPad ever craps the bed" amusing under the circumstances
I checked the list of installed apps like you suggested (Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Show all apps) but this problem app is not in the list. I have also swiped down on the home screen to search for it, but again it does not show.
While it has not let me download the app (and I just tried it again) it has helped me to eliminate a few things from the list of what to try, and I can definitely conclude that it has not downloaded.
I guess I need to fire up my PC and download it / sync my iPad.
    Thanks again for your help

  • Unable to make purchases with my new Mac in iTunes Store.

I am unable to make purchases with my new Mac in iTunes Store.
I can buy with  my iPhone or my company lap-top (Windows) without any problems. Only with my brand new MacBook Pro it is impossible.
When I try to authorize my Mac, sure dialog window appears and I give my ID and password. Then I get error message: "There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer. The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed." The same message I get, when I try to deauthorize.
If I try to buy anything (pushing button "Buy"), then I get following error message:
"iTunes couldn`t download your purchase. You don`t have write access for your iTunes Media folder or a folder within it. Change permissions (in the Finder) and then choose Store--Check for available downloads".
But I have such a permission!!! I can see it!!!
I have even made so, that "everyone" and "staff" also  have permission "read and write" in folder iTunes and all subfolders.! :))
When I ask for "available downloads" immediately I get the same answer: " iTunes couldn`t download your purchase. You don`t have write access for your iTunes Media folder or a folder within it. Change permissions (in the Finder) and then choose Store--Check for available downloads"
    I have done:
    1. I have used the Terminal to correct the permissions (in Finder it looked correct anyway).                    -          NO Result.
    2. With Disk Utility I have verified and repaired Disk permissions. (There were approx. 10-12 incorrect values and 3 of them  concerned iTunes and other - Jawa ).           -           NO Result.
    3. I have moved all iTunes files in Thrash and installed iTunes again (previously downloaded from App Store ).                    -          No Result.
    4. I have verified Disk permissions with Disk Utility again. There was nothing wrong, but in spite of this I have pushed the button "Repair Disc Permissions".          -          NO Result.
    5. New installation of iTunes again.           -          No Result.
Can it be, that the reason of a problem are not correct transferred data from my old MacBook?

    with my new Mac
You have a warranty.  Take advantage of it!  Call tech support or call the iTunes store.

Here is an update and more information:  I actually have two MBP's.  One is a mid-2009 model and one is a new, mid-2012.  I transferred files from the mid-2009 to the mid-2012, but I use both computers frequently.  This problem only occurs on the mid-2009 and not on the mid-2012.  I have authorized both computers.
