Iphone 6 paint chip beside headphone jack

After plugging in my headphones into my iphone 6 for the first time, I realized that the paint work beside the headphone jack hole suffered a small chip. Thinking back when I was using the previous versions of iphone, it was designed in a way that an isolated ring was there in place to prevent the headphone plug from snapping onto the phone's body directly while plugging in. Thus, I am quite disappointed that apple actually do away with this design feature which reduces the wear and tear, eventually the paint chip will be more obvious.

If the device is under warranty and the issue is not the result of user inflicted damage (i.e. dropping the device or water damage), Apple will likely replace it.  Keep in mind that what anyone says here has no bearing as we are not Apple employees, but merely users like yourself sharing our experience and knowledge.

  • Black iphone wearing away around headphone jack

wondering if anyone else has an issue with the black color wearing away at around the headphone jack.  i'm not doing anything extra ordinary with the phone, normal use for what i've always done.  but there's a chippy silver ring around the headphone jack now.  nothing that effects the function of the phone and purely cosmetic but annoying nonetheless for a pricy phone...

I had this problem myself. Except the cracks went from the headjack out. Over time it gets longer and another crack showed up last week. I went into the Apple store yesterday and they replaced it. Although they kept saying that I must of dropped it to cause that. It showed up all by itself without being dropped. I had planned on letting it go but when I saw it was getting longer over time I decided better safe then sorry.

  • IPhone 5, splitter in headphone jack...

I have a use for listening to audio input in "real time."  Excuse my ignorance, but would using a 3.5 mm "splitter" in the headphone jack with one cord going to an external microphone (such as the Edutige i-Microphone) while the other cord going to earbuds or external speaker?  I realize that feedback may be a problem, but theoretically, could it work?
    Thank you!

    in theorey yes
your problem is that 3.5mm minijack is a std for audio out only everybody handle how the mic and remote control buttons operate some use a carrier frequency some use a 3 ring on the connected places in various levels on the plug
you can always use a splitter for output to several soures I do that with my imac to use both external speakers for music and headset for when I've been told several times to be quiet
but you have to be lukcy to find a splitter which is 100% apple compatible in terms of mic and remote support

  • How to silence ring through headphone jack.

I have occasionally played music from my iPhone out through the headphone jack and through our in-house audio system at church. Which usually is great. However, if I get a phone call while the song is playing from iTunes, the ring comes through the system, even though I've got the phone silenced. Any idea whether this is even possible to correct? Obviously, having a phone start ringing through the PA during the middle of a worship song is pretty annoying.

Put the phone in airplane mode. That will turn off all iPhone radios. You can still use the ipod function in airplane mode.

  • IPhone 6 Plus Paint Chip

The top of my phone has a lot of paint chipped from it. Apple said they won't replace it, so is there any alternative to repainting it?

The paint is chipping off by my headphone jack and I've been extremely careful with my phone.  The thing that bothers me is the paint is obviously defective and it's going to lower my trade in value.  It's unfortunate that apple won't remedy an issue they've obviously created by not using materials that will stand up to day to day use of headphones.

  • IPhone 4 headphone jack not working right.

So the headphone jack in my iPhone 4 i don't think is working properly. The right headphone does not put as much sound out as the left. I'm not sure why it was working perfectly just yesterday. I haven't dropped it or got water in it or anything. I tried plugging it in and unplugging it a few times, i reset my phone, turned it off then on and nothing seems to be working. Its not on silent and the volume thing is centered. Idk what could e happening. Help!!!

I would test the headset in another device such as a computer
and test another 3.5mm minijack headset in the phone to tell if it's the phone or headset

  • My iPhone 5 is suddenly having audio issues through the headphone jack.

So this is a strange situation, and I'll try to explain in depth so that someone might be able to suggest a solution. As reference, I have an iPhone 5 that I purchased in late-February. I've had every other model of iPhone except for the first iPhone, so I am pretty familiar with the device. I used to be on AT&T, and switched to Verizon when I upgraded to the iPhone 5.
Two days ago, I was on a six hour road-trip, and I'd been playing my music like normal through my car's auxillary cable. After stopping for lunch, I went to plug my music again, but once the music started to play, I realized that only the drums were playing at normal levels while the vocals were very, very soft. I switched through a few different songs, and realized that all the songs were being played at different levels; sometimes the backup vocals were normal levels while the instrumentation and lead vocals were quiet, or vice versa. I decided to plug my iPhone in to charge, and when I did this, the audio levels were all normal. However, the iPhone was NOT charging. I removed the charger, and the audio went back to being weak and distorted. I went back and forth at this for a bit, trying to figure out what was going on.
Since then and after some testing, I realize that my iPhone will now only charge anywhere EXCEPT in the car charger (I simply use my USB cable that came with my iPhone and plug it into the power adapter I have in the car). This morning, I tested the audio in my home speaker system, and I had the same audio issues. Only half the song's tracks would be at normal audio levels, while the other half would be at a very quiet, almost nonexistent level. I tried plugging my charger into the phone to see if that'd make a difference, but instead of the audio going back to normal like it does in the car, the music stopped and there was just crackling and very noisy distortion sounds.
I'm super confused and not sure what to do. This has never happened to me with any of my iPhones. I am updating my software right now, and am hoping that that may help somehow. Otherwise, I'm at a loss. Any suggestions as to what I should do would be greatly appreciated!

Do the new iMacs have digital audio out through the headphone jack?
    Yes.

  • Broken Iphone 3g Headphone Jack

Recently my headphone jack no longer works properly. When ever I put in headphones it sounds as though the connections aren't being properly made. Also the silver lining at the top of the jack has gone away. This happened through no fault of my own and has not even been a month since the warranty ended. This is my second iPhone due to accidental damage to the first. Is there anything I can do because it is completely ridiculous to pay 200$ to have it repaired when the warranty has only JUST ended, and it's not even a main/expensive component.
I've read some other post stating to use a pin to move the contacts inward, has anyone tried and had success doing this? Thanks in advanced.

Moving pins in the jack worked on my laptop.
But it was done at the store with tech using non conductive tool.
I was quite surprised it worked. I didn't have any crisis moment of tripping to cause the issue.
Right out of the box, the jack was bad. Headset plug would not insert all the way.
I'm not sure if some male jack ends are slightly different, but it seems to me that's when it happened between 2 headsets.

  • I have a rock stuck in my headphone jack, on my iPhone, does anyone have some tips on how to get it out?

I have a rock stuck in my iPhone headphone jack, does anyone know how to get it back, please, help me.

Maybe a fine nail or needle since the opening is so small. I, too, do not see how anything could get in the port.

  • Why does the iphone have such a small headphone jack!?

The headphone jack on the iphone is not wide enough for any of my non apple headphones to fit. in fact the official apple cable i have for the ipod video does not even fit... this does not make much sense to me.
also, on a side note, not being able to manually manage songs in itunes is very lame.

    Yeah, slight bummer..
I have a pair of Shure E2c's that wouldn't fit until i took out the ol' razor and carefully trimmed the rubber back about a 1/4" so they would fit. If you can do this without destroying the integrity of the headphone, give it a shot. Or you could purchase an adaptor that works just as well..
I chose the cheap way out.. I already spent $600 for the phone and $100 on the headphones, so I didn't want to spend another $10 for an adaptor.
As far as manually managing music, I really don't see what the big deal is. I created playlists that I want synced and if I want to change something, I simply change it within the playlist and resync.. Does the same.. Don't see a real advantage to manually managing. That's just me though.

  • Does anyone else notice the light from the headphone jack on their white iPhone 4?

I noticed that whenever i turn on my lockscreen or whenever my iphone's screen is on, you can see light from the audio headphone jack. Anyone else have this problem? ( Iphone 4 white)

Clarification, iPhoneMac is correct. There is light noticible at the bottom of the Headphone Jack.
However, when I responded, I checked the 6 iPhone 4 here and none of them showed this in lit room normal usage. In Dark Room especially with the Screen Brightness turned up you can see a bit of light (glow) at the very bottom of the Jack, if you look right down the barrel.

  • I have just replaced the headphone jack, volume button and mute switch ribbon in my sister's iphone

As you see I replaced the ribbon on my sister's iphone. The volume buttons and mute switch dont work while the headphone jack works perfectly. Also it cannot find any wifi networks. Anyone having the same problem? This iphone has not been restored since it was bought. Or should she update to iOS7 maybe that'll help?
    Thanks

Thanks but thats not gonna happen. Way too expensive, the company I bought the replacement off send me another one maybe its the ribbon. Im going to restore it first though.

  • Is the headphone jack flush on the new iphone 3gs?

i was just curious if they left the headphone jack flush like the iphone 3g?

Yes .. big improvement over my 2G in that respect (and many others).
But choosing a case which does not interfere with some headphone plugs can still be an issue.
