IPhone 6 Plus Strange Wifi Issue

Picked up on iPhone 6 Plus on friday, love the phone so far. I am having one issue with the wifi download speeds that I've managed to isolate to this device.
I have a 100Mbps connection that I usually get between 70-80Mbps down with a ~6ms ping (checked on my macbook pro, iPad, iPhone 5S and 5C).
Now, when running the Ookla speedtest (or any other speedtest app & in browser) on my new 6+, I get abnormally high ping of around 136ms. Then when the download test begins it shoots up to 20Mbps for a split second, then right back down to around 4Mbps. Where it slowly increases to around 9Mbps.. this is where it gets weird - the download stalls, for about 3-4 seconds and gradually grinds to a halt. Looking at the speed test graph, the lines shoot up high for a sec, then it just 'flatlines' for a few seconds.
This is with every speed test I've checked - it's like the wifi radio loses power for a few seconds and cycles itself off and on. I have reset the network settings already, to no avail.
I've done some looking into this since yesterday and made sure everything is OK on my router side. Low interference, good SNR and few devices connected at once. It seems to be the iPhone, or the iOS 8 software that's doing it.. however my partners 5C on iOS8 does not have this issue.
Is it faulty?

I have this exact same issue with the iPhone 6 Plus. After numerous calls to AppleCare several resets and restore restores from backup, restore as new, and visits to the Genius Bar at the Apple store, Apple dose not appear to have an answer yet. This is happening on all Wi-Fi networks home, Xfinity, Apple Store, and Starbucks. It does not appear to be related to the Wi-Fi network in use. I have been asked to give it a week and see if it gets better but somehow I do not think this is going to work. The Apple Store has even replace my phone and I still experience the same issues.
What am I missing?

If I look at google, I will find that people reporting problems with every version of iOS. And accounts of being abducted by aliens. Just because you are having a WiFi issue does not necessarily mean the issue is with iOS 8 (correlation does not prove causality). Until you've done proper trouble shooting (or had Apple do it for you if you don't feel equipped), it's almost impossible to say why you are having a problem.
My iPhone 5S is not having any issues with iOS 8.

  • IPhone 6 64gb WiFi issues still present on iOS 8.1.

I have try everything to fix my WiFi issues on iPhone 6 64gb (MG4X2LL/A), Even bought a new router among other fixs and other recommendations from Apple and abroad, with no success. The funny thing is that my wife's iPhone 6 16 gb have no trouble at all. Mine; Wrong Password/ Unable to connect. #Disappointing.

    I have problems too.
    - My device: iPhone 6 64gb
    - iOS: 8.1
    - 1 day life.
    - Problem: Wifi doesn't work at home, at university etc.
    - I try: Reset of network settings, reset the device as new, reboot, reset of my wifi router etc. I try all.
    - Results: nothing change
    - Always the wifi settings ask me the password, I put the correct, it doesn't accept; or it says me: impossible to find it, impossible to connect, password incorrect (is correct). Sometimes it has accepted the password (after 20 times trying) but it hasn't worked at all. Only one time it has worked for 2 minutes and after no connection.
Sorry if my english is not so correct. I think as all that is a bug of iOS 8.1. I hope for a solution.

  • Anyone still having iPhone 5 Weak Wifi issues?

I'm sure this issue must be staring me in the face on these forums, but it seems like most iPhone 5 WiFi-related discussions are related to the Verizon update issue.  Most of the time, my iPhone very strong WiFi signal (as I should) coming from a nearby Airport Extreme.  Occasionally, when I return into my WiFi zone (coming home from work, etc.), the signal is shown as weak (only one bar).  WiFi On/Off & Airplane mode On/Off have no effect, while restarting the phone DOES return everything to normal.  Throughout these events, all other devices (iPod Touches & iPhone 4 with iOS 6 installed, iMac, etc.) show consistent "strong" WiFi.  The issue is limited to the iPhone 5.
Is this an issue that others are experiencing?  (If so, and thread links would be appreciated)

Dan, Apple's not here so imploring them on this forum to fix your phone makes you look ridiculous.
If you have bad WiFi connectivity and you've tried all the troubleshooting steps including restoring your phone as a NEW device (not using backup at all) and you still have issues, bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

  • 430s Strange WiFi issues / Blue Screens

I have had my 430s for several months with no issues.  Running Win 7 Pro, 8GB RAM and 256MB SSD with Intel WiFi N6205 Advanced N adapter.
I have a Netgear Router and 3 other PC's in the house along with 3 cell phones.  All other PC's and cell phones can connect to the Netgear router except the 430s.  The 430S connects with limited access - ie, no Internet Access. About 50% of the time it is successful.
HOWEVER - the 430S can connect to my cell phone setup as a hotspot without any issues at all.
Also, periodically, if I try to VPN into work, I get the Blue Screen of Death. So i initially thought a potential memory issue.
No new anti-virus or firewall software.  I run Bitdefender total security.
WiFi troubleshooting says there is an issue with network adapter.
Therefore, I have run Lenovo Memory test, but all works ok.
I have also deleted my home network from the list of networks, and set up from scratch.  No difference.
I have tried to use Win 7 safe mode with networking, and still does not work....although cell phone hot spot is how I am typing this.
My next option is to try an external USB network adaptor....any other thoughts?
    Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll make an appointment tomorrow.
Any idea on what they would do at the apple store? Does apple replace phones? Do I need to bring the receipt or just the phone?

  • IPads/iPhone and Open Wifi Issue

Running Cisco wireless at a larger university and We're running into issues with ipads and iphones on our network.  We run an Open guest network.  No encryption.  But are having difficulty getting ipads and iphones, of variying models, getting connected reliably.   We get "error joining network" messages, but only for the Open networks.  Also, it seems Random.  3 out of 4 times it fails and then it will connect a few times and then fail again.  It makes no sense whatsoever.
    Here is out network setup:
    Wireless network enryption:  None (Open)
    WLC is a 5508 Running version 7.0.222.0
We also have 2-4400 models running 7.0.222.0
APs are 1131's (ABG) and 1142's (AGN)
We have run several tests to confirm that this seems isolated to our Cisco envirnoment and only Open networks.  We have another vendors products on site (That we've been slowly replacing with Cisco) and have the same network configured there and are not having these issues.  We have also tried putting a WPA2-PSK password on the network for testing purposes, and that elminates the issues, however, we need this network to be Open due to requirements on our end.
We've tested everything from iPad 1's up to iPad 3's all running the latest iOS 5.1.1 as well as iPhone4 and iPhone4S version running 5.1.1.  All seem to have the issue.
I'm running out of ideas for testing and troubleshooting this issue.  Any help or direction would be greatly apprecated.
    Thank You.

    I better explain this better:)
The session timeout will force a user to have to log back on the webauth. Idle timeout will allow the wlc to know of the iDevice even if it goes to sleep, or else it will timeout after 300 seconds which is default. Fast SSID change might not be needed unless you want the ability or devices to be able to switch to a different SSID or else the will have to wait for around 30 seconds.

  • IOS 5.1 update on iPhone 4 and wifi issues?

Basicly i updated my iPhone 4 to the latest software (iOS 5.1) and every since then i have nothing but trouble previous networks i was able to connect with are either not showing up or only showing up when im within 2 feet of the router. I have tryed resetting and restarting the router and my iPhone but to no avail and i have also reset the network settings.
Is anyone else having this problem? or is it just me?
    Anything you suggest trying?
To say the least i am NOT impressed with the iPhone at this moment in time
    Thank you

I'm sure you've already tried, but start by turning Wi-Fi off then back on.  Here's a longer list of troubleshooting steps: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398.  Maybe you'll find a solution there.

  • IPhone 4s Strange Camera issue

I haven't been using my iPhone 4s long, and only just recently tried taking photographs. Firstly, i noticed when i take photographs in poor lit areas the flash would white wash the picture on 60% of the photo. I do not have any kind of case or screen protector.
secondly, when i observed the camera lens to check for finger prints or scratches i noticed that something inside the glass is slightly covering the lens.
I looked on Google for pictures of the rear of the iPhone 4s and i came to the conclusion that my camera has something inside that shouldn't be there.
When i was trying to book a service or return throught apple website, they dont acknowledge anything at all to do with the camera, and the only thing it says in the technical support is to restore iphones software.
    Anyone had anything like this?
ill try and get a picture up for you to see,  but basically if you look at the camera glass there is something i can only describe as a "half moon" covering the actual lese.

Its alright now, I opened the back and this is what i found.(picture below) Somekind of protection around the camera wasnt stuck on correctly at production which caused the white wash and the "half moon" over the lens.

    Hi
As your probably aware this is a large problem with most 4 users at the moment you could try some of these quick tips may help?
Try switching Airplane mode on for 30 seconds or so, then turn it off and try connecting to Wi-Fi again.
Try holding down the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button until your device restarts.
Turn your router off for 30 seconds and then switch it on again.
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings and then set up your Wi-Fi network again from scratch.(Note this will reset all your bluetooth setting too such as paired devices)
Try changing the channel on your router and check the rest of the settings.
Make sure that your router firmware is up to date.

iPhone 6 IOS 8 Wifi Issue - How can we rule out hardware
With all the post about Wifi issue, could it be hardware and not software.  Anyone know how to diagnosis the difference.

    Hi Lady Engineer,
If you are having an issue with Wi-Fi on your iPhone, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • Intermittently iphone 6 and 6 plus is wifi connected but internet does not work.

    Hi,
I have an issue where intermittently iphone 6 and 6 plus is wifi connected but internet does not work. iMessage works though.  Toggling the wifi setting clears
the issue temporarily but it occurs again.  Running iOS 8.3 now.  This was the case on iOS 8.1 and 8.2 as well.
I have tried the typical troubleshooting steps (reboot/reset network settings/disabling location services for wifi/upgrade/etc)
My router is an EA9200 router with 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz.  It is configured with all bands with the same name.
All other devices in my house works perfectly fine and has no disconnects (ipad/macbook air/tv's/receivers)
My thought is that iphone 6 cannot handle well the moving around between bands.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David

Have you tried to reboot your router by turning off the power (you may have to unplug it from the power source), then waiting about 30 seconds, then turning it back on?  This seems to solve a lot of problems.

  • HT1688 iPhone 4S no WiFi anywhere iOS 5 after Apple Tech help same issue on iOS 6

ISSUE  - can not connect to any WiFi hotspot at all
Several weeks ago my daughters iPhone 4S AT&T (on iOS 5) phone number failed to connect to any WiFi hotspot on her college campus including: campus wide WiFi, Starbucks  or her Cisco 1500 WiFi in her dorm room.  She has an iPhone 4S under warranty (I think now in the range of 30-20 more days).
The iPhone couldn't find any WiFi at all, but her roommates iPhone 4 worked perfectly everywhere on all hotspots.
So I have been paying for massive data overage charges with AT&T because the iPhone 4S is broken.
AT&T and then APPLE tech support first  call 4 hours long
She rented a car and drove home 47 miles (94 miles round trip) and spent the afternoon a few Sundays ago and I spent 4 hours on the phone with AT&T and then Apple support.   I was weird I pointed our that her phone was 0.06GB over capacity e.g. a yellow caution alert in iTunes - but the Apple tech on the phone said just back it up and we would reset and restore it.
We did all the usual stuff with AT&T and then they gave up and moved us to Apple (backups, resets, then a full system factory revert, and restore) - it was brutal I hadn't seen my daughter in 2 months and her entire visit was a tech support nightmare.
Despite saying I did not want her to upgrade to iOS 6.X - the apple tech wanted to do a full restore BUT the restore procedure triggered an unwanted iOS 6.X upgrade  (and wiped the phone and started a massive download) without my permission - it was a slow painful 1 hour 40 minute download.  Worse yet I kept thinking that if she is 0.06GB over capacity and the iOS 6.X is "bigger" than 5.X what was going to happen to her phone ?  The apple tech got testy with me when I pointed this out I had to say "you know if a glass of water is overfilled by 0.06 and you want to replace 2 oz with 3 oz (e.g. the iOS upgrade form 5 to 6 ) then obviously it will spill some more - she didn't get it.
So I have a near 2 hour download - scheduled a call call back but was hung up on (Apples IP phone system couldn't here me talk) and had to go back through AT&T's 611 support number support to get an Apple technician since the Apple line said it was closed - her iPhone was in a limbo 1/2 upgraded state waiting for user input in iTunes.
During the restore (I say during not after) that her WiFi did start working while the apple tech was on the line BUT the restore was still gong on in the background - her camera roll took 16+ hours to restore ( yes sixteen hours !!!) - during which time she left the phone tethered to her Mac-book didn't use it and left her Mac-book attached to a power source.
Overall she says that lost some data and her also her music playlists on her phone, and it did connect to WiFi when the rep was on the line and when she first got back to the her college campus.
Comments (not related to the issue at hand):
    1. Overall this was a very very time consuming experience - I am a computer guy (not stupid but not super Mac knowledgeable either) but it seems to me that we should be able to attache the iPhone to iTunes and Apple should be able to remote control everything instead of saying click her click there and having Apple technicians say there is a non-existent menu (she was mixed up between Mac OS-X and Windows PC iTunes) here etc. etc.. Seriously why have the end user involved this is 2012 and if the iTunes is on the Internet there is no excuse for not granting access to Apple Tech!
    2. As for iOS 6.X (I loaded it my IPhone 4) your maps are crap and useless I hate it thanks for giving me a worthless mapping system - I gout out my old GPS unit and put it back in my car.  Seriously give us back Google maps. My other daughter gets pop-ups upgrade to iOS 6 but can not load iOS 6 because it then says not enough space.  What a joke !
---------------------------------------ISSUE recurred after 1-2 days can not connect to any WiFi at all
But it only worked for one (1) or two (2) days and then under iOS 6.X the same issue started happening.   Her iPhone 4S failed to connect to any WiFi hotspot on her college campus (LMU) including: campus wide WiFi, Starbucks  or her Cisco 1500 WiFi in her dorm room.  The exact same thing.
I keep getting hammered on over use cellular charges from AT&T despite she should be cooked due to all the WiFi radiation coursing through her body on campus form both her own Cisco 1500 hotspot and the campus wide network.
---------------------------------------AT&T  tech support second call AT&T said the phone was broken Apple should replace
So it only worked for one (1) or two (2) days despite my daughter driving almost 100 miles and being sucked into a a marathon 4 hour tech support nightmare with Apple.  The net result the exact same thing started happening again no WiFi capabilities again.  So I had her call AT&T at 611 and the AT&T technician talked to her looked at the lengthy case notes from the prior call e.g. the history and said that the iPhone 4S was defective phone no point in wasting another four hours of every one's time.  She was told by AT&T to go to the Apple store get the iPhone replaced as it was under warranty.
Problem is that she has no way to get to the Apple store (no car) so I now have a 94 mile round trip to pick her up and go to an Apple store before her one (1) year warranty expires - as such I made this appointment.
I did some more research and this seems to be a pretty big problem for people - Apple is hiding the issue hoping people just go away and they have no concept of cost and time that they force down customers throughts to debug problems.
It even seems like Apple actually hid a known problem from me during my initial four hour tech nightmare that Tim Cook admitted publicly on Sept 24, 2012 (last few links) see below links for further research:

All in all Apple is really dissapointing me 5 iphones and the newer they get the more bugs 3G worked great no issues, iPhone 4 no major issues, iPhone 4S buggy WiFi - never want to use an iPhone 5 form what I am reading.

No one is going to read your lengthy post.
If the basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the User Guide don't work, then bring your phone in for replacement.

  • WiFi issues with iPhone 4S & ios 6 update

    Okay here is my issue...
I've been reading alot of issues that people have with connecting to WiFi with their new iPhone 5, iPhone 4S or other devices but I have no trouble connecting to WiFi at all. My problem is that WiFi wont 'work'. The WiFi I'm hooked up to at home doesn't let me do basically anything that requires internet.
I can get on the Facebook app fine and my newsfeed loads but I can't see Facebook notifications, upload photos or videos, read inboxes, look at photos, its very slow etc.
I can't get into the App Store or iTunes at all. It says it 'Cannot Connect to iTunes Store' when I try.
I can't upload photos onto Instagram
Currently I'm into the Simpsons Tapped Out game and I can't go onto it at all.
And there are a few other minor issues I am having.
All these things I can do with my Telstra 3G network however and it ***** because I want to use and do all these things but I have to use my 3G and I've just recently gone over my data monthly usage and been charged extra which I'm not happy about.
So is anyone else having these issues or is it just me and I'm stuffed? I'd REALLY love some help.
I've been lost with what to do because as some are having WiFi issues as well, mine isnt the same and it's hard to find answers or just other discussions.
    Please Help!
    Thankyou.

I am having the same issue since updating to iOS 6.  It has been noticeable on my iPhone 4S and a little less noticeable on my iPad 3 but I think it is happening on the iPad too.  Very annoying problem.  One way to get it to work better is to re-boot your phone.  It will work for awhile then and then eventually not be working anymore and you will need to re-boot again.
Just to be clear with everyone - the iPhone looks like it is connected to the wireless, it gets an IP address but can't transmit any data.  Device:  iPhone 4S, OS:  iOS6
