Iphone 6 plus crashing itunes in Windows 7

Can't synch new iphone 6 plus (64G) with itunes 12.0.1.26 in Windows 7.
iphone 5 synched just fine to computer backup prior to purchasing iphone 6 plus--two hours later it's crashing...
"iTunes has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
available."
I'm guessing this is an Apple glitch needing an Apple fix?

    thank you.

    Hey there Mr. David,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there’s an issue with your iPhone 6 that’s causing it to shut down unexpectedly when browsing the web. If the issue is only occurring with Safari and with all websites, try restoring the iPhone as shown in the article below.

  • Sync issues with iPhone 6 Plus and iTunes

I'm having issues with syncing my iPhone and iTunes.
    I am running: Mavericks 10.9.3 | iTunes 11.4 | iOS 8.0.2
Every time I try to sync my iPhone 6 Plus with iTunes, the sync process gets stuck on step 5 of 5 (waiting for changes to be applied).  The longest this has occurred for is 2hrs.  After this time I have stopped the sync and ejected my iPhone.
I had another issue with my phone when playing music.  When going to play music, I was given the error message saying that the song could not be found.  I connected my iPhone to iTunes and went to the tab in summery page, 'on this iPhone'.  I found the song and could see that next to the song was a small what looked like dotted grey circle.  After Googling this, I found a video saying that if i was to remove all my music and then add it again, this should fix the problem with this song.  I did this and this was when the issue occurred again.
I unticked the option to remove all music but the sync did not finish. So I cancelled the sync, ejected my iPhone and tried again.  This time, the summery page of my iPhone said there was no music on my iPhone and the 'on this iPhone'  tab, this all so said there was no music however, my music was still on my iPhone including the song that would not play.  All played ok.
I have read lots in the Apple forums about lost of difference reason this may be happening.  Things like bugs in iOS 8, app updates being transferred during the sync process, the latest iTunes version has bugs and even a dodgy USB cable could cause it.  My iPod running iOS 5 syncs all ok but I get this problem as well on my iPad Air.
I all so had this issue with my old iPhone 4S.  The problem occurred when running iOS 7 and 8 on the 4S.  When I had it on the 4S, I did a restore of the 4S 4 times and thought I had found the issue down too a dodgy app.  However, now that it has happened on my new iPhone and still not using that app, could this be an issue with my Mac/iTunes?
I am in contact with Apple Care, but this is such a long process.
So if anybody could please offer any advice on this or steps to try to maybe solve the issue, it would be really helpful.   Or if anybody is experiencing the same problem, it would be good to know its not just my devices and Mac producing this sync problem.
I will update my post with any information provided by Apple Care as and when I get it.
Thanks for reading and thanks for your time.
    Mark.

    Hi,
Just wanted to updated my original post and give some more information on this issue that I'm having with my iOS devices running iOS 8.0.2 and iTunes 11.4.
Firstly I just want to updated my details about what version of Mavericks I'm running.  I'm running 10.9.5 - I put the wrong version down in my original post.
So over the last week, I have had a few phone calls with Apple Care an am dealing with a senior technical advisor about this issue.
I have been given some instructions that I am currently working through to see if it solves the sync issue with iTunes and my iOS devices.
The Apple Care advisor has pointed out that a iTunes version issue with music that I have ripped to iTunes and the current iTunes version could be what is causing the problem.  For example, every song that I have purchased from iTunes since having an account, I was told are all exactly the same the same when it comes down the to data/information about that track/album that iTunes stores with the music but when it comes to music that I have added to iTunes myself from a CD,  this was added and encoded with the version of iTunes that was running at the time of adding the music.  So going through all the music that I added to iTunes over the last 10 years, you can imaging that there was lots of mixed version of iTunes linked to lots of different music.
At the moment, I'm having to go through all my music and find any that I have added and create a new ACC version of that music and delete the old version.  However, due to the amount of music that I have, this is going to take a long time.  When I was on the phone to the Apple Care advisor, we did several albums as a test and they all synced over to my iPhone.  This may just have been luck though at that time.
Now, I'm not saying that this will solve the problem that I have with the sync issue but I am going to try it and see how I get on.  The only down side to this fix as far as I can see at the moment, is  that when it's all done, I think I will have to fully restore all my iOS devices to get music on to them.
I will of course updated this topic when I have got through all my music and tried to sync my iOS devices.
Thank you all for your comments.

  • When I open my files to download my pictures from my iphone 6 plus, there is a windows icon with a hard drive.  What is that? And why can't I delete it?

When I open my files to download my pictures from my iphone 6 plus, there is a windows icon with a hard drive.  What is that? And why can't I delete it?  I already reset my phone and a week later they came back.

    I download my pictures by:
!) Connecting my iphone to he computer.
    2) It will open a window or I will go to my computer and select iphone device.
    3) Open up Iphone folders and download.
When I do that, I see a windows icon, with what looks to be a hard drive.  And when I click on it, it leads me back to my desktop.  Right now, I only have one.  I know by tomorrow I will have more.  It just keeps spreading.

I can't connect my iphone 6 plus to Itunes store and app store, what will I need to do?

In my case, i just go to Settings->Itunes & App Store and Sign Out and Sign In again. Then enable all Automatic Downloads (Music, Apps, Books, Updates).
PS: Enable all automatic downloads may not be necessary.
    Good luck.

trying to sync new iPhone 6 plus with Itunes on PC

Good.  I hope it's going well!
If not, you should know you need a recent copy of iTunes on your computer.
You should also check out the iPhone Manual:
iPhone User Guide for iOS 8.1
Otherwise, if you are looking for help, it would be good if you told us exactly what your issues are.  What do you see?  What happens (or does not happen)?

  • First time syncing my iPhone six plus to iTunes a number of albums and songs do not play

After syncing my iPhone six plus to iTunes (11.4.0.18) a number of my playlists show up on the phone but they have no songs. If i look for the album it shows the album with all the songs but they are greyed out and cannot be played.
On the original sync I chose the "Entire music library" option. I have since tried to manually select each song and sync with no success.
    HELP !!!

You can erase all content on the iPhone by going to settings>general>erase all content and settings
If you do not want to lose all the data on your iPhone you'll have to manually delete the stuff off the iPhone you don't want.
Go into the summary page of your phone in iTunes and untick the syncing options etc.
If you no longer have the iPod and don't want any of the content from it you can delete the backup from your computer and it will forget you ever had it

  • Opening store crashes itunes on Windows 8.1

When I try to open iTunes store (or just wait for a few min as iTunes does it automatically once in a while) iTunes crashes without an error, just iTunes has stopped working.
    Things I have tried:
    The QTwin.dll thing
    Change the enviroment PATH
uninstall clean registry reboot install etc ofc
Delete AppData Roaming and Local iTunes folders
safe mode for both iTunes and Windows but no dice
    Move my Library
    delete ituneslibrary...
    create a fresh library
When I fire up itunes in another account it works just fine?
    Could someone please help

I have the exact same propblem.  Microsoft dialed in and changed something in the Environment settings, then I had a problem with duplicates thate weren't there and Apple helped with that without actually fixing the problem and now I have the crash problem just before the iTunes Store loads and now I can't sync anymore.
I have to go to the store on my iPhone which downloads it to iTunes but I can't move playlists to my iPhone anymore.
This is going to cost me another $20 for Apple phone support.  Wish I had an answer but no one seems to have one at Microsoft or Apple.

  • Gathering Genius information in iTunes 10.5 crashes iTunes in Windows 7.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes with no success.  All other iTunes functions work.  I can update Podcasts, purchase music and sync my iPhone but I can't run/update Genuis without crashing iTunes.  I get the message "iTunes has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"  The progress bar gets to  "Gathering Information about your library" every time when it crashes.  I have the latest iTunes and iPhone 4s software installed. Anyone else having this problem? Or can offer a solution?

I just experienced an issue that I believe to be the same, but it occurred after I tried to move my iTunes library to a new computer. I did so by creating a new library, then adding the previous library's "iTunes Media" folder into the new library. Everything copied over just fine, but every time I try to enable Genius, it lets me sign in, agree to the license, and then it crashes iTunes with the same message you described above.
I didn't sync any devices, I do have Home Sharing enabled (so the PC is authorized), and I don't quite know what's up. Genius worked on the previous computer perfectly.
    The new PC's details:  Windows 7 (SP1) 64-bit, 2GB RAM, ~1.0 Mbps download connection, 1 Ghz Dual-core AMD processor.

  • Iphone 6 plus crashing

My Iphone 6 plus is in space grey and is 128gb i have owned it for one week. everytime i have it plugged in to the USB socket in my 2013 renault megane coupe it ends up in a crash re-start cyclical state that just keeps going even when i un-plug from the car - the same lead charges ok at home from the mains and on my pc. my iphone 5 charges fine in the car.
I have to reboot my hanset to make it stop.
i am running the latest up dated ios 8.1 but this appears to be a software issue related to the car?
I have seen similar issues on here.
I have an appointment with apple this Friday so hopefully it will get sorted?
Last dealings with Apple and 02 were a little annoying to be honest but see how it goes!

I did not have this issue for 2 weeks of ownership.  I changed a couple of things and my iPhone 6 plus starting rebooting.  I went back to my original settings and the reboots stopped.  Below is what I did, hopefully this helps.
1.)  Ensure you under 110 apps total on your iPhone 6 plus
2.)  Unchecked "sync this iPhone over WiFi" in iTunes (i think this is the issue!!!)
3.)  Select Automatically back up via iCloud
3.)  Ensure all apps have synced and loaded from any syncs
4.)  Ensure all audiobooks have synced too

  • IPhone 6 Plus: Crashes, Crashes, CRASHES!!!!!

I have been a very satisfied iPhone 4 and 5 user, while I am now astonished how Apple impaired the smooth IOS experience with iPhone 6 Plus, which I got the first day of its availability.
I don't want to talk about the UI not being anymore as perfectly smooth as it used to be, or the absolutely unintelligent choice of 1 GB or RAM in such an expensive device, which causes frustrating re-initialization of the contents in applications, yet what I want to address here is how frustrating has become Safari, which crashes so many times to be considered unreliable.
I want Apple to quickly solve these problems through a software update, or I can't imagine myself keep wasting my precious time in front of a device that keeps crashing and force me to wait for it to reload contents inside the internet browser.

I've installed iOS 8.1.1 on my iPhone 6 Plus 128GB and it has NOT cured this problem. Had previously found by trial and error that it seems definitely to be an issue with the number of apps installed rather than the amount of memory used - or its a combination of the number of apps and the overall memory used for their storage.
Can install up to about 940 apps with the phone still staying reasonably stable. I had also after this added about 30GB of music and still no problem after several days. So then added about 3GB of podcasts and still no problem.
So yesterday, upgraded to 8.1.1 and after backing up (probably a waste of time), the phone has again been mostly trouble free today. So added about 20 apps later today and the crashes and self reboots started all over again...
Seems to me it's certain Apple know about this problem but either can't or won't fix it. I raised the issue through Apples online chat (BEFORE 8.1.1 became available) telling them about my experience only to be told they wanted me to speak to one of their senior advisors. The senior advisor joined the chat only to immediately wipe (for me at least) the previous on screen conversation. The chat then went dead - so I had to start a new session (because they wanted no evidence of my chat that I could screen snap?). On the new chat, I was asked if I would mind the senior advisor phoning me.
Agreed to this and he rang me about 25 mins later. One of the first things I asked, was had he heard of the issue. He claimed he hadn't (first lie). I explained to him what I'd tried and how the problem seemed to be related to the number of apps installed. He made no comment except to suggest that I try again to reinstall all my apps one at a time and not restore from a backup.
This annoyed me because all he was suggesting was something I'd told him I'd already tried several times. After some heated discussion that got around again to me trying to get him to admit he knew or Apple must know about this problem, he then claimed Apple had never heard of the problem either (lie 2)!
So, I asked him, how did he go from telling me that he had never heard of the problem, to then telling me that Apple had never heard of the problem - weren't the two positions contradictory? His reply to this was to claim that he knew everything that Apple knew.
I then became very angry and we then spent the next couple of minutes trying to shout each other down before I gave up and put the phone down. He did not ring back.
All this suggests to me that Apples senior advisors have been told to deny their knowledge of this problem - lie in other words. And I say lie because of what others have said in this post about their experiences. Although I have thought of repeating the process (chat followed by phone call) to see if I get the same denial from another advisor.
So what to do? Following choices I'm considering -
    1. Like others have said, adapt to the issue and restrict no of apps installed
    2. Try and cancel contract on phone and return it - suspect this could be difficult
    3. Try and swap the phone - although this sounds likely to be a waste of time
    4. Consider legal action against Apple - suspect again this would be very difficult
I've been an Apple iPhone and iPad user for several years now but am very seriously considering moving over to Android. It isn't just this iPhone issue either. For years iTunes and its  so called backups have been hopelessly unreliable and I've had enough.
But is Android any more reliable than Apple? So many more different phones and a less secure OS suggests it probably isn't!

  • Cant sync iphone 6 plus to itunes, can only restore backup or setup as new

I recently bought a new iphone 6 plus and set it up through itunes by restoring from the backup of my previous iphone.
Since then I have made updates on my new phone (installed some apps, updated IDs and passwords, etc), and most recently let it install the ios 8.1.1 update.
Today when I connected my phone to my PC to sync it with itunes, the only options I am given are for setting up the phone, not syncing it.
Specifically, it gives me 2 choices.  1) Set up as a new Phone, 2) Restore from this backup (the backup from when I already originally set up the new phone).
I do not want to restore the phone in either of these fashions, I only want to do a sync to a) get the updates on my phone backed up into itunes and b) install music from my itunes onto my iphone (which for some reason did not come across in the original setup).
How can I SYNC my phone without simply having to RESTORE it to the state it was some time ago ?
If I am having this problem now, it seems I would be stuck in this situation in the future too.

It's been almost 3 weeks since I posted this. Any suggestions on how to fix ?

  • Can't sync iPad 2 or iPhone 4 since updating iTunes on Windows 7.

Since upgrading my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4 to iOS 4.3.4 I havebeen unable to properly sync both devices with iTunes 10.4.0.80. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit. The issue is when it goes to sync my contacts and calendar with Outlook 2010, it will just sit there for > 30 mins doing nothing but “syncing contacts”, not going beyond that point. I have to cancel sync to get out of it. Steps I have taken include unticking sync contacts, calendar, bookmarks and notes, (this allows apps and photos to sync without issue) , removing the Apple USB device in Device Manager, and finally reinstalling iTunes.
I’ve never had sync issues with previous iOS and iTunesversions on this PC.
I’m out of ideas, any help out there, please?

None of the solutions in this thread or other similar threads have worked for me. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all Apple files using the correct sequence. I have disabled all Outlook plugins except for the two Apple plugins. I have disabled Bonjour and run Itunes in Windows 7 Compatibility mode.
I also seem to have a slightly different issue and I think the issue may be with the Outlook Itunes plugin or the Outlook Change Notifier plugin.
Here's my situation since upgrading to iTunes 10.4.0.80 and iOS 4.3.5 - although the issues started with earlier versions of 10.4 and 4.3. I am using Outlook 2010 32 bit version on Windows 7 64 bit version. I am using Outlook with a PST file not MS Exchange.
    1. The sync appears to go okay with the backup, preparing to sync, syncing contacts, syncing calender, syncing notes, etc. Successful backups are shown in the Device tabs in Preferences and if I run iTunes diagnostics all tests are successful.
    2. Any edits I make in Contacts or Calender on my iPhone are not apparent in Outlook after a sync. The Notes seem to sync just fine.
    3. Edits I make to Contacts or Calender in MS Outlook are inconsistently synced to my iPhone. Sometimes they sync and sometimes they don't.
    4. No for the really wierd part. If I connect my iPad and sync all of the edits that were originally done on the iPhone are present and correct on the iPad. However, again edits that were originally done in Outlook are sporadic.
So it appears to me that the data in the Outlook file is probably syncing correctly but that the display of the data within outlook is not correct. This makes me think the Outlook Change Notifier might be the issue. I just don't know how to test this or fix this. I know there is a cache used with MS Exchange but I cannot find any cache with a PST file.
Any help or other ideas would be appreciated.
