IPhone 6 and 6 Plus Intermittent Charging

I have a 6 plus and my wife has the 6. Both phones started doing this after the iOS 8.1.0 update.
When charging, the charge status will go back and forth from charging to not charging every few seconds.
This does not happen with all usb outlets. I have a few usb outlets that I had no problem with before the update and now the problem persists.
I also have a portable battery that I use to charge our 6's and our past 5's but I can no longer use it due to the charging problem.
In my vehicle I use a 12v to 2.1a usb. Used to work great but not anymore.
I've tried different lightning cables but it seems to be the usb power being delivered.
Please if you are having the same problem, post a reply so that Apple will see this and make the changes needed in 8.1.1

You should get both of your phones checked. But before that, just to make sure that this is not related to damaged data from the backup, set it up as new device and try to charge the phone after you set them up again without the latest backup.

  • Intermittently iphone 6 and 6 plus is wifi connected but internet does not work.

    Hi,
I have an issue where intermittently iphone 6 and 6 plus is wifi connected but internet does not work. iMessage works though.  Toggling the wifi setting clears
the issue temporarily but it occurs again.  Running iOS 8.3 now.  This was the case on iOS 8.1 and 8.2 as well.
I have tried the typical troubleshooting steps (reboot/reset network settings/disabling location services for wifi/upgrade/etc)
My router is an EA9200 router with 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz.  It is configured with all bands with the same name.
All other devices in my house works perfectly fine and has no disconnects (ipad/macbook air/tv's/receivers)
My thought is that iphone 6 cannot handle well the moving around between bands.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David

Have you tried to reboot your router by turning off the power (you may have to unplug it from the power source), then waiting about 30 seconds, then turning it back on?  This seems to solve a lot of problems.

  • IPhone 6 and 6 plus conference calling

Hello everyone, I'm waiting on my iPhone 6 plus from verizon to come in and I searched a bit for this answer but no one has clearly answered this. Now I know that the iPhone 6 and 6 plus has the advance 1.0 calling feature on it which we can now do HD calling and as well as 6 way calling but I just have a couple of questions.
    1. Is it truly 6 way calling just like AT&T where I can do this with landlines and other networks or is it only with other phones on verizon with voLTE?
    2. If I'm already on a call and a second incoming call comes in, am I able to merge that call to the existing line or I have to tell the caller to hang up and then I proceed to call everyone at once like all CDMA iPhones had done in the past for multiple calls?
Sorry if this has already been answered as I tried searching but haven't had much luck. Thanks guys!

Hey there, lilfool4lif3! Thanks for bringing your questions about conference calling to the Forum. I'm sorry that you've had any difficulty getting this straightened out. Although the iPhone 6 using iOS 8 can support conferencing with up to five other callers, this activity is not yet supported while using Advanced Calling. That said, the process if adding a caller while engaged in a call can be done by tapping the HOLD CALL   Answer, and then tapping MERGE CALLS. Thanks!

  • Iphone overheats and shuts down when charging ?

    hello,
since i have had my iphone 4s replace in april my iphone overheats and shuts down when charging?
    can anyone help?

My 4S has recently shut down twice so far due to heat: Once in 100+ deg. in Arizona, when I left the phone in direct sunlight too long (that'll kill anything), and once just today, 96 deg. in Colorado, with the phone in my shirt chest pocket, not in direct sunlight. Each time, the phone was also encased in the hermetically sealed "Lifeproof" case, which probably contributed to heat build-up. If you're using a similar case with yours, either make sure to keep the phone in a cooler, shaded area, or just take it out of the case when the temps are this high. Definitely don't leave it in direct sunlight! In my case, although the 4S seems more heat-sensitive than my previous iPhones, I still find this behavior within acceptable parameters. But I wonder whether the overheating episodes might cause permanent damage...?

  • Resolution capped at 1136x640 on iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

    Hello all,
Using Starling or native display list, I simply can't get to render at the true resolution of an iPhone 6 (1337x750) or an iPhone 6 Plus (1920x1080).
Using AIR 15, 16.0.0.283 AND 17.0.0.96 (yes I saw that uploaded a few hours ago) on Windows or Mac.
I've had problems in the past with recognizing resolutions due to launch images being improperly configured. I do however have the [email protected] (1242x2208 for iPhone 6 Plus) properly loading since the release of AIR 16.0.0.2**.
The very problem is apparent in the main class at boot time with the native stage.
    stage.stageWidth = 1920 (configured in-line from the .swf)
    stage.fullScreenWidth = 1136 (actual runtime resolution)
This problem ONLY occurs with iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Desktop builds, iPad retina and non-retinas and Android devices work well. I've tried every possible configuration in the descriptor, normal and fullscreen mode, etc etc.
For the time being I have my game do scaling and the rendering looks OK, but it still isn't running at the native resolution of the device.
Has anyone else had this issue?
    Thank you!

    Hi Nicola,
Thanks for reporting the problem, However we verified it and found that you are using incorrect launch image name for iPhone 6 and iPhone plus. Please find below the correct names.
    iPhone 6 :  [email protected] ( 750x 1334 )
    iPhone 6 plus : [email protected] (1242 x 2208)
Please let us know if you still face any difficulty.
    Regards,
    Jitender

  • Iphone 6 and 6 Plus Unlocked in PreOrder?

i want to preorder mine but I'm worried.....

  • IPhone 6 and 6 plus camera extremely slow when using flash

I have noticed that the iPhone 6 and 6 plus camera is extremely slow when using flash, it is definitely slower than iPhones 5 and 5s.
    Any explanation/solution for this?

I Have done some more testing and it seems turning off HDR resolves the issue

  • IPhone 6 and 6 plus bluetooth issue

I did test many times and changed phone two times. Same problem.
Just put it in pants back pocket then start noise and bad connecting.
I think Apple use to cheap Bluetooth part.
I did pairing to Samsung Galaxy S 5 and working fine.
When i had iPhone 5 no bluetooth problem at all.
iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has Bluetooth problem.
I'm not sure... hardware problem or software problem?
I tested all my friends iPhone 6 and 6 plus. It's same problem.
So maybe Apple have to recall iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus.

    Hi Elvis,
I experience exactly the same behavior. Many problems with iPhone 6 and bluetooth. Do you have special devices connected to your iPhone? I use my pebble smartwatch with and, also "tile" and an iZettle Card Reader and some bluetooth speakers. Also, I have it connected to 2 car audio hifi radios.
The sound always breaks and starts again. The iZettle card reader disconnects after 10 seconds and reconnects. My pebble smartwatch is now on low battery after 24 hours (from before 10 days with an iPhone 5!!)
Can you shortly describe which devices you have connected? Maybe there is a problem with one of them...

  • IPhone 6 and 6 plus bending problem sollution

    Hello Apple,
recently as some of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users are having the issue of bending, I found out a sollution for this problem. And the sollution is that Apple can make a strong case which protects the Iphone 6 and 6 plus from bending.
THis is a way out as if apple goes out with the sollution of redesigning it is not going to be suitable as apple has already manufactured so many iPhone 6 and plaus.
HOpe Apple takes my Sollution and all the best.

I Have done some more testing and it seems turning off HDR resolves the issue

  • IPhone 5S 8.1.0 - intermittently charging

    Hi all,
since the weekend my iPhone 5S will intermittently charge, it will just say "Accessory not supported" however my iPad 4 running the same iOS (8.1.0) does not appear to have these issues.
For example, it only charged 21% overnight (55 to 76%) and then decided to stop. It's frustrating having to get it to try and charge!
The charger is a genuine belkin charger (longer and better quality IMO) but as I said surely it's not the charger if my iPad 4 works fine with it.
My iPhone has been on 8.1.0 since the week it came out so it's not like it's happened since the update either, does anyone have any ideas?

    Hi tomtoon,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that it can be very concerning and frustrating when your device does not charge as expected. In this situation I would recommend reading over and using the troubleshooting information provided in the attached article to help resolve this issue.

  • IPhone 6 and 6 Plus Setup A Mess

This post is for those of us upgrading from an earlier iPhone, especially the 4S forward. Those new to the iPhone likely will not encounter what's discussed below. I've marked this as a question so others can contribute other solutions/options.
Finally received the new iPhone 6 Plus purchased in early late Sept or early Nov... don't remember. Setting it up turned into a real mess that I believe, were it not that I spent my career in Info Tech, part of the time with Apple, some with Microsoft and so on, the average human will likely end up screwed to the wall when setting up the new generation of iPhone. Here are the issues:
    1) Activation and Setup are TWO different and distinct operations. I add this as there are many posts around that seem to have the two mixed together as one process. Activation is accomplished correctly by following the first two or three steps of the Verizon instruction sheet that ships with the phone. Activation is when the carrier (Verizon) sets their system to recognize your new phone on its network. It takes a couple of minutes and works just fine. Once activation is done you need to do the setup on the iPhone.
    2) The instructions sheet moves on from activation to the steps for setup. At this point you can throw away the instructions because they flat do not work. This, however, is not Verizon's fault; Apple created this mess.
    The Problems:
    1) If you installed the upgrade to iOS 8.0 and then the upgrade to 8.1, or if your old phone was set to update automatically, this can cause trouble during setup.
    2) In the middle of pushing out this new iPhone, Apple also released an update of iTunes. You need the CURRENT version of iTunes--absolutely. On a Mac you likely have it set to update automatically and, if not, check for it and install BEFORE setting up your new iPhone. On a PC running Windows opening iTunes triggers a search for new versions and alerts if you need to update. Do that from the dialog on the Windows screen if it shows up.
    3) Apple shipped the iPhone 6 models with an under the radar version of iOS 8, iOS 8.0.2, and I don't think they released it via the usual channels so most of us never got it. So what? Well, IF the version of the OS you are running on your old iPhone (4S and above) is higher than 8.0.2, as in you installed the 8.1 update, the Restore from Backup in iTunes bombs out. Bottom line--if you didn't install the 8.1 update on your old phone, DON'T.
    How To Survive Setup:
Some of this is from the mouth of an Apple Tech Support rep...
    1) You MUST have/know--your Apple ID and Password (these are the same as you use to access the App Store)--the security access code for your router so you can link to the wireless connection--your keychain code or password if you intend to use it on the new device--the passwords for your email accounts that you use on your iPhone.
    2) You MUST install the most current version of iTunes and BACKUP the contents of your old iPhone. There are two options; one is to the local computer, the other is to iCloud. I recommend the local computer since iCloud access could be problematic if your setup hangs.
    3) Turn on or wake up the iPhone and go through the setup screens. DO NOT turn on Find My iPhone when prompted. DO enter you Apple ID and password when prompted because that gives you access to the iCloud.
    4) At the screen instructing you to connect the device to iTunes, plug in the NEW iPhone. Its icon shows up in the upper left part of the screen. It's small so look carefully. On a Mac iTunes finds the phone quickly. On a Windows PC, a driver is installed before the phone's icon shows up in the iTunes window.
    5) Click on the iPhone's icon in the iTunes window. This takes you to a window with an upper and lower panel AND HERE IS WHERE YOU EITHER GET IT RIGHT OR SCREW IT UP.
    6) In the upper pane is a button (an option) to Reset Phone. This is the option you want--it is counter-intuitive--and Apple Tech Support passed this along. At this point it DOES NOT MATTER if you reset the entire phone because there is no personal data on it yet. NOTE: If you select Restore From Backup and your OS's are out of sync you could end up in a real worm hole (I did).
    7) When the Reset is complete THIS IS THE TIME to click Restore From Backup. You won't run into OS conflicts because in the Reset process your iPhone gets iOS 8.1 installed. The restore can take a while and depends on the amount of data in the backup. Depending on your Sync settings apps from your old phone may be transferred, as will music, videos, contacts and so on. You'll know it's finished when the progress bar at the top center of the iTunes window goes away.
    8) EJECT the iPhone by clicking the eject button in the iTunes window.
    9) Go to Settings/Cellular and enable LTE--the new, faster Verizon network. You can enable it for Voice, Data or both. Doing this improves signal strength and call quality.
    10) Poke around the iPhone and be sure everything critical came over to the iPhone 6 or Plus.
    11) IF it did AND you're going to sell it or do the trade-in $200 thing (a whole other can of worms), ON THE OLD PHONE go to Settings/General and at the very bottom of the choices on the right is one to Reset the phone and you want to select Reset and Erase All Settings And Data. You will be asked for your access code and, perhaps, password before the process begins, AND there are two prompts asking you to confirm this is what you REALLY, REALLY want to do. This should disconnect the phone from iCloud and clear your access code settings.
That should do it. HOWEVER... I don't know if this will happen to you or not. I ended up back at the Hello setup screen several times and if you just make your selections again it works just fine. I don't know why it does this nor do I care. It's not the user's fault.
Good luck and may the farce be with you :-)

    Thanks for the prompt reply.
I did try the options given in the above link.
It went well until the last few minutes where i got the below prompt message in the itunes.
"The iphone 6 had been locked and please enter the passcode on the iphone to process further"
But i dont have control on the iphone to do so.
whenever the mobile is switched ON, It shows only the message "Phone disabled, connect to itunes".
    Please advice.

  • My home button wont work on iphone 4 and it can not charge and shuts off at random times, what do i do?

For some time now my iphone shuts off randomly or does not charge but as i woke up this morning, my iphone did not charge the previous night and would not reconize any charger. continuosly trying, the home button suddenly stopped working! this is a nightmare whats wrong with my phone?!
P.S. I changed the color of my phone (the glass back) will apple still fix it for me?

Apple wouldn't replace it. Since you replaced your rear glass im assuming you know a little something on how to open the iPhone. Go ahead and order a new Charge port flex cable (it runs the home button as well) Unless the home button has damaged under the "dome" you wouldnt need to replace that cable unless you really have too.
