IPhone 6 upgrade question

Yesterday, I pre-ordered (online) 2 iPhone 6's. We are upgrading from our old iPhone 4. I realize the new 6 will use a sim card where the 4 did not. Will the new phones come with the sim card installed or will I need to go to the Verizon store and get them?
Thank you!!
Terri

The phone should come with the SIM card pre-installed.  If there is not one in the phone or in the box, you can get one free at a corporate Verizon store, or have one mailed to you.  Some authorized reseller and third party vendors will charge for a SIM card; Verizon does not charge anything for the SIM card.

  • IPhone upgrade question

    Hi,
Not sure where this should be asked, hoping this is ok here!
I'm looking to upgrade to iPhone 5, if that's what it's called.  When I do a *639#, I get full retail pricing and the same if I go online.  But, when I went by a AT&T store they said, I can get a reduced rate, cost of the phone plus 250 and 36 activation fees. I'm confused on why it's like that in the store but not online?  Any clarification would be grateful.
         Thanks, Jerry

That is a good question for ATT since whatever is reported online is reported by ATT.
ATT offers an early upgrade subsidized price which is not their full subsidized price. This is for those who have a fully subsidized phone currently which has not been used under contact long enough for ATT to offer their full subsidized price.

  • Iphone upgrading question

Ok so I purchased my Iphone 3g back in April of last year. When I called ATT they said I was able to upgrade my phone. I also did the *629# or whatever it is and that also says I can upgrade..im just wondering how so? I mean I only had the phone for a lil over a year. Does this sound correct? It does say Ill have to sign another 2 year contract..which is fine. Any help is appreciated. First time to post so sorry if I did something wrong.

I'm not clear what your question is. Are you asking why AT&T is giving you the upgrade price, as if your feel undeserving? Or, are you really worried that they gave you misinformation on 2 separate occasions, by 2 different methods, only to be faked out when you place the pre-order?

  • Another iPhone upgrade question.

Does anyone know if they are allowing people to transfer upgrades betweens lines to pre order the iPhone on Feb 3?  My line isn't eligible, but a different line on my plan is.  I don't want to have to upgrade with that line and then transfer the phone.  I want to be able to transfer the upgrade like I have done in the past.  Has anyone heard if this will be able to be done?

If you read the threads and Verizon's own pre-release publicity, it is NOT possible to do an alternate upgrade for pre-orders on the the 3rd. ONLY lines eligible for an upgrade or those paying full price will be able to pre-order on the 3rd.
Options are to pre-order on the 3rd (if you must), activate on the eligible line and swap it out, or wait until the 10th when it is officially released and then order using an alternate upgrade....

  • Iphone upgrading questions

ok so i have a blackberry storm 2 right now my plan isn't up for another year and a half but i want 2 get the iphone when it comes out, so if i get the iphone will i be paying full retail or can i extend my plan another 2 years and get it at 199 or 299???

No you'll have to pay full retail ($649 for the 16GB and $749 for the 32GB).
Your other options are selling your current phone, then using the money from that to offset the iPhone's retail price, or cancelling your contract, then signing up again for a new contract with an iPhone. The downside to this is that you will lose your phone number, and have to start your contract over (2 more years). But, this will save you about $150.
I recommend seeing how much your phone sells for on sites like ebay and cowboom, to get an idea of how much you can expect to pay out of pocket for your iPhone.
Edit: a third option - which will only work on a family plan - is to add another line ($10 per month) and buy an iPhone on it. Then, make the iPhone the primary account holder. Find a cheap, used Verizon "dumbphone" for around $20, and use that on the line that used to be for your Blackberry.
This way, you are only paying $10 a month extra, plus the $20 or so upfront cost for the used dumbphone.

    Good question.
I believe that your SIM card should be interchangeable between your old 4GB iPhone and your new 8GB iPhone. Of course, if you take your SIM out of the old 4G what will the buyer of your 4G use for a SIM card to get started - are you planning to give him the non-registered SIM from the 8G that you get?
If not, how do you expect him to get a SIM card unless you expect him to have to buy one from AT&T?
I think that if the old SIM works, there should be no need to restart your two (2) year contract but first the old SIM needs to work.
    Let us know what happens.

  • Security upgrade question - Getting 6.1.6 downloaded to iphone.

Security upgrade question - I have a 4S phone v6.01 with an upgrade to IOS 7.04 already downloaded and ready for install.  I would like to install the 6.1.6 security upgrade instead. How do I delete the ios7 in the queue or have the 6.1.1 pushed as an option to the phone?

You can't install iOS 6.1.6 on that device and must update it to 7.0.6.

  • I interrupted my iphone upgrade to ioS 6 and now my phone just keeps showing the apple. it wont restart or show up when I plug it into itunes!!!!

Help! i accidently interrupted my iphone upgrade to ioS 6 and now my phone wont turn on completely. it just keeps showing the apple. it also wont register with itunes...i have tried turning it off and restarting it multiple times but nothing is working. HELP!

hey man, i feel your pain... here's my story and i'm pretty sure this will work for you... on the 19th of september i went to upgrade ios 6 and paused it about 1/10 through... when i plugged my phone up at night the screen was at the normal lock screen.. when i woke up at 10:30 am i went to check my phone and the screen appeared as an apple logo with a progression bar about 6/10 full.. it didn't seem to be progressing any more, but i guess that was only because it was so slow trying to download over wifi because it had all night to finish downloading.. anyways i needed to check my texts and the time so i held down the lock button and the phone turned off during the download.. when i tried to turn it on the apple logo would appear like normal trying to boot up.. then it would fade away and cut off.. then seconds later try to turn on again, by itself, repeatedly for hours on september 20. i tried restarting it (holding lock and home button down 10-15 seconds) but the problem with that is that the phone was already trying to turn on itself so it never would restart correctly... (continued turning on and off by itself).. i went to verizon and they said my phone is screwed.. go to apple if you wanna pay.. i called apple support and a lady helped me out here's the solution that worked after hours of thinking my phone is totally screwed.. when the phone is dark and cut off.. press and hold the home button before you plugin your sync cable to your usb port.. (have itunes up and ready) continue holding the home button and plugin the sync cable.. still holding the button, wait for a message from itunes appear that says it recognizes your device in recovery mode.. press ok.. the screen on your iphone should be a snyc cable and and arrow pointing to an itunes symbol... from there it is pretty self explanatory.. you will need to restore and update your phone from there which should be an option after you press ok... it takes awhile.. your phone will then go through one, or maybe a few progression bars (it may vary, not sure).. while your itunes will be restoring software & firmware.. when everything is done on itunes and your phone.. your phone should boot right up!!! reply if you have any more questions.. i'm so glad i resolved my issue today.. good luck!

  • Iphone upgrade purchase discount

That is a question you would need to ask your phone carrier and see what discount they will give you.

  • How can I get missing contacts, notes, calendar dates and reminders that are just on my old iphone onto the iCloud for transfer to my new iPhone upgrade?

    Dear wise & wondeful people:
How can I get missing contacts, notes, calendar dates and reminders that are just on my old iphone onto the iCloud for transfer to my new iPhone upgrade? Half of my contacts, notes, ect. were on my iCloud so have happily moved to my new iPhone but the rest are completely resistant. For example, on my iCloud I have 14 missing contacts starting with the letter A alone, however they are happily viewable on my old iPhone 4S and won't budge over into the iCloud.
There are also 3 notes missing yet still acessible on my onld iPhone 4S, the list goes on.
Your help would be most appreciated. Thank you so much.

  • Need information on how to upgrade from 10.5.8 to make computer compatable to iphone upgrade of 11.5.1

hi everyone:  I require some information on how to upgrade from 10.5.8 to make my mackbook pro compatable
with the iphone upgrade. Please note that I have gone thru the upgrades on this computer and it tells me there are
no new ones available...... I need to get my upgrade past the 11.5.1 level.....so do I need to purchase a new
upgrade program....and if so which one...as I have been thru the apple store and so far as i can tell
the ones that are listed such as maverik, lion and snow lepard are not high enough.
To anyone who replies, thankyou so much for taking the time to help me.  It is truely appreciated.

11.1.5 is likely to be the version of iTunes you are being asked to run, not the version of Mac OS X.
To get a higher version of iTunes, you likely have to upgrade Mac OS X. All Roads lead through the 10.6 Upgrade, available as a physical DVD only, from the Apple Online store for about US$20:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
This is one of the most benign Upgrades Apple has ever issued. The size of the Operating System gets smaller, performance is slightly faster, and very few Applications are left behind. If you have some older PowerPC Applications, you may need to ask to install the Optional Rosetta emulator for PowerPC code when you install.
Once your 10.6 install is fully Updated to 10.6.8 using Software Update, the Mac App Store will appear, and future upgrades (if needed) will be handled through variations of online purchases.

  • Iphone upgrade file is too large for my network space

    Hi
Does anyone know how to set the disk location that itunes uses for non-music files. My network space is too small for the next iphones upgrade and I can't download it.
    cheers

Your network space is smaller than 240MB? If it is, that's the smallest allocated space I've ever heard of! Besides, when the update becomes available, you'll be downloading it from Apple's servers directly. If your asking for a place that you can store and then update from, you just have to hold the SHIFT key on a PC or the OPTION/ALT key on a Mac while pressing UPDATE or RESTORE and it will allow you to find the firmware file on your primary C drive or wherever you've placed it.

  • Change location of the iphone upgrade files

My PC's C: drive has limited disk space, as I use it only for operating system. But when I tried to upgrade the firmawre of my iphone 3G to version 2.0.2, the iTune download more than 240 MB data into my C: drive, and left only about 150 MB free space in my C drive which is not enough for software extraction and installation. Does anyone know how I can download iPhone upgrade file to a specified location in Window XP file system, and run from there?
Thank you very much in advance

I use an external drive for my itunes library. I am pretty sure it downloads there. You might meed to switch everything over to an external, including the itunes database. You can do this in advanced preferences.

  • Sept 30 iPhone Upgrade??

Does anyone know what or how -exactly, Apple is supposed to offer in the way of an iPhone upgrade on September 30?
I have read that they are supposed to make some sort of change to the iPhone but do not know what this may be. I ask because I have been waiting to purchase an iPhone but will only do so after I know about this upgrade.
Off topic, but I read that approx. 25% of iPhone user's would swap to Verizon from AT&T if they could. I live in the Chicago area and Verizon is useless. My wife was forced to switch to Verizon from Sprint and she (and others at her company) are having fits with Verizon. Recently she was calling a local area code only to be told that she had the incorrect area code for Afghanistan. She found that nearly all of her co-worker's were have similar issues. Reception is terrible as well. Having said that, I look forward to switching to AT&T with hopes of having a better wireless experience.
    Thanks.

The actual impact of the "attenuation" you would experience with the iPhone 4's antenna in real world use never appeared to be very significant (and based on how the issue has largely died off, was most likely not a big factor for the average user).
It would be very unusual and uncharacteristic for Apple to make any sort of design revision at this point in a product's lifecycle. On top of that the iPhone 4 continues to be released in new countries overseas every few weeks as-is.
I think it would be pretty safe to assume there are no pending changes to the phone itself. As far as what will actually happen on the 30th, who knows. We already know the case program won't be extended, as I see it this leaves two possibilities. Either Apple is confident enough now that this is a non-issue for users that they will simply discontinue the case program and life will go back to normal. Or they will make the bumper a pack-in on every iPhone 4. Personally I consider the first scenario the most likely one.
