Iphone 6 photo - albums and collections
A few questions about photos on the new iPhone 6. First, under the collections, what is the perimeters set to organize the photos automatically? Some of the photos in "collections" have a two week span, then the next section is maybe a 3 mo nth span, then its 11 days, etc. It appears to be random that iPhoto automatically separates them in collections. Also, under one of the (automatic) collections, someone sent me a texted photo that was tagged with the location. That picture is grouped with photos that were unrelated and covered a 3 month span. Is there a rhyme or reason to it? Also is there a way to change the way iPhone groups these photos? If so where and how? Or is the only way to organize these photos is to add each photo to an album? That seems kinda of tedious and I would think there is an easy way to do all this that I just don't know about. Thanks!!

charles altmanReplying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

My MacBook's hardrive failed. My only backup for iPhoto is on my iPhone. I bought a new MacBook Pro and I'd like to restore all the Photo Albums and Events from my iPhone. Is there a 3rd party app that is capable of this?
I downloaded iMacsoft to transfer music, books, etc. But it will only transfer photos in my iPhone's Camera Roll.Are these photos on your iPhone? Can you actually see them? If so, then iCloud should see them as well. All else fails, plug in the iPhone via a USB cable into the new Mac and iPhoto will launch showing you what photos you can import in.
Again, the old photos in question MUST be on the iPhone (i.e. you at one time sync'd your entire photo library to your iPhone, which to my knowledge also makes it available to the iCloud backup if you have enough room).
No, it is not easy to get synced photos back to the Mac. An iCloud backup does not include the synced photos nor the Photo Stream photos. See:

One way to save the synced photos back to the Mac is to save them to the Camera Roll. This requires extra space on the device and much tapping, because it is not easy to save all photos at once to the Camera Roll. It would be easier with iPhoto iOS. Here you can share the the synced photos to iTunes and then save them using iTunes photo sharing on your Mac. In iPhoto you can select ranges of photos to share - much less tapping required. Select the Shared Photos folder under iPhoto Documents.
Click Save To and select the location on your computer where you want to save the items.

Connect your iPhone to your computer.
In iTunes towards the upper right of your screen you will see the name of your iPhone. Click on it (not the eject symbol.
This will open a series of windows with tabs.
Select the tab for photos.
Untick the ones you do not want on your iPhone and at the bottom right click on Apply.
They will be removed. -

Help in deleting photos
I can look at my photos on my Iphone like a hard drive and copy and paste the photos to my computer. I can then delete a batch at a time on the Iphone camera roll. However, how do I delete the 242 photos in my "photo library" album and the 242 duplicate photos in my "Iphone photo" album? When I click on the arrow box icon in the upper right corner of my phone, I can click on a photo, but the delete icon is not available.
I am trying to free up more space on my phone and I want to delete these photos that I have already downloaded to my computer.Check and see if they synced from more than one computer app.
In itunes, Photos> Check mark "Sync Photos from". See what else is in the drop down menu. (i.e. iphoto, pictures folder, Aperture, choose folder, etc.). If you get the option to: Select Albums, Events, Faces and automatically include. Check mark that, and see if any blue album, or events are ticked. If so, uncheck mark and go down and click Apply/Sync. -

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

If you are seeing your photos in "Last Import", the photos are somewhere in your library. Perhaps the dates are wrong, and you do not see the photos arranged by date, where you expect them to be.
Select one of the photos on "Last Import", then ctrl-click it and select "Show in Event". That will take you to the event in event view. -
Can I transfer my individual iPhone photo albums to my MacBook Pro and iPad?
I have taken my photos on my iPhone and broken them down into separate album folders. When I sync my iPhone to my laptop, it will transfer the pictures over, but not in the separate album folders I've created on my iPhone.
Can I somehow transfer my individual iPhone photo albums to my MacBook Pro and iPad?
Why won't the "Album Folders" transfer over? I know I can create separate folders directly on my laptop, but that doesn't help with transferring the folders from my iPhone over to my laptop or iPad.The Seagate backup drive I bought doesn't support 10.5.8
The only reason I can see for that is it's formatted NTFS, which would likely be Read Only in 10.5.x, if you can reformat it MacOS extended, which would erase everything on it now, then that should work for your purposes. -

My phone automatically updated my photo album and it made duplicates of each photo.
I deleted one of each as it maxed out my memory. When I went to view the photos I just got a black screen. I have now lost all my
Photos :( if I synch my phone what will happen?The only way to lose content on the device is restore as "new" from iTunes or "Erase All Content and Settings" from the device.
Start by resetting or restarting the device to see if that rectifies the problem. -
Making new photo albums and slide shows
Is there a way to make new photo albums or slides shows on the iPad? I wish to organize photos and create slide shows while I am on the road, away from my sync computer.
The only way you could do this would be to first delete all photos in your Saved Photos album and then add the ones you want to use in your slide show one at a time (each photo you add is placed after the one previously added). Currently, by using the iPad alone with no third party apps, the only way to add photos to the Saved Photos album is either from Safari (touch and hold an image until the "Save image" dialogue comes up) or from email. On the iPhone originally, this was where photos you took with the camera went. Without the camera, it's left a bit stranded on the iPad.
The other "Photo Library" album is changeable only through an iTunes sync. If you put all the photos you want to use in your slideshows there, you could email them to yourself and then put them in the Saved Photos album one at a time. But that's awfully tedious and you can only have one Saved Photos album available at a time, so you'd have to do that with every slideshow you wanted. Not much use, I admit.
Until Apple improves the photo app on the iPad, it's not at all a versatile or very useful thing. -

But in the iPhone photo album I cannot see the name of the pictures.
Any way to see them?
I need to see pictures by name as I'm creating different picture folders for plants I use in my business.

If you have a first Generation iPad then you cannot update beyond iOS 5.1.1
However you may be able to get compatible versoins of the Apps. To do so, you will have to download the App to iTunes on a computer or another device that does support the App using the same Apple Id you have on your iPad.
With that done you can follow these instructions from your iPad to get a compatible version:

Soory, no, it is not possible. You can only combine multiple copies of the same book into one order.

When I close the cover - it really does take a picture and saves a photo. Luckly, it make a click, and pictures are seen in the photo album, and it does not appear to be forwarding. It is just gobbling memory and annoying as I can only delete these pictures one at a time.
It seems to take a picture of the counter top = I do not see the keyboard.
I am wondering ....It may be a kids game app that takes pictures of the screen or out the back camera. I am starting to think it may just be a sound effect when placing the iPad on its screen. So many things that may be unrelated but coincedental. It started in May (the sound) and so did the multiple pictures - starting to think they are not related.

IWeb 09 major bug - losing site - believe it's photo albums and photo pages
I have repeatedly lost my site now 3 times since upgrading.
The problem appears to be when editing photo album pages with a few photo albums on them and then rearranging those albums and pages between sites.
I can't be more specific at this stage, as it's happening relatively randomly, but am curious if others have discovered similar problems.
FWIW I am recovering by using time machine and backups.I too had major problems with iWeb '09. I was unable even to publish to a local folder without getting an error message "Unknown error" (really, really helpful). I published a site created and maintained by iWeb '08 four times to separate local folders within an hour, not changing the site at all during that period. Only about 90% of the contents were published. Typically what was missing was some photo albums and blogs, although not always the same photo albums.
After some careful poking about in my MobileMe-published site I noticed that some particular pages were not publishing to a local folder. Upon investigation I discovered that some of the photo albums, whilst appearing in the sidebar in iWeb '09, did not appear on the main albums page. It seems that, for whatever reason, iWeb '09 had lost the links to these. I deleted the pages from the sidebar and then turned my attention to Blogs. This was the other area where I noticed that publishing seemed to have a problem.
One of the problems seemed to be that there was a link to a, by now, 'lost' photo album. Editing the link and then re-publishing to a local folder at last cured the problem. I have yet to publish to MobileMe, but at last things are looking good in the 'test' phase.
It seems that, unless your iWeb '08-created site was relatively simple, some editing HAS to be done in iWeb '09 before publishing. I hope that this answers more questions than it poses!
