Iphone 6 charging issue

hello,
i seem to have an issue with my phone charging, i have two apple lighting cables that work perfectly, however, if i try and use any other lighting cable, including two brand new cables from apple, they will not charge. when my phone dies, and i plug it in using a different cable, it says its charging, but it never comes back on, and im stuck with a black screen and can't do anything with it until i get to my two cables.

Hello bobrulesall,
Based on your description of your configuration and the charging issues you are having (charging only from a specific pair of Apple Lightning cables), you may want to have your iPhone evaluated and/or serviced. You may find the information on the following page helpful:

  • IPhone charge issue with Mountain Lion

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, my iPhone no longer charges when my iMac goes to sleep. I've check the settings already but didn't see anything. What am I missing here?

This is because while you've re-installed the system, you've preserved the user account. You need to do a  "clean" install meaning a reformat and install. If the Mac orginally shipped with Lion or ML you can redownload via Recovery Partition but if the Mac shipped with Leopard 10.5.x or Snow Leopard 10.6.x then you need the OEM discs that shipped with it. You can call Apple and they will send you the discs for a nominal charge.

  • Iphone charging issues

Well, I've been having problems charging... I've tried 4 different chargers and it's always the same... 2 are wall chargers that came with phones... 1 is a car charger and 1 is for a connection to my stereo in my car. Never had a problem charging before but suddenly a couple months ago my phone started acting strangely when plugged in. If I do ANYTHING on the phone while the phone is charging it switches to the "plug" symbol instead of the lightning bolt. Which means it isn't charging and the phone eventually "dies" like it wasn't even plugged in. I was under warranty and apple replaced my phone a week ago and now I'm having the same problems with the new phone. It was IMMEDIATE on this phone too... not like the phone was charging fine and then started having problems. Has anyone else seen this problem? Any ideas on how to fix?

If the AC has quit in your car and since you live in Florida and it is still summertime and very hot, more than likely this is the problem when your iPhone is connected to a power source in your car and using your iPhone at the same time. As already provided, the iPhone includes protection for the battery to protect is from excessive heat, and the temperature of the battery is increased when being charged alone. That and using your iPhone at the same time in the heat of the summer in Florida with no AC in your car.
There is nothing you can turn off to make the temperature lower - not if you want to use your iPhone for calls at the same time.
Does the same occur when your iPhone is connected to your computer to be charged while being used at the same time? If not, this is due to excessive heat in your car.

The most important thing is to keep your iPhone out of the sun or a hot car (including the glove box). Heat will degrade your battery’s performance the most.

  • IPhone charging issue

All of a sudden well after I updated to 7 I am now getting the same error message and the phones not charging. I am using the oem cable and I have also tried my wife's OEM cable still same error message and will not charge. I reset the phone still same. I confirmed that both the cables were good and the charging port on the phone was clear. Need help

To bypass the software based block do the following.
    Turn phone off.
As the phone is powering down, when the spinning icon is on the screen plug it in.
The phone will now charge to full
This doesn’t work if the phones fully powered down because it auto powers up the phone and recognises the chip and blocks it.
Its not ideal but it WORKS and is great for emergencies.
I suggest you search ebay for MFI / ios 7 cables there’s a lot out now. And NEVER update you're iphone again. Better yet just get a Samsung or htc or Google.
Its things like this that sent blackberry and nokkia down the tubes. Apple just did the same thing. They reached their tipping point. I've give the iphone 3-4 years before its just a memory like the nokia ringtone or the blackberry qwerty keyboard. We'll remember iphones for their touch screens I think. Great example of a company not learning from other companies mistakes and failing to innovate.
Apple blocked a lot of cable keys. Including offical keys that were suspected of being used on non-MFI cables.
Sony, Panasonic, belkin etc all pay big $$ to have a licence to use the proprietary 'lightning' cable. Which is basically a USB cable that apple wants everyone to use. The EU has laws against creating these kinds of devices due to the ewaste but because Apple is a monopoly they can do anything they want. USB, more particularly micro-USB is the standard for every phone and tablet device. Apple is the only manufacturer who appears to ignore ewaste laws and anti-competitive laws and continue to insist on ID chips in everything it makes. They would put them in your food and brain if they could lol. Welcome to aple.
If I was a business I'd do it too money money money! its the name of the game.
USB cables have never killed anyone yet somehow apple is trying to convince everyone they do lol... At least thats what their marketing team is trying like the devil to say. I wish I could make a 50cent cable and charge $25 for it.
PS I called apple twice and spoke to 2 'genius’s'. I took in 16 cables. They denied there was a problem and then said maybe try an apple cable... which of course worked. Their solution was to recommend buying 16 new cables... I walked out. Sickening. They were all scripted to say 'we've never had this problem' and simply deny what’s happening. Anyhow my company has stripped apple off recommended status and moved to replace the 230+ iphones we supplied to companies with other brands. No one can copy files over without itunes, no ones cables work anymore. No one can Bluetooth files. No one can use music. Our head bosses thought it would be a good idea to keep everyone uniform. Now they are trying to ditch apple products as fast as they can due to these kinds of screw ups every 6 months on top of zero innovation.

  • IPhone 4 - Charging issues including "This accessory may not be supported."

So for the past couple of weeks, on and off, my iPhone 4 (2 years old) has been having intermittent charging issues. I have gone through four charging cords, all from Apple, and two charging blocks, both from Apple - none of these change/resolve the issue.
I had an online chat through Apple with someone a week ago, and she suggested resetting my settings only (resetting the entire phone was my husband's idea) - resetting the phone entirely did not resolve the issue, and resetting the settings (and only the settings) works for maybe 1-2 days maximum. Any of the following things happen when plugging in the phone to charge:
    1) The phone charges normally (very rare anymore, happens more often if I reset the settings on the phone first then put everything back the way I want it)
    2) The phone charges for maybe two seconds, then a message pops up that says "This accessory may not be supported." (8/10 times this happens, can usually get it to charge normally if I unplug and replug a bunch of times)
    3) The phone makes the noise/vibrates like it is charging, but the battery percentage will go down over time. (rare, but does happen)
An Apple store visit is not exactly...possible? I live an hour and a half away from my closest one, and the location is not easy to get to (cross a bridge, pay $13 toll, $13 to get back over to go home, and that's just the way there and back...forget finding the place). I have cleaned out the phone at the charging port more times than I can count. My husband seems to think it is a battery issue...thoughts?

iOS 7 will give errors on non Apple certified peripherals.  So make sure you only use Apple certified products. Did you backup the phone and then RESTORE AS NEW (not reset)? Try doing that by plugging the phone to iTunes on a computer. See if that helps. If it solves the problem, there could have been corrupted software on you phone. If not, it could be a hardware issue (including the battery), in which case you would need to go to a Apple Store or authorized service provider.

  • IPhone 5 charging issue ?

I normally put my iPhone 5 in charge at night and take it off in the morning once I get up, the device stays in charge for around 5 hours on a regular basis. I am wondering whether I am overcharging the device  ?  Since it still stays on charge even when the battery gets full, does it affect the device ? Please suggest.

The iPhone charging circuit turns off when the battery is full. I leave mine on during the night and have never had a problem. I've used iPhones from the beginning. See this if you have further questions about batteries for the iPhone. http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html

  • I mistake to using Iphone charger to recharge my Ipad and now the Ipad can't recharge thou.

I mistake to using Iphone charger to recharge my Ipad and now the Ipad can't recharge by the original charger. How can I do?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

  • IPAD 3 battery charging issues

iPAD 3 battery charging issues. Read most of the discussions. My question is: If I take my iPAD to Apple Genius bar - what's the test they do to qualify for a replacement (do they place it on a charge and see the charge for Y% for X minutes or do they have other methods)

  • IPad 3 charging issues

I have had my shiny new iPad plugged in overnight with it's included iPad charger  (it was displaying some context for some of that).
I have just woken up and it's only at 39%!!!! Now I know that it's meant to take longer to charge but that is unbelievable!?
As I said I'm using the lead and charger it came with, the only exception is I'm also using a usb extension lead inbetween as the plug is quite far away. I used the same lead with my iPad 2 every night and it charged fine and fast.
It also kept displaying not charging when plugged into my PC (which is definitely high powered ports).
Should I be booking a genius bar appointment do you think!?
    Thanks!

This is a genuine issue and needs to be addressed.
Yesterday, launch day, I received a white AT&T 32GB 4G version, but I found the color distracting and AT&T lied to me and I got no signal at all where I live.  I was actually able to take it to my local store midday and exchange it for a black Verizon model.  The Verizon is screaming fast.
Anyway, they both have the same charging issues so this is a definite problem with all iPads, or the iPad chargers supplied.  I believe Apple will have to send us all replacement chargers.  While using my iPad, even plugged into the 10W charger and with the cellular data radio turned off, doing nothing more than typing on this very forum with all other apps closed, the battery drains at a rate of about 5% every half hour.... WITH THE CHARGER PLUGGED IN!  The charger is active and the lightning bolt battery icon is up there.  The iPad will only charge when the device is fully powered down.  Even if it is in standby the unit will not charge when plugged in.  This is either an OS bug that needs to be fixed or the charger supplied is not nearly adequate.
The iPad charger will charge my iPhone 4S rapidly, even when in use.  It also charged my previous iPad 2 in a decent amount of time.  But this 10W charger certainly does not charge the iPad while on, and the iPad certainly does not get 10 hours of use with or without the charger plugged in,
This is a serious issue and one that needs to be address promptly.  Apple needs to send us all higher wattage chargers, issue an OS fix, or take care of whatever the problem is.
They also obviously didn't think the new iPad development through.  The unit gets quite warm when in use and quite hot when the cellular is on.  Also, the display does not get as bright as the iPhone 4S, and several people at the Apple Store agreed with me on all these issues.
Unless Apple wants to see a lot of returns and unhappy consumers, they need to fix this issue pronto.  In the time it's taken me to type this post the power has gone down another 3%, with the charger plugged in and supposedly charging.  Something is seriously wrong here.

  • IPhone charging bug in 3.0

    Hi,
I am curently using a Dension Gateway 100 to connect my iPhone 3GS to my car audio system. It's the model with the new cradle compatible with USB charging for the iPhone 3G/3GS / Touch 2G.
However, I do have a charging issue with my iPhone 3GS (running OS 3.0) that I suppose is a software one:
When I plug the iPhone in the cradle, it vibrates and briefly shows the charging icon, but then about half a second later the icon disappears (gets back to the way it is when it's not charging) and I got the 'this accessory does not support charging ...' message.
It seems that the iPhone correctly detects the USB current (the vibration and charging icon), but then it also detects the 12V current on the firewire pins, and then disables the charging altogether.
I got my iPhone to charge correcly using this accessory once or twice, by timing right the insertion into the cradle (couldn't find a pattern to reproduce though), and have no issue charging with USB on my computer, power adapter or using a iPod firewire-to-usb-charging dock adapter.
So it seems like it could be a bug in the 3.0 firmware. Could you confirm that?
Is anyone having the same issue with accessories that provide both firewire and usb charging?
    Thanks.

I'm sorry if I sounded harsh or anything, or trying to find false faults in your arguments. That was not my intent, and if you have any backed up information to contradict me, I'd be more than happy to read it.
But, when you look at the dock pinout (http://pinouts.ru/PortableDevices/ipod_pinout.shtml I know, it's not an official document and does not states anything about the 3GS, but it's still interesting to have a look to) there are a few things to note:
Pins 3/4 are for audio line-out. Since my 3GS does play music back to the car radio, my guess is they haven't changed.
Pins 11/12/13 are for serial communication. Since my 3GS does support the Apple Accessory Protocol that uses serial communication (it supports remote control from the steering wheel remote controls, does communicate track/album names to the car radio (see pin 21) when the car system is in "Gateway Mode") my guess is that they haven't changed either.
Pin 21 is for accessory indicator. Its the one that triggers the warning message stating that the plugged accessory is incompatible with iPhones, or triggers the "iPod Accessory" mode with serial communication (see pins 11/12/13). Maybe Apple introduced new resisting values to manage 3GS specific accessories, but everything points to the fact that old ones are still supported (as the 3GS goes into "iPod Accessory" mode when the car system is in "Gateway Mode" and communicates correctly track/album names through the Apple Accessory Protocol, or that the volume gets locked into "Dock connection" mode when plugged in, etc.)
Pins 16/23/25/27 for USB charging. Since the 2G/3G USB charging adapters are still working with the 3GS, my guess is that they haven't changed.
Finally, for the 3rd party accessories that don't work as designed or at all going from 2G to 3G to 3GS (such as your BOSE SoundDock), the only issues I'm aware of are the firewire charging issue, and the "accessory not made for iphone" message (which is due to the fact that the accessory has not been shielded for radio interferences, thus not having a resisting value on pin 21 that relates to an designed-for-iPhone accessory). There is also the issue of the chip in the video-out cable, but that concerns the migration from iPod 5G to iPhone, not 3G to 3GS, and my car system isn't video cappable, so it's not applicable here. But If you have any information of other bugs affecting these devices, feel free to point me to them.
That is (AFAIK, again) what happened with the BOSE SoundDock Series I vs Series II : the I was charging via firewire only and had a resisting value on pin 21 that registered it as an iPod accessory (thus the warning message on iPhones, both 2G and 3G), whereas the II has USB charging and a radio frequency shielding, so it is authorized to register itself to an iPhone as an iPhone accessory (different resisting value on pin 21, thus no warning message).
But I guess we're going slightly out of topic here, which is that when my accessory is plugged in (and provides both firewire and usb charging), the iPhone initially detects the usb charging (thus the vibration and charging icon) but soon after loses it as it seems it detects also firewire charging.
One might say that this is due to the 3GS detecting a now-unsupported resisting value on pin 21. But when I use the firewire-to-usb charging adapter (link in my previous post) that passes through signal from the other pins, it then has the same resisting value on pin 21, but now only usb charging (no FW) and does not loses charging as it happened without the adapter. *That's what points me to either a hardware firewire-to-USB power conversion problem, or a software bug in my iPhone.*
Sorry for the long post, I hope I haven't lost you (or an Apple Software/Hardware Engineer reading it).
    Have a nice day.

  • TS2634 IPAD charging issue?

I have the first IPAD and all of a sudden I cannot charge my IPAD through a electrical outlet.  I can only re-charge it through my laptop.  Anyone know why and can this be fixed?

Will it charge using the iPhone charger. It's only 5W, so it will charge more slowly.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.

Can different chargers hurt the ipod? (Ex. iphone charger used on a ipod classic)

I am pretty sure that it does not harm the ipod. I have been using my iphone charger on shuffles, nanos, touches, and ipads, kindles, and more  ever sense the iphone came out and i have never had any issues with any of them. You should be fine using them.

  • IPhone charging

**I recently received an iPhone for Christmas and tried charging it for the first time last night. I used the docking station and plugged the device into a wall outlet for the entire night and it did nothing. I just tried to plug it into the computer also and it the battery symbol has a lightning bolt in the middle of it. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

If it is red then I'm not sure if it is the glitch announced, but could be.

  • Iphone4s charging issues

I have an Iphone 4s and I recently damaged my charging cord. So I was charging my phone on a docking station I had for my phone. I recently purchased a new Iphone charger and it worked for a couple of days but now it doesnt. When my phone is turned on it will not charge. But when I turn the phone off it will charge but when the phone is off and charging it does not show the battery charging. Is there something I can do to fix this issue??

Sounds like a problem with your dock connector. Try cleaning it with a soft toothbrush & compressed air. Look closely for any bent pins or crud, it doesn't take much to create a short, thus producing that error message.

  • Droid Charge Issues

I have only had my Droid Charge for 2 months and I absolutely hate it!  It locks up all the time and I have to take the battery out.  Then it switches to 3G where I live.  Now, it won't charge.  I charge it every night.  Charged it last night, barely used it today and it's almost dead.  It's been on the charger for 2 hours now and is still showing a dead battery.  I have about had it with this phone.  Of course Verizon is absolutely no help!  They're the ones that talked me into this phone.  I wanted the Iphone and they said this one was way better.  It's a piece of crap!!!

I haven't had the opportunity to read through all of the Droid Charge Issue posts but it appears that we are ALL having similar problems to an extent....
I have had my charge since May and if memory serves me correctly, I had it replaced once within the initial month or so of having it
I have ALWAYS had an issue with 4G coverage..I've always been told that it's due to a lack of a connection in my area but friends in my home are able to get 4G service and I can in certain parts of the home. I was actually getting 1X service which is just RIDICULOUSLY unacceptable for what I paid for this phone.
Lately the 4G/3G service in my home has not been AS BAD but still is not great. I never had a signal at work and was told it was due to the structure of the building as the service was designed to work outdoors, really?? so I'm going to sit outside and make phonecalls and get the internet connection I need?! umm  NO.
my Biggest complaint recently has been my phone freezing, the screen during off during a call in which i need to use the dialpad and cannot get the screen to come up and the CHARGE's inability to CHARGE!!!! When I use my wall charger (YES the SAMSUNG charger that came with the phone) or a cigarette lighter charger in my car the phone goes back and forth from charging to not charging. I have to move it a million different ways for it to charge and cannot guarantee that it will charge during the night. Due to the nature of my job and the situations that I am put into while at work, I need my phone to be RELIABLE and CHARGED at all times! I cannot deal with this charging issues. It was not happening as recent as two months ago. I noticed that my car charger worked fine and then one day would bring up the message asking if I want to access the media or mass storage instead of charging it. The mere sound of the beeping going from an uncharged to a charged state every second without any movement is making me what to end my contract.
Verizon needs to do something. I have not turned my phone in yet because I am NOT WILLING To pay all of the money that I do to be sent a REFURBISHED phone that was turned in for the same issues!
    ANY SUGGESTIONS?
I was also talked out of buying the iPhone back in May (of course theres little profit on them for VZW!)
