IPhone 5s won't connect to the computer.

I've got the new iPhone 5s, but it will not connect to my computer, my old iphone 4s works fine with the computer. I've even tried it on different cords and it still doesn't work. I tried to connect my iPhone 5s to my school laptop, and it works. HELP!!!!!
I even rebooted my computer and my phone, uninstalled intunes and reinstalled itunes but won't work, I've tried everything. Is it because of the phone or?
My iPhone 5s is current updated to iOS 7.0.1

My iPhone 5c won't connect to the internet so now I can't download iOS 8

Connect the device to the computer and iTunes and update that way. Why won't the phone connect to the Internet?

  • Why is my itunes trying to update my iphone and its not connected to the computer?

This would be more for the technical side of the house, but why would the system try to update my iPhone and its not connected to the computer? is there a bug in the system?

    Update or sync?
As of iOS 5 updates and sync can be done wirelessly, over Wi-Fi.

  • Ipod won't connect to the computer at all.

My 3rd Generation iPod nano won't connect to the computer at all. Therefore it has no battery for me too be able to reset or try to do anything with it.
I've only been advised to make sure that i have the most recent version of iTunes?
    Could anyone help please?
    Thanks, Hollie.

    Try uninstalling the drivers,
    Plug in your iPod
Right click on My Computer and click on Manage
that will bring you to the Computer Management
On the left hand side click on device manager
on the right side click on the plus sign next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers
it will show a list, in that list locate iPod or USB mass storage device
    right click and select uninstall
Unplug your iPod and plug it back in
Windows should automatically start installing them again
if nothing pops up then right click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers
and choose scan for hardware changes
    If that doesn't work
    Go back into Computer Management
Click on Disk Management on the right
and on the left it should say your iPod
Right click and go into change drive letter and paths
    click on the change button
Change it to something like N or M
Click ok, you will get a message saying "changing the drive letter may cause the program to no longer run are you sure you want to change this drive letter"
    click ok
    then restart your computer

PUT THE CORRECT PASSWORD, OR ELSE YOU CAN UPDATE THROUGH ITUNES. GO TO APP SECTION ON YOUR ITUNES, CHECK FOR UPDATES, CLICK THE UPDATES OPTION, IT WILL GET DOWNLOADED, AND THEN SYNC.

  • My iphone 4s will not connect to the computer or charge when on

Ok, so this one is kind of strange. I've had this problem for about a 10 days, and it's driving me nuts. The gist of it is that when I connect the USB cable to the phone and to either the computer or the electricity plug, nothing will happen. The phone will not charge in either, and when connected to the computer, neither iphoto nor itunes will connect to the phone (so no syncing podcasts or photos, grrr).
For a while I thought that it was a hardware problem- it started first by not recognizing the electricity plug, and i could only charge it with the computer (i think since i upgraded it to iOS6 first, about a month and a half ago). At that time, itunes and iphoto were working, so i didn't mind. Then, it started to get picky and i had to plug it a dozen times before it would work. I was very afraid that I wouldn't be able to charge my phone at all- but I discovered that if the phone was turned off while plugged, then it would charge perfectly. If I plugged it in while it was turned off, it would start up and not charge nor connect to itunes / iphoto- so the phone is getting the charge and it knows when it's being connected, but only as long as it's in a coma .
Here are the specs of what I'm using:
    iphone 4s
iOS 6, latest version as of today
Macbook 4.1 Intel Core 2 Duo 2,4 GHz
    running OSX 10.6.8
    and iTunes 10.7 (21)
And here's a bunch of things I've tried:
    - different cables
    - different computers (macbook pro running 10.8.1)
    - push start + off buttons simultaneoulsy for 30 seconds
    - connect via wifi (since I need to start with the cable, it doesn't work)
Obviously nothing worked, and I would hate losing the pictures and videos in my phone that haven't been synced. Any ideas?

You must use Apples iTunes in order to place ringtones or music of your own on the phone. You don't have an android phone which uses a sd card and can load via the usb cable.
If you need info on how to get songs and ringtones and photos on your phone read the manual on your phone or read up at http://www.apple.com

  • Iphone 3g won't connect to itunes/computer

Recently I bought my friends Iphone which had 2.2 FW on it.
When I took it home I couldn't get it to charge via my ipod cord or acknowledge that it was connected to the computer in anyway. The odd catch is that it will charge via the same cord plugged into the wall adapter AND, if the iphone is off I can still do things like hold the home button in and then connect the ipod cord which is hooked up to my computer and have the phone turn on. This isn't making much sense to me. I reset the phone to factory defaults from within the phone, and am now in my current situation. I am stuck at my activation screen, I can't connect to itunes because the iphone doesnt show up, no smaller programs like ziphone detect my phone, just a few minutes ago in the car my friend took his iPhone and connected it to the deck in the car via the usb 2.0 hook up and his phone showed that it was charging, tried the same thing with mine, nada. What can I do? Does anyone have any insight into the issue? hardware? software? anything will help. thanks.

try another USB port on your computer. If it is a PC there also exist sometimes driver problems with some OS and motherboard combinations.

  • My iPhone 5 won't connect to the Internet.

I have a factory unlocked iPhone 5, and I had my regular-sized SIM cut to fit the iPhone 5, since the nano SIM is not available yet in my country (Venezuela). The SIM works, I get messages, calls, etc. But it won't connect to the internet unless I'm on wi-fi. I've tried in different places, with full 3G signal, but it doesn't work. The weird thing about this is that I get Whatsapp messages (and I can send them as well), I get notifications from Instagram and Twitter, but it won't let me, say, enter my Twitter profile, or load Instagram pictures. It won't load any kind of internet content, neither with Safari nor Chrome.
The phone (or rather iOS 6) doesn't seem to have any option to edit the APN, so I researched a bit and found the iPhone Configuration Utility. I used it a couple of months before with an iPhone 3G to set an APN and it worked. Only this time, it wouldn't let me create and install a new profile on the iPhone 5. It would let me install the old profile I had for the Iphone 3G, which had the same APN settings I was trying to use now (both from the same carrier) but it didn't fix the internet issue. I also tried the Unlockit method, but it didn't work either.
What bothers me is that I've seen in a few websites screencaps of the Mobile Data screen, and it shows an option to configurate the APN settings in the phone itself, but mine's missing it.
I'd really appreciate if you could help me out, or at least give me a hint of what could be causing this. I've tried almost everything, and I've read a lot of posts here, but I haven't found anything useful. Thanks in advance.

In addition to what ChrisJ4203 said about cellular data, check your carriers website, it may need you to enter APN settings to allow internet access over cellular.
Also does normal telephone calling & SMS work? Disable wifi to avoid using iMessage as a test. If the SIM is damaged or blocked etc it may not work with cellular data, does the phone give you any error messages when powering on?
Another thing to try is to back up to iTunes & check for updates to iOS - sometimes a carrier update can restore the cellular network settings.

  • My iPhone 3GS won't connect to the internet.

I updated my iPhone just now to iOS 5.1 and now it won't connect to the internet/apps via 3G; I also cannot retrieve mail.  My messages are now also sending as normal SMS and not iMessage please help.

Do you have a data plan?
Do you have cellular data turned on?  Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data
    Has it ever worked?
Have you contacted your provider to see if they are experiencing issues?

  • IPhone 5 won't connect to new computer

I recently bought a MacBook Air, thinking that it would connect to my existing iPhone 5 easily, but when i connect it to iTunes, only the songs I have purchased (not downloaded) come up. Also, it says if I want to sync the phone with the computer, it will delete all of the current apps and contacts on my phone. I never had trouble with my PC, so anyone know how to fix this?

Move your iTunes library from your previous computer to your current computer, then all your stuff will be there.

  • 8520 won't connect to the computer

when i plug the USB into the computer the phone starts charging so it obviously recognises it's plugged in but nothing happens on the computer! and when i click on my computer it says removable device but then says insert a device when you double click that. my friend Tom has the same phone and he used my USB to plug his in and when we went on my computer his phone was there so its not the USB. I just really don't understand!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Did you install, to that PC, the required BB software? See this helpful article:

  • IPhone 4s will not connect to the computer.

I have a multitude of problems with my 4s and I'm sure that I will never buy another Apple product again.
Within the first week, I was having problems with the microphone. No one can hear me unless it's on speaker phone, and I know it is not a software issue. The people at my phone company sprayed canned air into the phone and claimed it was fixed. It was, for a few months. Now it's back to doing it again. It works about 20% of the time off of speaker.
Then, it got stuck in "dock mode," which I tried EVERYTHING to fix it, and nothing worked. My phone had to be taken apart by a cell phone repairman, and you know what he found? A pin was shoved through the ribbon that connects the dock to the rest of the phone, and after so many months it started putting enough pressure on it to make it think it was cnstantly on a dock.
Now, it will not be recognized by my computer. I have tried EVERYTHING. Everything from this, http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538. I have even cleaned out the registry of everything apple, itunes, and bonjour before reinstalling itunes, and I have even manually deleted and manually redownloaded, unzipped, and reinstalled the apple mobile driver device. At first, it said USB not recognized. Now, it won't even recognize anything is plugged in. And, it WILL NOT connect to it even in recovery or DFU mode. I have tried three cords and three computers. So, is this software or hardware related? Because honestly, this company isn't worth my time to try to send the phone to because they will do another half assed job like they did when building it. I'd rather just take care of it myself.
This phone is clearly defective, and I would just like a new one that at least WORKS, but Ntelos says that they can't even fix my phone. All they can do is charge me $120 a year for insurance, and then make me pay $200 for a REFURBISHED one, when I paid $250 for a NEW one and have done nothing, not even so much as dropped the phone, in the 5 months I've owned it.

  • IPhone 3GS won't connect to the internet

    Hi
Over the last 24 hours Safari seems to have stopped working. When trying to browse the internet (even when signal strength is full and 3G enabled) it seems to take forever to load before one of the following messages appears:
"Could not access cellular data network"
"Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding"
If I switch WiFi on and access through a wireless network it works fine.
So is this a problem with my service provider or the phone itself?
Rest of the phone features (SMS, phonecalls etc.) seem fine bar the internet services.
BTW I'm based in the UK and a pay monthly o2 customer.
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers

And just like that the problem vanishes... thanks anyway.
This will probably get a lot more frequent after Christmas...
