Iphone 5s - screen / display with green borders

Hi,
My iPhone 5s is developing a greenish border around the screen, letting the centre looking pink. I've been in Apple Store and because it is out of warranty they asked around 100 pounds to change the screen. I believe that it is a product issue, an "occult issue" that it should be sorted out even out of warranty (as the screen is getting their borders greener and greener). There is an image below (it is difficult to show it with the iPad camera, I'll try with my DSLR later.)
Do anyone had this issue too? I read that under European Consumer laws they have to change it ("statutory warranty rights") can anyone confirm it? Anyone has sorted it out?
Any helpful advise is welcome.
All the best,
Frank

Hi Frank, I am also facing this problem with the display. Brought it in to the service center but was told to lodge online with Apple support. As mine is just over warranty by a month, Apple support online just blocked off the access. Called the support line, and they again directed me to visit the service center to lodge the complaint. Are they trying to take me for a ride, I don't know.
Our problems are definitely hardware issues and Apple are liable for it. The problem is how to get access to Apple? They will not entertain products that are out of warranty. I would not have bothered if it's an old set, but just a month after 1yr?! Definitely I will not buy another Apple again if no proper solution is provided from them...having said that, my wife just got her new i6+ 2 weeks ago . Let's hope there is a solution from anyone on this community. In fact I've sent in a report here yesterday, but no replies from any Apple staff.

  • My iPhone 5 screen display expands randomly

My iPhone 5 screen display expands randomly & I have to turn it off to fix it.  Sometimes this is tricky to do as I can barely see the red bar to slide it to turn off.  Has anyone else had this problem?  It's really frustrating.

Do you have the Accessibility Zoom feature activated?
    Zoom
Many apps let you zoom in or out on specific items. For example, you can double-tap or pinch to expand webpage columns in Safari. There’s also a Zoom accessibility feature that lets you magnify the entire screen of any app you’re using. You can use Zoom together with VoiceOver.
Turn Zoom on or off. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom. Or, use the Accessibility Shortcut. See Accessibility Shortcut on page 123.
Zoom in or out. Double-tap the screen with three fingers.

  • I wanted to keep my locked screen display with the time and date from turning off is that possible

So I enjoy my locked screen display with my chosen picture because it has the time displayed nice and big and its a cool nightlight but the locked screen display/wallpaper/time with date always goes black after 13ish seconds of locking it is there no way to let the locked screen stay on while charging? because it is awesome if it could stay on as a nightlight also so i dont have to press the lock button to see what time because the normal display is ugly am I just being super picky or am I not the only one who agrees or maybe it does exist im just stupid please respond when you can also thanks for reading much appreciated.

Again, there is NO WAY to do what you asked: display the time constantly.
I have a clock app that displays the time constantly on my iPad. I use it as a bedside clock. Many clock apps have the ability to disable autolock just within that app. Whether there is one that lets you pick your own background, I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if there were, based on the number of clock apps out there. While what I'm suggestion is not precisely what the OP asked (display the system lock screen), it seems it might be a possible workaround.

    iphone 6 , 64 GB,  iOS version: 8.1.2

First, reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not work, and to make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the phone.
If the phone works as expected, restore from the latest backup. If the problem comes back, the backup data contained corrupt data, causing your issues.
If it still does not work, this could be a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:

  • Iphone 4 screen/display - 1 pixel line problem

    Hi,
I have a cca. 1 month old iPhone 4 from New Zealand Apple Store.
There is a cca 1 pixel bright line across the screen/display and a smaller one next to it. These seem like dead pixel lines.
Sometimes it is hard to see the lines, sometimes are very bright - I think it depends on the color of the background.
I realized that problem aproximately 4-5 days after I received the new iPhone. .
My problem is, that few days after I got my new iPhone I traveled to Europe. Now I am in Hungary and I will go back to NZ in October.
I could not find any on-line contact for NZ Apple... finally I went to Hungarian Apple Service to ask them about my problem, but they said they cannot help.
I have Apple Care Protection plan as well. Can I get a replacement, or ... ?
I do not know what to do, where to go, who can help me...
Can somebody tell me who do I need to contact?
    Thanks
    Monika

Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.

  • Iphone 4 screen displaying only colors

I woke up half an hour ago and it was perfectly normal. I guess I was too sleepy so I decided to sleep a little more. There was nothing wrong with it until I woke up again, and the screen was only displaying colors. No sign of icons or inverterted colors. Just colors that does not mean anything. I tried restarting, hard restarting etc etc.
Is this a screen or a hardware fault? What do you recommend I should do. If it is a screen issue. I cannot take it to Apple as my warranty is passed and I do not want wish to invest in this old iphone anyway.
Please cheaper or free recommendations, and what might have caused the problem? very weird..

  • HT5858 IPHONE 4S SCREEN DISPLAY TURNED BLACK

    DISPLAY PROBLEM

    Hi rupinderfromnangal,
To troubleshoot this issue where your display is only showing black, please follow the steps outlined below.
If you see a solid color screen (black, white or blue)
Plug in your device to a power source. If you see the low-battery screen when you plug in, let your device charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad) before using it.
Reset your device while it's plugged in.
If resetting doesn’t fix the issue, restore your device.
If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.

  • Screen display turned green!

Help anyone! After 1 year of use, my E 52's display started blinking just a few minutes ago and then turned green! Imagine a tv with the picture tube busted Any clues? I'll bring it in for evaluation later when the Nokia store opens for bisuiness Meanwhile, boo hoo hoo...

Is that an aluminum LCD model? There is only a white backlight; all colors are produced by red, green and blue liquid crystal filters in the screen. I suppose there is a possibility of control circuitry in the display gone bad for red/blue, but hard to troubleshoot or fix.
Along with the other tips, can you try the display on another computer? Re-seat all display cabling and graphics cards. Reset NVRAM and PRAM. Boot from the OSX install DVD. What Mac is it on?

  • Notebook screen issues with green stains

    Hello:
    I currently own an
    HP G62-355DX Notebook PC
    [Personal Information Removed]
    P/N: XH068UA#ABA
    running Windows 7 64-bit
All of sudden (not gradually) green "stains" appeared on my notebook's screen as 3 circles one around the other, sort of like a "bulls-eye" and when I try to run a program in full-screen mode the screen goes bezerk and nothing is readable. I thought it was an issue with the cable connecting the screen to the main-board but I've been told the issues would be different.
These green "stains" or pixels affect any program running or the screen itself, even the Windows 7 starting screen and the HP logo when the notebook is turned on by making the letters on the bottom-left corner unreadable.
After contacting HP at Peru, where I currently reside, I was told the model was not sold here and that I had to contact US support. They said that it could be an issue with the screen itself that could require maintenance at an HP office. And also told me that it was unlikely for remote support to be able to fix the issue.
It is still not over a year before I got the notebook so I'm guessing the warranty is still available.
Would I be required to e-mail the computer back to headquarters in hopes of it being repaired? Is it possible that it could be dealt with at your offices at Peru (I will still be residing here for quite some time).

  • Iphone 6 screen protector with exact cutouts

Been looking for a good screen protector for the iPhone 6.  However all I am seeing are ones with a full cutout for the home button.  I find them kinda ugly. Would like it to just have the circle cutout for the home button.
Has anyone come across one without the large cutouts?
Thanks and I look forward to your reply.

I just got my illoome screen protector today And it has the very precise cut outs. The sides and edges are covered

  • Screen covered with green and blue pixels (visible on dark colors)

    Hello,
I have this tablet since beginning of April, and since few days I've noticed the little dots on the top of the screen.
From far away it looks like dust behind the screen, but by having a closer look, it's like pixels that stay green and blue when the rest of the image is dark. It's very visible when I'm using the tablet with no lights around me. i've tried to restart the tablet, and even when It's loading with the SONY sign, I have that! what should I do ? Did people had that issue before ?
(BTW, The screen is also unresponsive when plugged to charge)

I encounter the same problem. I bought my Z2 tablet 16GB from the Singapore Sony Store. I got it for one month and the same pixel problem appeared.   I send it in for servicing at the Singapore Sony care centre at 313 somerset outlet.. One week went by and nothing happened. The service was bad, no reply from the customer care or technician. They gave me a website so i can check the status of the servicing but all it shown on the page was pending.. one full week and still pending. I had to call them once and asked them what happened, the Sony personal over the line could only say they can check and get back to me. The next day i called again to check if any technician has even start and immediately right after that they called me to go down to collect. Turn out they are giving me a new tablet. And the screen protector was not refund to me as they said that the device was still in the service centre.. had to buy a new one for myself. Such a disappointment in the servicing.. and now the current one i am holding as the same freaking problem.. also i notice the corners of the screen has some yellowish hue.

  • About the iPhone's LCD display with images

I was just wondering how many colours the iPhone has on its LCD screen. If anyone perhaps knows, a reply would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

32bit is actually 4,294,967,296 colors. I don't know if thats how many the phone can display though.

  • Where to find iPhone 6 screen display?

    ?

    Please rephrase the question.
Are you trying to locate a replacement for a broken screen? If so, you won't find any help here. Apple does not sell iPhone parts.
You can get the display replaced by Apple at many Apple Stores.

  • IPhone 5 screen displays white color inconsistently

Couple months ago I started noticing that when displaying white color, my iPhone 5 is showing a much "cleaner" whites towards the edges as opposed to the majority of the screen, which gets a magenta tone added to it. Initially I could almost ignore it, but it has started to worry me lately as it bacame more noticeable.
I've tried taking a picture, but it was really hard to show the effect. I think the following image would demonstrate the issue in a better way:
The actual problem is not that severe as displayed above, and it only affects pure whites (grays look fine). Basically, a certain distance from the edge of the screen is much whiter than the majority of the screen, which is reddish. This issue is persistent accross applications / white boot-up screen. I've removed the screen protector to make sure it wasn't causing the effect.
Has anyone faced the same issue and what would be the best solution? Does this make a case for product replacement? My iPhone 5 is still under warranty.
    Thanks in advance!
    Sincerely,
    devitus

    Hi, elevenacious,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, indeed I only started noticing this after updating to iOS7. I've looked at a friends phone, and he has the same issue (only less noticeable), and he never paid attention to it. But this is one of the things that once you see, you cannot unsee, or maybe it's getting worse.
There're a few discussions regarding this I've managed to find:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1644995
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1586346
Seems like and LCD defect, even though majority of people point out to occurrence only after iOS 7 update. Nevertheless, most got their devices replaced on the grounds of this problem. This is what I plan to do before the warranty expires.
Hope that this will help you as well!
