hei guys ! i want to know if i buy an iphone 5s (GSM) T-mobile Contract-free form US ,i will be able to use it in europe without problems just by switching the sim card? or it will be locked on T-mobile services and if it will be still locked how can i get it unlocked ? i heard something about if i activate it in europe i will have no problem with it but that i dont know for sure ... so help me guys!

Did you buy an unlocked iPhone from Apple? If you did not buy the T-Mobile model from Apple, then you don't have an unlocked phone. Any phone once locked to a cellular provider can only be unlocked by that provider if they are willing and able to do so.

No. If you purchased it from a legitimate, authorized source, you shouldn't have to ask this question.
If you purchased it elsewhere, and don't trust the seller, why in the world did you buy it?
Call AppleCare and give them the serial number. They may be able to tell you.

Globe telecom iphone 4 unlock code not provided by the carrier

I called my carrier asking for the unlock code because my 2 year contract for my iphone 4 has expired. I even offer to buy the unlock code from them as I want a legal way to unlock my phone 4. The customer rep told me it is up to the manufacturer to provide the unlock code but having read from apple's website, I told them only the carrier which was globe telecom can request apple for the unlock codes. Then the rep told me they are under no obligation to provide the unlock code. My question is , this is an old phone and the home botton does not even work anymore what I want is a legal way to unlock my phone from my carrier. How can I legally unlock my phone if my carrier Globe telecom Philippines won't provide or even let me buy the unlock code?
I don't want to jailbreak my phone I want to unlock it from this carrier. My contract is expired I want freedom to switch to other carriers!

Sorry, you're out of luck, as Globe does not offer unlocking for the iPhone. Apple can't/won't help you, & there is no such thing as a "code".
Only the carrier an iPhone is locked to can authorize the phone's official unlocking. There is no other way to get any iPhone officially unlocked. Whether carriers offer unlocking is strictly up to them, unless required by law. In you case, Globe has chosen NOT to offer unlocking.

Is my replacement Verizon Iphone 5 unlocked or not?

I bought my I-phone 5 from a Verizon store back in October 2012. The sleep/wake button was not functioning right so I took it to the Apple Store and got a replacement. I asked the employee at the Genius Bar was my phone still unlocked, because I read many articles stating that Verizon I-phone 5 is factory unlocked out of the box. She said that my replacement was not and that my original phone was not unlocked either, that it was locked to Verizon. She then proceeded to tell me how unlocking is illegal now, and how only 100 Verizon I-phone 5's were unlocked. I am traveling back to China this year, and I just want to know is there anyway to check if my phone is unlocked? Or do I need to just call Verizon to find out?

You're right that the 'locked/unlocked' terminology doesn't really apply to CDMA. In order to use a CDMA phone on a different network, it has to be flashed. There is no (legitimate) way to do this on an iPhone, even for carriers. Verizon is now allowing some iPhones to be used on at least one of their wholly owned 'bargain' carriers that offers pre-paid flat rate service, but in that case, the separately branded carrier is using the Verizon network, so there is nothing that needs to be done on the phone to allow that to happen. It's all on Verizon's back end. With exceptions like that in mind, it is not possible to take an iPhone from one CDMA carrier to another without altering the phone.

If you bought the phone from Mobily, which is an authorized reseller of the iPhone, and you purchased the phone from Mobily unlocked, then updating your iOS will NOT lock the phone.

You need to insert any non-AT&T sim. It will work if unlocked. If after Restore non-AT&T SIM activated it, it is unlocked.
See Carrier under Settings also check what is the entry against Settings > General > About - Carrier "AT&T" still there or not.

Those imei websites are trash. Call AppleCare and give them the serial number. They should be able to help.

Hi, I was having a one year contract with SFR in France for my iPhone4. After my contract period was over, my phone had some technical issues and Apple Store gave me a replacement phone for free. I want to know if my new phone is still locked to SFR network or not?

Looks to me like you bought a Phone Contracted to AT&T.
To clarify the issue...
1) Contact the Apple Store you Purchased it from...
2) Contact AT&T... If it is Contracted to them they will be able to tell you.
NOTE:
an iPhone without Contract is Not the same as Unlocked.

Not true. Verizon no longer carrier locks it's phones. The iphone 5 is the first model with bands for domestic GSM included in its firmware.

I understand your frustration, but when any form of rationing is required you have to prioritise. The number of unlocked vs packaged phones will be quite small and the number of unlocked buyers wishing to upgrade immediately will be smaller still. Against this you have the corporations sharing $billions between them.

but it does not work with other celular company sim card.
It only works with the original sim Card company.
In the Iphone appears a message teeling that has no service with another company's sim CArd.
I don't know what to do.
I've been doing this, with different Sim cards.
sometimes appears a message informing that the SIM card is locked with a PIN. That i must instal the last itunes version and connect it again.
but every Sim card I have are with PIN.

I have done a lot of restores to the Iphone, and resets also.
I;ve done holding both buttons as you sugested, but there is no signal appearing.
I am in Uruguay, South America and the original company is Movistar ( Telefonica) and the new sim card is from ANTEL ( the officail and biggest company in my country).
I don;t knoe what todo.
I have been trying for more than one mont.
I have gone several times to both companies. Aldo two times to Apple uruguay, and nobody can help me.
