IPhone 6 240fps slow-motion import

Hey everyone,
I understand when I import the clip into Final Cut Pro I choose 30fps, and then click on the clip and set it to automatic speed. Then I will get my 240fps slow-motion.
2 issues though.
I would like to have the same effect as Quicktime Player opens the file for me. Starts in normal speed and then transfers to the slow-motion. I could probably build this with speed ramp, but is there an easier way to just have it like that already?
Second issue, when I set it to automatic speed, I do not get the sound from it. In final cut pro x it sounds really weird then, just very high sounds (rain), but in Quicktime Player and on my iPhone I really hear the deep sound when the raindrop hits the ground. Any idea how to transfer that sound or how to get it?
Probably needs an upcoming update FCPX?
Edit: Now when I would like to export in QTP to YouTube I do not get the slow-motion either, it's just like that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkk1DfTcgn0

There is a misconception about the "slow motion videos" in iPhone.
In fact, they *really* are videos recorded with a high frame rate (up to 240fps in iPhone 6).
They are *not* in slow motion per se - even though the iPhone software may play them as such.
In fact, I'll go so far as to say that there is no such thing as slow motion videos. There are videos played in slow motion.
What happens when, say, you drop your 240fps video in a 24fps timeline, is that it plays at normal speed. This is as it should be!
The big deal is that, since your clip has all those extra frames in it, you can use FCP X to slow it down (up to 1/10 the original speed in my example) and it will use all the real frames the camera captured. Plus, you can use all the retiming features in FCP X to obtain perfectly smooth slow motion.
By means of comparison, if you slow down a video recorded at the same frame rate as the project it is in, FCP X has to make up extra frames that did not exist. Even though FCP X has some great algorithms for this (like "Optical Flow"), it can't match real captured frames.

  • Iphone 6 slow motion import

I am unable to import my slow motion into FCPX from my iphone 6. What it imports is standard 30 or 60 fps video that plays at normal speeds.  I can't for the life of me figure out how to bring it in as a slow motion clip. I even imported it into iPhoto, where it plays as slow motion, then go look at it in the FCPX media browser for photos and it again plays at regular speed (not slow motion).
Can someone help me figure out how to import slow motion clips into FCPX from the iPhone 6?
    Thanks!

  • Working with Slow motion (240fps) Sony F55 Raw mxf files

I'm working on a project that uses both 25p files and 240fps slow motion files from a Sony F55.
The problem is that when I add the slow motion files to my file list everything gets media pending, even the normal 25p files. If I delete the the slow motion files from the list the normal 25p gets back to normal behaviour, withous Media Pending.
It seems that Premiere Pro cannot work very good with Sony RAW 240fps files. Is that I known bug? Is there a way to fix it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have the same issue, I have tried with CS6 and CC same issue.
    even with the sony plugin.

  • How do I view a video on iPhoto in slow motion

Is there an easy way to view a video in slow motion imported from either an i-phone or camera?  I have no problem viewing the video I just want to slow it down to see the action.  Thanks.

In iPhoto or your iPhone or on a Mac?
On your Mac you could install QuickTime Player 7. This lets you step a movie using the arrow keys (in slideshow mode) or play the movie at half the speed.

  • Slow-motion from iPhone not importing at correct frame rate

Hi everyone. I'm noticing that video shot in slow mo (120 fps) on my iPhone 5 is not importing into FCPX.1 at 120 fps. Nor does FCP give me an option to keep the 120 fps.  I'm sure I'm just overlooking something. Tried making a preset but that didn't work either. Net result is I'm just hitting the timeline with a duration change.
What does anyone else recommend.  I'm hoping to get that delicious 6Plus with 240 fps so I want to make sure I've got my workflow set.
    Thanks so much!
    Viddy

Here we go--just happened again. Screen shots here. The video plays what looks like 29.97 fps despite having more data available. Obviously no setting to put that timeline at 120 fps but I thought at least 60 fps would stick. ...... hmmmmm.

  • Slow motion lost after sync from mac to iphone

    Hi,
I can capture videos in slow motion but those videos play at normal speed once Sync them via iTunes.
    1. Capture videos in slow motion.
    2. The videos first play in slow motion in the iPhone. There is a time line slider to move the slo-mo effect back and forth.
    3. I do a back-up via iTunes including videos.
    4. After syncing, the videos in the iPhone appear in one album called "Slo-Mo".
    5. In the thumbnail of the video clip I can see the small dial icon that all other slow motion videos have.
    6. Playing the video shows a normal speed clip without the timeline slider under the video frames view.
The videos DO retain the slo-mo "effect" in Aperture and iPhoto also. Not in the iPhone after syncing.
Any hints to solve this?  thanks
    jp
    iPhone 6 iOS8

    Hi,
iOS 8.1 didn't fix the issue so here is my workaround to " show-off " my slow motion clips:
I have tried to open the clips with iMovie in the iPhone.  ( I guess not everyone has iMovie installed...?)
So, you can create a new project in iOS iMovie and import the clip you want. Slow motion clips preserve the little dial icon so you can see which ones have the slo-mo effect. It will preserve the slow-motion sections of the original clip and will play "slow".
If for some magical reason your clip doesn't play "slow" in iOS iMovie click on the small "tachometer" icon and select the desired speed.
So. iMovie does know the clip has enough frames to play in slow motion... why the camera app doesn't ?
    good luck,
    jp

  • How can I flip my iphone videos on my PC? My videos from my iphone are horrible when I transfer them to my PC. How can I improve the video on my PC? Can I just convert the files to WMV? When the video plays the speed is off, it's half slow-motion

My videos from my iphone are horrible when I transfer them to my PC. How can I improve the video on my PC? Can I just convert the files to WMV? When the video plays the speed is off, it's half slow-motion and staggers into normal play. The clips are slightly cut as well, the clips do not roll continuously.  I'm taling about videos that are no more than 2 minutes long.  I'm frustrated and I could really use some advice-my kids basketball games is what I'm recording and I'm trying to send them to my family (they are not very tech savvy). Thanks

Not it's only function but one for which it was most admirably suited, which is why I really hope someone can find a work around. I am hoping my post to the Apple feedback may prompt a useful response from Apple and I live in hope that my post here will elicit a useful response from another user. I did not miss the the text at the top of the feedback form but you presumably missed my initial text, 'someone here can explain' or my subsequent 'work around from another user'
Just in case anyone reading this has a large collection of music videos, video podcasts or iTunes U then DO NOT upgrade your iPad to iOS 5. If you are considering purchasing the iPad as a useful mobile device to experience these media organised in your iTunes please don't as you will be wasting your money. (unless someone on this forum knows of a way to undo the mess created by those infallible folks at Apple)
Yes I know it does other things but the purpose I bought it for doesn't work anymore

  • Help! Movies from iPhone 5 play in slow motion when opened in Quicktime on PC

    Hi there,
I was hoping someone may have the answer or have encountered this problem as well, as I have been unable to find anything on it elsewhere on the net.
I have transferred some movies, taken on my iPhone 5, to my PC. However when they are opened in Quicktime (as recommended) they play in slow motion.
However, the sound still plays at normal speed.
I have already tried going into the QT settings where you can speed up the playback, but this doesn't work either, no matter how fast I set it to - they still play super slow.
Although they are taking up heaps of space, I am worried to delete the movies off the iPhone in case they have not copied over properly and I lose the originals!
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks!

Hi Matthias, thanks for your response!
We are running on Windows XP, is that what you mean? I will try and download the VLC player and see what happens. Are iPhone 5 movies higher res than iPhone 4, as we can play those?
If it is the system, do you know whether or not if I save the movies to our PC, then transfer than to another computer, should they play ok? I just don't want to delete them off my phone and have them permanently slow, iykwim?
Sorry if my ignorance is showing - I'm not overly tech savvy when it comes to this stuff!
    Many thanks again!

  • Imported Video not in sync with sound. Video in slow motion...

    Hello,
I am fairly new to Premiere and I wanted to spend some time playing around with it. When I import my videos, the playback is out of sync. The sound is normal but the video is in slow motion so it doesnt sync together. Am I missing something? Using Premiere Pro CS4 and filmed it on a Sony Xacti with MPEG4 AVC sequence.
    Thanks in advance.
    Steve
Oh by the way, it seems to open and play just fine in any other media player

    Steve,
Glad that you got some material to practice with. That was your goal here.
Now, file conversions from compressed source material will usually not yield great quality. Unfortunately, the conversion process, unlike what some would love to believe, does not restore quality to the compressed material. It only changes some of the characteristics, but imporved quality is not one of them. Also, depending on the actual conversion program used, the quality can suffer even more. This is a fact of life in Video.
Now, when you go to get your camera, there are many great threads on many camera makes and models already posted. If you cannot find info on your considerations, post to get recommendations, based on your budget and what you wish to use the camera for. I'm not positive, but I think that the new Equipment sub-forum would be a good place to ask. Previous posts will not be there yet, but will be in the general forum. Many, but obviously not all, cameras have been discussed in length, and their pluses and minuses have been debated.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • My iPhone 4s is super slow to import photos into iPhoto???

As said in the title my iphone is extremely slow to import photos to iphoto and keeps importing the same photos even though they are already in iPhoto??? Whats going on?? Anyone know a fix to this??

I would expect nothing less. even importing videos from my standards camera takes a while...thats not the issue here.
importing 50 Photos can take 10 minutes with the iPhone. Meanwhile the same number of photos from a standard camera would take less than a minute.
Its either a problem with the iphone and slow transfer through the dock connector, or somethings up with how iPhoto imports from the iPhone.

  • I imported video from a card into IPhoto and it plays in slow motion.  Any suggestions? Would importing into IMovie help at all?

    Hello
I am importing video and pics into Iphoto and the video plays in slow motion.  Would importing in Imovie help or does it have something to do with the type of camera or file the video is in?

It should. So they aren't shown in the Last Import smart album, right? Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.

  • Why that when I record a video in my iPhone 4s then I will transfer it to my laptop, the video is in slow motion? Please help so that I can use always my video recording feature. Thanks!

Video is synced from the computer to the iPhone via iTunes. You need to load the video into iTunes, make sure it is iPhone compatible before you do that, and once it is in iTunes, then sync to the iPhone.
Never said what computer OS you were using. Also, the computer processor, amount of RAM can make a difference with HD video.

  • Videos are importing into AfterEffects in choppy slow motion?

I am trying to make my first commercial. I used a cannon camera to shoot alot of footage.
When I watch the ".mov" file in quicktime it plays perfectly fine. However when I try to import into After Effects and hit play the video is in slow motion and is very choopy? I cant figure this out to save my life and this is a project for school! I have tried changing the settings to "hdtv1080 24" and it still is not working?
Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong??

Um, it sounds like you're doing just about everything wrong.  With AE, you need to walk before you run, you have to know the basics before you can do ANYTHING of substance, and it appears you don't have the time to learn the basics.  And no, there aren't any hard-and-fast answers to a situation where you need just a couple of simple things.  What you think could be simple may not be in AE terms.
Do you even NEED to use AE?   Why can't you use a video editing application, which is far easier to figure out?

  • Hello. My iphone 4, iOS 6.1.3 gone wild....everything is going in slow motion, every app i open is running in frames...i tried reseting the handset, with back-up, without backup(as a new iPhone) and the result is the same. Help ! Apple? Anybody ?

Hello. My iphone 4, iOS 6.1.3 gone wild....everything is going in slow motion, every app i open is running in frames...i tried reseting the handset, with back-up, without backup(as a new iPhone) and the result is the same. My battery percentage is going down down down only by looking at my phone, imess is making me crazy, after i write the name for the recipient the keyboard appears after 2 min...and the list is looooong...everything is gone wild ! Why? What can i do ?

I'm having similar issues just lately. The phone itself is very slow to respond to the touch, just scrolling between home screens is a chore at times. There have been about 2 incidents of random vibration from it. Closing home screen folders takes a couple of attempts. I find that I'm also having delayed keyboard responses when typing messages to my contacts.
Also, sometimes when I press the sleep/wake button it takes about 30 seconds to register it and actually lock or wake up.
Have you experienced the backlight failing to light up? Like if I get a message it flashes up then goes black straight after and when you press the sleep/wake or home button it lights up again but very very dimly and you have to press the sleep/wake button as if locking it and then press it again to bring the screen up properly?
Mine is also on 6.1.3(10B329), model MD245B/A, obviously not Jailbroken, carrier unlocked from Vodafone (but that was months and months ago). Roughly 17gb of storage space left.
This has only started happening in the last 2 weeks. Haven't tried the reset or anything yet though.
