if you have a Mac or a PC with iTunes installed you may be able to do this. If your screen is broken but your iPhone still reacts to touch you have to just turn it off, and if your iPhone doesn't respond to touch, you have to hold both home and power buttons for about 7 seconds (it might not work from the first try) so that it shuts down. Afterwards get your lightning to USB cable connected to the computer but not to the phone. You hold your phone's home button and while holding it, you connect it to the cable, iTunes should say something like "iTunes detected iPhone in recovery mode"and a window with a restore button should pop up. You click on the restore button and iTunes will walk you through the process afterwards. If the iPhone has Find my iPhone feature activated you will have to enter your Apple ID password at the activation process after the iPhone is restored.

You are able to sync purchased content from your iDevice to a new computer as long as the comptuer is authorized
To authorize the computer follow these steps
At the topi of the screen next to File- Edit -View, click store then Authorize this computer.
Enter in your appleID email address and password and click authorize
**If you do not see the File Edit View option, At the very top left corner you should see a little square click the square and click show menu bar.
Now that your computer is authorized click the file menu button, then click Devices, then go to your iPhones name and then click Transfer purchases this will allow you to transfer all of your purchased content to the computer
Now if you want to transfer your non purchased content to the computer you can do so if you have wif and the previous computer on the same network as the new computer with home sharing

When I plug my iPhone into my computer to sync my iTunes I get a message that says "iTunes cannot read the content of the iPhone" and wants me to restore my phone back to factory settings. Any suggestions so that I don't have to restore? I have all of my stuff backed up on iCloud but I really don't want to go through the hassle of wiping it clean and putting everything back on.
This is a post from a user named edgar999 and it worked PERFECTLY:
"OK - this is how it works:
In order to backup from iCloud you cannot use iTunes!
Therefore disconnect your device from your computer.
Turn on your device and go to Settings and then go to General.
At the bottom of this submenu there is a buttom "Reset"
If you push that buttom you see 6 different Erase settings to chose from!
Chose "Erase All Content and Settings" because this will wipe everything from your device and will let you restore from iCloud! (I tried the top "Reset All Settings" but that did not let me use iClouds afterwards!)
Once you pushed that buttom your device will be wiped clean and after some time you will see the Device Welcome Screen like on a new device!
After choosing your location you will be asked to setup your WiFi-conection. After you joint to your Wifi you will be given the choice to restore the iPad from a backup from the iCloud. Choosing this backup will prompt you with your apple ID and password.
Restoring from a backup can take some time. The process uses your Wi-Fi connection to download settings, content and data. If you had a lot of content on your device, this can take a while. The restore screen should give you estimates at each stage of the restore process, starting with restoring the settings and then booting into the iPad. When the iPad home screen appears, the device will continue the restore process by downloading all of your applications.
If you are restoring from a backup because you have run into problems with your device that can only be solved by restoring it, you can first choose your latest backup. If you still have problems, you can move on to the next latest backup, repeating the process until (hopefully) the problem is cleared."

well, you probably have a corrupt file as the message indicates. You will need to reset your phone back to factory settings as indicated.
If you've been using your phone as designed, you've been making frequent backups so that data loss will be minimal, if at all.

You can't backup the iPod t iTunes then. You will have to use an existing iTunes backup.
If iCloud backup is turned on and the iPod is still working (not disabled), the iPod will automatically backup daily if an internet connection is available and the iPod is connected to a charging source. -
My iphone calendar stopped syncing with outlook 7 thru the cloud. I clicked on outlook tools, trust center, add ins. I noted that icloud add in had been disabled. I tried to re enable it but got a message that this change could only be done by administrator. I am the administrator. Help???? Any ideas?
I do not believe this. I have been going nuts trying everything as in prior posts, and this has been a problem for users at least since 2010. I had this problem a long time ago and didn't pay too much attention to it because it was my iPad, and I depended on my BB a a base calander to feed Outlook. I became very concerned within the past week when I switched my BB to iPhone 5s, and was carrying both because I still needed to carry the BB for new calander enteries to sync up to Outlook 2007.
I had followed http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 and delete the apple s/w and re-installed. But according to the previous post, it appears that the issue was in the data - which was not deleted during all these deinstalls nor overridden with the new installs.
I am a XP user, so my files are in documents and settings/(username) both application data and \local settings\application data, but I also have safari and quicktime installed as well and didn't want to just blow entire high level folders if I didn't have to.
So I followed http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 then purged several apple folders in my windows profile and this definitely blew apple computer\preferences away. What I did was a little clumbsy, and desperate, but it worked. I am finally back in business.
However, I would like to see someone fine tune this and determine if it was just the preferences folder that needed to be deleted so that iTunes needed to rebuild it, or if there were other filoes that were apparently corrupted away, just to get this to the minimum number of steps to fix the issue.

I have a MAC mini and I got an iPhone5 two days ago. When I connected the iphone to the mac mini or the first time it worked fine but now the iphone can't be synchronized using itunes I get a message saying 'the iphone cannot be synced you do not have the privilege to make changes'.
Any ideas?Well mine is now ok.
I noticed that my iPhoto library (on an external disk) was not allowing write access and the drive had become locked, so to test, I migrated my library back to the main drive and set iPhoto to open that as the main library. I performed a sync with iTunes and all has gone trough fine.
Makes me happpy, as my next step was to factory reset the phone.

Yes. Take it to an Apple Store. There are 3rd party repair places that can replace the screen for less $$, however, any remaining Apple warranty will be voided.
