IPhone 6 - Voice of Senders Name Alert

I just switched back to iPhone after deciding the Note 3 was not my thing. Anyway Android had a feature that instead of a message alert tone, you could also use a feature that would say the senders name if it was in your contacts. The same is true for an incoming call. Instead of a ring tone, it would say, "Bob is Calling".
Does this feature exist in the Apple world?

No, that is not a feature of the iPhone. You can certainly make your own ringtones for your contacts and assign them.

So when I record anything with my iphone I give the voice memo a name by taping the blue arrow at the end of the recording, however when I sync them to my itunes the name does not sync and only the date and time...! does anyone know how can I fix this or if this is even possible?

Iphone Voice Memo Sync Solved?

Recently got an Iphone 3GS. Couldn't get the iphone voice memos to sync to Itunes, except once by trimming the memo and that seemed a fluke. I didn't want to go through the steps of consolidating my itunes library which has worked for some, as I didn't want all that duplication going on. I found that once the Iphone is connected, there is ANOTHER box that needs to be checked that Apple has not mentioned as far as I know: The name of your iPhone in the Artists box.
1. Connect Iphone to computer. Note that I do not automatically sync my Itunes or iphone but manual only; others may differ.
2. At the top of the Summary page, select the Music tab which opens the music page, at the top of which is a box that you check called Sync Music. (That 'sync music' is just a setting, not the 'sync' button at the bottom that actually syncs.)
I make sure that under that the 'selected playlists artists albums and genres' is selected, then below that is checked the 'include voice memos'...
3. Under that you should see a list of categories playlists, artists, etc. You can check the box 'Voice Memo' under Playlists, but don't know if this is crucial. There is another Voice Memos box under 'Genre' which you can click but also don't know if it's crucial.
4. Most importantly, go to the Artists list, scroll down and find the name you use for your Iphone. THAT'S the box that seems most important. Then with all those boxes checked the computer may request you to hit the 'apply' button at bottom right for those changes, then click the Synch button on the bottom right of the page and all voice memos go from iphone to iTunes.
To get them out of Itunes for backup go to the left hand column in the Itunes window where it says 'PLAYLISTS' (not the playlists on the music page, but the heading in the left hand column usually below the 'STORE' and 'DEVICES' headings.) This PLAYLISTS heading shows the iTunes folders on your computer, not your iphone, scroll down and through the playlists until you come to 'Voice Memos'. Open that and then you can drag the voice memos onto your desktop like any other itunes file. (If you mistakenly open the Voice Memos folder under the Devices heading, that's your Iphone, and you will not be able to drag those files onto your desktop. Ideally disconnect your iphone before doing this.)
I would like to know if this works for other than the two MacBook Pros I tried it on; note that this presumes your iphone name will show up in the Artists list; if not that may be another problem.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

Syning iphone voice memos to itunes

I am having trouble syncing iphone voice memos to itunes. I am selling my iphone and need to ship it off, but I really want the vocie memos. I went to the music tab and checked include voice memos. I have backed up and synced my phone after,and I cannot get the voice memos playlist to appear on itunes. I have emailed some to myself, but some are too large. Please help

Yes, you can! You need an app on your Mac called Phone View. Download it, check the "show all files" option(or words to that effect) in prefs, and look under voice memos. Be careful not to delete any iphone system files, but if you follow the instructions you will easily see a section for voice memos. Drag the relevant .mov (this seems to contain the sound data) onto the desktop and then into itunes.
Quick, wireless, and no sync required. I did this for one voice memo of a conference that got stuck on the phone, i.e., it wouldn't sync in itunes, and it also wouldn't play from with the voice memo app on my phone.

My iphone was stolen at new years eve. I've tried tracking it with find my iphone, but it's been offline since i lost it. However, i have an old phone that i immediatly charged the next day to stay in touch with my relatives, but i found out, that icloud is tracking my old phone instead of my new one (which is lost). I suppose it's due to the fact, that the iphones have the same name (or ID).
So my question is, is there a way for me to add my old iphone to icloud while still being able to track the location of the stolen one? As of now, i cannot use the 'my iphone is lost' feature on icloud, because everytime i enable it, it just finds my old one and gives the security message. Is the only solution to keep old one offline?

You need to rename one of them. I would suggest that you backup and sync each device after the renaming.

I have had this same problem for weeks now with my 4S. I just got a new 5S after being extremely frustrated and the same thing - no sounds. After searching posts all over, I couldn't find a solution. I just told my friend of the issue and he asked "Do you have the Do Not Distrub on?" I didn't even know such a function existed. Upon looking that was exactly the issue.
To resolve, go to Settings> Do Not Disturb> Manual. If it is green, turn it off. You will now get phone calls and text alerts.
This functionality is also on your quick access utility menu (slide up menu). I assume this is how it was enabled on my phone.
I will post on other sites since I searched for weeks for this solution and didn't see it anywhere. Good luck!

No Senders Name for Messages

Hi All,
I have been having this problem for some time now over various different versions of PC Suite.
My messages sync fine with my PC and I can read them all and it is all correct, however in the "From" field when viewing from the PC I only get the phone number of the sender not the Name.
I have tried;-
syncing my contacts with outlook and with the phone browser.
making sure that the phone numbers all have +44 in front of them (to make the number exactly the same)
deleting everything and re-installing.
4 or 5 differnet phones over 2 or 3 years
I do not know for sure if it should show the senders name in the phone browser (although I beleive I recall it doing so some years ago...).
Can anyone give me any pointers as to where to go from here? it would be realy usefull if I could see the names rather than the numbers

Why are you querying database itself? Any operations strictly on DB are not supported as for querying and admin operations you have FIM Sync console...

Are you syncing your phone with iTunes and then with iCloud? This can cause duplicates. Sync with one or the other, but not both.

Windows mail on external drive does not show senders name, only an odd alpha/num. file name. How to view by sender to sent to name ?

I have downloaded from a PC to an external drive my windows mail files (sent, inbox, etc). I can view the files on the PC by changing headers to add senders name, etc.
However, when viewing on my MacBook Pro, I can see all the files but the they are labled with a mixed alpha/numberic file name and not the sender, etc. Can the sender and/or sent to names can be added as searchable fields ?

Enterprise manager still requires a static service definition in listener.ora and does not rely on dynamic registration.

You have an Apple ID signed in to all the devices which is causing this.
"When you sign in to your Apple ID with iMessage using an iPhone with iOS 6, your Apple ID is linked to your phone number. This allows you to receive iMessages sent to your phone number on other iOS 6 devices signed in to the same Apple ID."
To correct this, go into Settings > Messages > Send and Recieve at > See below...
On your phone: Uncheck your son's phone number
On his phone: Uncheck your phone number.
On iPad: Uncheck both phone numbers to prevent iMessages sent to either number to also appear on the iPad.
If you have email addresses associated here, then you may have to remove those as well, although you won't be able to remove the Apple ID that you're using. Any iMessage sent to that Apple ID will arrive at all the device unless you sign out of that Apple ID and create/use another Apple ID for that device.
