IPhone acts as a repeater between other iPhones and cell tower??

It sure sounds crazy but this is what someone is claiming, that the iPhone acts as a "base station" to repeat calls from other iPhones to the cell tower.

Is there anything to this or is there any official or at least clear refutation of this claim?

That's just plain foolish. They're simply preying on people's unfounded fears to peddle their products.

I am not home so my message unit records the message from the cell phone caller. The cell phone caller leaves me his cell phone number and requests that I return his call. How can I detect if the cell phone number is a long distant call for me or it is a local call?

The only way to easily see is to dial it without area code. If it lets you call it without the area code, its a local number. If not, then its a long distance call.

Does the iPhone 2G use both Wi-Fi & cell tower triangulation for location?

For the iPhone 2G (1st generation), does it use both Wi-Fi triangulation and cell tower triangulation to determine its location? Or does it only rely on Wi-Fi?

Can it still figure out its location if there are no Wi-Fi spots around? In other words, can it simply use cell towers (as opposed to my assumption that it requires a combination of both)? I'm asking because I suspect some of my camera roll photos aren't being geotagged when I'm in poor cell coverage areas where I think voice still works but data is virtually null (and with no Wi-Fi).

Bluetooth filetransfers between laptops and other iPhones and iPods fails.

I am really disappointed about the poor implemention Bluetooth services on the iPhone 3GS. It should act as a wireless connection method between devices supporting bluetooth.
My laptop is Hewleth Packard NX6325. The laptop does find my iPhone, but because my iPhone seems not to support PAN (personal area network), so my iPhone reports "No connection".
I would like to transfer files (mp3's) between my laptop and my iPhone.
Connection with a second iPhone fails also.
This is really a missed opportunity!

I have both my iPhone and iPad backing up via iCloud, but they are not sharing the information between devices ie if I purchase an app on one it does not transfer to the other although the backup is successful via iCloud.

Backing up to icloud is not the same as syncing data between devices. Go to
Settings>Store. Turn on the automatic downloads that you want on that screen.
Settings>iCloud. Turn on the features you want to sync between devices.

Bug Report iOS 7 iTunes. Since it is repeatable on 3 iPhones and 4 iPads here, I'm sure others are experiencing the same thing. Apple, might want to take a peek at this. When a tv show or movie is deleted from Videos, the Videos app shuts down.

Restarting videos works and looks like video is getting deleted.

Don't spend a lot of time trying to change it. It's an iCloud problem that's happened before, and when it happened in August it went back to the correct colors in a few days. Just be careful when you add new items to the calendar to use the right calendar (even if the color is wrong), otherwise you'll have things out of synch when the correct colors come back.

I am developer of car radio. We have finished SPP application in Andriod mobile.
But I couldn't find iPhone start SPP connection request to our car radio.

Yes that is what I observed.
There have been other strange things going on with Mail on both the iPhone and the iMac so I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was one of them, but still I thought I might get a hint on this problem.

Iphone switching between pod cast and Ipod shuffle

Hello, I have an IPhone 3 G and while I am running at my gym it keeps switching between my IPod and my podcast player. I have checked my internet connections and it is fine. I know I am not hitting the shuffle buttoon because I turn the sceen saver off, after I have selected the Pod Cast music that I like. Is it the head phones or the IPhone?

One thing that might help out.
The button on the headphones does not have the ability to shuffle media files.
One click to pause or play. two clicks to advance to the next track.
