IPhone 5s just randomly shuts down

my iPhone 5s just randomly shuts down even though the battery is in 60-70% charged range.
It shows the battery icon with one thin red line, I plug it in to power and a minute later it comes on with battery in 60-70% range.
I cannot figure out what's going on !!

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again.
If this does not help, get your phone checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or Apple Store next to your place.
You can also contact Apple Support and talk to them. They can check the battery online.
Or visit this page to do that: iPhone - Contact Support - Apple Support
Click on Apple Support, then on ->Battery, Power &Charging ->Battery questions and troubleshooting, and follow the instructions.

  • My iphone 4 just randomly shut down and it won't respond to anything.  Black, dead, nada.

Can I reboot?  I've tried holding down the button for a period of time.  I've tried pressing the top button.  Nothing. I've plugged into my lap top.  Nothing.

After posting I checked other "like" threads and did the 2 button reboot.  It worked.  I'll check out the troubleshooting site as well.  Is this an indication that something is going wrong with the device?
    Thanks so much!!

Ignore the MacKeeper ad no matter what else you decide.
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.
Just sits there occupying very little space & never interfering, unless you need to invoke it in Single User Mode.

Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on
Power or other problems related to unexpected system sleep, shutdown, lights or fans call for an SMC reset. Read all the steps.
    Before Resetting the SMC
Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC. Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Sleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
Restart your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
Shut down your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if it's not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • IPhone 4s apps randomly shutting down, overheating, battery isn't holding much charge. HELP!!!

Hello, I bought an iPhone 4s in November 2013. The phone is through Sprint. (didn't know if that made a difference or not.) In the past 7 months the phones apps have been opening & shutting right down, the app might stay on for 2 minutes if you're lucky. It started out with my Facebook app shutting down, then it progressed to other apps & the repeated random shutdowns have been getting worse. The phone itself overheats without even being plugged into the charger. The Safari is now beginning to close randomly. I called my carrier & they said that they could run a diagnostics test on my phone to see what's making it do what it's doing. Since the phone has been shutting down & randomly shutting apps off for over 7 months, they've ruled out the option of it being a bad software through Apple. Has anybody else had this problem & what are your suggestions on how to fix it? I've already reset my phone just about every time it shuts down & it hasn't helped at all.

    Hi sydrenae2012,
Given your description of the issues you are experiencing, I would make sure my data is backed up, then try restoring the iPhone to factory settings and testing to see if the issues persist in the default configuration before restoring any other data. This should help narrow down the possible causes. You may find the following article helpful:

  • Does anyone elses iPhone 5 just randomly shut off or freeze on a blue screen after only having it for a week??

I got a white 16G iPhone 5 last Sunday (Jan 6th 2013) and I have already been on the phone with apple once and in the store twice about this issue. The phone randomly shuts itself off or freezes on a blue screen for 5-30 minutes at a time. Apple reset my phone thinking that would fix the issue, it didnt. I went into the Sherway location while it was frozen and they told me i couldnt get an appointment until tomorrow so ill have to wait... I'm hoping that they just gave me a dud of a phone and that when i go back in tomorrow they will just give me a new phone because this is getting ridiculous. if this problem continues once they finally give me a new one than i suggest that no one else buys the iPhone 5. I had the 4 and had only one problem in a year and a half, and i've had more in one week with this model. Let me know if anyone else is experiencing this too or if my phone is just a dud.

First I would try restoring from your backup. If that does not work I would restore to factory-new condition and manually add apps and other things back on since there may be something corrupted in your backup.

  • Computer just randomly shuts down, is sluggish

    Hi all,
Been having a problem with my HP Pavillion 774e (runs Windows XP) for the past month or so now. . .it just shuts down at the most random times. Typically I will start the machine, get going on the internet, and then foom. . .it just shuts off and restarts itself. There are no error messages when this happens. It also seems very sluggish when I start it; it doesn't have the typical whir that it usually has; it's just slower and seems to catch and click a lot more than usual.  Sometimes when it restarts, it seems like it's trying to catch, like an engine that you are trying to start with a key, clicking and buzzing over and over.
I've tried a number of things to try to get it to not do this. I've opened up the computer, and cleaned it out thoroughly, I've run a malware scan, virus scan, run my copy of AVG PC Tuneup and cleaned things up, so I'm fairly certain it's not a virus/malware. I've also set the computer to not shut down on system failure in the control panel, and it doesn't help. I just can't figure it out. I've looked on many different forums for advice on what to do and I've seen advice about replacing motherboards, the power supply, etc.
I've also thought about doing a system restore (it seems to have begun when I had a windows update not install properly), but I'm concerned because if I go back that far, it would be before I ran the AVG PC Tuneup and downloaded a newer version of AVG 2012 (not sure if that would affect things, but it's why I'm concerned). I also worry because the thing doesn't stay on long enough to do anything; I just started it again and it shuts down in about two minutes. Safe mode also doesn't seem to help; it shuts down in there too.
Any advice on what to do with this machine? I don't want to junk it; it worked OK until just recently. But now, it's completely unreliable. By the way, I'm not an online gamer at all; I just want to use this thing for simple wordprocessing, powerpoints, and internet surfing.

seems like your power supply has started to show signs of it failing. Seeing that your computer is an older hp computer, its about time for something to show signs of getting wore out.

  • IMac 27" 2010 i7 Just randomly shutting down

So I've noticed this when I forget to turn up the fan speeds via iStat (normally the computer gets very hot if I don't keep the fan speeds medium) where the computer after extensive use (Eclipse, dual monitor with old 30' Apple Cinema Display) and just a normal hot summer, the computer will at times just shut down without warning. I hear a pop of the speakers and it's just off. Restarting shows no warning of such. I'm taking the computer to the Genius Bar this week while it's still in warranty, but any ideas in the mean ti

It's possible that your iMac turns off automatically because of the temperature inside it. If the temperature is too hot, your iMac will turn off because of security.
You do the right thing taking it to an Apple Store, because it may indicate a problem with fans. Your iMac sets fan speeds automatically depending on the heat, so it may indicate that fans aren't working correctly. The Genius will tell you what the problem is and will propose the solution. Also, if you can, keep cool the place where the iMac is, because hot temperatures may affect to the hardware and cause problems in the future

  • I'm in an app and it just randomly shuts down why?

    Hi ,
When I'm playing a game or other type of app it just randomly closes the app half way through. I've done all updates and it still happens
I've cleared some storage. Stil happens - are apple doing this so I upgrade and pay money for a newer version iPad?

Force close all apps in multi-task window.
    1. Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking view
    2. Swipe the app's windows upwards to close
    3. The app will fly off the screen

  • Iphone 3gs keeps randomly shutting down

My iPhone 3GS has just recently started locking up at random times; sometimes entering an app, whilst in use of app, trying to keystroke in, and when leaving an app. The screen goes blank but most of the time there are portions of back lite screen in random width and numerous vertical slices lite up in black color. I have to press and hold the power button for several moments to get it to start back up. In a 3 of the 12 cases after this occured the battery lost half its charge requiring a plug in power source to boot back up.
What could be potentially causing these failures?

To make sure that it is not a firmware problem, reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again. If this does not help, set it up "as new device" without using the latest backup, in case it is damaged.
How to set up your iPhone or iPod touch as a new device
Does it also start locking up when connected to the computer or adapter? If no, get your battery checked, this might be battery problem then.

  • My iPhone 4 just randomly shut off and wont turn back on

i was in class and got a text that i ignored. during the class, i got 2 or 3 more vibrations, notifications or new texts, i dont know.
once class was over, i decided to check my texts, however, my phone wouldn't turn on.
i tried holding the power button for a tad, thinking it might've shut off on its own, knowing it was pretty much full charge, maybe at about 91% battery life.
i know the phone shuts off at around 3% to conserve memory, and when this happens it shows you a red empty battery image when you try to turn it and then shuts off again. this did not happen so im pretty sure it's not the battery. i thought perhaps it had overheated so i waited a few hours. it's been around 9 hours, i don't think it overheated. i plugged it in the charger, that didnt do anything. i waited half an hour as i know when the battery is really low, it doesnt turn on right away when you plug it in. nothing happens i can't seem to get it to work. my computer doesn't recconize it either.
i have tried all combinations of buttons. i've held the power button, i've held the home button for 10 sec, i've held both, i tried putting it in DFU mode but NOTHING is working. im seriously panicking because i am no longer in warranty and it really ***** that it just broke like that while i was doing nothing...
if anyone can please help me get this baby running again, ill much appreciate it

Hold the Main Screen Button for a few seconds, then press the top button. My iPhone4s does this, I havent really found a solution on why it does this. But I found the solution to turn it back on, Holding the Main Screen Button for a few seconds then pressing the top button worked for me. If I find out why it does this and how to fix it, ill be back to repost.

  • My iPhone 5 just randomly shut off and it won't turn back on. What do I do?

I pulled my phone out of my pocket to check something and i hit my home button to open my phone and it wouldnt turn on. I tried the lock button and that didnt ework either. I thought my phone may have died so i tried to turn it back on and that didnt work. It had about a 40% battery and this has not occured any in the past. Please help!!!

Connect iPhone to Wall Charger for 10 minutes, it may turn ON itself. If still nothing, keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until the iPhone begins to respond.

  • Iphone 5s randomly shuts down

    Hey,
I have an iphone 5s that randomly shuts down.  Made a genius bar appointment and was told I had too many apps running(!!!) and I should kill them all and all would be fine. Surprise surprise that didnt solve the problem. I took if back to the genius bar two days ago, they swapped the phone for a new one and I started again from scratch. No restore or  anything I think is potentially corrupt-bar my apple ID all is completely new and clean. Re-downloaded all my apps from the store fresh etc. etc. A day later the new phone is doing exactly the same thing. This is driving me crazy!!
    Anybody have any advice?
