IPhone 6 rattle

I know that this is a topic that has been done to death for previous iPhone releases... but I would be interested to hear thoughts on the new iPhone 6, is this still a factor of the phone's design.
My iPhone 6 rattles when I tap the top portion of the screen, if you turn the phone over and tap it along the top band below the camera lens the rattle becomes slightly more pronounced.
I spoke to Apple chat last night and was told that this is normal and that it is the auto focus lens. He also said that it could be the gyro or another moving part housed in the top of the phone. Do other people have similar noise?? I haven't been able to get to an apple store to tap their demo phones!
I am content to accept it as 'normal' if others are experiencing similar.

Having taken apart previous iPhone models, it's definitely in the camera assembly, so more than likely the 5 element lens.

  • Iphone rattling noise.

I got my iPhone 3GS delivered to my door on June 19. I put a case on it right away and have never dropped it. I recently noticed a rattling noise when i shook my iphone to shuffle my songs. I held all the buttons in place because i figured it was one of them, but it still rattled, so it must be internal. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if apple would be able to replace it for a non-rattling iphone.

my rattling noise is the sleep wake button at the top of the phone. and a little of the silent switch....is the sleep wake button at the top suspose to rattle? and it is also wiggly.
    please help

  • IPhone Rattles When Internal Vibrate Mechanism Is Activated

I noticed about a month ago that my iPhone started rattling when the internal vibrate mechanism is activated. Also, when I shake the iPhone, I can hear the internal vibrate mechanism move around. Has anybody else had this problem?
    Thanks.

Sorry, not sure... I've just read about it, never experienced it. Perhaps someone else can chime in that has experienced it. I'm sure you'll find more info with a Google search.

  • IPhone rattles when on vibrate

love the new iPhone 3G, but whenever I put the phone on vibrate I get this horrible rattling sound. I doubt a restore will fix it. It only seems to happen when the phone is up vertically, laying it down it's fine.
Any ideas on what to do? I can't take it back yet as the UK is practically out of stock.

Yea. Mine does too. This is the 3rd time I've gotten a deffective iPhone. I'm afraid to go back to the store and tell them this one's broken too. And they all have been something differen't which is so wierd. I'm gonna call applecare and see what they can do

  • I hear this rattle when i put my iphone on a surface. when i tap it, it appears to be near the camera. is this normal?

my friends iphones dont do this at all and this is my replacement phone since my first iphone rattled too
    what should i do?

Actually, it is normal. I had the same problem, and brought my phone to the apple store. The genius people told me the original iPhone 4 had problems with buttons getting stuck, so now they are manufactured a little looser then some might like. They showed several phones at the store with the same "problem" and although I had another problem with my phone so it got replaced, they don't replace for loose buttons/rattling. For the record, my replacement phone does the same thing.

  • I need to change my iphone

The screen of my iphone rattled and I need to know if I can deliver this (iphone5s) and pay the difference for a new...

Apple can service your phone if you are willing to play the service fee, and they will replace the whole unit for it with the same model.

  • Hi, I was just wondering how much it would cost to repair the rear camera of my iPhone 4s. I dropped it and it won't work and I hear something rattling inside when I shake it. How much would it cost to fix?

If you have a tool, try removing the battery cover and chech out. Some times the camera pin may have been misplaced. If so, you can fix it yourself.

  • Iphone 5 makes a rattling noise from day 1, the replacement also makes this similar noise. customer care can provide me with another replacement but can not promise if the new replacement will have this noise or not. can i get a refund ?

my iphone 5 from day one makes a rattling noise when you shake the device.
the replacement i recieved also makes the similar rattling noise, apple calls it a "common problem" and says its the autofocus of the camera which makes the noise, but people i know are not experiencing any such noise in their evices, hence its not their in all the iphone.
honestly investing Rs 45000 in india i dont expect my device to have a stupid defect as this one,
In my latest conversation i have had with a senior representative of apple care iv been given an option to have anpther replacement but they cant promise me that the new replacemnt will have no such rattling noise it might be even worse.
since apple cant promise me a replacement without any such noise and my device is not even 90 days old, and since apple calls it a common problem in iphone5 is it possible that they give me replacement of 5c or 5s and il pay the difference in price or just have a refund ? since they cant provide me with a solution and keeping this device with this defect is not a solution with me.

Sorry if it's over 14 days apple does not refund the device, just sit tight and keep on asking for a device that doesn't rattle, be firm but polite about your position on the matter.
    Politeness works wonders

  • I have an iPhone 5 and when i lightly tap on the back top part of my phone it sounds like something is rattling inside. Only on the top part of the phone, not on the bottom. I am wondering if anyone knows what this may be and should i have it looked at?

Definitlely have it looked at. That could be a hardware deffect on the maker(apple) so there could be a definite replacement option.

  • My iPhone 5s rattles internally when I shake it. (it's not the home button)

I've only had my iPhone 5s for 2 days but I just noticed that when I shake it, there is a rattling sound coming from inside the phone. I've done some research on this and found similar complaints from other people who also said their 5s rattles, but the big difference between their complaints and mine is that the majority of other people's complaints is that their iPhone 5s rattles from the Home button which seems to be accepted as a normal thing, while my iPhone 5s' Home button does NOT rattle when I shake it, and the source of the rattling sound is internal, behind the screen. It sounds like some small piece got dislodged and is now moving around freely when I shake it. It also seems to come from somewhere near the top half of my phone, not the bottom.
Obviously I'm a bit concerned about this, especially since this is a product by Apple, which is not known for shoddy build quality (yes, even despite that their products are assembled in China, Apple still tends to have good build quality).
I'm not overly OCD, but when things rattle it bothers me because 1. It's simply annoying and 2. It's only normal to assume that something may have broken inside and now I have doubts whether my brand new iPhone 5s is even working at 100% or not.
Does anyone else have the same problem I have? Please don't reply with Home button issues as I've stated clearly that my issue is NOT coming from the Home button but rather elsewhere, internally. If you are knowledgeable about my situation please let me know what the problem is and how I can resolve it, thanks!
If it matters at all my 5s is the gold one with 32GB.

It will be the camera, the lens need a moveable bit so it can autofocus.
It was like that on the iphone 4S too.
Some rattle louder than others but its nothing to worry about and Apple won't change it as a brand new one will also rattle.

  • I hear a rattling noise from my iPhone 5i f I shake it slightly.

i hear a rattling noise from my iPhone 5i f I shake it slightly. This is a replaced handset, the previous iphone also had a flaw. The people at apple say that it is normal but there was no such noise in the previous one

I would recommend an Apple Store visit because you should hear nothing when you shake an iphone, they are build with little to no moving parts and more than likely that sound is from a hardware defect.

  • Iphone 4 rattling sound near camera

whenever I put the phone on a surface (when the unit is in horizontal position and not on hand), I hear a rattling sound. Also when I shake it, I hear a rattling sound near the camera. What could it be? Should I take it on the store? Or is it just normal?

Yes this is sort of normal.
All Iphone 4S have this issue. It's the shutter/ focus ring of the camera.
    Test it yourself:
Go to camera mode, tap on the phone to reproduce the sound and focus the camera while tapping it.
You will notice the sound changing/ getting less.
There is a difference between Iphones 4S. One has it louder than the other. If it is too loud or too disturbing, contact your Apple center.

  • Why do I hear a rattling sound in my iPhone 5 when I lightly shake it ?

Why does my iphone 5 make a rattling noise when I lightly shake it or move it ? It's a faint sound but it's brand new this should not happen?

I would recommend an Apple Store visit because you should hear nothing when you shake an iphone, they are build with little to no moving parts and more than likely that sound is from a hardware defect.

  • Rattle noise on my iphone 4s

Why my Iphone 4s makes a rattle noise by the camera lense?

please search this forum.  your question has been asked and answered over and over and over again.

  • Iphone 4s rattle by earpiece...what piece of hardware is it?

hi everyone. pretty obvious the new iphone 4s has a hardware change by the earpiece, i say obvious because there are alot of complaints amassing about this problem.  my friends iphone 4 no rattle, my 4s = rattle, wifre 4s = rattle, just wondering what hardware change was made, and/or what peice of hardware it is.  a small tap of the finger on the phone allows you to hear the rattle, the real problem is not the rattle but the voice distorsion it creates while listening to someone talk to you while trying to make a phone call. any help would be great.

via a clean USB install with no time machine backup restored, the issues remain entirely unchanged.
So, you already tried a fresh install on an erased volume, with no third-party software installed?
Do you have an external USB hard drive with a volume that can be erased, where you can install a clean OS X system?  I would not use a USB flash drive for this (usually too slow).  If you have one, an SDXC card that is at least 32GB in the high-speed SD card slot would work (that's how I ran Yosemite beta for testing); surprisingly fast...
If OS X runs smoothly off of a different drive, the problem may be the internal hard drive.  You can check its S.M.A.R.T. status in Disk Utility.  Select the internal drive (not the volume indented below) in the Disk Utility sidebar.  Press Cmd-I on the keyboard.  In the Info window, if S.M.A.R.T. status says Verified, it passed that test.  Passing does not rule out a problem with the drive, but if it does not pass, you should replace the drive.
If there is a problem with he drive becoming unreliable, it may cause such delays, because the system writes to the startup disk for virtual memory.  And it would  probably not delay if you repeat the same action immediately.  It would be less likely to happen soon after a restart, more likely to happen after the Mac has been running for a while.

  • Iphone 5 rattles at top when shaken.

Called customer service and they have arranged for me to mail back to them and will replace.  One Senior Advisor said it was the new camera's auto-focus that is free-floating. Totally normal noise. Had several iphones prior, last being the 4S and there was not a rattle from the camera. Doubt that's it.  Gonna demand a new one at the apple store today.  Have a Genius Bar appointment at 4:50. More likely a tired chinese kid on the assembly line messed up. Hard to crank out 5 million phones in 2 months without flaws I guess.

Went to the store and the Genius took it apart.  Said it was the camera and that it is supposed to make that noise and said he checked three other phones and they all did the same thing.  I listened to the sample he brought and I heard nothing.  Was comical.  So I figure I have proof I brought it in case there is an issue with th phone in the future.  I have a return code from a senior advisor and am considering using the phone for a few days and then maybe sending it out for repair if the noise is bothersome.
