IPhone has 33 gig of 'Other' when viewed in iTunes. i have checked apps and the data used within them and can not find where all this space is being used up
anyone have ideas?

You have a corrupt iOS installation
Restore as new and add back up with expectation the corruption is in the backup somewhere
If that is the case then Restore as new and recreate

You can reduce the size to normal, which is about 1GB, by restoring the phone.

The iphone is not a storage/backup device. It simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.
Again, the photo sync is one way.

Not good. You can e-mail the photos from your iphone. You do not need to have phoe service for this. The iphone uses wi-fi. The photos will never be of the original quality, as they are reduced when synced to iphone.

I had the same problem (freezing iphone when trying to unlock) today.
1) I made a backup of my iphone using itunes.
2) Went to my service provider and made a sim swap. So, I think there was a problem with the nano simcard.
Problem solved.

Text messages, MMS messages, email, music catalog, operating system settings, safari cache, siri cache, Genius data (if enabled), game center data -- esentially everything on your phone that isn't explicitely listed in the bar chart at the bottom of iTunes on your computer.
Sometimes there is also data corruption on the phone that ends up in Other. To get rid if it try restoring the phone with iTunes. If that makes no difference the corruption is in your backup; restore again as a new phone, then add content back.

There's more and likely a software conflict in your phone. The Other contains the informaiton for your software. Restore your device in iTunes and set it up as new WITHOUT restoring a backup.

It goes by the Track # field, as seen in on a list in iTunes. So, make sure the Track # field is correctly entered for each song when you review the album on a list in iTunes. Also, make sure the Album field is entered identically for all the songs on the album.
You can edit those fields by doing a Get Info on a song, and going to the Info windows's Info tab,

so I have a 1 TB hard drive and I am trying to edit some stuff from my go pro and when looking to free up space on my hardrive it shows on about this mac that there is 453.97 gigs of other what could all this be? How could I go about deleating some of it?
Also when I dupdated to osx 10 the folder windows no longer show how much free space on the hard drive at the bottom like it use to which was verry handy is there any way that I could get that to show up agian?
