IPhone 6 stuck in landscape after unlock

Most of the time when I unlock my phone, the open app is in landscape mode. It will not switch to portrait unless I rotate the phone 90 degrees to landscape and then back to portrait. This is extremely annoying on apps that have very discrepant functions in portrait vs landscape, such as Music. The problem was there when I first got the phone in October. It persisted until December, when there was an update that addressed this and similar issues. However, the issue has come back over the past couple weeks.
It is really annoying, especially with one handed use. The weird thing is, I can go to the home screen and switch to another app, and that app will be in portrait mode! It's only if there is an active app when the phone locks, so that unlocking would unlock into an app, not the home screen. So that makes me thing it is a software issue and not hardware. It only seems to happen if the phone is rotated or laid flat while locked. It doesn't happen if the phone was held in portrait between unlocks.
Thank you

that worked until today, so 5 days of success. I think ill just try portrait lock until I need landscape. I guess that's kinda what it's there for
appreciate the help though
if anyone thinks of a more permanent solution, would appreciate that as well
thank you

I am using iphone 4s in India. I am facing a problem that some times when I got a call, my iphone got stuck and unable to unlock and I lost that call unattended. Then I have to reboot my iphone. There after it starts working. And in another incidence my iphone home page automatically shows extra large fonts. Plz help to encounter these problems. Sunil

Restore the phone from backup.  If this does not work, restore the Phone as a new device not using backup at all.

  • Iphone 5 stuck in portrait after software update

iphone 5 stuck in portrait after software update  wont unlock  i can see the lock symbol but cant find it in menu

Try swiping up from the bottom very bottom edge of the screen to reveal the Control Center. You should be able to turn off the rotation lock there (Round arrow with a lock in the middle)

  • IPhone 4 stuck in landscape mode after iOS 6 upgrade

I used to have a fully operational iPhone 4 until yesterday, when I upgraded to iOS 6.
Many apps including Mail, Safari, Contacts, Calendar and several third-party apps have been stuck in landscape mode since then.
    I have tried to:
    - reset
    - restore from back-up
    - restore to factory settings,
    without success.
At the end of the day, I am not even sure whether this problem relates to iOS 6 or if it is just a coincidence. Anyway, the only workaround I found is to lock autorotate in portrait mode, which is not acceptable in the long run.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

    Pb solved!
Yesterday, my iPhone ran out of battery and powered off automatically. When I restarted it after a full battery load cycle, the iPhone was able to autorotate again.
    So far, so good
    Hope it helps someone else.

    Anyone else have this problem????
    Thanks

Double click the home button scroll over to the audio controlls there is a button on the left that looks like a reload button that locks the orientation

  • Iphone 4 stuck in recovery after 6.1 update

My iphone 4 is currently stuck in recovery after the latest 6.1 update.  My windows computer won't recognise it as a device so it won't connect to itunes, it won't do a hard restart and the screen just displays the 'connect to itunes' symbol.  Help needed please!

if you do a hard reset, there's no reaction?

  • IPhone 4s stuck in bootloop after "restore all settings"

Recently, I tried to use the "Restore All Setings" on my iPhone 4S (non-jailbroken), and after it finished, it got stuck in a reboot loop and has been stuck like that for three days. I was wondering how to fix it (If possible without an iTunes Restore) and why this might have happened.

    Hi, TheWasteLandd.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your device is in restart loop, I would recommend restoring the device via iTunes.

  • IPhone 5 stuck in landscape

My iphone 5 gets stuck in landscape view when I am searching through contacts. I use a mophie batterypack case. Could this be the issue? It hasn't gotten stuck in any other apps so far.

Find the control center of your iphone by swiping straight up from the bottom of the screen. You will see a padlock on the right side near the top which appears as if it's an application. Click on the padlock to disable the orientation lock you have enabled.
    Good luck Friend.

  • IPhone 5 says "No Service" after unlock

    Hello,
I recently bought a secondhand iPhone 5 from my girlfriend which was locked to the Vodafone UK network. I'm currently with Virgin Mobile UK so I looked into getting the iPhone unlocked to use with my current SIM.
I came across a seller on eBay who unlocks iPhones and has very good reviews, so I purchased an unlock request through them. Yesterday morning I received a message from the seller informing me that the iPhone was ready to be unlocked and gave me instructions on how to complete the process.
When I connected the iPhone to iTunes, I was greeted with the "Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked" message. However, when it comes to inserting a SIM from a different network, it just says "No Service" in the top left of the screen.
I've seen quite a number of threads about this issue and I've tried several different methods of resolving it. I have tried:
Trying multiple SIM cards (it will work with the Vodafone SIM I have but not with ones for other networks)
    Toggling Airplane Mode on/off
    Resetting the network settings
    Erased all content and settings
Restored the iPhone via iTunes (iTunes is up-to-date)
I'm quite stuck on what to do now. I've contacted the seller who's assured me that the phone is unlocked and send me a "GSX Report" (whatever that is). Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks

Just wanted to give an update on this for those who may be experiencing the same problem.
I spoke to someone from Apple a few days ago who tried to help me resolve this. They confirmed that the phone was unlocked. After going through some of the fixes I've tried already, they suggested it may be a problem with the SIM cards I was using and recommended getting a brand new one to try.
I got my new nano SIM through from Virgin Mobile yesterday, transferred my number and contract across and now it's all working perfectly.
I'm not really sure why people on here were so reluctant to give me advice on what to do. When I told Apple that I got the iPhone unlocked through an eBay retailer, they didn't question it at all. They said nothing about it being hacked or that I should have gone through the carrier, and they assured me that the phone was completely unlocked.
Oh well. I'm glad it's working now. Thanks Apple!

  • IPhone 16GB stucks and does not unlock...

I have got an iPhone 16GB for four months now. At the first time the phone worked fine but suddenly after 2 months of use this problem started to appear. My iPhone's slider stucks (does not move) when you want to unlock it regardless if you push the home button or the power button on top. When you push each of them the screen turns on but the slider does not move to unlock the phone.Even worse the same happens when someone calls in, so you cannot answer any call!Afterwards, when I try to unlock it 2-3 times, unlocks but its late then and I have to call back the person who called me. I have upgraded to the latest 2.0.1 firmware edition using iTunes upgrade option but the same thing happens and the phone now seems to work slower than before and also, when you scroll the screen (eg. in Contacts) does not scroll smoothly. In all other respects the phone works flawlessly but this problem makes it almost unuseable and its very irritating. I am forced at the moment to use it with its included cable hands-free to accept calls. Is there any solution to this problem or I have to bring it to Apple service in case is faulty?

Probably that is what I will do. However, how can you explain that the screen works normally when you unlock the phone and gets stucked when it is locked? Moreover, do you know if there is any way to downgrade the firmware to 1.1.4?this may help solve the problem

  • HT201263 iPhone 4 stuck in loop after downloading iOS 6.0.1

I downloaded the newest version of iOS 6 to my 5 month old iPhone 4. After about an hour I noticed that the phone was in a perpetual power up/power down loop. I assumed it was part of the downloading process (although it seemed weird) so I left it for another hour. The phone never came out of the loop, and was not recognizable in iTunes or to my computer. After about 3 hours I was finally able to get the phone off by holding down the power button.
The loop that I described consists of the phone powering up to the apple logo, and powering down, repeating every 5 seconds.
I was finally able to get my computer to recognize the phone by holding down the home button while I connected it to the USB.
In iTunes, I restored the phone (1.5 hour process.) Following the restore, the phone hasn't changed, still stuck in the loop.
I have tried everything I know to do.
    Any ideas?
The phone is not jailbroke. When the guys at AT&T plugged it up to their computer, the screen turned bright blue. They said the blue screen normally pops up with water damage? The phone hasn't had any damage.

    Thanks for the reply.
Yes i tried in my pc and disabled both and in my MacBookPro too, still no luck.

  • Iphone 5 stuck in grayscale after upgrading to iOS 8

I just upgrade my iphone 5 to iOS 8 (from the last version of IOS 7) with success, but after rebooting it it is stuck in grayscale. Changing to use or not grayscale doesn't change anything.
I tried to reinstall it but I still have the same problem.
And I can back to IOS 7.
    Any ideas/solutions ?
    Thank you!

Thank you so much for this solution. Here's my scenario:
I was taking photos and reading SMSes while running to meet a friend. I'm sure my fingers were tapping all over the screen and I probably didn't lock it when I put it in my pocket to run faster. When I pulled it out, it was greyscale. Here are my troubleshooting attempts:
DID NOT WORK: Settings > General > Accessibility > Enable/Disable Greyscale
DID NOT WORK: Settings > General > Accessibility > Enable/Disable Invert Colours
DID NOT WORK: Tried inverting colours, exiting Settings app for several minutes, then turning Invert Colours off.
DID NOT WORK: Tried inverting colours, removing Settings app from multitasking menu (hard quit) for several minutes, then turning Invert Colours off.
DID NOT WORK: Triple-tapping home button to bring up accessibility options for Invert Colours. Enabled/Disabled Invert Colours via this method to no avail.
    DID NOT WORK: Rebooted phone.
DID NOT WORK: Upgraded from iOS 8.1 to iOS 8.1.2. Phone was still in greyscale after upgrade.
WORKED: Jayesbe's suggestion above to three-finger triple-tap the screen solved the issue. Choose Filter > None. My phone was then in Inverted Colours and I just disabled that to bring back standard colours. Woohoo!
    Thanks again!
P.s. Greyscale is still quite useable, but many apps (Facebook, for example) discern buttons and actions (Liking a post) with colour. The greyscale version of some blues and grey look very similar, so it's hard to know if actions are happening or not.

  • IPhone 5S stuck on Searching after poor or lost antenna signal

My 2 weeks old iPhone 5S , AFTER installing the "latest update" from Apple, start acting abnormal: it's geting stuck in Searching… mode after passing by a low signal area or after signal was complete lost.
Is this a hardware issue, should I return it to the store, or is an software issue and we have to wait for Apple Guys to fix it?
This is so bad as I use it primary for EMERGENCY calls, second for business and then for pleasure. Today being busy and not staying with my eyes on the phone , I was on Searching mode for the entire morning, for 5 hours. It's unacceptable to not be able to be reached  all this time.
APPLE, you should have this issue as TOP PRIORITY on your table as I'm sure a lot of customers have the same problem.

  • Iphone 2g stuck at slide to unlock

My iphone 2G is stuck at the initial "slide to unlock" screen.  The screen looks normal, but is dim and shows that it is in airplane mode.   I have used itunes to restore the phone, and done a few hard resets, but still cannot get to the passcode screen.  When I swipe my finger on  the slide to unlock, nothing happens.  The slide to turn off does work.

Did you restart the phone like this?
First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
If you tried that and the problem continues and is repeatable have an Apple technician take a look at your phone. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.
