Iphone 5s shuts down periodically

New iphone 5s has started freezing. The phone cannot be turned on without a hard reset. Then it will work for a few minutes. When I try to use phone it has a black screen...which means another hard reset.
This just started after 3 weeks of no issues.
Bad phone? or bad software? or Bad app?

One of the updates addressed battery issues and since you’ve restored your iPhone, it appears that it is on its way out.

I certainly apologize about the inconvenience this issue is causing.
But since you’re using your phone correctly, your restore hasn’t had any affect, this is the only conclusion I can reach

You have restored your phone and set up as new. If that fixed the battery life, then it was a software issue. If not, it was a hardware issues

yes, especially if you consider that was working just fine one month ago before I updated to iOS7
I understand, it may cause people to think its the software but really what happens is during a restore or update sometimes it just brings the existing issues to the surface.
As even though your battery pass, its in yellow signifying its ready to failed but it appears its already failing.
Normal battery passes, its in green.
Since you have already restored it as new. That pretty isolated the issue.
sorry, I still don't get it. In one version of the software, my battery lasted the whole day without any issues. Now, after updating, the battery shutsdown at 40%. That's software issue for me. And, more important, if I wait about 10 to 15 min and try to turn on the phone. It's back again, and last until is about 30%, than, the same issue occurs.
If iOS6 was able to handle the battery just fine. I would like to be able to install it again
I understand you do have some concerns regarding iOS 7 and would like to revert back to your previous software. In order to avoid compromising your device in anyway the software is only designed to move forward. Downgrading the iOS is a feature that Apple cannot assist with as well as recommend since it can negatively affect your device.
However, we are always open to suggestions from our customers. Using this website (apple.com/feedback) would be the best option for submitting your concerns directly to Apple. We love to hear from our customers and future updates may even include specific features suggested to us by our customers.
Now keep in mind we have hundreds of millions of iOS device out there and most of them are running iOS 7 and running it fine.

Sounds like you have a battry issue but don't want to believe it.
If a car was running fine on one tank of gas, then you filled it up with another tank of gas and it began to run funny, one might suspect that tank of gas. But let's just say coincidence blew a valve-- would you think the new tank of gas was the culprit?
BUT WAIT!! It just might have been! The gas could have been of higher octane and put more more strain on the valves; you know, like going from 87 octane (OS6) to 93 octane (OS7) and showing you the engine was on the edge of compromise.
Sometimes you have to go with common sense. If everything else is ruled out, it must be the battery. And if it runs fine one moment in OS6 but immediately ***** in OS7, I'd believe my battery was suspect-- though comfy-- in OS6 but the OS7 showed its true power.
Moreover, if you had the answer-- or didn't want to believe someone's more competent advice-- why did you even call? You've already shown that you don't know much when you asked if you could go backwards after setting up the new OS as a new phone.
Additonally, if you're such the know-it-all, but yourself the $29 battery and put it in yourself. It's a piece of cake.

i put that i held down the home button and all that... sorry, should of made my message a little clearer hun.. but i did try that, ive been searching video's on the net trying to figure out how to fix the problem, but nothing seems to be working... ive just tried pluging the usb lead into my phone while holding the home button then connecting it to my computer to see if itunes fires up, but even that didnt work... i dont know what else to try.

Iphone 3gs shuts down & reboots on its own.

The 2 yr old iphone 3gs shuts down on its own and the silver apple icon pops up ~ the phone boots itself up. This has been happening more frequently, since Dec 2010. I could be on the internet, or using any app and it does this. A couple times I had to simutaneously hold down the power and home buttons to turn on the phone, and, or, unfreeze the phone. I always charge my phone, and regularly sync it with the latest upgrade(s). What is going on?

I had this, but I have now rectified the issue. It's an app?
I de-selected all my apps and just left the standard ones on.
I did a full restore from backup but did not sync any apps.
Problem solved, no more dropped calls. No more apple logo for no reason.
I am slowly re-adding my apps, 1 or 2 at a time, I have over 150 so it may take a while but so far I have reloaded about 10 of my most used ones and still everything fine. I will find the one that caused the problem eventually!!
Happy bunny again though, as I have a phone that can actually make a call for more than 5 minutes!!

On computer, at the top of this page is a Tab for iTunes, click it, make sure iTunes is up to date. Also make sure computer Fire Wall and Anti Virus do not interfere with iTunes, turn them OFF to be certain.

I would instead say you have a problem since nearly all IPs work as advertised. IF you do have a bad phone, take it into an Apple store and get a replacement. Hope you didn't jailbreak your phone though as Apple probably will tell you, you broke it, you fix it.

Your iPhone is going back and forth between recovery mode and powering on which is really strange.
Have you tried a hardware reset while its connected to your computer? This will force it back into recovery mode so that you can restore it. If restoring and setting up as new doesn't help, go ahead and take it to an Apple Store for a replacement

IPhone 5 shut down

My IPhone 5 shut down twice recently within the past week. The first time I was able to restore is by connecting to Itunes. The second time I was not. I connected to Itunes the past 2 nights and when I connected my phone it just kept saying "waiting for Iphone" like it didn't even recongnize it even through the Apple logo appeared on my phone nothing happened. I tried the classic hold both buttons for 10-45 seconds. I plugged it into the wall. Still nothing. I have had the phone for 11 months and it has not been damaged or abused in any way.
I now have an appointment to take it into an Apple store to see if they can do anything. Is it going to be worth my time doing this or should I just take advantage of my extended warranty and take it to a Verizon store for replacement?
