IPhone 6 screen artifacts

My 1 day old iPhone screen has low contrast dashes running across it. The direction varies from horizontal to vertical.
I first noticed it when I took a picture, then zoomed it up.
Sometimes on the startup screen, it shows up as bands.
The dashes/bands don't appear on all screens. The camera screen doesn't show them while in the viewfinder more. It does show them after a picture is taken.

I Have an iPhone 6 64GB and I am experiencing all the same issues with the random rotation locking and inverted video picture. I too have checked to make sure he rotation lock option is not selected. toggling it does not correct the problem. Shaking the phone to accentuate the orientation does nothing. The only fix for screen orientation and the inverted video problem is a generally a power recycle.
The new phones (6) have a new accelerometer chipset from Invesense. Their sensitivity can be adjusted (different cycle rates). I suspect that higher cycle rates consume more power. So since the environment for starting up a camera or flipping a screen is a low accuracy situation, my wild *** guess is that there is a software glitch related to feedback from the chipset in certain settings. That may be why everyone is reporting variable times when the problem manifests itself.
I was hoping it would be on the bug list for iOS 8.0.2, but it's not.

IPhone Screen Artifacts?

Ok after taking over 48 hours to get my phone activated and finally being able to take my phone out of its iBrick mode I was happy to be able to synch my phone and get musical content on it. However when I activated the ipod mode and tried using cover flow I was greeted by a frenzy of black triangles and other shapes flikering on the screen during the text to picture rotation transition. They also appeared when I flicked the album art selections but the screen would eventually clear to normal. I have notice static random black shapes in other areas too but mostly in transitions. Videos from YouTube play fine though. They also aren't dead pixels since the screen is fine in full graphics filled screens like Safari and Notes. I tried to restore the phone back to factory specs and reload everything but the problem still persists. Other than that the phone works perfectly. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm praying to God that its a Software issue and not the graphics chip and if so that I can maybe get the OS reloaded at the Apple Store I got it from or replace the phone now before I get too far invested into this unit.

Yes. I actually had basically a catastrophic graphics failure- the screen was scrambled, got it replaced at apple this morning, sadly when I woke up (by this morning I mean 4am, isn't the Apple Store 5th ave great?) I loaded it with my data and was surprised to find the issue you describe occurring in cover flow. Small white triangles squares and similar shapes traveling across the screen in a 45° angle down and to the left, it occurs first when i rotate the unit to activate cover flow while its fading between screens. I have a res later this afternoon to have it looked at, other then these malfunctions Ive been extremely happy with the iPhone.
It could use copy and paste if anyone is reading who can implement it. Why not pull a play from the trackpad play book? Tap, Tap-hold - pull up a selection loope- once the text is selected the user could be prompted with a copy or cut option. Also, it would be highy beneficial to my productivity if emails and attachments were to be saved onto the device. So that I can view images and pdfs that were sent to me while not in an area with service, say the subway. Oh, and Id like to download images off the internet. Just thought I'd give my 0.02; thanks and great product.

Possible solution for white C2D iMacs with screen artifacts or lines

I have a white 20" Core 2 Duo iMac with the famous screen artifacts issues. Screen tearing, horizontal lines, goofy pixels, you name it. From my research it seems there are countless others with these problems.
I tried running the SMC fan control app to boost fan speeds. This helped a little, but did not completely solve the issue. A lot of people think these issues are related to heat, and I agree, but only partially. When a graphics chip overheats it is eventually damaged. I have damaged my share of graphics chips while overclocking them in my PCs. In the case of my iMac and maybe plenty of others, I still have issues if the GPU is hot or cold.
I installed WinXP using bootcamp. I finally found an application which will change the clock speed of the GPU on the fly. The X1600 GPU in my iMac has a 475Mhz core speed and 500Mhz memory speed. I cut these down to 400Mhz on the core and 400Mhz on the memory. At these lower speeds I no longer have any issues with screen tearing, horizontal lines, or random crashing. I do still have a few wierd pixels here and there, but they are not all that noticeable and I can live with them.
Now for the fun part. I wanted to permanently fix these speeds into my GPU so when I boot back to Mac OS X, I don't have any issues, and I no longer have to boost fan speeds or run any additional apps. I spent most of today taking apart my iMac, putting DOS on a spare SATA hard drive, and running an external monitor while booting my iMac with the spare drive hanging out the side. All this so I can run ATIflash, and use it to dump an image of the GPU BIOS ROM file.
Well, I ended up finding out the ATI GPU has no ROM to flash. My best guess is open firmware or something like that passes this data on to the GPU when the system boots.
So, in my case slowing the GPU down significantly reduced my problems while running within windows. I am 100% confident slowing the GPU down will also improve issues within Mac OS X, but I have no way to pull this off.
If Apple reads this, or if anyone has any connections at Apple, can we please get an optional firmware update to reduce the speeds of the X1600 GPU? It won't fix all the iMacs with these issues, but it will fix quite a few, and for those out there who don't have any issues at all with their white C2D iMacs, lowering the GPU speeds will most likely prevent damage from inevitably occurring, keeping them a happy customer.
Now, some of you may not like the idea of a slower GPU, but if I have to pick between a slower GPU and an $800 logic board, I will take the slower GPU any day.

Since the screen doesn't work, it will be challenging to get it working, even thru iTunes. You will need to ask yourself if you want to invest more money in it or get a new one, especially since the contents will be lost since you don't know the passcode. Apple will gladly replace the screen for a cost that represents a significant portion of the price of a new. Once the screen is done, you may or may not be eligible for the free iPhone 5 Battery Replacement Program.
Or, if you decide to salvage it and are strong of heart and firm of hand, you can replace the screen yourself for less. See here and note they carry kits with all needed tools and parts.

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue.

Thanks, my wife is the one serving I am retired and trying to follow her as much as I can.
I will schedule an appt for my next time stateside. I have spent too much time on many Apple web sites trying to get an e-mail to communicate with anyone at Apple to no avail, only phone numbers. I guess if you are overseas with no international access you are out of luck communicating with them. I did find one e-mail address but the reply was computer generated and provided useless links.
If anyone has any e-mail address for anyone at Apple I would appreciate it.

Last night my iphone screen all of a sudden was solid blue and now it is black. I tried turning it on and off. Still nothing appeared on the screen. I put it on the charger and this morning it is totally black. However, when I hit the on and off button, I did hear the text message signal go off. When I turned the volume on and off a big white bell flashed. In the last week, there were some other display problems such as the screen blowing up large. The only way to fix it was to turn off the phone and then turn it back on.
What does all of this mean? It seems like I've had these problems since the iphone 4 upgrade.

It seems this problem is caused by the software to increase the readibility of upper letters (clock battery etc.) It be nice to leave us the control of choosing background letter color too if we are using brighter images or darker images.
I'm using iphone 4s and it appeared after I updated to new patch. 7.1.1.

How can I capture motion video of my iPhone screen?

I would like to capture my iPhone screen in action for purposes of demonstrating its usage to others (e.g. How do I create and send a text?). I want to be able to use this in a FinalCut video.

I don't think there is a supported way to make screen recordings in iOS devices.
The possible workaround is to use AirPlay and record on a second device.
There is software for the mac that can turn a mac into an airplay device. You can then use Quicktime Player to make a screen recording and then bring that into FCP X. Also instead of QT Player you may use ScreenFlow or other screen recording software if you have it.
I can't test right now, but when I get home I plan to make a little test to see how well this in fact works.

ITunes 11 how do I arrange apps on iPhone screens from computer? Device tab disappears???

I just downloaded iTunes 11, and am regretting it. It is super easy to buy new music, apps and vids, but I can't figure out how to get it to display my iPhone screens on the computer. It will sync, when I plug in my phone via a USB cord, but other than that...what the heck? I tried to click on my Device tab but the second I do, that tab just disappears. Nothing changes, I get no screen showing my iPhone screens, no way to move around my apps in iTunes. What am I missing or doing wrong? I can go to my Apps tab and see all my apps, in alphabetical order. I can select them all and update them, etc., etc., but I just can't figure out how to show my iPhone screens while in iTunes.
I've searched online and found a How To that shows your phone comes up after you click on the Device tab...but I can't get that Device tab to work. HELP! This is driving me nuts and making me feel completely illiterate.

On the top Left hand side, Click on Apps
In the Middle of iTunes, Click on iPad or iPhone
Then on the top right corner, Click on your device icon with the Eject button
Then you should see you device screen at the bottom were you can start moving around apps or etc.....

To prove it is there. Go the first iPhone screen, slide screen all the way to right. This is the Search Screen, in top bar type cam, or if you want type camera. There it is. You can now look for it on the iPhone. If you want the iPhone to find it by organizing all your Apps in order. Then, Settings App>General>Reset, near bottom of list, Reset Home Screen Layout.

Depends, if you've synced with this iTunes, while that passcode was enabled, you won't be prompted to enter the passcode when connecting your phone. If you have not synced, while that passcode was enabled, you will. So, if you fall in the later, there is no way to do what you want.
