IPhone 6 is stuck in recovery after trying to restore.

I am using an iPhone 6 and had initially thought the not connecting to iTunes issue was local as the Service site was saying everything was working so I have started to restore and update my iPhone but this is now stuck in recovery mode and is returning error 6 and failing to install the update. Could this be related to the service issues that Apple is currently having?

Unplug the iPhone from the computer. Plug it in again after a few seconds and let iTunes detect the phone and give the warning that it is in recovery. Restore it again.
The first time I tried to upgrade my 5S I had the same problem. It is because iTunes took to long to extract the software so the phone disconnected. The second  time, the extraction was much faster and it completed.

  • IPhone 5s is stuck in recovery mode, trying to reset

I connected my phone to update to iOS 8 and iTunes recognized my phone in recovery mode. I'm ok with that. iTunes started extracting the software and once it was done, it then said it couldn't find an iPhone, even though it hadn't been disconnected. Not sure what's up but my phone is stuck.

Instantly goes to Recovery. I Find that part strange. Any ideas? Please help, just got this iphone for christmas, if my mom finds out im dead!

Hi everyone. I have some more details. The iPhone does not show in iTunes, iRecovery, or any other programs.

  • IPhone 4 update - stuck in recovery mode following unsuccessful restore.

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone can help me with my 'problem'?!
I have recently tried to download the latest available software update for my iPhone 4 and unfortunately my laptop power cable was disconnected before the update had completed. As a result I was unable to switch on my iPhone, so I immediately restarted my laptop and connected my iPhone in order to recommence the update. However, when I connected the device to my laptop I found that my iPhone was no longer recognized by my iTunes and a pop up box stating that: 'iTunes had detected an iPhone in recovery mode' and that the phone 'had to be restored' had appeared.
As I was unable to turn on my iPhone and, by this time, the iPhone was stuck constantly advising me to connect to iTunes, I decided to restore the phone as advised. I clicked the OK button and then the restore button at which point the error message stating the phone could not be updated due to 'unknown error 1604'. After several attempts I managed to get the phone to start and complete the restore process. Upon completion the phone is still not recognized and still stuck constantly telling me to connect to iTunes. I am able to start and complete the restore process again without error 1604 but at the end of the restore the problem persists.
Has anybody had the same or similar issue??
    Any assistance will be appreciated.
    Cheers

Apple recommends to Restore, get Error 1604 leave iPhone connected, Quit iTunes, Restart iTunes, Restore again, fixed. Error 1604 try a different USB port or different computer. Some say Error 1604 is due to bad IPSW file, delete IPSW from computer, and install new file with iTunes or manually.

  • My iPhone 4 is stuck in recovery and won't restore. Should I take it to Verizon or Apple Store?

Out of nowhere my iPhone wouldn't turn on. I plugged it into iTunes to try to restore it but kept getting the message, "The iPhone 'iPhone' can't be restored. An unknown error occured (2001 or 2006)."
When I try to restore it now, I get the message "Device not elgible for requested build."
I have tried so many different options to try to fix it, but nothing has worked.
Should I take my iPhone to Verizon Wireless, my provider, or to the Apple Store?
And is there anything that either of them could do?

First be sure you are running the latest version of iTunes (10.7).  If not, update iTunes and try restoring again.  If you are, make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it.

    Hello Andyoneill9,
It sounds like you are trying to restore your phone but keep getting an errror message 3194. I want to recommend the troubleshooting steps from this article named:
Error 3194 or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4451
    Resolution
Important: If you see one of these messages and need help updating or restoring your iOS device, Install the latest version of iTunes and try to update or restore again. After that, follow these steps if you need more help.
    Check your "hosts" file
After you've updated iTunes to the latest version, you can check the hosts file to be sure your computer can contact the update server. Use the numbered steps below if you’re on a Mac.
If you’re using a Windows computer, follow steps in this Microsoft support article, noting that resetting the hosts file will affect software services that rely on hosts file redirects. If you're using Windows on a business computer, consult your IT department to be sure applications will still work correctly after resetting the hosts file.
In the Finder, choose Applications > Utilities.
    Open Terminal.
Enter this command and then press Return:
    sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Enter the password you use to sign in to your computer and press Return. You won't see text appear in the Terminal window when you enter the password. Make sure you use a nonblank administrator password.
Terminal will display the hosts file. Navigate using the arrow keys and look for an entry containing “gs.apple.com”.
Add the # symbol and a space ("# ") to the beginning of the gs.apple.com entry.
Press Control-O to save the file. Then, press Enter when prompted for the filename and Control-X to exit the editor.
    Restart your computer.
Try to update or restore your iOS device again.
This is the first troublehsooting step to try, so there are additional things to try if needed you need them.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • My iphone 3gs is stuck in recovery mode. i have tried to restore using itunes but it ends with a message saying there was an error and couldnt be restored

hi  desperately need help. my iphone 3gs is stuck in recovery mode... when i try and do the restore via itunes it goes through the motions but when it gets to the end it tells me there was an error and it couldnt be restored...  originally it was an ex contract phone that i had opened to orange from vodafone.. it was fine until i tried to do the ios 6 update

There is a way to get it recovered from the so called DFU mode. Try to restart the phone while holding the home and power button at the same time. Then try to connect it to iTunes and do the same again. If you try that again till it works you should be able to use your iPhone as before.
