IPhone 6 (iOS 8.1) hot and is draining battery, even on standby.

Greetings Everyone,
I'm having a really bad time here with my iPhone 6 4.7" iOS 8.1 device. It all started a few days ago, i was noticing that only at 100% the battery seemed to be just fine, but once it dropped just 1% of the 100% it would drain to 0% in 10 hours standby time. I thought that was kinda odd, so i decided to completely drain my battery till my device turned off to see if it would help to charge from absolute 0. That didn't fix the problem either, i went online and searched around the web for what might cause high battery drains on the device, and i found that restoring the device as a new device should fix many problems, since many apps for the new iOS seemed to drain the battery quite quick due to some bugs or something. So i did that but with no luck. I tried to turn off all background updates, disable parallels effect and what not, and still the battery drained like a maniac EVEN on standby.
I went on and researched some more, i then came across one of the new features iOS 8 supplied, that is the battery usage feature where you can see your battery usage for each individual app as well as up-time on standby and in use. And this is when i discovered something really odd, even after recovering my phone, setting everything to stock, turning off all connections (AirPlane mode) and turned off effects (parallels) which could cause a slight battery drain, and putting the device on standby - both the standby and usage time showed the same amount of usage of 9 hours and 47 minutes. And yes to no surprise my phone is getting really hot, i can feel it through my pants, heating up my thigh.
I have tried restoring it through DFU mode, through iTunes and i'm pretty much out of ideas on how to solve this problem. Anyone has any idea on what might be causing this and how to fix it? Or should i just go to the store and hope for them to replace my device? :-)

I had the same problem. I realized that it had everything to do with my calendar app. My iCalendar was having a difficult time fetching information from my Outlook and Yahoo Calendar. Causing my battery percentage to decline at a very rapid rate. (50% in a 4 hour time frame). I resolved the  problem by going into my Settings >" Messaging , Contact , Calendar" Setting > Clicking on one of my selected Accounts ( Outlook or Yahoo) and turning off the Calendar Sync. The problem seemed to go away after doing this. Now I'm only using 4% battery life in a 4 hour time frame in StandBy Mode. Well I Can only hope that this will help resolve the battery drainage issue. Good Luck ....

  • My iPhone 5 gets really hot and eats up battery with cellular turned on. Is this normal?

The battery just went from a full charge to 40% in 3 hours and all I've done's go on instagram, some light browsing and texting. I just updated to 6.1.3, can't tell if it's the firmware cause I just got my data plan and started leaving cellular turned on. There's no LTE here or anything if that changes anything.

I had same issue, apple give me a new phone, they say it might be software problem, but the 2nd phone has fast drain too, I took it to apple , they restored my phone as new, and iCloud backed up my contact. I thought about the whole thing, I used to sync it to my window, but this time I synced it with my Mac. 87% at 3:30pm. I think that window has bugs. It is not my iPhone 5's problem. After all those stressful days.

  • HTC one M8 keeps getting hot and quickly draining battery, anyone else experienced this?

every couple of days my HTC one M8 gets hot to the touch and I noticed the batter display may show as high as 90% but it will die with in 5 minutes,  one time i restarted it and it showed 30% battery left.  i'm thinking the battery is already going bad even though the phone is only a  few months old, any other ideas?  I did check and nothing is running in the back ground.  I stopped playing any games after it did it once and it's done it several time since so don't think its a game / app issue.    thanks!

        Hello xonnia!
I'm so sorry to learn of these issues with your device. Let's take a closer look into this OK? How long has this been going on? When the device gets hot, is it being used or is it in standby mode? If this is happening when the device is not being used, to be on the safe side, please take the device to the nearest corporate store location. You can find one here: http://vz.to/1fbwemQ

Hello to all my readers.I am still using my Apple G4 1.25 Ghz MDD running Leopard 10.5.8 with iTunes 10.6.3 installed. Can I use an Phone 4s with iOS 5 with this set up? I have read the iPhone iOS 5 user guide and it appears that I can but is anybody actually doing it ? My current phone is a £10 Nokia and I've neither wish nor cash to spend more than a grand upgrading to an intel based machine (at the moment) ! Regards to you all.

If you can find an iPhone running iOS5 and those are the specs for iOS5, there is no reason it should not work.
If you want a more current version of iOS or a more current device, a Windows computer is always an option at significantly less cost.
Granted, there is no requirement to have a computer to use an iPhone.

  • IPhone 5 getting really hot and battery charge not lasting very long at all??

iPhone 5 getting really hot and battery charge not lasting very long at all??

Try some of these to save battery time:
Settings>Notifications>[Turn off any notifications you don't need]
Settings>General>Software Update (Make sure you're up to date)
Settings>Brightness & Wallpaper> Auto-Brightness on (And that your brightness is not to the max)
    Settings>Privacy>Location Services>Turn off/Stop apps from using it
    Settings>Bluetooth>Off
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Fetch New Data>Manually
Settings>Wi-Fi> Off (When you don't need internet when you're out and about)
    To stop overheating, note these:
    Operating Temperatures: 0° to 35° C (32° to 95° F)
    Non-Operating Temperatures: -20° to 45° C (-4° to 113° F)
    Hope this helps!

my iphone 5 has been destroyed and wont work or even charge but i was wondering how i could get the pictures and videos off of it to my iphone 4?

Connect the 5 to a computer and see if it is recognized. If so copy the pictures from phone. If not, you are out of luck.

  • After Updating the iOS 7.04 on my iPhone 4s drain battery quickly on standby mode & also doesn't respond volume up button, why?

After Updating the iOS 7.04 on my iPhone 4S drain battery quickly even on standby mode & also doesn't respond volume up button, why?

My battery problem woes continues to persist.  Yesterday, I had about 85-90% battery life in the morning.  A couple hours later when I looked at the phone it was down to 65%.  At that point, I shut off wi-fi, bluetooth, and background app refresh.  I received one call shortly after that.  The call lasted about two minutes.  My battery was now down to 40%.  Another hour later, down to 16%!  Here's the kicker:  I plugged in the phone to a charger and it jumped to 65% in a matter of minutes.  I unplugged the phone and within a couple of hours it was back down to around 30%.  I plugged it in again and within 10 minutes it was up to 75%.
At first glance it looks very much like a hardware issue.  However, I never had this problem until I upgraded to 7.0.4.  Also, the above battery roller coaster ride isn't a constant.  That is, it seems that only sometimes this happens.  So...I'm thinking it's either an app running in the background eating up juice (though I have Background App Referesh turned off) or the iOS is buggy.

  • IPhone iOS 4.3.4 and 4.3.5 matter

My itune cannot sync / backup data from my iphone since the iOS of the iphone upgraded from 4.3.3 to 4.3.4 and 4.3.5.
    Anyone can help??? please.
(i am using PC and itune 10, iphone iOS 4.3.5 now)

    Thanks for your acknowledgement.
What I usually do is plug the iPhone via USB to my PC, iTune will atomatically pop up and take 5steps for "backup" my iPhone before I can manage the apps / photos / musics etc. The "backup" process is to be done within a few mintues.
However, after upgrading the iOS of my iPhone to 4.3.4,
    1. A verification on my iPhone carried out. It takes over 30mins to finish the process
    2. The "backup" process could not be initiated
    3. Due to 2., I cannot modify the apps for my iPhone via iTune
    4. Updates to 4.3.5 was not allowed since "backup" could not be carried out.
So, as suggested by my friend, I restore my iPhone to default and install iOS 4.3.5. And sync the "backup" record of 24/7 onto the iPhone.
I thought that the "Backup" matter can be solved after this action and the upgrade to 4.3.5, however, such "backup" process is still not permitted. The "status bar" keeps running without having any progress.
What should I do for fixing this problem?
I have already lost a few valuable photos taken by my iPhone since 25/7 till now....

  • My iPhone is getting extremely HOT and losing battery charge by 50% in one hour.

my phone is getting too hot and in an hour or so it will loose the battery life and will turn off ..
i just had a word with the apple care they were like you can get the phone replaced from the country were you bought from, as such i bought this phone from Dubai and now they are like it cant be replaced in india..
    its really frustrating

Where you are sounds far hotter than anyplace I would like to be...in any case, here is some info on acceptable temperatures and other temperature related info..
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2101
    from this article...
Operate iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (4th generation) in a place where the temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might temporarily shorten battery life or cause the device to temporarily stop working properly.
Store the device in a place where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave the device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.
    are you within this range?

  • Since iphone 5 6.1.3 upgrade mine has been running hot and reduced the battery life. Before I was getting 2days out of it. Now it's half a day ... No new apps and I've been closing down fully all apps. I think something is definitely up with 6.1.3

Since iphone5 6.1.3 upgrade mine has been running hot and totally reduced the battery life. Before I was getting 2days out of it. Now it's half a day ... No new apps and I've been closing down fully all apps. I think something is definitely up with 6.1.3
Are there many others experiencing this?

The number of apps that run in the background are very few and far between. An app being in the recently used apps bar or dock means just that for the most part - the app was recently used only and is not running.
Have you powered your iPhone off and on and/or tried a reset which is similar to a computer restart since the update was installed?
Are you accessing an Exchange account with the Mail app on your iPhone?
