IPhone 6 Plus 16GB Storage

I bought today an iPhone 6 Plus 16GB and noticed that out of the 16GB 1.3GB were already used and that 10GB is free. When I had iPhone 5 16GB it had 14GB free.
Is there anyway to retain the space?

I know that a portion is for the OS. But it under the storage it shows 1.3 GB used and 10GB free. There is at least 2GB missing. Now with some apps installed I have 5.4GB used and 6.4GB free. Thats 11.8GB, so the OS is 3-4GB in size?

As an Apple user, my opinion is you should either purchase an iPhone with more storage, or remove quite a few of the apps and/or data you mentioned.

IPhone 6 Plus 16gb storage doubts?

Why is it sold as 16gb of storage if the actual, real storage is then displayed (on both iTunes and the iPhone itself) as only 11.7gb?
Where is the rest of the supposed storage? Is there a way to understand why it's this way?
I'm not talking about how much I use, I'm talking about the total hardware storage.
I bought a 16gb 'cause I've always only used about 12-13gb on my old 4S (64gb), so 64 was a waste of money in the end but now 32 isn't available anymore.
I thought 16 will be more than enough, even if the real storage is then only about 15 or so.
Leaving a couple gb out for iOS updates and stuff, should be no problem.
BUT 11.7! Now I'll have to delete some things and I don't think it's fair to pay for 16 and get 11...
Anyone have an idea? Is it only my phone in particular?

The storage is occupied with iOS and system files. To free up some space you may try to reset and restore your device.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
Press and hold on the Home button
Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.
Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings
If this does not help, try these steps. Note that this may erase the data from your computer.
You need to restore your device to factory settings.

If this does not help, try the recovery mode. Turn your device off, then plug it to your computer with the home button pressed. You will need to have iTunes installed on this computer. Keep the Home button pressed until you see the iTunes logo on the screen of your iPhone. After that on your computer you should see the iTunes window saying your iPhone needs to be restored to factory settings. Click on the restore button.

Iphone 6 plus (16GB) storage capacity

Hi guys.
How much storage is taken up by the operating system for ip6 plus?
I recently bought my ip6 plus and as soon as I activated the unit, I checked the capacity (Settings>>General>>About) and it says Capacity: 11.8 GB.
So the iOS is roughly 4++GB? Is it normal?

I purchased 20GB from I cloud and it says it has used about 12 GB and I have about 8 Left on Icloud but I still have no storage left on my phone and cannot take photos, download apps, etc.. I read that the process is supposed to save a smaller version of the photo on my phone and save the higher resolution version in the cloud. It does not seem to have done this however. I do not want to risk deleting.
Also I ahve photos there that are 5 years old and I do not need them to appear on my phone. Can I delete them and still keep them in Icloud? It seems I could not bsed upon what I read. Please hlep. I a comig from using a Droid for the past 5 years.

I'm running out of storage on my iPhone 5 16gb?

Here's the thing I have an iPhone 5 16GB phone which is using 13.1gb leaving only 241mb available.
My laptop is out of service so I haven't been able to back up to my laptop for a while, but have iCloud storage of 15GB which I have 11GB available.
Music takes up 4GB
Photos 3.3GB
Lots of apps
I've deleted all my SMS messages
Cleared all my cookies and safari data
I have photos stored on my phone from 2011 which I don't need on my phone but don't want to delete them... Help

Delete some apps (you can download them again later). Download the Dropbox or Box app and open an account. They both give you some space for free. It should be more than enough space to upload your pictures so that you can then delete them from the device.
How much space you have in iCloud isn't really relevant. That's space for back ups. It can't substitute for local storage.

Blue screen crash iPhone 6 Plus 16GB

Hello,
I bought an iPhone 6 Plus 16GB space gray, expecting that it would be exempt from any blue or red screen of death crashes.
Alas after only a few days I have seen the first crash. I was running an app and the screen went solid blue in the top 2/3 and blue/black in the lower 1/3.
Then it rebooted and a few seconds later I had the lock screen.
I was under the impression that the crashes mentioned in the news were due to TLC flash.
The 16GB phone is supposed to have a Hynix H2JTDG8UD1BMS part that is E2NAND3.0 technology. I have no idea if that is TLC or MLC or what.
Has anyone else here seen the BSOD (blue screen of death) in the 16GB phone?

IPhone 6 Plus 16GB blue screen crashes: Read, error type:Address map hole or size mis-match

Hi folks,
Some time ago I had a 16GB 6+ and it crashed with the blue screen, so I returned it. I now have a brand new one that I got from Tmobile ($75 return fee) and although it has mostly worked just fine, I have gotten 2 blue screen crashes. Below are the details from the phone's log.
What strikes me is the message "Read, error type:Address map hole or size mis-match".
Does anyone know if this could be caused by a hardware defect?
I've gotten one of these crashes running iOS 8.1.2 and another in 8.1.3.

I currently have an iPhone 5, 16gb. I Do Not want to Loose any photos or albums by deleting them from my phone and not backing them up correctly. My iCloud backup is only storing my "Photo Stream" and I can not locate them in iTunes after I sync/Back up.

I currently have an iPhone 5, 16gb. My storage is almost full on my phone. There are only 80 mg available. I am new to icloud and also have always had trouble navigating around iTunes. (Even after endlessly reading through support and help topics as well as calling) My concern is about Not Losing any of my photos if I delete them from my phone. I have to delete a large portion of my camera roll as well as the Album Folders I have created. Although it would be great if there was a way to just keep my albums still. I have already backed them up to an external hard-drive, my computer and a geek stick. I'm not trying to be too paranoid about these photos, but, they are all of my 3 children. There are over 4000 pictures stored on my phone. Some photos go back as far as 2009. Can you offer any information about backing up my Camera Roll, not just "Photo Stream", and albums I've created On my phone? I read that it's good to back photos up on both iTunes as well as icloud. I even purchased extra icloud storage to back them all up. I do regularly back up/sync, my phone to my computers. However, I cannot even locate where they are stored on iTunes, let alone look at them. And as far as my iCloud backup, it only stores the new pictures from "Photo Stream". Please offer any advice you may have. I do not use up a lot of storage on my phone other than Photos and Contacts (it's a work phone). First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.

Hi, I've got my iPhone 6 16gb since the release date and now I run out of space very often. I also paid for apple care warranty. I realize I should have bought the 64gb and I'm wondering if it's possible to exchange my 16gb for a 64gb by paying the 100$ difference. If not, what could I do? I mostly run out of space because of games and apps like spotify that fill up my storage as I use it a lot.

You will need to sell it on your own and then buy the correct one.

I dont mean to rude. but I have seen the same response to others over the past month. I have been keeping up w/ check status from the link provided in my order confirmation. At this point your depts management should be demanding more detailed info on order status. Hi,
Should my iPhone 4 16gb be showing me that I have a capacity of 16gb? I would have thought that it should, but except that the availability will be less due to OS requirements.

The answer has to do with your electronic devices and their operating systems using a different definition of "gigabyte" ("GB") than that of the manufacturer's of storage devices such as memory cards and hard drives. Sorry for the rant up there..   Thanks for your quick response. I couldn't get to an Apple store and can't order anything from the States that contains Lithium ION batteries -- no U.S. Postal Services will deliver these to us anymore. Target sold this to me as an unactivated Sprint phone. I never activated it through Sprint in the States and just took it to Germany with me. I updated to vs.6.0 via ITunes and without the Sprint SIM Card installed. The IPhone is now accessible (Apps, Settings, etc., to be able to check firmware, et al., settings. However, I can't tell if it's unlocked (since I upgraded the version without the Sprint SIM Card installed) until I go to the local cell phone shop and stuff in a BASE (provider) SIM card and test it out. Is there a way to tell whether or not the phone is unlocked without a SIM card in it? I don't think there is....

I told the genius bar what happened, and I already did the so called "steps" that apple reccommended on the site, which was reset network settings, restore iPhone. The genius bar gave me a replacement phone, so I was expecting that the problem would be over, but it isn't. It seems that it's iOS 6.1.3 which is the case of most public complaints on apple iPhone products. Not even 3 weeks after I got the phone replaced, it is doing it again, so I suspect I'm just going to get a replacement again? Unfortunately I only have until 5th of july 2013 until my 1 year warranty is up. After that, any issue I have, I have to purchase apple care. People are expecting this problem to be fixed but I don't see it being solved any time soon. This is horrible and really low, because I have been a good customer, when I talk to the people at the genius bar, I show the utmost respect I can to them for the work they put into their job, but somewhere there is a problem where something has gone wrong. Because of that, people that only have a one year warranty (which i received because I purchased my apple iPhone at an Optus outlet, once that one year warranty is up, I have to pay for a problem that isn't even my fault?
