Iphone 5s contacts
How can I get my iphone 5s contacts into my wifes iphone 5s? I synced both phones with itunes on my computer but my contacts do not show up on her phone. We have sharing set up. Calender and emails show up on her phone and mine but not iphone contacts. We also have our contacts on icloud but can't figure out how to share them.
You're welcome. If you're still interested in having access to each other's contacts while maintaining separate iCloud accounts (IDs), you can still do that. You can each go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud and sign in with the other person's iCloud ID, then turn on Contacts. This will add each other's account to your phones as a secondary account, allowing you to access each other's contacts while keeping your other data separated. Their contacts will then appear alongside yours in the Contacts app on your phone. If you do this, you'll want to make sure in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) that you select your own account as the default. That will ensure that new contacts are added to your own account by default, not the other person's account. Also be aware that this gives you both full read and write access to each other's contacts. Any changes to any of the contacts (including deleting them), will be reflected on both phones.

Why is there missing info in the windows address book fields after syncing iphone 4 contacts?
I am reaching the end of my rope trying to deal with syncing/backing up contacts and other "non copyright protected" content from my iphone 4 and my desktop (and preferably my laptop as well). I've spent literally days trying to solve this problem with ultimately no solution. So, cutting through my MULTIPLE issues and focusing on one primary I need help backing up my contacts from my iphone 4 to ANY computer. Here is what I am working with:
A relatively ancient (5yrs) Window XP desktop with virtually no contacts in Windows Address Book and with only the native Outlook Express on it.
An iphone 4 ios 4.3.1 that was initially and is still setup/synced with the above XP box (minus checking the sync contacts box).
An iphone 4 contact list that is primarily populated by about 200 contacts transfered from an old ATT SIM from the previous ancient phone.
A new Windows 7 laptop that I would love, love, love to use in conjuction with the XP for syncing/backing up not protected, personal data and iphone purchases.
So, with that in mind I have been syncing my phone with the XP w. the "manual manage music..." box checked and all other syncing options other than apps unchecked. I wanted to backup by contacts for emergency recovery and to allow sycncing for the increasing business contacts. Should be easy right? Not so much. I tried clicking the "sync contacts w/ windows address book" option and then synced. I go to WAB and the contact list is there. However, if I look w/in each contact the fields are not filled in. If it was a contact that had name, number, address on my phone the WAB version has the name listing but nothing in the number/addy fields. Now, this is true w/ virtually every contact and most were from that SIM transfer. HOWEVER, contacts that I added ON the iphone (ie manually w/ the phone) DO have complete information.
So, what do I do to make an actual, complete backup of all the contacts on my iphone w/o having to manually reinput all of the real information?? I'm frankly terrified that in trying multiple solutions I will lose all my phone contacts which at this point in my life would be absolutely devistating (ie I would probably lose my job). If it is a matter of newer hard/software I would gladly sync to the new Win 7 laptop instead but there I run into the other aggrivation of apple making it so bloody difficult to use one ios device with more than one personal computer. I'm dumbfounded and frustrated on soooooo many levels and would send countless good vibes to anyone who can help! Advice? Solutions? I'd promise my first born but who wants that these days...? Help, please! ;-)
BTW, sorry for the long wind but I'll add on my "optimal solution" if anyone is feeling especially helpful and has an answer:
I'd like to be able to plug my iphone into both my XP desktop and my Win 7 laptop and sync/backup to both freely (that is after all the real intent of syncing, non?) I don't care about music, videos, or other protected content. I manage that manually and frankly, I can do without having on the iphone as long as I can accomplish being able to sync/backup/restore all the iphone stuff like apps, settings, personal info, and contacts to both the desktop and the laptop. The purpose is that I need to be able to use and recover everything (on the road or at home) if either my laptop or my iphone dies/disappears. But, understanding impermanence as it relates to portable devices, I want a solid backup of everything at home waiting on my desktop. Is that really too much to ask apple???Seriously folks? I know it was long but I added all info to negate a need for endless back/forth clarifications. No answers???
FYI, i tried syncing contacts to google/gmail and it was a total clusterF as well. No gmail contacts, synced iphone, gmail contacts populated w/ all info but w/lots of repeat entries. Used seek and merge repeats in gmail and then resync but no such luck. Lots of iterations and nothing but fails. Seems everytime the phone and the gmail lists are "as desired" a new sync puts a ton of repeats back into gmail or onto phone. Still perplexed and still needing help....

Why aren't all of my iPhone 6 contacts automatically on my Macbook Pro?
My iPhone 6 is backed up to iCloud, however, even though my mid 2014 Macbook Pro (running Yosemite) is logged in to iCloud, only a small portion of my iPhone's contacts are present.
Note-
1. All updates are installed on both devices.
2. I double-checked in the setting to make sure that phone's contacts were backed up to icloud
3. My iPhone is set up to do sync to iCloud (and I would prefer to do it that way rather than setting up a local workaround)
Am i missing something? how is it that some of my phone's contacts are present and others aren't?
The issue persists on iCloud.com (when I login, only a portion of my contacts are present)
Thus, I'm thinking that this must have something to do with my phone not properly synching all contacts with iCloud. Suggestions?The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.

Unless you have the contacts backed up somewhere, you won't be able to restore them.
You and your son should have your own iCloud accounts then you can keep your own contacts and calendars etc and avoid deleting each others. -
How to sync iPhone 4 contacts to Mac address book

I can sync all my contacts from the Mac address book on my MacBook Pro to my iPhone 4. However, why does it not sync the iPhone contacts to the Mac address book? Should it not be like a two way sync? I was looking at the syncing options but it does give that option. I just want to make sure that I have the same contacts on my iPhone and Mac. I do understand that MobileMe does that. But till I can afford to have MobileMe, maybe there is another solution?
Anybody... help!I had a major drama doing this last night, have managed to restore my Address Book file with a backup after I mistakenly wiped all the contacts I had created on my iPhone. Yikes! I suggest when you sync your iPhone leave it plugged in after the sync until you check that the contacts are all where they should be. That way, the most recent backup that is done automatically when you plug in the iPhone will still have all your iPhone contacts should something go amiss and they can be restored. Also export your computer's Address Book (File>Export in Address Book) which should land in your Documents folder.
To get all my iPhone's contacts back into my Mac's Address Book, I created a group in my Mac Address Book called 'iPhones contacts'. When I synced the iPhone with my Mac, (Info tab>Sync Address Book Contacts in iTunes), I checked the box that says 'Add contacts created outside of groups on this iPhone to...' and checked the new 'iPhone contacts' group and when I synced, all the new contacts on the iPhone landed in my Mac's Address Book. Phew. Heartstopper! -
How do I transfer my iPhone 4S contacts to my MacBook Pro Adress Book?
What I Want: I want to sync my iPhone 4S contacts into the Address Book on my MacBook Pro.
Problem: Everything else syncs fine, but my contacts.
I have everything under iCloud turned On to sync onto my MacBook Pro, but it doesn't sync the contacts into the Address Book, or at all for that matter.
When I go into System Preferences, then try to choose iCloud(which is not there), I select MobileMe. I never remembered signing up for MobileMe before, but I still tried my icloud username/password with no luck. This is where it's weird. I restarted my laptop, click on MobileMe again and it had me logged in, except I get this error "An error was returned from the server" and I can't choose what to sync because it's all grayed out and unchecked. Does anyone know how to fix this?
P.S. Both devices are fully updated, latest OS and I just did a backup/sync with iTunes a few minutes ago, but same result. I tried it over the WiFi and hardwired.I would sign out again, then update your Mac (latest version, not 10.7.3 as shown in your signature), open "Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and then choose iCloud and sign in again. I would also do the same on your iOS device (sign out and in). Make sure to confirm the message when you will be asked to merge the contacts with iCloud.

My iPhone 5s contacts are no longer synching with Mercedes E class command system. It did 3 days ago but now it longer synchs my contacts - how do I get my contacts downloaded to the command system of my car?
status update -- I tried a lot of other things but finally solved the problem after I removed all the groups from mac address book. (thank-you to my son Ben)
FYI -- along the way I tried doing the reset sync history, which deleted all contacts from the iphone. I initially thought that was a good thing, until I discovered that nothing I tried after that would put the contacts back on the iphone. Next I restored factory settings on the iphone and set up as a new user, but that didn't work either. Or maybe it did; maybe deleting the groups wouldn't have solved the problem if I hadn't deleted all contacts and reset the iphone first. -

Problems syncing iPhone 4S contacts and calendar with Outlook 2007
Hello. I am having difficulties syncing my iPhone 4S Contacts and Calendar with Outlook 2007. It used to work perfectly with my iPhone 4, but now I am having difficulties both ways. That is, I add something to my Outlook 2007 Calendar, sync in iTunes, but it doesn't appear in my iPhone. Or, I add a Contact to my iPhone, sync in iTunes, but it doesn't appear in Outlook 2007. I believe I have the iTunes settings correct.
Me too. Think it is since 6.1.3.
Interesting other quirk is that as well as NOT syncing my calendar, it also unticks my calendar from pc on the iphone.
When ii retick it, i get the calendar back, but as it was before the sync, ie, it does not have the bnew events from my pc in it.
This is a 2 way problem.

Your daughter must have signed into your iCloud account, perhaps when she updated her phone. You can confirm this by going to Settings>iClloud on her phone and seeing if she is using the same iCloud ID.
To fix this you would need to migrate her phone to a separate iCloud account. To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos that she wishes to keep on your phone to her camera roll by opening her my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tapping the share icon (box with upware pointing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.
Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and provide the password when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone. This only deletes the account from her phone, not from iCloud; it won't effect your device(s). When you delete the account you will be asked if you want to keep or delete the iCloud data from her phone. If she needs to migrate a copy of the data to her new account, choose Keep; otherwise, choose Delete. Then sign back in with a separate Apple ID to create her new account and if migrating data to the new account, choose Merge when prompted.
Once she is on a separate account, if she migrated a copy of the data to her new account you can go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into her new iCloud account and delete your data from her account. -

Thank you.Contacts are stored on the device. The iPhone does not store contacts on the SIM. Make sure you have been backing up the device and syncing your contacts with a supported application on the computer or iCloud or other cloud service. Changing the SIM will not affect your contacts.

When you hooked your new iPhone up to your computer you should have been given the option to restore your information or set up the iPhone as new. If you chose to restore your information your contacts should be there.

Hey all,
I wanted to make you all aware of a glitch I just experienced with my iPhone 5 (black, 32 GB).
The glitch concerns the syncing of contacts between the iPhone 5 and my laptop.
I synced my contacts today and the order the information was displayed was randomized, in that it was not the order I chose, this affected the contacts app on both the iPhone and my laptop. For example, I have my phone number fields in this order: home, mobile, work; my e-mail address fields as: home, mobile (for text), mobile (for pics), work; I have a similar orders for URL fields as well.
On any given syncing session, for each contact, either all the fields within all categories will be in a totally different order, or some of the categories and their fields will be intact while one or two will be randomized. For example the order for my phone numbers might be randomized as work, home, mobile, NOT as I indicated above.
I spoke with Apple Tech Support and the particular tech said this is the first he’s heard of this problem, and that in syncing, the display of entries on the laptop app and on the phone should match. He suggested as a solution to back up the iPhone and restore the phone to the factory settings then restore the backed up files. They also advised they would alert the tech engineers.Thanks for the suggestion, which I ‘ve tried to no avail. I’ve also been through all the troubleshooting steps in the Apple guide.
I’ve done some more experimenting and I now think iCloud is the issue.
If I add contacts to iCloud they appear on both the phone and mac but not the other way round. Everything else (Calendar, Reminders etc.) syncs fine.
I noticed that in Notifications on the iCloud web site; mail, calendar, reminders and find my mac are all ticked but contacts doesn’t appear at all. Could this be significant?
Can anyone help?
(PS my earlier comment that contacts added to the mac appear on the phone was wrong)
