IPhone Activation: Incorrect Apple ID

Hello.
I was updating from iOS 7 to iOS 8, and they asked me for my Apple ID and password. I filled them in and then it told me that the Apple ID "****@hotmail.com" can't be used to unlock this iPhone. It's strange because it is a valid Apple ID and i used it for my iPhone before updating. I even tried to log in on iCloud on my laptop with this ID and it worked. What shall i do?

Sounds like your device has been Activation Locked by another user. Did you purchase this device 2nd hand? If so, you will have to contact the previous owner to get the Activation Lock removed:

  • IPhone Activation Lock Apple ID not mine.

    Hello,
I'm going to start out from the beginning, I decided to delete my iCloud account a few days ago for no apparent reason,
but I saw that deleting my iCloud account deleted my contacts as well.
I tried to restore to an old backup on my PC in iTunes, but after that, it showed some of my contacts, but there were missing some stuff here and there like Notes and Photos I really needed, so I decided to backup and restore to a even older backup, seeing that it still didn't work I decided to just restore my phone completely and restore to a older backup (which was a really bad choice),
when I restored, I was greeted with this Activation Lock, but the email that was shown that was linked to my iPhone doesn't match up to the email I registered.
I then tried to enter my current Apple ID I was using before I restored, and it said "[email protected]" cannot be used to unlock this iPhone, so basicly I'm stuck here, can anyone please help me?
    I'm in Singapore Btw.

Delete all of the applications associated with the other person's Apple ID; they might have been synced from a computer instead of being downloaded directly from the iTunes Store.

Good customer service entails that they contact the apple id linked to the device and confirm if it was sold or stolen and help the new owner..
Sorry, but I disagree.  It is not the OEM's responsibility to check nor confirm any such thing.  it is up to the seller and the buyer, in a private party personal transaction, to ensure that both are satisfied with the terms and conditions of the sale and the item.
You buy a used personal item as is from someone, and it is just that, as is.  The responsibility is solely on the two parties making the exchange to ensure that both have gotten what they wanted out of the deal.
No company is going to get involved in any such private party sales or exchanges of items - in the USA at least, it would be a legal minefield for them, if nothing else.  Private/personal property sales are just that, private and personal.

  • My iphone has problem activating. It says incorrect apple id but the apple id is correct

My iphone has problem activating. It says incorrect apple id but the apple id is correct ?

    FAQ apple id http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5622?viewlocale=en_US
You are seeing your old apple id because that was the ID that was used to download the app, you can't merge apple id.
to update the app, you will have to enter the old password.
Any new apps you download with your new id, will use that id and password.

  • Apple how is possible that the guy stolen my iphone with find my iphone activated get into my apple id account and erase my iphone without my password??

My iphone was stolen and i have activated "Find my iphone", when i log in on my icloud accont to find my iphone it was desconected and i activate the lost mode and i gonna be alerted when my iphone get online again. How is that possible, he doesnt have my password or how he get into my account and reset my apple id???
I am very disapointed with Apple because i have activated "Find my iphone" and have a long passcode active and it was not enough because the guy who stole my iphone can resotre my apple id password and get into my icloud account and deactivate "Find my iphone" then when i try to login into my apple id account surprise my password is incorrect?? and i have to recover it when i login to my icloud accont my iphone is not longer have "Find my iphone" active??
Apple guys i need your answer because the app "Find my iphone" isnt secure and usefull because the guy who stole my iphone can get into my apple ID account to erase my iphone, VERY DISAPOINTED CUSTOMER.

I can't find any solution. I don't even remember when I changed my apple ID! So does that means I cant recovered my purchased apps from my " old" account? I am totally innocent, for I did not intend to "Change" my account name

  • Setup incorrect apple id now i cant activate iphone 4

Hi, i have setup my new iPhone 4 with an incorrect apple I.D. I thought it had activated but the email i put was .co.uk instead of .com. I then tried to erase all settings to try a clean install. It wouldn't let me because i needed to turn find my phone on or off in icloud settings, but i couldn't because the apple id wasn't activated. I then put phone into dfu mode, now when i try to activate it i cant because it knows the email address i set the phone up with.
    what can i do now??

Send it back. That's the activation lock and it's a theft deterrant program. If the seller can't or won't give you that apple ID to unlock it, then you'll never be able to use it (and it's a very real possibility that the ipad wasn't theirs to sell in the first place)

  • HT204266 My apple ID for the App Store on my Iphone is incorrect.  It is the email address of someone on my contact list and not me.  How do I change the Apple ID Password  on my Iphone to my Apple ID Password

When I go on the App Store App on my Iphone my Apple ID is not correct.  It is the email address of someone on my contact list.  How can I correct this and replace the incorrect Apple ID with my ID?

Go to Settings, iTunes & App Stores, click on the Apple ID. Sign out. Click again and sign in with your Apple ID.
Is it possible that this someone in your contact list had the phone and downloaded an app for you?

my apple id is not working for my iPhone activation. Please help me.
    i'll just restore it.

    Not working in what way?
Only the Apple ID that was used to enable "Find My iPhone" on the device can be used to bypass Activation Lock.

  • Apple ID is not an email: iPhone activation issue

I had problems activating my iPhone 4S yesterday. More specifically it would not let me use my appleID whihc is not an email address. I have an email address attached to it but the webpage does not seem to work when I tell it to make my email address and Apple ID one in the same. How can I get this to work. I only use my account that is not an email for all my purchases in the past. Compounding things is that I did at one point create an account with the same email address (of course as the apple ID) but I never use it. What can I do here? can I get the other accounts deleted? because my iPhone activated with the email address ID it says the account is not verified and I can't download apps. I was supposed to get an email to verify this account but it never arrived??? What is going on?

Can you sign with it into http://appleid.apple.com ? If so:
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Create a new email address, for example  at Yahoo or Gmail, or anywhere convenient (or you can use an existing address asa long as it has never been associated with an Apple ID).
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new address and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in.
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support.

  • Recently I changed my apple id but forgot to change my icloud account. I also have Find My IPhone activated. I tried to delete my ICloud account but first I need to switch off my Find My iPhone, to complicate this I can no longer access prev email account

Recently I changed my apple id but forgot to change my iCloud account.
I also have Find My Iphone activated. My old apple id was an old work email address no longer in use nor can be accessed.
I need to be able to turn off Find My Iphone in order to then delete my iCloud account, I need to include my apple id password to turn off Find my Iphone.
Is there a way around this?
    Thanks in advance.

Please go to website address: www.idapple.com Go to the blue tab that reads Manage apple id. From there you will have the option to change personal information of your apple id. The fact that the email address you used to create the apple id is no longer accessible as far as an email address goes will not disable you from changing information as part of the apple id account. However to disable the find my device you will need to be able to access this apple id login. Once you are able to access the old apple id account this then will allow you to access the icloud services by going to www.icloud.com from there you will login with your old apple id once logged into icloud.com and you have chosen the correct device you then can erase all contents of the device which then will disable the find my device.
This is one way of doing it. The other way of course would be for you to login to your icloud on your phone using the old Apple id and from there provided you are able to login with password you then can simply disable the find my device inside the icloud account.
    Good luck Friend.

  • Activating iPhone 4 through Apple ID

I bought an iPhone 4 off my friend and I need to activate the iPhone through his Apple ID but he doesnt know his email or password. What do I do?

You tell him to recover his Apple ID at https://iforgot.apple.com/appleid or call Apple Care and speak to someone in account security to recover it, them remove it from the phone, or you get your money back from him. If whoever you got it from can't release the lock, it's a brick.
The whole purpose of activation lock is to make a lost or stolen phone unusable to anyone other than the legitimate owner.
It's highly unlikely that someone would simply "forget" their Apple ID and even less likely that if they did so, they would not be able to recover it by contacting Apple Care to prove their identity to the account security team.

  • Incorrect apple id cannot be used to unlock this iphone

Having a bit of a mare tonight. I have tried to restore from backup on my iMac to my girlfriends iPhone 5, I made the back up last night, and also backed up to iCloud  last night using her apple id and password. Now according to Apples advice, if iTunes says there is not enough space to restore, go to iPhone and delete all content and settings etc. I did this it asked for iCloud login details etc and I deleted all content, when I plugged in to iTunes to retrieve the previous backup, I cannot get past the activation lock because of password. I can login to iCloud OK, (the same ID used to back up to iCloud last night!) with password but it won't accept it. This is so stupid I don't know where to start, the phone is now completely bricked, and can't even be activated yet alone restored.
She has had this phone from new but iCloud has always been a mess on this phone since iOS 7.
    Any ideas??

    From iTunes
This iPhone is currently linked to an Apple ID (s●●●●●@t●●●●●.com). Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPhone.
