Iphone 6 not adding new songs in playlists

Hello,
I've just tried updating my 128gb iphone 6 for the first time since setting it up last week, and noticed that the couple of new albums I'd added to a playlist over the week to transfer over during the update weren't added.
Due to the size of my library (c.40,000 tracks), I manage everything through playlists - I currently have 400 lists on the phone, to manage the 7,000+ songs I want on there. I update these playlists regularly - add a song or two, remove a song or two, etc, over the weeks - and the changes are usually passed over on the update, using the 'Sync selected playlists' option. This has worked for years and I've never had a problem, until this. (I'm pretty sure it'll sort itself out if i were to unsync all music then re-add it all, but that's fairly time consuming and I'm away from home at the minute, so won't be able to do that every time I just want to add a track or two to the phone the chances I do get to get to the computer).
I can't see anything I'm doing differently from the last phone and it's driving me mad - all I want is these tracks added for the drive to work.

I acquired my iPhone 6 about a month ago and had no problem working and connected to my Yahoo! and Gmail email accounts. However, since Monday, no new mail is loading for my Yahoo! account. It had been working up until then. My Gmail account is totally fine.
I tried fiddling with the setting, deleting my Yahoo! account and re-adding it, and checking the password. Nothing has worked so far.
This is a known issue with the Yahoo email account, which is notoriously bad.
You've done most of the troubleshooting for it - suggest you try using the Yahoo email app.

  • Nano not adding new songs even with free space

I have my nano automatically updating only a few of my playlist on itunes. Today however, I encountered a problem, for some reason even though itunes shows that I have 743 MB free, I am unable to update my nano, even when just adding one song to the playlist. I am able to manual update though, anyone have a solution, I would love to be able to still use the itunes playlist.

same problems over here.... 4gb model, but won't add songs even though i have ~1.81gb free. what the heck?

  • My IPod nano 6 connects to my library but will not receive new music and playlists

My ipod 6th generation will not receive new songs and playlists from my library on my PC. My ipod shows up in the itunes library when I connect it. It syncs when it is plugged in to computer but the sync is very short. I changed to a new computer back in September 2013. My old one crashed.  I have synced my ipad 2 and my iPhone 4S to itunes library on the new computer.  All these devices show up in the "manage my devices" list except my ipod 6th generation. There is no "add device" to this itunes account, only an option to deauthorize the computer, the iPhone or the ipad.
The ipod downloaded songs that I added to my computer library on my new computer, but will not add new purchased songs nor library playlists.
My computer is shared with my husband. His user account on the same computer shows up in my "manage devices" section of my itunes account. He doesn't use it. I thought I had to add my itunes on his part of the computer because his is the "main user".
I'm not sure what to do.  Should I take my computer, iPhone, ipad and nano to an appointment at the Genius Bar at the Apple Store?  Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I kept working at this after posting. On the sync page for the ipod on itunes library I chose to remove the iPods association with my old computer. It erased all the old content from the old computer and then put all my checked songs from the new computer on my iPod nano.

I set up my iphone with my laptop but now its broken is there anyway of adding new song using anpther laptop/desktop computer without erasing everything currently on my phone? I have no access to my old computer and the songs on it are from cds not itunes purchases
    Please help!!

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.

    Hey Etti101,
I'd start off your troubleshooting process by deleting and redownloading the songs:
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
Download your previously purchased song from this list.

  • Ipod will not update new songs from itunes

My ipod will not update new songs from itunes. I've purchased several songs from the music store, updated my playlists and as added some from my CD collection and they are not transfering from my library to my ipod.
I've tried numerous configurations under the preferences - ipod menue but still can't get them to transfer.
One error I occasionally get is "ipod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the itunes music library"
There is plenty of room on my ipod so I can't figure out why. It almost seems as if it is trying to copy all of my songs not just the new ones because all songs in my librbary are checked.

    Thank you for responding.
Doesn't it have to be on either manual or auto update? What other option is there?
I will try downloading latest updates.
I know it will work if I reset it (have done it a few times already). I just hate having to restore factory settings everytime I want to put a new song onthe ipod.

  • Drag and drop new songs to playlist in iTunes 11

In iTunes 10 and below we were always able to add new songs to iTunes from Finder by just dragging and dropping into any playlist and it would automatically show up.
In iTunes 11, dragging and dropping new songs to a playlist from outside iTunes adds the songs but only into the "Songs" view. We have to take an extra step to select all the songs from the "Songs" list and put them onto each playlist. This is HORRIBLE and counter-productive since I have over 200 playlists and it takes much longer to add new songs.
Is there a way to have the songs STAY in the playlist without having to drag them from the "Songs" section? I love the new interface but this is just stupid. If I'm dragging songs onto the playlist I expect them to stay there, not require me to leave the playlist and find them in my library and come back to add it to the playlist. UGH.

I did activate the Sidebar, but even when I have my playlist selected via the Sidebar adding songs from Finder doesn't show up in the playlist. I have so scroll all the way up to the top and find what I just imported in the main Music section where it shows my entire library. Then from there I drag the newly imported songs to the playlist I wanted.
Sorry for the confusing description, It's probably much easier to show in person or something. But previously when I added new songs into a playlist the songs will automatically show up on the Playlist without me having to go to Music and find it in my entire library.

  • IPhone not recognizing my songs as an album

    Hello,
I recently purchased an album (physical copy, not digitally) and have successfully put the songs onto my iTunes and from there to my iPhone 5. However, for some reason, on the music app on my phone, when I go to the "Artists" category, the album will not show up. It's weird because last time I bought an album from the same artist it was added to the "Artist" category with no problem. For example: when I purchased the Marshall Mathers LP 2 I put the songs on the disc to iTunes, then my iphone, so under artists it showed Eminem 2 albums 21 songs (The second album is the 5 bonus tracks). I recently purchased the first LP and did the same thing but now when I go under Artists, it still says Eminem 2 albums 21 songs but on my iTunes it says that I have 39 songs. I should state that what I did differently this time was that I finally changed my settings to automatically sync my iPhone to whatever new songs my iTunes had that my phone didn't. With past albums I've just done it manually. So maybe it just transferred it as separate tracks? How can I group it so it shows up as the third album on my iPhone? I feel like it is so easy but I just don't know how to go about doing so. Any help would be great, thanks.

Thank you Jason. Because it is my own Wi-Fi network, it doesn't give me an option to renew the lease. I am using WEP, which previously had not been a problem.
Thank you, as well, rkkeller. I was able to get it to accept my password when I used the ascii format. I'm hesitant to disconnect my WEP password, as while I do live in a neighborhood, I can easily access my neighbor's unprotected wi-fi networks. My Mac expert suggested that I keep it on the password.
Thank you both for your help!

  • Can't drag new song into playlist

I just purchased a song and attempted to drag it from the "Recently Purchased" column to my "Christmas" playlist. I get a warning that says only iCloud songs can be put in iCloud playlists and the song will only be available on the computer if I proceed...but this IS an iCloud song. The button I am apparently supposed to select says "Remove Playlist." I'm pretty sure I don't want to do that.
I keep reading negative comments on forums about the iCloud and I have to say, it's been nothing but trouble for me so far. Can I simply remove it (without disrupting my library) and just take the $25 loss? It's not worth the hassle.

    Just bought a new ipod
Where did you find a new 4G iPod?
all of the songs in the ipod show up as light gray on my computer screen
Because the iPod is set to Auto update.
I copied one song from cd, made new playlist of this song,
You don't have to put song into a playlist to put them onto the iPod. Playlists are an easy way to arrange music and select certain tracks.
Open iTunes prefs -> iPod. Set it to Auto update ALL songs and playlists.
Any new songs and playlists will go onto the iPod when you plug it in.

  • New songs and playlists won't sync to iPod since 8.0.2

I have an 80gb iPod classic. I have made numerous failed attempts to sync new songs and playlists since downloading this latest 8.0.2 version of iTunes.
When I plug in my iPod it shows up in iTunes, when I sync it iTunes shows a progress bar, then it tells me that the sync is complete and I disconnect my iPod when prompted. However, when I attempt to locate the song and/or playlist on my iPod, they are no where to be found, but I can still locate them on iTunes. I have roughly 10gb of files on the iPod, so I don't have any issues with available memory.
    +Somebody please help!!!+

Have you tried clicking on the ipods name then go to movies and click sync movies and do the same with the playlists and it should work (:

  • Can not sync new songs, when I transferred info from computers took identity of old computer and now I have 2 identities on 1 computer

I can not sync new songs on new computer.  When I transferred info from the old computer to the new one it also took the identity from the old computer
so it says I can not do anything because I currently have 2 identities.

If you have successfully transferred your iTunes library from your old computer to your new one, then go ahead and restore the Nano to factory settings in iTunes on your new PC.  This process will deassociate the iPod with the computer and allow it to start syncing with the new one.

  • With iOS8.1 I can no longer sync MAC iTunes playlists to my iPhone. Purchased new song with iTunes and it is on my MAC but will not update to iPhone when I sync!

With iOS8.1 I can no longer sync my iTunes MAC playlists to my iPhone!  I purchased a song on Itunes store and put it into a playlist on my MAC.  When I sync (as usual) with my iPhone, the playlist no longer updates to include the new song (i.e., playlist stuck at 16 not 17 songs)... yes, all devices are authorized... If I turn on HOME SHARING it will work, but the moment you disconnect, everything goes away... What is APPLE doing?

From my post on what seems like the same issue (found here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/21087892#21087892)
    Take the following steps:
    1) while connected to wifi, toggle off then back on the Show All Music and iTunes Match options shown in my original post. Important: I did this step before, but wasn't connected to wifi, and my music disappeared. Subsequently, I connected to wifi and turned off and then back on those options and everything came back though it was grayed out and my only option was to download music.
    2) To get streaming over cellular back, go into Settings>General>Cellular and scroll down to the "Use Cellular Data for:" options and make sure the iTunes option is set to 'On'
The above steps will bring back the streaming capability which seemed to go away when you update to 6.1. It didn't ACTUALLY go away, but something about the update toggled off the iTunes option in step 2 above.
I did a final test by turning off wifi, opening Music app and selecting a song. It played successfully without downloading! Crossing my fingers, but I think I'm good to go!
    Hope this helps!

  • IPod playlists do not display new songs added alphabetically

I find that if I add new songs to my iTunes and then add them to an existing playlist in my iPod, the new songs are displayed alphabetically by artist in iTunes (the way I prefer it), but when I disconnect the iPod and explore the playlist on the iPod the new songs have been added at the end of the listed songs in the playlist - not alphabetically... this is driving me crazy. To play a new song I then have to scroll not to the artist where he/she is listed alphabetically in the playlist, but all the way to the end, where a random collection of songs have by now accumulated. (I know most people create their playlists to play songs in a specific order, not by artist, but I have my iPod permanently on shuffle, so I prefer being able to find a song/artist easily)
The only solution I have found is to restore the iPod to factory settings, deleting everything in the process, and then adding all the content to the iPod from scratch, after which both the old and the new songs are listed alphabetically by artist. This is just way too cumbersome - I'm sure there is probably a very simple setting somewhere ("sort playlist by artist"?), I just can't find it. I have tried sorting the playlist by artist on the iPod itself while connected to iTunes and then syncing - no use.
I have read the iPod nano user guide, but found no help...

Thanks for the link - it didn't help for my specific problem, but I learned some other useful things! After I read it I tried everything I had tried previously, and this time it actually worked. This is probably a part of the Great Continued Computer Mystery... why something functions one day and doesn't the next.

  • I added new songs in itunes and sync'd to ipod but the playlists that were changed are now in the wrong location. e.g. "Instrumental" playlist is now between letters M and N on my ipod, but in right location in itunes.  How do I fix this?

Also, I can no longer find my "Recently Added" playlist.  I have searched every title in my playlists and its no longer there.  It's really frustrating because now if I want to listen to a new playlist that I've added new music to I have to really search for it.  Please help!  Thank you!

This worked. Yesterday after I logged out - I continued to try to figure it out, and came up with the same solution. I made a smart playlist with both types.
However, I had tried to drop those into the green purchased file yesterday and it would not accept them. Today it works.
Guess it is like a car. It makes a noise, and when you take it to the dealer, it stops making that noise.
I went and looked at all of the songs I had purchased. Some of the more recent songs say Protected. The first five I purchased just say "AAC audio file" but if you look at them in their file, they have the little lock icon on them, as the purchased and protected ones do.. So I dunno... ??
    Thanks for the help.
