IPhone 5S Unresponsive/Freezing Issues

Evening all, first time poster, be nice
Having issues with my iPhone 5S. I took out a contract with my mobile phone operator at the beginning of January,so the phone is only about 7 weeks old. In these last couple of weeks though, I've had several issues with it. First instance the phone had switched itself off a couple of hours after fully charging the battery, so I knew the issue there was not a "dead" battery. When trying to power on the phone, nothing happened. So, I performed the reset by holding down the wake/home buttons. This worked a treat. Problem solved, or so I thought. Nope! It continued to switch itself off, which kept prompting me to perform the reset again to get it to wake up. It did this for about 4 times over the course of the next 24 hours or so. Was told to restore/back up to iTunes when the phone was working, of which I did. Which cured the problem for about 3 days. One evening, while sending a text message (old school!) the screen all of a sudden went a little duller, and completely froze and nothing would respond to me. I thought "no bother, i'll perform the reset like i have been doing", only trouble is, this time, my phone would not wake at all, and I've had a phone that will not wake up (the phone battery was indicator was showing around 70% at the time of it crashing too, by the way). Does anybody know what the issue may be? There are no Apple stores local to me, I was wondering if there was a home fix for it (again, I've reset it and backed up and restored etc, so that option is null and void for me!), or is it a case of going to the store I got the phone from, and either get a replacement or have it sent off for repair? I would be interested if anyone has had any similar issues with this particular model. I'm running iOS 7.0.5 aswell after updating the phone when prompted.
Cheers!

I was having the same problem and also loosing battery life - it suddenly happened.  I went online and saw where someone said to get rid of all the unused apps still sitting there, deleted all the old posts and yea!   suddenly the problem has been fixed.   Hadn't deleted the unused apps in quite sometime, so obviously draining everything.

  • IPhone 4 -screen freezing

My iPhone 4 keeps freezing and I can't seem to turn the phone off. How can I resolve this issue?

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?
If this does not work, connect in recovery mode and restore: iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to restore

  • On starting up my new iPhone 4s, it freezes on the apple logo. I have tried the reset buttons trick and have tried restoring again too but nothing works. Any other ideas? Or is the phone simply corrupt in some way?

Did you try to connect in recovery mode and restore without using the latest backup?

If setting up as new device does not work, you'll have to get it serviced or looked at by visiting an Apple Store.
Did you try to remove the ipsw firmware file and restore, to make iTunes download a new copy from Apple?
    Those files are located here:
Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw)
iTunes uses "ipsw" files to restore your iPod or iPhone. If those files are unusable, then try deleting them, renaming them, or moving the file to a different directory. This will cause iTunes to download a new copy of the IPSW. When a restore issue is specific to a user, it is likely due to an unusable .ipsw file. If removing the .ipsw file does not resolve a user-specific restore issue, then the issue is caused by other user-specific security software settings or iTunes preferences. Creating a new user will also cause new .ipsw restore files to be downloaded in the new user. You can find the ".ipsw" files in these locations:
    Mac OS X
    iPhone
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
    iPad
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates
    iPod touch
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates

searching to no service to service to searching to no service to service...
todays date (in case you missed it) ... 12-22-2011
I did NOTHING to change my iPhone4.  I was literally at work from 12:00 noon to 9:00pm.
All of a sudden, at 5:00pm, my iPhone4 decides it needs to constantly goto "searching" then to "no service" then back to "searching" then to "AT&T [5 Bars] 3G", then back to "searching" to "No Service" to ... you get the idea...
It continued with no end in sight.
Once home, after 4 hours of having a useless iPhone4 for 4 useless hours, I (to my wife's dismay) went to my home office to research if anyone else had a problem with this.  Mind you, I had latest Apple iOS 5.0.1...
    FFWD 3 hours later.
I found the post before my current post.  (by Shaun00013)  It lead me to hope (not believe) that if I used iTunes to do a backup of my iPhone4, then "Restore to factory defaults", then Restore iPhone from backup that my problem would be solved...
... (yes, I know i use too many "..."  so don't mention it!)
Now that I've done the backup / restore factory defaults / restore from backup: problem solved.
... [  :-)  ]  It's been 30 minutes with no repeat of my original issue!  YAAY!
This whole experience reminds me of a corrupted windows installation.  I didn't realize Apple iOS had the same issue...
I don't know if someone sent me an email with an iPhone virus ( is that even possible?!)  Or if my iOS just shat itself... but I know this post lead me to fixing my issue.
Hope this post of mine helps you too. If it does, sign in with your AppleID and tell us about it.  Then, the next poor helpless iPhone owner experiencing this issue will find this post faster through Google.
Gnite!  Hopefully I won't be back to this site anytime soon...

  • Iphone Crashing and Freezing

Hi! I'm mostly looking to see if I have a lemon or if others are experiencing the same problems I have been having with my iphone. My iphone crashes and freezes several times daily. I have to reboot at least once a day, and often more than that. I've already sent the iphone to apple for repairs, and it came back with the exact same issue. I could live with the $200 dollar decrease in cost, but for that extra 200 dollars, I would love an iphone that is reliable!
Most of the other users I've seen here seem to be experiencing only intermittent crashing, and specifically of utilities...they usually find themselves back in the start screen. My phone is freezing...literally no brain activity. Please let me know if you have the same problems.

I am not sure that you should be subjected to the Freezing and Crashing on a continued basis as you describe.
As I have said before, Resetting and Restoring merely bypasses the fact that you are not fixing the problem but in fact putting a Band Aid on a mortal wound. These freezes are associated with a malfunction in the iPhone, whether it be software or hardware, it is a iPhone problem.
You should get down to the Apple Store and tell them what is happening and either get a replacement or assistance in helping you get your iPhone sent to Applecare.
    I would not wait.

  • My iphone 4S is freezing. how can i replace it?

Lately, my iphone 4snhas been freezing! i have cleared out my apps and deleted pictures and messages, everything. can i get it replaced flr free?

Not unless it is a hardware issue.
    Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137  For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
Test the issue after each step.  If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.

  • IPhone 6 screen freezes and can't find wifi after iOS 8.0.2 update

iPhone 6 screen freezes and can't find wifi after iOS 8.0.2 update. Have to do a hard reboot. I am Extremely disappointed and lost ALL trust in Apples Quality Assurance. From now on I'll wait a week before I update.

    Hey there Shortos,
It sounds like your phone touchscreen is not consistently working for you after updating to iOS 8. I can see how that would be pretty frustrating. It sounds to me like this could be a software issue or an issue with the screen itself. I would start with the troubleshooting in the following article to help troubleshoot the screen itself:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting touchscreen response
    Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If that does not resolve the issue, I would next quit all the running apps on the device:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

  • My iphone 3g was freezing so i started to reset it and now it wont even turn on. any suggestions?

my iphone 3g was freezing on the text message screen so i tried to reset it by holding the top button and the home button. now it wont even turn back on. the apple logo comes on then turns off 10sec lter. any suggestions?

When the iPhone only shows the Apple logo and then turns off, it usually indicates an issue with the software that is preventing the phone from completing it's boot sequence. This can be remedied by putting the phone into DFU mode and restoring it. By restoring the phone, the software and firmware will be removed and replaced with a fresh set and the content will be removed from the phone and need to be resynced.
To put the phone into DFU mode:
    1. Make sure the phone is connected to the computer
    2. Hold down the sleep/wake button and home button at the same time for 8 seconds
    3. Let go of the sleep/wake button and keep holding down the home button
    4. If you are successful, a dialog box will pop up in iTunes stating that iTunes has detected an iPod/iPhone in recovery mode and the phone's display will remain black.
    5. Click OK, then click the restore button in iTunes.
Hopefully after that, the iPhone will be up and running so you can sync your content back.
    I hope this helps!

  • IPhone 6 - Screen freezing

Hello, my iPhone 6 is freezing the screen often. I've done the restore from iTunes 3 times and not solved. Currently there is no application installed, and shortly after on and with the locked screen makes freeze the screen again, requiring the rint (POWER + HOME) button to return to work for a short time. Another problem is that wireless connection is not enabling, ie the field is dimmed and I can not activate. How can I solve this problem, is it hardware?
    iPhone 6, iOS 8.3
      Thank you.

To make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the phone. If it still does not work as expected, and Wi-Fi is still greyed out, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:
