Iphone 6 Battery Drain Bug (Found ?)

I have a iphone 6 - 128gb model with T-Mobile as the carrier. To put it nicely the battery life of my iphone is PATHETIC!!!!! After turning the nice screen to 50% brightness and disabling about every feature I paid for on this phone here is what I get: With the phone turned on and the home page sitting idle - wi-fi on, my phone will drop 14-16% in 20 minutes. I can literally watch it go down 1% in little over a minute. I have spent hours reset from new etc.. and it still has the issue so I am going to go to the Apple store and demand a replacement.
Anyhow, in trying to find the source of the problem I discovered what MY biggest source of the battery drain. It is the "Wi-fi calling" feature. It does not have to be being used it kills my battery even at idle.. Turned off I may still loose 3-5% in 20 minutes but FAR, FAR less. Also my phone does not heat up with this disabled.
I posted this in case anyone else is experiencing the same issue, and needs a phone that they can actually unplug from the charger.

I found another thread here that discovered that the phone drops the wi-fi calling when the phone is asleep, so that is why it takes a few seconds to appear after you awake the phone.
Wi-Fi and Apples wi-fi drivers are broken. If anyone is having this same issue just turn your wifi calling off and see if it clears up the problem. Type "G" routers are another problem as well.
If this is you don't waste your time listening to the Geniuses and re installing everything on your phone as "new" it does not help. remember these are the same Geniuses that told you all you had to do when upgrading was to restore your phone from backup and it would be the same as new.

iphone 4s battery draining extremly fast, how annoying is that, Battery will be drain out within 12 hrs and I just usually watch 30 mins video (not using 3G/wifi) and 10mins on Phone .
I always turn off my Siri, Auto Detect Time Zone, 50% Brightness, NO background Apps are running and Mail is manually updated.
Does anyone facing the same problem?

Go to advanced and set icloud to manual I used to suffer from this because of icloud it was stuck in a loop and always draining the battery, try also resetting your network settings if it didn't work reset all settings and set it as a new phone drain the battery and charge it from 0 to 100% to recalibrate the battery , hope this works for you

• My iphone 3gs battery drains very fast

my iphone 3gs battery drains very fast it won't last for whole day
i just uses mail application and facebook for some time
can u tell why the problem is or need to change battery

I'm having the same problem with my 3Gs. In my case it is not the apps int he background or the brightness, or wifi or email push. The folks at the apple stroe tell me that there is some software glitch that shows up every few months.
I can only get rid of it by restoring my phone as a new device. In which case I lose all of my contacts, settings and all data. VERY frustrating. I had recived two new phones (before applecare ran out) and have done the resotre several times. No one can tell me what is in that creates this probelm. I've tried differenet chargers one by one in case they are the probelm. one int he car, one in a kitchen outlet, one at my home computer (sync) and on at my office computer (non-sync).
Problem just showed up again randomly two days ago, no new apps or hardware. battery drains from full to 0 in two hours.
Apple, please fix.

• Iphone 5 battery drains rapidly, I have turned off apps and location even purchased a new battery, is anyone else having this problem?

Iphone 5 battery drains rapidly, I have turned off apps and location even purchased a new battery, is anyone else having this problem? If anyone knows how to fix please let me know. I've tried the hard reset and nothing works.

There was a run of bad batteries for the iPhone 5. Apple will replace them if your phone qualifies and you haven't tried to fix it yourself. See: iPhone 5 Battery Replacement Program - Apple Support. Unfortunately, you may have disqualified yourself if you tried to repair it yourself.
However, rapid battery drain is only rarely caused by a bad battery. A bad battery is usually diagnosed by a battery percentage that jumps randomly. See this for advice: http://www.overthought.org/blog/2014/the-ultimate-guide-to-solving-ios-battery-d rain

• IPhone 4S battery drain! after update is even worse, iPhone 4S battery drain! after update is even worse

iPhone 4S battery drain! after update is even worse, iPhone 4S battery drain! after update is even worse

Settings -> General -> Backroung App refresh
Either selectively disable the ones you do not need, or just disable the feature altogether. Esepcially for apps that would be using location services, this has the potential to be a huge battery drain.
Also, in Privacy under Locations services, system services, disable at least the "popular near me" and "location based iAds" - both of these use location services a lot as they try to track your movements in real time. You can disable everything in system services if you wish (won't harm anything).

• IPhone hot, Battery draining fast, dataaccessd crashing repeatedly

I have been having problems where I find my iPhone battery has drained more quickly than normal, and I find it warmer than normal. Digging into it, I found that 'dataaccessd' and 'ReportCrash' are starting and stopping in the pid list. I am using a $2.99 iTunes Store program called System Activity Monitor to see the pids & CPU load. The CPU load is spiking every few seconds, which I guess correlates with the heat and battery drain.
I followed the recommendation below exactly with this afternoon's episode, and it is still running the processor and burning battery, looping through 'dataacessd' and 'ReportCrash' afterwards.
+Have you tried this simple tip?+
+1) Hit home button twice to bring up active applications+
+2) click and hold down mail until the red minus sign appears+
+3) click on the red minus sign to quit the application+
+4) hit the home screen and re-launch the mail application+
+This has always fixed my mail issues. Note restarting the phone does+
+not help, you need to do the above procedure.+
I also cycled power, and it came back up with dataaccessd still crashing & cycling with repetitive spiking CPU loads. I also turned 'push' off earlier today (Fetch New Data / Push -> Off), apparently with no effect.
I have the EAS profile installed per http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3398 with the DefaultEASTaskTimeout at 240. And it doesn't seem to matter whether the phone is on 3G or WiFi when this condition happens.
As usual, the "fix" was to delete my Exchange e-mail account and re-install it. After that, I don't see 'dataaccessd' and 'REportCrash' coming and going in the pid list. This "fix" works, but going through this procedure 3-4 times per week is getting old, not to mention the unpleasant surprise of finding my battery has unexpectedly drained when I need to use my device.
This is the first log entry (earliest) today at 13:39, when dataaccessd started crashing, before a slew of 4-6 entries per minute in the log directory on my Mac (after syncing) - see below.
Question - any ideas how to fix this ? It was happening before the latest iOS upgrades so I don't think the standard "reload the os" answer is the fix....

dataaccessed crashing repeatedly here as well, only when syncing with Exchange Calendar, regardless of push/fetch setting. Disabling calendar on this account stops the crashes. Re-creating account doesn't help. Problems started 2 days ago. More info on the crash from iPhone console below, collected using Configuration Utility, in case it can help someone. I suppose Apple automatically receives crash dumps for their own applications through iTunes ?

• Verizon iPhone 4 Battery Draining issue (continued)

This is not a question or help topic but more of an announcement. Here's my story:
I preordered the phone on it's February 3rd date and recieved the phone on February 7th. I did as Apple instructs when you get a new idevice (drain the battery down till it dies then recharge it to 100%.) I did that and began to use it, and keep in mind this was not heavy usage at all. I didn't have any app store apps installed at all, I set all settings in the phone to the best configuration for battery saving (truning off push notifications, turning off location services for apps you do not need, no bluetooth, no VPN, brightness at 33%, ect.) Now I thought the battery was strange as I had made my first phone call on 100% battery and it was a 5 minute call. I kid you not I lost 10% battery from one phone call. I thought that was rediculous so I went into my local verizon store and had it replaced. I did the same as I did last time and let the battery drain till it died and filled it to 100%. Tried the phone out and still had the same issue. I went back in and got my 3rd iphone 4. Did the same steps as before and drained then filled it. Yet again, I still had troubles with 3 phones in a row. I cantacted apple and got in contact with an apple engineer named Andrew. He sent me a file that they created that monitors what all is being used by the battery and monitors background processes and applications. I let that run for 24 hours and sent the battery loggin file back to Andrew. They reviewed the log and gave me a call the next day. They told me they did find some very significant battery draining and advised me to go to the nearest apple store ASAP and have the phone checked out. I drove 2 hours to the nearest store for them to just tell me the phone is fine (yotta yotta yotta) and they did a hard reset and restore on the phone (which I could have done from home on my computer and save the gas they made me waste driving for a total of 4 hours!) I tried contacting Andrew agiain but Andrew did not reply to any email sent to him nor return my calls. I got the point that he didn't want to deal with me anymore so I then decided to go the Verizon route. I called Verizon tech support and was transferred to a teir 2 representative. I told her my story, how many replacements I had, and how bad the battery life was. I told how my grandmother has an iphone 4 and I sat down comparing the 2 (battery life wise) and she chewed me out saying things like, "How dare you compare AT&T and Verizon!" I didn't want to listen to her chewing me out so I hung up. The next day I gave apple a call once again and they told me things I had already heard several times so I hung up. I called Verizon back and they said ok let's send you a replacement phone. Well the replacement phone came and wouldn't ya know it? The phone still had the same problem and on top of that they only sent me a phone. No box, no headphones, no USB cable, no charger. I called Verizon about this and asked why they only sent me a phone and they said, "Well you get to keep the phone but we want the other things back. The box, headphones, charger, USB cable, ect." I told them no and that they could have their refurbished phone back. This phone was not even refurbished. the reason I kow that is because it had someone's name written in the phone and it was still on 4.2.5. Had it been refurbished they would have done a fresh restore and update as 4.2.5 was deemed obsolete. That was very insulting in my opinion. So I sent that back and contacted apple one last time. I asked what other options I had as I was stressed and did not want to hear the same things I have already heard. they said they could send me a new phone free of charge and have me send back my current phone. I agreed to give it one last shot but I am still not confident that this phone will be any different.
Now that's my story. Now let me go into a discussion. I have been doing my own litle "investigation on this phone to see what is making this phone drain so bad. I took a look at a report from iFixit.com and they revealed some pretty interesting things built into the Verizon iPhone. I am not going into detail about it but you can google it and see for yourself and read the article about the components. They built the phone with not only CDMA tech but also GSM. Now what purpose would that serve? Honestly? That is a big battery drainer right there. Secondly, they found that the phone contained a different model battery that was lighter and had less capacity than the GSM version of the iPhone 4. That's a second red flag. My mission right now is to get Apple's attention that these phones do indeed have aproblem and they need to be looked at because this just aint workin'. I have had several replacements done (all have the same issue), several thousands of people are reporting the same results with their battery on the web, and Apple chooses to ignore it. Something needs to be done and I encourage any Verizon iPhone user to take action and make this issue known. I have a website with contact information of people who work high up in the chain of Apple along with Scott Forstall's contact info. Go to http://idevicesupport.webs.com/apps/blog/show/6441029-update and find a contact you like and call it and deman that apple investigate these phones. We can get this issue resolved if we make it known. Don't be mean or nasty to them. They are very nice people but at the sametime don't let them talk over you. Make your voice heard. Thanks for listening guys. Take care. - Joe

• Want to Fix iPhone 5 Battery Drain? (A Workaround)

iPhone 5 (US - AT&T GSM - MD634LL)
iOS 6.0.2 (10A551)
Note: What I will detail/propose below is the implementation of a workaround to make do with what we have until Apple provides the solution.
The hard truth to swallow for loyal Apple customers and device users is that the hardware Apple used in the iPhone 5 is power-hungry, services provided via iOS are not optimized to reduce resource consumption, and if Apple did not also include a bigger battery with the iPhone 5 then owners would be even more upset.
So, long story short...
Over five nights, I did some simple tests.
The first night, I left my phone in Airplane Mode overnight - some drain while idle.
The second night, disabled Spotlight Search indexing and left my phone in Airplane Mode overnight - minimized drain while idle.
The third night, I turned off wifi - small amount of drain and I noticed that my cellar data usage (sent and received) increased by just over a couple of megabytes in total. Strange...
The fourth night, I enabled logging on my router. Since all of my wireless devices are assigned static addresses, I can narrow down data hogs pretty easily and see where they are going to get data and how much data was sent/recevied. With wifi left on, many hundreds of requests were sent to push*.apple.com servers by my iPhone 5 and a couple of megabytes worth of data were sent/received. Why? Because I had push enabled for iCloud (I always set my email accounts to Manual data fetching). It seems to me that push is still not push and that iOS will check to see if updated data in iCloud needs to be fetched. Push in the iOS world is another way of saying "try to fetch data much more frequently than the periodic fetch data settings." I also looked at my OpenDNS stats since I got the iPhone 5 in early December and these servers made up a hugely massive chunk of all my internet traffic at home. It is fair to note that my wifi-only third-generation iPad makes many hundreds of requests to those servers as well, but I am guessing that the hardware used for it is not as power-hungry and I do not have BT enabled and I do not have any battery drain while idle issues with it.
The fifth night, with both push and fetch disabled, all notifications disabled, as many location services as possbile disabled, all cellular data services disabled, Spotlight Search not indexing anything, I left wifi and cellular on and noticed that my battery drained only a couple percent while my iPhone 5 sat idle on my nightstand and only a minimal amount of cellular data was used (for what I do not know...).
So, until/if Apple decides to do something, if you want to maximize your iPhone 5 battery's charge, then I recommend implementing the following:
High Prority Settings
If you do not use it, turn off Spotlight Search completely by deslecting all of the items that it can index. As with newer versions of OS X, services related to Spotlight Search indexing seem to run quite often and for extended durations of time.
Unless you are a doctor or a very important person in another profession that must know when you get a new email, turn Push off and set Fetch to manual for all iCloud and all mail accounts. You can also go one step further and set each account to "Manual".
Unless you connect to a very underutlized 4G LTE network, turn off LTE. I tested this change and the difference between standard 4G and 4G LTE on AT&T network in Denver metro area is negligible.
Turn off ALL iOS System Services for Location Services. They do nothing but track you for your Apple's location-based advertising platform. For most, setting the time zone is done when the phone connects via celluar or wifi, and, my car has a navigation system with traffic data and I use Google Maps if I need navigation or traffic data when not in my car. Not a single Apple iOS System Location Service is absolutely necessary and will drain your battery.
Medium Priority Settings
Disable using cellular data for everything if possible. I still choose to leave it on for "iCloud Documents" and that doesn't seem to hurt things.
Disable Location Services for as many apps as possible/reasonable. Do at least leave "Find My iPhone" enabled. Note that some other apps may require that they be able to use your location (e.g. SiriusXM).
Disable as many Notifications (everything about Notifications - banners, alerts, badges, sounds, etc.) as possible.
Low Priority and Typical Settings
Reduce screen brightness as much as possible. Approximately 33% seems to suffice. Auto brightness can be left on since it seems to never really be used anyway.
Turn off Bluetooth when you do not need it enabled.
Turn off any automatic downloads for iTunes and App Stores, and Podcasts.
So, yep, a total PITA. But by doing all of the above, a full battery charge lasts several days with 10+ (or more) hours of actual usage. I hope this helps anyone else that attempts to do the same. Screenshots for those unfamiliar with the key settings above are included below (everything is done via the Settings - aka Preferences - app with a "gear" logo).
Disable Spotlight Search Indexing
Push and Fetch for iCloud and Mail Accounts
Turning Off LTE
System Location Services
Celluar Data Settings
Notifications
Automatic Downloads (apps, music, iBooks and podcasts) for "iTunes & App Stores" and "Podcasts"

Hello,
I am currently an owner of an Ipod Touch 4th generation.
I have had battery drain problem on the Ipod Touch 4th generation.
But, I found a solution that works for me:
Do the IOS update (the one that is the latest, or if you already did, then proceed to step 2)
Reset All Settings: SETTINGS>GENERAL>RESET>RESET ALL SETTINGS
Use it until it dies (automatically shuts off)
Plug into Charge
Leave it 1.5 hours or longer after it reaches 100% --> Undisturbed (preferably overnight)
Give it a few days to Calibrate
This has helped me on my Ipod Touch 4th generation, running IOS 6.0.1
The battery seems to give me 2 days 30 hours of standby, and 10 hours and 15 minutes of usage.
Thats pretty good!

• IPhone 5 battery drains quickly, HELP

Ok, ive been banging my head against the wall for the last week because of my iphone 5.
I bought it august 2012
My orginal battery really started draining quickly 2 weeks ago. when it was dead it would not charge or power up. I brought it back to the shop where i bought and they sent it back because i thought it was under warranty. Turns out because i changed the screen myself a few weeks back my warranty was now void.
I bought a new battery online and replaced it myself, i left the new battery drain to the red and then charged for 12 hours. it still drained in about 4 hours. rechrged again for 6 hours and same result.
If there is any body that has any advice for me i would be delighted,
Thanks for listening

Do you also own an iPad? I have struggled with all solutions to fast depleting battery on iphone 4s (and ipad) since installing ios7. I sync via icloud to my ipad and noticed the b stopped if I powered off the ipad for a day! ios7 must have set up some cycle that drained both devices. Now I have set the ipad to manual (not push) on icloud and diary sync and battery life is back to normal for a whole week it can last 48 hours with light use- no longer have to keep shutting down all apps and turning off bluetooth and wifi to get through a day! Any one else found the same solution?

• IPhone 5 battery drains very quickly

I've had an iPhone 5 for about a year and a half and it all of a sudden started draining really quickly. Without using it outside of a few texts, it is at 50% by noon. With use, it easily completely drained by then. Also, I have noticed a few odd things regarding charging my phone: I receive a "this accessory is not meant for this device and may not charge" error and when plugged into my car charger, it alternates between charging and not charging rapidly, just making the battery drain even faster. I replaced the car charger, and no longer have this problem, but recently had the same problem when trying a new external portable charging source. I've stopped using the particular cord that gave me the error, and think this has solved the problem. Just mentioning both these issues as I've never had problems with them before.
Here are the things I've tried to fix the problem:
Tested battery at Apple. First time was deemed okay, the next week they said it was borderline failing (80%).
Replaced the battery by buying a battery online ($25, and relatively well rated). Continued to see problems.
Updated settings (remove location services, switch off bluetooth and wifi, turn off push for all email accounts, you name it I've tried it). Although I tried these things, I did have a phone with all these settings turned on for a year and a half and still had a battery that would last me through the day, so I don't think settings alone are the problem.
Restored phone to factory settings (not to previous iphone back up). This was to address any software bugs that could be causing the problem.
Replaced battery with a second battery bought online (bought the highest rated battery I could find).
Took phone into iPhone repair store. They looked at the inside of the phone and said it looked good. Replaced battery again.
After all of this, my battery still drains super quickly. I do not think it the battery since I've replaced it three times and don't think it is the software since I did a restore to factory settings.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I've tried everything I could think of and need to squeeze another 5 months out of this phone until I'm eligible for the upgrade. Right now I have an external battery pack, but this is a bit of a pain to charge and carry around.
A friend of a friend has had some similar issues and they said they had the lightning connector replaced, and it solved the problem. Anyone have any experience with this?
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have been round and round with Apple "geniuses" trying to resolve battery drainage issues. I have turned off all kinds of background programs, reset the phone and even did a full restore. Nothing worked. The end result was an Apple senior technician just giving up and telling me that the battery life I'm getting is "good." I don't see how that's the case since I used to go to work, use my phone and come home with battery power still in the 70s or 60s if I was really active. Now with most everything turned off, I come home with battery power in the 30s and sometimes even the 20s, just barely hanging on to operational status. I now have to carry my charger around with me and charge this hunk of junk every opportunity I get. The diagnostic on the battery shows it to be fine which is not surprising considering I take very good care of my phone. I had no issues until installing that battery sucking virus known as iOS 8.1. I am so utterly disappointed with Apple that I will never buy any of their junk products again. I am especially angry at being told that the life I'm getting is somehow "good." I imagine that no one actually tested iOS 8.1 before rolling it out. They finished the last line of code and immediately issued it to the public. My interactions with Apple Support confirm that they only care about people who have purchased their latest product. Have an iPhone 5? Too bad! You need to get the iPhone 6 to continue enjoying your Apple experience. Screw their overpriced crap.

• IPhone 4s battery drain: one of the reasons

Hi All!
I found one of the reason of battery drainage. I'm sure by 100% and that's why:
Since the day 1 I have very good battery life: about 0.3-0.5% battery off during standby, charge needed 1 per 2 days etc. Nothing to complain. It was during 2 months already. Most of things on.
I use the iPhone with 2 simcards and change it about twice a month. Today morning I did the next exchange. I put in the same card I mostly use. I was in a car and plug the iPhone to charger. I found that the phone became unusual warm during charge and most strange that it became warm near the sim-slot.
I charged it for 100% and unplug. And I was wondered - the battery drained to 1% within 6 hours! It was a 15 hours drive so I had time. I charge the iPhone for 25% and was noticed then that discharge was about 1% every 3-4 minutes. AND! The sim slot still little bit warm.
At home I take the SIM away and went to sleep with 55% of charge. After 6 hours of dreams I got 52% - about 0.5% per hour as usual.
I put the SIM back but clean it (by ditry t-shirt honestly). And now the discharge is normal again and nothing warm.

2 days battery back up with iphone 4S ??? looks like you don't even use your phone. but keep it for show off. well better sell it and buy a basic phone just to keep it with you and make 1 call per day.

• IPhone 3 battery draining since iOS6 update

My husband has an iPhone 3G (not a 3GS) and since I updated it with iOS6, his battery is draining very quickly. I had the same problem when I had an iPhone 3GS and updated it to iOS4. I thought my battery draining was because my phone was so old, so I got a new one and then the bug fix came out. Has anyone heard if there will be a bug fix for battery issues on iOS6? Any other thoughts as to why his battery is draining so quickly? I have changed the settings (brightness, no apps running in background, push notifications, etc.) as best I can to make sure it's not using too much battery, but that does not help.

• How to fix iPhone 4S battery drain?

Usage: 4 Hours, 44 Minutes - NOT TRUE!
Standby: 7 Hours, 54 Minutes

I have personally seen the problem and corrected it on numerous models now including the 4S, 4, 3GS and iPad 2s. Corrupt system level settings created by an iOS 5 bug in the original release that caused battery recalibration issues, etc. Just installing the update does not fix the issue in most cases (sometime it initially can be worse). You need to clear out those settings and recalibate the battery. For those still having the "standby battery drain" issue follow the procedure below in order. It does fix the problem in most cases.
Go through these steps to address the battery after updating to iOS 5.0.1:
1. Reset all settings (settings app-> general-> reset)
2. Go through initial setup steps (lang, wifi, siri, enable location, etc) and choose setup as new phone (don't worry your apps, data, contacts, mail will still be there). At this point, Do NOT restore from iCloud or iTunes (It can copy back corrupt settings)
3. Turn off system location services timezone and iAd
4. Fully discharge battery (till it shuts off with the spinning wheel)
5. Fully recharge battery (overnight if possible)
In my experience this improves the standby battery drain issue significantly in most cases. It reduces drain from 2-4% or more per hr to 0.5% or less. It has worked for many, many users now... not all, but most. If it does not work after a few try's you may have a real battery or hardware issue and should contact Apple. Good Luck!

• IPhone 5 battery drain solution

So I have had my iPhone 5 for less than a week and updated to 6.1.4 and had very bad battery drain. After reading a ton for battery saving tips. I was frustrated, cause what's the point in sacrificing the iPhone 5's functionality cause of an Iso issue. So I finally found solution. Go to Settings> Privacy> Local Services> System Services and turn off Diagnostic & Usage, Genius for Apps, and Location based iAds. In doing this I noticed battery life comparable to my iPhone 4. Hope this helps
