IPhone 5S home button seems loose.

The home button on my iPhone has a strange feel to it after about of week of use. When I press it, there is a slight click before the actual button press. It's really noticable when I double-click it for multi-task. Also, the touch-id won't work when the button is loose. Anyone else have a similar problem?

Same here as well- I exchanged my first iphone 5S a couple weeks ago under warranty for a defect in the oleophobic coating (had this weird smudge that you clean off, but once you started using the phone it would return.. and was visable against light backgrounds). Now this one has the 'double click' sound, if I'm push down the home button for a few a seconds it'll go away for a while- I'm guessing part of the adhesive isn't holding properly. I'll probably hold off on try to exchange it again- this one does much better with it's touchid sensor. The first one would give me a 'try again' 50% of the time for any of the fingers I programmed it for, even after relearning. The new I haven't received a single false negative yet.

Iphone 4 Home button not working after upgrade to OS 4.3.5.Please help!!!!!!!!

It seems that settings of mail accounts have something to do with it. I've delete my gmail account and am now using Microsoft Exchange. It seems better, yet not perfect. The issue is definitely due to OS 4.3.1
Apple answer is - no answer. It is a shame that the quality of their products, in terms of design and concept, is not match by a care for customers. It is not normal that I, as a customer, have to spend hours reading Apple Discussions forum to try to understand what the problem is. A little more respect for a customer that spend big $$$ buying their products wouldn't hurt.

  • HT1688 iPhone 4 home button problem

    Good afternoon,
I have an iPhone 4 and it still in good condition but sometimes, the Home button doesn't respond quickly or doesn't respond at all. What to do?

I seem to have fixed my iPhone 4 home button problems.
    1. Sync phone and back up.
    2. Go back and resync phone but uncheck all the apps you have purchased/downloaded so that your iphone will have no additional apps on it.
    3. Now reset your phone as a NEW PHONE.
    4. When reset as NEW, unplug it and try home button functions. I'll bet they work just fine, like mine did.
    5. Now that you are satisfied you can resync your apps, but be choosey. Re-install only a couple at a time, and test your home button each time. You'll soon find out which of your apps is causing the problem. It's time consuming and irritating, but it certainly works.
So far - no problems with my selected re-installed apps. My home button works fine.
However, I recently purchased several photography apps and an emoticon app and that was when the problems appeared to have started.
So I've been very selective in putting only the apps I want back on ... for now.
    Hope this helps.
I will report back to tell you if this complicated but effective solution has worked for me.

  • IPhone 5: home button gonna fall out?

when ever i press my home button on my phone it moves around and it feels like its gonna pop out. if i move my finger to the edge of it the other side of the home button will come up.. how do i fix this???

The iPhone Home button that you touch, floats in space in the glass cut-out circle of the front screen and the holding aparatus below it. Since it is a moving part there has to be some degree of free play or looseness. But how much is subjective. Since it bothers you, I think there is too much free play. Here is what I would do, make Genius reservation, go to Apple Store a few minutes before your appointment, test some of the iPhone 5 display models. See if your iPhone 5 Home button is different. If yes, then when you see the Genius show them the problem and it will be handled right there.

  • IPhone 4 home button stuck in the pressed down position

I'm on vacation and my iPhone's home button is stuck in the depressed position. There's pretty high humidity here, higher than back at home. How do I get it unstuck so I can use my phone again?

Your decription of the problem is not clear. Is the Home Button physically pushed down, ie partly under the front screen glass? Or is the Home Button in normal position but seems to be electronically firing off presses on its own?
You seem to be hinting at Liquid Damage (humidity). Keep your iPhone safe and dry.

Apple, as I said, does not repair your iPhone. All hardware service issues are handled by replacing the unit. So they can't handle the home-button issue without also addressing the issue of the cracked screen, for which they'll almost certainly charge you. But you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple tech support and plead your case.
    Regards.

  • My iphone 5 home button can spin an unlimited amount of times. Do I need to buy a replacement or can I fix it?

My warranty expired and I would prefer not to replace it with a non-OEM replacement.

If you are still under warranty, contact Apple to get it serviced. You can also visit an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Provider to get it looked at.

  • Out of the blue my iPhone 4S home button and notification centre has stopped working.

Out of the blue my iPhone 4S home button and notification centre has stopped working. I used the phone and switched it off. The next time I turned it on they weren’t working. The phone wasn’t dropped on banged around. – Any Ideas, Anyone??

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW.  Have ALL of these steps been tried?
If you've been through ALL these steps and still have problems, you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

  • HT4623 new iphone 5 home button not working (works 10% of the time, no rhyme or reason)

New iPhone 5, home button almost never works. I occasionally get Siri (which isn't helpful) but mostly have to restart the phone to get out of whatever app I'm in. ANNOYING!!!

Just to cover the obvious, you did peel the protective plastic covering the phone came with? It does not have prepunched holes for the button and the earpiece so the phone will work poorly with it on. Genuine scratch protectors that do have the appropriate cutouts are found at any respectable accessories dealer.
Else, has the phone been moistened accidentally? A wet home button will probably start failing like you mention.
Lastly, remember you're still on warranty for a year, even if you got it on Day One.

  • When i touch my iphone 5s home button it makes a small click sound before pressing completely. Is it normal ?

when i touch my iphone 5s home button it makes a small click sound before pressing completely. Is it normal ?

Mine does this too. I know EXACTLY what you mean. If you push lightly (not actually depressing the button) it makes a higher pitched "click". Like the saphire is getting caught up on the ring surrounding the saphire layer. Any input Apple???
My wifes 5S hasn't started this yet. Wondering what the issue is here? I have notices other threads with the same issues.

  • Home button seems sticky and difficult to push

My home button seems sticky after it sits a few minutes. If it is used a couple of times it gets easier to push. It also seems to make a louder click. Any thoughts on what I should do.

If it's stuck or feels physically damaged, you might be eilgible for service depending on your warranty. This is a hardware problem that should be covered under the warranty (if you still have warranty left).
