Iphone 6 - falsely reporting storage full

I know for a fact that I should have 20+ GB of space available but my IPhone 6 seems to think that its out of space.  I tried syncing it with my PC based on a tip I received online and it worked but the issues started again.  This time sync'ing does not help.  I tried to restore the phone from a back up but could not do that because the phone did not have enough space available.  This is a major issue...I am completely blocked from doing anything when it thinks that it is out of space.  Help!!!

Restore the phone as a new device.  Then try restoring your most recent backup.  If that fails, there's probably something corrupt in your backup.  You'll need set up your phone from scratch.

  • IPhoto iPhone import failed but storage full

    Hi guys
I recently tried to import a rather large library from my partners iPhone - she's been sitting on a backlog of photos. This took a long, long time and eventually failed to import in iPhoto.
I cancelled and removed the iPhone.
However, my Macbok Pro is now almost full in terms of storage and it seems that this failed import added about 10-15GB worth of storage on to my machine, but I can't see them in iPhoto. Where could these files be so I can delete them?
    Thanks,
    Ian

  • The iphone 5C storage full at 5GB. Why?

If iphone 5C has 8GB capacity, why is storage full at 5GB? Thanks

The operating system takes up some space and, like most any computer/memory driven device, the reporting of storage accounts for the rest.

  • ICloud storage full on iphone, but deleted almost everything and grows larger!  iPad is fine with same iCloud acct.  can I delete iPhone backup then turn it back on without loosing iCloud data?

Icloud storage full.  Can I delete my iPhone icloud backup with keeping my iCloud data unharmed (since my iPad has iCloud storage turned on, and I wouldn't be turning iCloud off on my iPad). BTW, I use iTunes for music and photo albums; iCloud for contacts, notes, etc. Then turn iCloud back up back on on iphone to see if I had a problem file and the storage changes?
ICloud storage full.  I deleted messages, moved the camera roll to my PC, deleted Safari bookmarks, turned off almost every app in Managing  iCloud storage.  I turned off the backup, restarted iCloud backup and did a manual backup yet my storage gets larger yet.
Makes no sense.  I have a iPhone and iPad. It's the iPhone showing this large iCloud storage  3.6 GB (when the iPad has more apps and only 716MB).

ANSWER to my Question above:  YES.
I took a chance, as I could find NO information regarding my question, and DELETED MY ICLOUD BACKUP (not my ICLOUD account).  I then turned ON my ICLOUD BACKUP and whew!  It plummeted from 4.8 GB full out of 5 GB TO: 1.2 GB full out of 5 GB.
I even turned on more settings to back up and it still shows 1.2 GB full in ICLOUD, 3.8 available.  No more emails to say I am running out of ICLOUD space.
[For what its worth if others are getting messages their ICLOUD is almost full, and you don't have all that much on ICLOUD.  Then when you even delete apps, messages, camera roll, turn off almost ALL icloud back ups and features the ICLOUD backup grows even larger.  My ICLOUD kept increasing in size while I was decreasing my ICLOUD storage in Managing storage.]
(All my ICLOUD contacts, notes, Safari bookmarks, were returned in place.)

  • Iphone storage full with other

    Hello,
I have an iPhone 5 and my storage is full with other. I don't have many apps on my phone but still it's full.
    What can I do?
I already emptied my phone & put the back up on my phone, but now it's fuller than it was.

Sometimes this is caused by a corrupted iTunes metadata file and gets fixed by downloading a new song. More likely, you'll have to restore.

  • TS1324 I have synced my Ipad and Iphone and my Icloud storage is full now, I want to unsync so I can use both of their Icloud storages separately, how can I do that?!!

Your iCloud storage is linked to your Apple ID, you can't unlink the devices unless you use separate Apple ID's for each device. That's not a good idea as you will have to pay for the same purchases twice on each device and you don't want to do that.
Backup with iTunes where the size of you backup is only limited by the a amount of available space that you have on your computer, buy more storage in iCloud, or .... and this makes no sense either but it is a possibility ... remove one of the devices from iCloud and backup one in iTunes. If you are going to backup with iTunes, backup both devices with iTunes and leave iCloud alone.
You don't need to backup with iCloud if you backup with iTunes and you can still download your past purchases without having to actually use iCloud for backups.

I deleted all my pictures,a lot of apps and it still appears and it sayS to manage my storage on settings to buy more space ,what do I have to do?
I used to have a lot of pictures and a lot of app,I deleted most of it and the message still appears and alway says to buy more storage as I still have 20gb free.

icloud storage and device storage are very different.
    go to
    settings>General>usage
you can then  see the two seperate entries.
icloud storage is for backup of settings and such, device storage is for apps, music, books and such.
you cannot load more onto the device if it is out of space.

  • IPhone 6 Plus 16b storage available 0 bytes

    Hello everybody,
i'm writing because it's 3 months now that i'm trying to find out (restoring, reseting my phone),
WHY even if my phone is empty/clean of apps, videos, photos, on the iTunes says that:
    a) my photos are using 188,9MB of space;
    b) my Documents and Data are using 48,9MB of space;
    c) my """""OTHERS"""""!!!!!!!!!! are using 9,16GB of space?????????
    d) free space 826,1MB,
and on the Usage of my phone says that the Used space is 11,6BG and the Available space 0 bytes?
Does someone knows what is that OTHER and how can i clean my phone?

The storage is occupied with iOS and system files. To free up some space you may try to reset and restore your device.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
Press and hold on the Home button
Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.
Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings
If this does not help, try these steps. Note that this may erase the data from your computer.
You need to restore your device to factory settings.
Take a look this Apple Support article: Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support.
If this does not help, try the recovery mode. Turn your device off, then plug it to your computer with the home button pressed. You will need to have iTunes installed on this computer. Keep the Home button pressed until you see the iTunes logo on the screen of your iPhone. After that on your computer you should see the iTunes window saying your iPhone needs to be restored to factory settings. Click on the restore button.

  • IPhone 6 Plus 16gb storage doubts?

Why is it sold as 16gb of storage if the actual, real storage is then displayed (on both iTunes and the iPhone itself) as only 11.7gb?
Where is the rest of the supposed storage? Is there a way to understand why it's this way?
I'm not talking about how much I use, I'm talking about the total hardware storage.
I bought a 16gb 'cause I've always only used about 12-13gb on my old 4S (64gb), so 64 was a waste of money in the end but now 32 isn't available anymore.
I thought 16 will be more than enough, even if the real storage is then only about 15 or so.
Leaving a couple gb out for iOS updates and stuff, should be no problem.
BUT 11.7! Now I'll have to delete some things and I don't think it's fair to pay for 16 and get 11...
Anyone have an idea? Is it only my phone in particular?

  • Why do I keep getting a storage full message after deleting most of my photo app, on 16gb iPhone6

    Hey,
I just purchased the new iPhone 6 16GB.upgrade jump T-mobile not paid in full $700.Nevertheless, why do I keeping getting a message about storage full? And it says...Go to setting and manage storage with iCloud. I have deleted most of the app, photo, and just about everything else, and still keep getting this message. It's almost as if I will be paying additional 3.99-19.99 a month to manage the icloud for apps that I already had. Perhaps this is the gimmicks to order the 64GB iPhone 6. In fact, the 64GB is offered as an upgrade to new or additional line customers. Come On give us a break for the loyal customers Geezh!!
Plus can't even upgrade software update to iOS8.1.1 because there is not enough storage. What sense does that make to even upgrade to the new iPhone 6???? Hurry up and fix this problem!

Purchasing iCloud storage will not help your issue. Also, if you want to upgrade, do it via iTunes rather than OTA - it doesn't require as much available storage to do it that way.
To check to see what is taking up so much of your storage, go to Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage, and you will see a list of the items on your device and the amount of storage they are taking up.
T-mobile's offer of the 64GB iPhone 6 to new or additional line customers has nothing to do with Apple. You need to take that up with T-mobile.
    Cheers,
    GB

  • Keep getting storage full message

    Hi.
I have an iPhone 5s, running iOS 8.3, upgraded a week or so ago.
This past weekend, I started getting "storage almost full" or "storage full" messages. I have deleted tons of stuff -- apps, photos, videos, etc - to free up space, but the storage keeps getting full. I can see that there should be a ton more space available than what it's saying. Some research told me that it might be a corruption in the storage space with the "other" taking over or something.
When I plug my phone into my computer, it at first showed 3 gbs free in iTunes, but the phone itself still showed 0 space available. And then suddenly iTunes showed that the "other" in storage made it full. Not enough space for a backup, and I didn't want to do a restore without a back up. I deleted a some more apps, turned it off and on, rebooted iTunes, etc, and was able to do a backup.
What's the best way to fix this? Go to the "genius bar"? Do a restore? I'm nervous about doing a restore.
In addition to all the above, the mail app won't open properly and keeps crashing, keeps having to download all the mail but then crashes. Now, the settings app also keeps crashing. What's going on?!
    Help!

Sorry to hear this happened to you. If your iPhone doesn't free up space after you delete stuff, then it has gotten too full and needs to be restored. If you're too nervous to do it yourself you can have someone at the Genius Bar do it for you.
You will most likely need to set it up as a new device, because restoring from a backup will likely cause the same problem to occur.

  • How do I delete music off of my iPhone to get more storage space?

I want to delete music off of my iPhone to free up storage space.  I want the music completely off and no iCloud download next to the music so I don't use data as well.

To delete you songs in iPod and not in iTunes library, you have to put iTunes Device sync to Manually Manage ticked as below,
the example, is for iPod Touch, but applicable to iPod Classic.
    To sync your content manually:
Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer and select your device in iTunes (below Devices)
Click the Summary button and select “Manually manage music and videos” (below Options).
    Select a category (below Library).
    Do any of the following:
To add items to your device, drag videos, playlists, artists, genres, and albums to your iPod, iPhone, or iPad (below Devices).
To delete a song or selection of songs from your device, select the song/s and press the Delete key.Removing a song from your device doesn’t delete it from your iTunes library.
Before you disconnect your device, click the Eject button .
    Have a nice day
