IPhone 6 restarts every night by itself

This did not happen until 8.0.2. I will set my alarm, plug in my phone, and go to sleep. My alarm goes off in the morning, I snooze. When it comes on again, I slide to stop and get up. The screen comes up that says "Touch ID needs you to enter your passcode after restarting" something like that. Every day. It is quite annoying. I've let the battery drain down and I've also rebooted the phone myself (I refuse to wipe it clean and start all over again).
Any ideas on this? As an Apple user since the 80s, I am simply not use to their products malfunctioning.

Basic trouble shootings steps - restart, reset, restore from backup if no joy then as new.
But doesn't sound like your here for trouble shooting advice since you refuse to one of the basic steps.

Should I call apple support and see if I can get a new one?

Try a Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    If no joy...

  • IPhone 4 restarts every time an app is opened

Since last week I have noticed that my iPhone constantly restarts when an app is opened.  I have not downloaded anything new or made any changes.
    I find this extremely frustrating.
    can any one help??

had you read the User Guide, you would have been directed to the following troubleshooting steps:  restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.  I suggest you try these sequentially.

  • Restart every night vs Sleep?

I just thought I'd ask for user opinions on this. I have Quickeys set to restart my computer after my backups run at 3am. An Apple Tech said its a good idea to restart the computer daily as maintenance is done on restart. On the other hand, I know many just put their computer to sleep for days without restarting as OSX is so stable. I've done this also. The advantage of just putting the computer to sleep is that I return to the work where I left off.
Any thoughts on whether its a good idea to restart daily or is it fine just to put your computer to sleep for a few days. I do find that due to software updates I frequently have to restart anyway so I might be restarting enough around this for whatever these startup maintenance routines do to keep the computer good. Oh and I guess the one thing I've always noticed with a restart is that memory is freed up. But I have 4 gigs and never get anywhere near that; maybe 2.5 gigs at most throughout the course of my day.

    Hi Kerry,
I'm not sure there is a "right" answer on this one. I remember reading, some time back, an article that recommended sleep vs shutdown/restart because booting a computer causes a "surge" on the electronics, which is not good for them and reduces a device's life. I don't know if that was "true" at the time, and if so, if it continues to be, but there it is fwiw. I think the bottom line is it's personal preference, although more and more I suppose we should be considering power draw, even as low as it is in sleep.
It has always been my practice to let my PBs/MBP sleep, and restart only as necessary. I'm sure I've gone a month or two between restarts, probably more at times. I do it purely for convenience, and (knock on wood ), I've never had a PB/MBP die on me (and that goes back to 1992). I still use the Pismo I got in 2000 periodically, and regularly use the TiBook I got in 2004, though I use my MBP by far the most. In any case, I'm on my MBP right now, while the other two are sitting here at arm's reach, asleep until I wake them.

  • HT201263 Does your iPhone automatically backup every night?

I feel like I was told this once....is it true?

    No.
If you have setup iCloud on your device and turned on the backup function it will backup automatically when your device is connected to Wi-Fi and power.
Obviously, for people who charge their phones at night, it will backup then (if setup to do so).

  • Restart java application by itself after a while

    Hi,
I have a Java application that runs on a Time clock (Hand held device). This app. has to be up and run all the times 24/7. After few days the app goes to hung stage, where we need to restart it manually. Is there a way, I can code within the app. itself, that restarts every night or so ....
    Appreciate your helps.
    Thanks
    Sath

    tjacobs01,
thanks for your response. i should withdraw the word (hand held). this is an external device but connected to the network (ethernet). Hence the app. is started via a shell script and the app. runs on the device. I will work on something with timer or look into the shell script to accomodate this ...

  • I have been told that is not good to turn your Iphone completely off each night!

I have been told that if you turn your iphone completely off every night that it was not good for the phone. Is this factual or not?

Of course it is not true.
Where did you hear such a thing?
My wife and I turn our iphone off every night and have for over 4 years without issue.

  • My iPhone 5s restarts while charging and none of my downloaded apps will open

MMy iPhone 5s restarts every time I plug it in to charge. And none of my downloaded apps will open except for a few. I've restartedmy phone, deleted the apps then redownloaded them, ive reset my network settings, and even reset all of my settings in general. But nothing will work

    Hello d.ashley.,
The troubleshooting steps detailed below can help stabilize your iPhone.
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.

  • HT4528 Hello.  I recently upgraded my iPhone 4 to ios7.  Since the upgrade, my phone turns itself off at the same time every night, for about 30 minutes.  I have no idea why.  Any suggestions?

I recently upgrade to iOS 7, and since then, my iPhone turns off automatically at the same time every night for about 30.  Why does this happen, and what setting can I change to prevent it?

Is Do Not Disturb turned on? Do you see a quarter-moon icon up top in the status bar?

  • Is it bad to charge iPhone every night even if it still has charge?

New to iPhone. I've had an iPod touch but I've always waited to charge it when the low battery showed. I don't run the iPhone battery down every day, but I've been charging it through the night. Will this hurt it?

Actually it can, an iPhone fully charges between 2-4 hours  and over charging the battery can cause it to wear itself out and then your battery won't hold as much charge as you did when you bought it; this happened to my aunt's iPhone

  • Iphone 4 keeps restarting every 3 min but only when being used

Iphone 4 keeps restarting every 3 min but only when being used, it doesn't matter what I do with it, it has to restart itself during usage, it's so annoying. I have restored but still no luck, currently trying to update the software once I've finished downloading it but I know it will keep restarting when connected to itunes.
Anyways when I do decided to bring it to the apple store would I need to bring the receipt with me?
because i dont have it anymore only the phone, box charger and usb
    thanks

Anyways when I do decided to bring it to the apple store would I need to bring the receipt with me?
No. The warranty is tied to the device, not the individual & all iphone 4's are still under warranty.

  • The phone turns itself off every night

Every night my iPhone 4 turns itself off so that nobody can call me, and I do not receive any  messages. If someome calls me, they are told that I can not be reached. To "open" the phone again, I have to make a call. Then it works all right the rest of the day. But the next morning it is "closed" again. It is a new phone. I complained and I got a new one, but it has the same problem.

Try to set it up as new device, without using the latest backup, in case it contains corrupt data causing your problem. How to back up your data and set up as a new device

  • MacBook Pro turns itself on every night at 8:00 p.m. EDT

I am getting freaked out! I am a new Mac user, and my factory new MacBook Pro will turn itself on (a full start, boot up) every night at 8:00 p.m. This is a cold boot up. The computer is not in sleep mode. Additionally, I have not done any auto wake or sleep commands. I have seen this issue mentioned by a few other folk, but I do not see Apple providing a response. It is creepy and it needs to be fixed. HELP.

There is nothing in preferences I have set to cause the computer to start up. It does not seem to do when it is not plugged into the ac adapter. It appears to happen only when the computer is hooked up to ac. I can always tell it has turned itself on, because the glow from the latch starts. I cannot take the computer back because it is past 14 days, and Apple Tech Support, when I called them about this, was useless. Since no one has been able to answer it in the forum, I can only suspect there is something wrong with the computer. Everything else with the computer seems to be fine. I just don't want my hardware to be working when I don't want it to work, and I have concerns about security. I have taken the AirPort offline when I log off, but given the computer turns itself on, I do not take comfort in supposing by turning off the function, the MB has actually followed the command. What else is the computer doing contrary to what I want it to do?
