Iphone 5S:carrier settings

My carrier settings has been updated to LTE when i connected to itunes. But LTE has not yet been made available in INDIA. How to revert back to 3G?

I am not sure if it would work but its worth a try.
1.Make a backup of your phone in itunes.
2.Settings - General - Reset - Erase all content and settings
I think that should remove the carrier settings update as well
Then without restoring first check the option whether it allows you to use 2g.
Then you can restore and incase the settings come back after restore then again
Settings - General - Reset - Erase all content and settings
and this time setup your phone as new.
You can also try to restore your phone from itunes installing a fresh ios and then ignoring the carrier settings update.
It might work.

4G LTE iPhone 5: Carrier Settings Update never came

Hello,
Just to say, before I start: This question is related to Switzerland's Swisscom's 4G LTE network and iPhone 5.
I have updated to iOS 6.1 (for Swisscom 4G LTE compatibility, it's now compatible), but didn't get the carrier settings update, and when I reset the iPhone (including erase all content), I got the Carrier Setting Update and it enabled 4G LTE, but I have progressed in lots of apps and games (mainly apps), and it will be very difficult to do a full restore and recover all my progress etcetera. How can I get the Carrier Settings Update? I went to Swisscom, and they said to erase the iPhone, but again this would be a big inconvenience and I am trying to avoid it.
Sorry about any problems: I'm not very tech savvy with iOS devices, and this is my first post here so I may have put in the wrong section.

Well, I've connected my phone to iTunes, and still nothing has come. My friend's iPhone 5 did have enable LTE, when he updated and I believe he got it over the air, and didn't connect it to iTunes. iTunes is still syncing...

It's suddenly appeared. My three friend's iPhone 5's carrier settings update came straight away after updating this morning (we updated together), and mine has come about 7 and a half hours later... but still, it's come. I don't think this was related to iTunes (by the looks of it).

ITunes 10.5.1.42 Bug - Repeated Update Carrier Settings Prompts on syncing with iTunes

iPhone Version: 4
iOS: 5.0.1
iTunes: 10.5.1.42
Operating System: Windows XP
Location: Australia
Phone Carrier: Virgin Mobile http://www.virginmobile.com.au
Problem:
On syncing iPhone 4 with iTunes 10.5.1.42, the message "An update to the carrier settings for your iPhone is available. Would you like to install it now?" appears, EVEN AFTER it was successfully installed previously.
It seems to affect Virgin Mobile (Australia) customers only.
Replicable: Yes
Click on "Check for Updates" via "About" on iTunes, you will get the same message again.

ITunes could not update the carrier settings on your iPhone

When I try to download and install the new carrier settings file, I get the message "iTunes could not update the carrier settings on your iPhone. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." (I got a similar message when I tried to download and install the OS update.)
I've been able to work around the problem by creating a different user and installing from there. But I'd like to be able to find and correct the cause of the error message instead of using a workaround. It seems like there's a file or folder somewhere that has somehow become read-only. Does anyone know where iTunes downloads the carrier settings and OS update files?

Right after I posted the message I thought that the age-old placebo of repairing permissions might actually fix my problem. Because of your quick reply I found the ownership problem before repairing permissions. So here was the perfect chance for a test. Repair Permissions ran successfully but the owner of ~/Library/iTunes was still root. Repair Permissions fails the test.
I manually changed the owner to steve and was able to download and install the carrier settings.

I have a factory unlocked iPhone 3GS (eg: purchased from Apple). I received the same message at some point and eventually (after reading a bit more) accepted "Download and Update". No problem. No apparent bad effects. It just seems to update things specific to the carrier (Bell Mobility in my case).

I inherited my husband's iphone 4s. After erasing all of the previous settings, updating to ios 8 I went on icloud to set it up. During the set up, the screen froze on "carrier settings update". I can reboot, but the message comes right back.

This is a phone re-set from a previous user. Reset from icloud. Froze during set up, on "carrier settings update" and has the phone number pad with it. I reboot but it comes back and I can't get past it.

In using it, I found out other's have had this issue and it likely means you have a 3G iPad? If you do, go into settings and turn off cellular data, then try to update again and you should be OK........

I get the same error (although in Dutch ;-)).
It also says something like (I'm translating): "Make sure your network settings are correct and your networkconnection is active or try again later." Is there a way to find out these "correct networksettings"?
I now get it for a week, eacht time I connect my iPhone to itunes...

IPhone carrier settings

My iPhone (5s) has trouble connecting to T-Mobile. What happens is instead of saying the carrier of my phone, it just says 'Searching...'. This has been going on now for I wanna say about a week or two. I have tried things like turning off my phone, updating my phone, and going into settings and looking at the carrier settings. I do not understand why it is not connecting to it's carrier. Any ideas?

Go to Settings/General/About and tap on Carrier. If there has been a carrier settings update you will be asked if you want to install it. (If there is none nothing will happen when you tap).
If the problem persists after that call T-Mobile support or visit a T-Mobile corporate store. Call first, and ask about any known network issues.

If your phone is factory unlocked, or officially unlocked by your carrier, updating will NOT re-lock the phone. If it was unlocke by unauthorized methods, any update or restore will re-lock it.

When I click on the "Learn More" button in the dialog box it takes me to a generic iTunes support page that has no relevance to carrier settings.

I got this three times within the last 4 hours and have been getting it almost every day since I use my new iPhone 6 - over a week now. This happens almost every time I connect the phone to my MacBook Pro, although every time I confirm and it indicates successful update.
It is highly unlikely that my carrier updates settings on daily basis or three times a day. It is almost surely a bug in the Apple system and anything but a timely and effective solution is unacceptable.
For debugging information, I recovered a backup from my former iPhone 5 onto the new one, using the same carrier and SIM.

Updated Carrier Settings - All 3rd party apps now crash on startup.

Updated the new Carrier Settings today. Now all 3rd party apps on the iPhone crash on startup. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Just wanted to post in the event someone else had the same issue. I did a restore and reset. All third party apps went away (poof).
I had to manually re-install my apps from the app-store. Thank goodness iTunes tracks your previous purchases.

Reset carrier settings after changing the carrier

Hi,
I want to reset the old carrier settings under "settings -> general -> about" and remove a carrier button which was added by my old carrier under "settings -> phone". Is this possible?

You should be able to make the iPhone download the new carrier settings by tapping Settings > General > About, if it's a partner carrier.

Additional Information
Note: If you insert a new SIM or micro-SIM card into your iPhone or iPad, you'll need to download the carrier settings for the new carrier wirelessly. Carrier settings are available only for iPhone support carriers and iPad partner carriers. If you're not using a partner carrier, you will need to set up the carrier's settings manually. Refer to your carrier for appropriate settings.
Edit: What carrier are you trying to switch to? It sounds like you'll have to update the settings manually.
