IPhone 6 in Thailand

I purchased the iPhone 6 for Verizon for use in the US but I will be traveling to Thailand for a couple of weeks.  My hope is to purchase a Thai / local pre-paid nano SIM card and use it in my iPhone 6.  From everything I've read I should be able to easily use a local carrier (even a GSM carrier) because the iPhone 6 from Verizon is "unlocked from the factory" - trouble is that I have also read that there are multiple versions of the Verizon iPhone 6 and not all versions will work.   Can anyone confirm that this will (or will not) work?
Thank you,
Bryan

    bryanparke,
We're glad you reached out to us so we can assist with your service questions while traveling. Our 4G LTE devices are unlocked to work with international SIM cards. All you have do is insert it and make sure CMDA is disabled in Settings>Cellular>Roaming.

    Hi Dude,
I ve seen all the threads from first to last even am gonna get a iphone 4s from Thailand. Would like to know which sim will be working fine in chennai as you all are using d phone for past many days???  Is it advisable to buy a phone from abroad.

Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.
    Thanks

  • Hi, ibought iphone 5 at thailand and i live at israel. the screen of the iphone not good and i have responsibility but at my company say that they can't help me what can i do to fix the iphone??

    help

Take the iPhone back to Thailand for service and possible
replacement. iPhone warranty is valid only in country of
original purchase. You must take the iPhone yourself or
send to friend/relative to take in to Apple Thailand. Apple
does not accept international shipments for repair nor will
Apple ship out of the country after repair.

i live in sri lanka (not thailand) im going to thailand if i bought iphone 6 can i used it in sri lanka without any problem. im going to buy from apple store is that locked to any thailand carrier or not? plzz

if it state it's locked to a carrier it's locked to a carrier

  • I bougt an Iphone 5 in Thailand, and It's locking button is broken how can i send it to guarantee

My iphone 5 locking button broken so i want to make it fixed . And i bought it thailand in 10.12.2012 and i am living in turkey so do ı have to send it thai or somewhere near turkey

You have to bring it to Thailand or send it to a friend/relative there to
take in for you. Apple Thailand will not accept international shipments
for repair/replacement nor will it ship out of the country after repair/replacement.
iPhone warranty is valid only in country of original purchase (EU is considered
    one country for this purpose).

  • Iphone 4 in Thailand--will it work?

Will the verizon iphone 4 work in thailand?  I've talked to three customer service reps and thus far the answer has been no, yes then no.  I just apped up my new phone in anticipation for my asia travel and was recently dismayed to find out my purchases won't work.  Can anyone confirm either way?

Information on coverage in Thailand is here:

It appears that part of Thailand has CDMA voice service
And note the rate, $1.99 per minute.
If you don't mind that, and are going to be in the part of Thailand without CDMA coverage, and if your trip is 21 days or less, you can get an international phone  loaned to you by Verizon.  It's free, you just pay for usage and you can keep your US phone number.
If you are there for a while, get a cheap unlocked GSM phone and get a local SIM when you arrive.
And we won't comment about doing research before buying,  most of the comparisons between the AT&T and Verizon iPhone mentioned the difference in international coverage!

  • Want to buy apple care for iphone 5 in thailand

I can't find it in thailand store

This question has little to do with the OP's question nor with the iPhone, the subject of this forum, and hence would have been better posted as a new topic in the iPad forum. Answering quickly, though,
    - iPads sold by authorized resellers in the US are not locked to a carrier, but you should not buy a CDMA (Verizon or Sprint) model. I don't know if "JR" is an authorized reseller; if they are not, then all bets are off.
    - AppleCare for an iPad covers two years from the date of purchase of the iPad, not three.
    - as long as you get the GSM model of iPad, not the Verizon/Sprint model, warranty should be valid in Israel assuming that there is authorized service and that the forth-generation iPad has been released there.
    Regards.

  • Buy iPhone 6 in Thailand but use it in Australia

Now, I live in Thailand ,and I would like to buy iPhone 6. However, I am going to immigrate to Australia on January 2015, so I worry about the warranty covering.

    richard177 wrote:
A laptop, iPod and an iphone are similar in that they are all portable.
They are not. There are 4-5 different iPhone  models. For example there are 4 iPhone 5s models, while there is ONE 13 inch MacBook air which is sold worldwide.
It was reasonable for me to assume that iPhones came with an international warranty, and it certainly unreasonable for Apple to exclude iPhones from the same coverages as their laptops and ipods.
Ok, so?  Whatever you feel or think is right or reasonable it is not going to alter reality.
AS I bought the phone in Australia i am covered by Australian consumer laws and as I mentioned above, a phone is portable.
As I said, the reality is you will not be able to get warranty service in Vietnam. Sue the Vietnamese if you feel you have a case.
The article was merely posted to demonstrate the philosophy behind Australian consumer laws, in that Apple's policies do not overide the consumer laws in Australia. ie people expect a phone to last 2 years at least, people take phones overseas.
And it is still irrelevant. The EU has had the same extension for years and it still does not make the warranty international.
What is it to you anyway? Are you an Apple beancounter?
No, just someone who is being pragmatic and realistic, something that you seem unable to do. The OP asked a question and it was answered correctly, and then followed up.
And what is this to YOU? Are you an ambulance chaser?
    Have a nice day.

  • Unlatch iPhone 4 in Thailand

    Dear Sir/Madam
I apologised for contacting you about my iPhone 4 problem
because I could not find any email to contact apple customer
    service for iPhone.
My problem is I bought iPhone 4 from my country, Thailand
and it was unlock phone which mean I can use it anywhere
or use any carrier around the world.
But, when I went to United Kingdom, my iPhone 4 got a problem
and I brought to Apple store in Southampton, the staff in store
tried to fix it. However, it cannot fix and he gave me the new iPhone 4.
This is the problem because I can use O2 carrier in United Kingdom
instantly when I got the new one, but when I came back to Thailand
and insert my DTAC simcard which is Thai carrier mobile phone service
provider, it cannot use anymore!! It is showing emergency call and
I cannot do anything, the staff in Thai told me that my iPhone is locked.
So, could you please unlock my iPhone 4 because I really need to use it.
Thank you very much for your help.
My iPhone 4 detail: (this is the new phone from warranty)
    Model: MC605B
    Model Firmware: 03.10.01
    Best regards,

This is a user-to-user tech support site, not Apple customer service.  No one here can help.
Apple does not unlock carrier locked iPhones.  Only the carrier it's locked to can do this.  Only O2 can unlock your phone - contact them.
Also, as you found out, the iPhone warranty is valid only in the country of sale.  You're lucky to have received any service on your Thai phone in the UK.

  • Why can't i use my iphone 5 in Thailand?

    Hi everyone,
I just went into my service provider and put a sim in my iphone 5, it came up with no service. I bought my phone online from the apple store and it wasn't part of a contract or anything which would cause it to be 'locked'. I previously had a iphone 4s and that worked fine. Bought that one exactly the same way as the 5. I have giffgaff while in the uk and that works fine. How come i can't use a Thai sim card? is it to do with my phone being locked or is it the carrier?
    Thanks guys

Did you buy your iPhone without contract or unlocked - they are
not the same thing even though the price is generally the same.
Sounds like your iPhone is locked to a wireless carrier. You will have
to contact that carrier to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.

  • How to use SoftBank' s iPhone 4S @Thailand

My wife can not use my iPhone 4S in Thailand.
How to unlock my iPhone to use in Thailand.
I do not need Jailbreak or Gevey sim.
I think apple support can do. Please let me know about that.

Sorry, but Softbank Japan will not unlock an iPhone for any reason, and as Felipe said Apple cannot unlock an iPhone without the carrier's authorization. The only thing you can do is sell the iPhone to someone in Japan and buy a new iPhone in Thailand.
